HOME FELT PRETTY MUCH THE SAME, the same tense and awkward feeling it had. I needed to stay the night there, over what happened with, John B.
I knew he wouldn't wanted me to stay any longer, but I wanted to make sure he felt good and wouldn't be hurting. Pope, allowed me to sleep in a small couch outside, it was actually nicer than I expected.
I made myself some toasted bread, which I ended up realizing they had mold on them after my first bite. The sound of the front door being knocked, startled me as I washed the dirty plates left on the sink.
June: "Sheriff Peterkin, good morning!" -I said, smiling at the woman, who stood outside.
She smiled back at me, as I allowed her to walk inside. She began to look around, I knew she was searching for John B, so I led her to him.
Sheriff Peterkin: "How has your relationship been doing?" -she asked, making me glance over at the brunette boy.
He was peacefully asleep, hadn't even realized we were standing right in front of him as we spoke.
June: "Not very good, he's not very used to company I guess." -I lied, making my way over to the kitchen sink once again.
The Woman, only sighed. She carefully walked inside, John B's room. I couldn't hear what they talked about, but I knew she was sort of angry at him. Probably over what happened last night or him lying about, Uncle T.
They eventually arrived over to the living room. Mrs. Peterkin, waited for John B, to finish getting dressed.
Sheriff Peterkin: "Sorry to break in like this, but DCS called. They wanted me to check on you."
Sheriff Peterkin: "See how you doin'." -she explained.
John B, walked outside, taking a look around the house as she spoke. I noticed how he seemed surprised to see me in the house, almost getting startled by my presence.
Sheriff Peterkin: "So, how are you, besides the..." -she asked, pointing at her eye.
I knew she was insinuating the fact that the boy, had a black eye. Obviously John B, knew also and he quickly tensed up over the question.
John B: "Oh, no, I'm...I'm great. Yeah, fantastic. Right, June?" -he stuttered, making me stare at him confused.
He's one of the worst liars out there, it's truly embarrassing seeing him stuttering like that. Peterkin, only gave me a glance, annoyed by John B, already.
John: "Thanks for comin' by." -he finished, walking over to the kitchen with two beer bottles on his hands.
He was trying his best to avoid being questioned, I wasn't sure if I should help him out with this dumb lies. But I knew it was stupid to do so, he dislikes me and will end up saying "I didn't needed your help" cause that's just how he is.
Sheriff Peterkin: "I'm so glad to hear you say that, John B." -she said, a sarcastic smile appearing on her face.
Sheriff Peterkin: "But I heard a few things that worried me."
I walked over to the living room after finishing cleaning, paying attention to what the Woman, began explaining.
Sheriff Peterkin: "First things first, you and your twin sister, haven't been interacting in the proper way." -she remarked, staring over at the brunette one.
I looked over at John B, who only glanced at me with a serious expression. He knew I was the one that mentioned that to the, Sheriff. How? I don't even know.
John B: "I don't think we need to speak, we both have our differences. Our only similarities is that we share the same Dad, the same Mom,
and the same blood."
John B: "Nothing else! I don't care if she wants to reconnect with me or whatever she said. I don't want to! You left me and Dad, and never tried to speak to me."
I only looked at the ground, tears begging to fall down. But I wasn't going to let that happen, I'm too tired of crying.
June: "Jesus, just cut the bullshit and let the Sheriff, speak!" -I shouted, hitting the table hard enough for a couple of things to fall down.
Sheriff Peterkin: "Alright, June, take a second. Go outside and let me speak to John B, alone."
A couple of minutes passed, I couldn't remember how much but I knew it had been a while already. I still could hear the faint voices of John B and the Sheriff, speaking.
I took my time to think about everything that has happened, should I just leave Outer Banks? Leave and go back to Mom, who's still probably too angry at me? Obviously those two options are too dumb, since I don't have nowhere to go.
I can't keep dealing with the annoying glances of John B, the pain I feel over my Dad's disappearance. All the thoughts that roam through my brain, which keep getting worse by the time.
John B: "Hey, can I talk to you?"
I looked to my side, noticing the brunette boy, once again. I rested on the red hammock hung outside, I cleaned some tears off of my face. Allowing John B, to sit in front of me.
It was sort of unexpected hearing him asking that, I had some sort of hope of an apology or bonding moment. At the same time, I had a bad feeling about this.
He took a couple of seconds to speak to me, almost seeming scared to let any words come out of his mouth. I only waited for him to say whatever he needed to say, I was thinking the worst already.
John B: "Sheriff Peterkin, is going to have someone watching over us. She wants to see if we're going to be interacting."
John B: "I need you to act as if we are actually bonding. You know what I mean?" -he asked, making my mouth open wide.
June: "Are you kidding me?!" -I yelled, standing up from the hammock quickly.
John: "Wow, what?"
I stepped forward, glancing over to him as he frowned his eyebrows confused.
June: "You're such an asshole!" -I shouted, pushing him back.
After pushing him I couldn't force myself to not slap him, so that's what I did. My eyes were completely covered with tears. It was impossible to see, over how blurry my vision was.
Pope: "Oh shit!"
JJ: "Damn!"
Both John B and I, stepped away from each other. Looking aside and seeing his three friends, almost shocked over my action.
June: "Stay away from me, John B!" -I stormed off, passing right beside the trio.

A LOT OF TIME HAD PASSED, I was completely alone at home. With nothing to do since there was no electricity. I was still pretty angry about what had happened but I was able to calm myself down. Since I began to pick up a couple of flowers outside, it sort of eased me out.
A hobby of mine is making flower necklaces, even though they don't last for very long. I still find some sort of comfort it doing so though, been doing that since I was a little kid. Dad, thought me how to do them and I haven't stopped ever since.
Night had began to hit, and I as was still outside. Trying to clear my head as best as I could, with the help of a couple of books. I found them inside Dad's, office. I began to hear the sound of a boat approaching, which made me look over towards the dock.
I spotted John B, followed by the rest of his friends. They had noticed me already, Kiara and JJ, only rolled their eyes at me making me scoff.
They seemed pretty excited about something. They passed some black duffel bag to each other, finally handing it to, John B. He opened it fast, almost as if he couldn't wait to see what was inside. They all looked like little kids opening Christmas presents. I was so confused but proceeded to see what was happening.
Finally, he opened this metal cup. Inside of it was a familiar object I could've sworn I had seen before. I kept trying to remember from where but couldn't. The rest of the group seemed disappointed expect for John B, who looked almost in shocked.
After a while of trying to remember where I had seen what looked like a compass, I finally recalled. My eyes widening quickly, as I stood up from the back part of the boat I was sitting on. I walked over to the dock, getting near the group. They all silently stared at me, Pope, being the only one smiling at me.
June: "That's Dad's compass, right?" -I asked, receiving a small nod from, John B.
JJ: "What's so important about this damn compass?"
I looked over to JJ, who had an annoyed expression on his face. Crossing my arms with each other, stepping closer to, John B. I stretched my hand to him, so I could grab the compass.
John B: "Do you know anything about this?" -he asked, handing me the object.
June: "I know a lot about it, things you might not even believe."
