"Right, I think it's best if you start out the song by just swaying your hips and really getting into the rhythm of the song. As you said, 'We Will Rock You' is a song for audiences to sing along to. The crowd can sing while you pull some sick moves on stage."

Freya raises a precisely waxed eyebrow at her dance choreographer- Stan Leads. 

"Sick?" She asks, confusion playing out across her features clear as day.

"It's an American term. It means um...like, really cool. Awesome," Stan explains with some majestic hand gestures. 

 Mercury laughs, hands clinging to her stomach in amusement. 

"I'm just messin' with ya, Stan. I'm up to date with the weird American stuff... It didn't help much when I was at the airport, though. I asked an elderly woman if there was a bin nearby, and also where the loo might be hidin'. She looked at me like I was a total nutter and then walked away! Apparently, you lot speak American, not English!"

Backup dancers begin to trail into the studio, each sporting matching grins as they witness their boss's rant.

"For goodness sake, I know this is America. Whether I'm in England or the U.S, though, my bladder still needs emptyin'!"

Looking into the studio mirror, Freya blushes as soon as she sees all the dancers standing patiently in a line- waiting for her to finish her rant.

"Eh, yeah. Sorry 'bout that. Let's get start-"

A sharp and sudden pain hits her straight in the chest and she doubles over in pain.

"Freya?" Stan calls out in concern. "Do I need to call someone? Do you wanna sit down?"

The singer coughs violently, eyes stinging with unshed tears. "I'm okay, would you just excuse me for a moment while I pop to the loo?"

He nods, still concerned. "Take your time, I'll teach the others their parts while you're gone."

Freya sobs violently as she rushes towards the bathroom, lips quivering and hands shaking.

Swinging the restroom doors open and leaning against the sink, her breaths come out choked and uneven.

"You haven't even met me, and you're doubting our bond already!" she hisses through gritted teeth, speaking to seemingly no one but her own reflection in the sink mirror.

"I've had enough of all this soulmate crap- I really have! I met one of mine- loved him, even! But no matter how much of myself I gave away to him, he never reciprocated. I loved him and then I had to leave him. So you know what, soulmates? Been there, done that. If you don't want me, whoever you are, it doesn't matter. You can't hurt me more than I've  already hurt myself."

Not so far away from the studio, the Avengers are still feeling their soulmate's presence for the first time.

"It's sadness and anger," Bruce mutters in confusion. 

'You can't hurt me more than I've hurt myself,' A female voice hisses in their minds.

Natasha grunts in pain, clutching at her head with fingers laced through locks of her own hair. 

"Is that? D-do you think it could be?" Wanda stutters out, heart aching at the thought of these being her own mate's words.

"Yes," Shuri mutters, "I believe it is her."

"Why is she so upset? Did someone doubt her bond?" Peter squeaks out.

All eyes turn to Steve as he sighs deeply in regret.

"I-I might have doubted the bond for a few minutes-"

"STEVE!" Wanda reprimands, her heart breaking for their unidentified soulmate.

"- but not because I didn't want her! It's just because we haven't met yet. I'm technically in my late nineties, and I haven't even met my last mate yet!"

The rest of the Avengers watch as his eyes cloud over with tears, the guilt of having hurt his soulmate too much for him.

Thor cuddles up to his hurting soulmate, kissing him sweetly on the forehead. 

"IF IT HELPS AT ALL, I'M OVER A THOUSAND AND I HAVE NOT YET HAD THE PLEASURE OF UNITING WITH ALL OF MY GLORIOUS MATES!"

Steve smiles, the twinkling in his eyes slowly returning. "It does, T, thank you."
