Alarms went blazing at the academy as Alec, Jace, and Isabelle were tracking the demon's location

"What are we waiting for then, Let's go and get some answers" Alec said as he moved to the weapons

"Where are you guys up to?" Clary asked seeing them gear up

"Just a mission," Alec stated

"Can I come along too, I might be of some help to you guys"

"No, the only help you can be of is by staying put here!" Alec blurted out scoffing at Clary

"Alec..." Isabelle called Alec out passing him a look

"Sorry about him Clary, you should go and rest," Jace replied correcting Alec's words to comfort Clary

"Okay; However I don't understand his problem with?" Clary replied

"You-" Alec turned around sharply as Jace cut him off mid-way

"It's nothing Clary, you should head back" Jace said shaking his head as he exhales and gives Alec a questioning look

Having Clary suddenly show up at the institute with shadowhunter powers has messed up the whole system here in the shadow world and for that the fact that she is Valentine's daughter

"Did you seriously have to say that Alec?" Jace questions him shaking his head in annoyance

"You know she pisses me off, and why can't I juat bwcause you like her means we remain silent?"  ? She thinks she can waltz in here and be a part of our world within a couple of days while we have a sword hanging on all of our heads," Alec scoffs walking to the weaponry

"Hate to agree, big brother but you do have a point," Isabelle said patting Alec's shoulder

"Let's go, we're getting late," Jace says with Alec and Isabelle following behind as they leave the institute

At The Parking Lot

"Please don't run around in here Emily," I say as I get out of the car and stop her from running

"But if we don't hurry it's going to close," Emily said as I held her hand

"I have a solution for that, why don't we both run together to the elevator?" I ask as she nods in excitement

As she runs ahead I follow her coming back to my normal speed "Oh no, you can't outrun me Emily," I say as she laughs as we match each other again

"Who's winning?" Peter asks from beside the car as I shout back to reply and just as we are about to reach the end corner to take a turn Emily speeds up but just as I'm about to catch her she disappears from my site in the dim light parking area

"Emily, it's not the time to play hide and seek? Okay then," Veronica says looker for her sister in the area

"Peter! I can't find Emily!" I shout as Peter races over and we both look around the parking lot, while I run back and forth in the parking lot

"Emily! Where are you?" I called her out but unfortunately, I didn't get any response in return, which worried me with every second passing by as she was nowhere to be spotted by either me or Petter

"There's still time we can find her, panicking won't do us any good," Peter reassured me as I tried to get my mind straight as he insisted on looking around for the rest of the area and left

Just as I rounded the corner, I spotted the same three people I'd seen earlier in the parking lot heading straight for me.

There were two guys one had blonde hair and the other had raven, while the girl had brunette hair. I squinted, noticing the raven-haired guy carrying a bow and arrow slung over his shoulder.

I walked towards them, clinging to the hope they'd spotted Emily or had some information. But just as I neared them the raven-haired guy raised his bow and unleashed an arrow directly at me.

I couldn't react in time. The impact sent me sprawling to the floor, gasping for air, as the guys raced over to me, yelling something I couldn't understand.

"She's a mundane Alec! Didn't you see?" Isabelle said as she and Jace raced forward to Veronica's aid

"I thought she was a demon," Alec replied catching upto them shortly

"How's she? Is she alive?" As soon Alec came back to his senses he rushed over to Isabelle who was kneeled beside Veronica

"Alive but unconscious. We need to treat her right away," Isabelle demanded as Jace immediately retreated his sword and carried Veronica to the institute

"Do whatever you need. However I'm not going to be a part of this problem" Alec stated dismissing the issue

"Really Alec? The girl you're calling a problem is in this state because of you! She needs help, and we're the only ones qualified enough to do that" Jace said pointing over to an unconscious Veronica

"You can't outrun this. This is your responsibility. This girl is your responsibility now," Jace demanded stopping him from going out

"Fine, I get it. It was a mistake but that doesn't make me a criminal now or does it?" Alec questioned Jace right after her finished his lecture

While Veronica was taken to the institute to be treated Peter kept looking for Emily but when he came back to their meeting point there was no sign of Veronica as well

"What's going on here," Clary said rushing into the guest room as she sees a girl bleeding due to an arrow struck on her shoulder

"How can I help?"

"Maintain a steady press against her shoulder" Isabelle instructed Clary as she took her place while Isabelle managed to clean the blood

"Jace," Isabelle calls out to Jace moving aside as he takes the place beside Clary as Isabelle leaves to create an antidote for the poison

"Alec," Jace says changing his position to where Clary was

"We can't delay this or else the poison will spread," Jace said as Alec sighed and finally took his place

"I'm sorry for injuring you. I wouldn't have done that if i knew you were a mundane" Alec thought pulling out the neddle from Veronica's shoulder while the blood started spurting out as he grabbed the nearby damp cloth and pressed it against her shoulder.

Isabelle came just in the nick of time as the boys struggled to keep the bleeding in control, and finished bandaging her shoulder while the girl was still unconscious and drew a healing rune on her

"Well all that is left now is to inform the elders, and the clave," Jace said giving Alec a side look

"It was my fault I'm ready for the consequences," Alec says nodding as Isabelle passes Clary the girl's blood sample

"Let Hodge examine it, then we'll decide what to do" Isabelle said as Jace and Clary went out of the room

After an hour or so

Veronica jolted up grasping for air to breath, clutching her chest as Isabelle sat beside her

"What's this place? And who are you guys?" She asked looking around the room and felt pain and looked down to see her shoulder wrapped up in bandages

"You don't need to stress out everything's fine, I'm Isabelle," The girl with the brunette hair from earlier introduced herself

"I'm Veronica Denvers," I reply as she shok my hand gently as I looked around the room and my eyes came to a stop when I saw the guy who shot me,

"Why did you shot me?" Veronica questioned as her eyes landed on the raven haired guy leaning against the wall at the end of room

"I'm sorry, It was a mistake. My name is Alec," the guy apologised as the guilt could easily be seen in his eyes as he introduced himself and then left the room

"Who the hell was this guy,?" I asked the girl sitting beside me

"That's my brother, Alec Lightwood short for Alexander," Isabelle explained why they brought me here and not to a hospital

"And for us, we are shadow-hunters" she explained

"Shadow What? Is this some kind of a joke or cult that you guys take too seriously?" I asked suspiciously looking around the room it was quite big and spacious

"Hi I'm Jace, Jace Wayland," the guy with blonde hair stepped forward

"Nice to meet you, Jace" I passed him a weak smile unsure of what to do except for that for currently

"Oh good you're up," A girl with red crimson hair interrupted in between before I could ask any further questions

"Sorry I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Clary Fray and you are"

"Veronica Denvers," I introduced myself trying to get up from the bed but my injured shoulder didn't let that happen so easily as I slipped due to the pain

"I understand this might sound absurd to you Veronica, but we all are shadow hunters. We kill demons to maintain the balance between your and the supernatural world" he explained as I was trying to make sense of whatever it is that he's saying

"You're kidding, right? Things like these only exist in stories or movies or tv shows. How can it be real?" I said observing them as they all had the same serious expression plastered across their face

"I guess, you're not lying then," I sigh placing my head back

"Just a little question Veronica, for how long have you had the sight for?"

"The what?"

"The sight is a supernatural gift. Not many people can do see us you need a special sight or a supernatural gift as we're invisible to the human eye until we decide to show ourselves," Jace questioned and explained why he asked the question in the first place

"No, I don't even know if a thing like this exist in the first place, people really need a sight to see you guys?" I asked as they all nodded in response "shit my luck," I mumble

"And that is because of these runes, have you seen them before?" Jace says he shows me his arms and Isabelle glides a pen like thing across her neck and chest as I see some kind of tattoos forming on their body

"I don't know how's it possible but I have seen these tattoos or runes in my dreams," I reply thinking back I remember I used to have dreams of these symbols and drew them whenever I got the chance,

"Well I guess, this much information is enough for you for one night, we'll discuss the rest of things tomorrow," Jace says getting up "have some rest, you need it. Good night Veronica," Jace said as he came forward to give me a light hug

"Thank you Jace" I replied as he left the room as Clary and Isabelle stayed back in the room with for the night

"Jace was right, you need some well needed rest now, the poison is still in your body"

"Poison! Are you kidding me!" I shouted looking back over to my shoulder

"Sorry I didn't get the chance to tell you with all these new things going on. My brother Alec's arrow has poison in it that affects demons, and mundanes likewise. But don't worry you'll recover quickly since you're staying with us from now on," Isabelle explained

"But for how long? I need to look for my sister, she's missing. I can't just stay here!" I said as Isabelle helped me lay down

"We'll do everything we can to help you find your sister, Veronica but until you're recovered we can't let you out, sorry," She said
