It was completely dark when they decided to green light the operation. Mr. Jarvis drove them to the ends of the Roxxon property, where its large facilities could be seen from a fair distance. Since Peggy was in the copilot seat, she took out her binoculars to inspect the security measures.
"Well-armed for a mothball facility, wouldn't you say?" she said after seeing two guards at a back door. She stuffed her binoculars in her purse.
"Keep your eyes open," (Y/N) told Mr. Jarvis, opening the door to the backseat. "We want you to come home to your wife safe and sound."
"But I'm coming with you," he protested.
Peggy stopped midway out of the car to ask him, "Mr. Jarvis, that cook with the spoons, was she a large woman? Violent?"
"Well, no, she was quite diminutive, actually, but she had a vicious tongue and extremely long — "
Peggy didn't wait for him to finish and handed him a radio to communicate whatever was going on outside. (Y/N) got out of the car and joined Peggy, wasting no time in walking into the facility. She didn't want to worry, she was sure that Mr. Jarvis could handle himself. . .hopefully.
An unprotected fence was their way in, and despite it being electrified, it was no trouble for them at all. Both wore protective gloves to help them climb over the fence with no problem, obviously seeing some sparks due to the contact. They hit the ground on the other side and Peggy immediately pulled the Vita-Ray calibrator out of her purse.
There were no impediments on their way inside the building and it was quite odd to say the least. As Peggy carried the Vita-Ray calibrator, (Y/N) held her gun up in the air in case someone attacked them by surprise. It was completely empty on the first floor of the building, the only thing they saw being the rusted pipes and dirt.
They climbed up the stairs to the second floor after not finding anything in the first, obviously careful enough not to stop their feet against the steps. Surprisingly enough, there was a third presence on the new floor, walking through the hallway with no preoccupations. (Y/N) didn't think twice and hit him in the back of the head with the hilt of her gun, which made him drop unconscious.
(Y/N) and Peggy grew even more alert after that, since that man wasn't probably the only one on this floor. And they were right. They crept against a large machinery to avoid getting caught by unfamiliar two scientists in the middle of the room. There was a large table with different test tubes and lab equipment all over it, something strange to see in the middle of this particular room. They looked like they were working on something in specific, although one was shrugging from his personal coat and placing on the laboratory one, which probably meant he just got here.
"Takes a minute to cool." the one leaning against the table explained. "I'm taking a pretty big risk doing this. Least you could do is smile."
(Y/N) took note of the yellowish, orange glow coming from inside another machine and nudged Peggy's shoulder for her to see it too.
"Miss Carter, Miss Dewitt, it seems that — "
The sound of Mr. Jarvis's voice coming from the radio made the two scientists grow immediately alert. Peggy did her best to quiet down the radio as (Y/N) skimmed the area for a new place to hide since the noise had ratted out their position. They climbed over the machine they had leaned against, and made sure not to make another noise, waiting for the perfect to strike.
It was evident to see how the scientist that took the lead was armed, and how he held his gun up to strike with no hesitation. When Peggy figured he was close enough, she got up from the hiding spot with a pair of protective glasses over her head with the device in her hand. It beeped and emitted a flashing light that blinded the man instantly, leaving him groaning in pain on the floor.
(Y/N) got up too and jumped down from the machine to see where the other man was, only to spot him for a few seconds before bolting in the other direction. She didn't stand still and followed after him, Peggy hot on her trail after putting the device back in her purse.
She followed him through the rest of the second floor with the gun gripped tightly in her hands. In his hands he held one nitramene bomb, so (Y/N) had to be careful not to shoot and hit the bomb instead. She had no clue where he was going in the large facility until he walked through a large hallway that led to one of the back exits.
She shot at his back several times, but he was too far away. Peggy stopped right beside her and yelled out, "That's far enough!"
The man stopped in front of a truck and opened its back doors with cow logotypes on it, revealing over hundreds of identical nitramene bombs like the one he had in his hand. He turned around slowly with his hands up and a smirk on his lips since he knew neither of them would risk shooting him.
"I wouldn't."
The man tugged on the knot of his tie and unbuttoned the collar of his shirt. (Y/N) saw a three pointed symbol carved into the man's skin, like some sort of scar, a few inches higher than the collarbones. Peggy seemed to falter at the sight of the symbol since she seemed to recognize it from the man that attacked her last night.
He pulled a device from his pocket and pressed it against the skin of his neck. In a synthesized voice, he said, "You don't want to fire again."
"Who are you?" (Y/N) asked with the gun still in the air, not caring about what he just said.
"I'm an independent businessman just trying to make his mark."
"By killing people?"
"I don't kill people," he retorted. "I just sell to people who do."
"And what about your friend?" Peggy took charge of the questions now. "Green suit? Scar on his throat like yours?"
"He's not my friend."
"Tell me his name, or so help me God, I'll blow us all to hell."
"He doesn't have a name anymore. And you can go ahead and pull that trigger, because if he's here, we're both dead anyway."
"Leviathan is coming."
"Who?"
"They'll tell you themselves soon enough," he answered to the question. "You're not gonna like the future. Such as it is."
He dropped the nitramene bomb in his hand to the ground. It broke into a thousand pieces and the smoke began pouring out of it, alarming them both.
"Thirty seconds, agents."
The smoke consumed the entirety of the floor he was standing on and he ran toward the driver's seat of the truck. (Y/N) and Peggy ran the way they had came from and tried to get as far away from the bomb's range as possible. If they remembered correctly, the blast would be in a range of 500 yards.
Peggy grabbed the radio from inside her purse. "Mr. Jarvis, do you think you could bring the car around?"
"Of course. When would you like it?"
"Oh, in about 20 seconds."
Hopefully he got a move on by then. (Y/N) remembered the guards on the entrance and she wished it wouldn't be such a trouble for him. Despite that, she and Peggy kept running, and the latter seemed to have the gears inside her head turning for a way to escape in time.
"Meet us on the access road!"
"You know I'm being shot at?"
"Now!"
"Where are you?"
"Just keep driving!"
"Could you be slightly more specific?"
This time, both took the time to yell out, "No!"
They continued running and climbed up over cinder blocks on their way to the access road, spotting the familiar car on the road just like they had told Mr. Jarvis to. (Y/N) braced herself for what she inevitably had to do, which was jump on the hood of the car at the same time as Peggy. It was quite an uncomfortable position, both women squished together as they did their best in holding onto the sides of the car for a good grip against the fast speed the car was driving at.
"Miss Carter, Miss Dewitt?!" Mr. Jarvis's higher pitch voice rang through the car.
Peggy peeked her head upside down over the windshield. "Go, go!"
"Don't you two want to get in?!"
Peggy moved first and managed to open the copilot's door in two swift movements. (Y/N) followed after her and it was quite a difficult task due to the harsh turns Mr. Jarvis was taking at the same time. She slipped inside a few minutes after and closed the door behind her, obviously quite tired of the antic she just pulled.
"Drive faster!" Peggy urged him. "We've only got ten seconds!"
"What happened back there?" Mr. Jarvis asked instead, his eyes flickering from the road to his companions.
"If we live, we'll tell you all about it," (Y/N) told him. "Now, drive!"
In that exact moment, the entire facility caught up in flames behind them. The explosion missed the vehicle by seconds, but it obviously wasn't over yet. (Y/N) turned around and saw from the back window how the flames were getting too close to the car for her liking.
"Faster!"
"I am moving faster!"
The tires screeched against the cobblestone road but Mr. Jarvis never stopped driving. (Y/N) didn't turn around just yet, her eyes too engrained on what was happening behind her. The back bumper flied off the car due to the explosion, and the once Roxxon facility was now a debris and rubble tornado with an orange light shining through. It was the strangest thing she'd ever seen.
Once they were at a fair distance, Mr. Jarvis stopped the car in the middle of the road. The three of them stepped outside and smoke filled their nostrils immediately due to the enormous fire burning in the facility. (Y/N) couldn't peel her eyes away from the sight and not because of awe, but of horror. Howard had the formula to make something of this scale the whole time?
"It would seem it works," Mr. Jarvis broke the silence.

"Perhaps some warm milk."
"Something a little stronger might be in order."
Once again, the three found themselves in the L&L Automat. Neither of them had made it home after the disaster from the day before, so meeting here gave them the opportunity to grab breakfast. Just like yesterday, the women sat in a different booth than Mr. Jarvis, back to back with each other. Peggy stared at the glass bottle of milk in her hands, which had the same cow logotype as the truck from last night.
"You did very well, Mr. Jarvis," Peggy congratulated. "Your wife would be very proud."
"She must never, ever know."
(Y/N) recalled that she told herself that when she first joined the SSR. "You'll get used to that."
"What word did he use?" Mr. Jarvis changed the subject.
"'Leviathan'."
"I'll check Mr. Stark's files." He stood up from his booth and placed his coat on. "Provided the SSR hasn't taken them all."
"Get some rest," Peggy eyed him up and down.
"To be perfectly honest. . .I'm not sure I'll sleep for days."
With that, he walked away toward the door. (Y/N) couldn't help but smile at the tone of his words as she drank from her cup of coffee, served by the lovely Angie when they first arrived. Peggy hadn't payed attention to anything else, still focused on the milk container and scribbled down words onto her notebook.
"Hey, honey, you back there, or are you still getting your beauty sleep?"
(Y/N) discreetly turned around to see the same obnoxious man from days before, sat on his respective table. The annoying tone of his voice and disgusting words were a reminder of what (Y/N) surely did not miss about working as a waitress.
"Yes, sir. You're in early this morning," Angie made her way over with a notepad in her hands, trying to keep a cool tone. "How can I help?"
"You do know the difference between real eggs and powdered ones, right?"
"Believe it or not."
"I did three weeks in a P.O.W. camp," he told her in a snarky tone. "The Nazis fed us better than this. Next time, don't get smart with me, sweetheart. Your brains aren't your best feature."
He smacked Angie's behind with a laugh, which made the woman freeze in her spot before walking back into the kitchen. (Y/N) had to restrain herself from beating some sense into the man, almost standing up from the table. Peggy seemed to read her mind, having heard the same as her, and nodded slowly. As usual, great minds think alike.
Peggy grabbed her jacket and hooked it under her arm, approaching the man's table slowly and discreetly. (Y/N) was right behind her, making herself comfortable on the empty seat in front of him.
"I understand you're not happy with your meal," Peggy leaned down on his side and grabbed a hold of the fork on the table but the man didn't seem to notice.
"You work here?"
"Unfortunately, no."
Peggy discreetly pressed the fork on the man's side, which made him let out a restrained grunt.
"Just so we're clear, this is pressed into your brachial artery," she muttered to him. "It may be dull, but I'm determined. Keep smiling."
It was entertaining to say the least, watching how the man pathetically smiled to save his own skin just like Peggy instructed.
"Once you start to bleed, you'll lose consciousness in 15 seconds," Peggy began to explain, not removing the fork. "You'll die in 90 unless someone comes to your aid. Now, given your recent behavior, how likely do you think that is to happen?"
Peggy's eyes flickered to her, which gave (Y/N) the hint that it was her turn to speak. "I have a gun leveled at your crotch. Nothing's stopping me from taking you and the little ones out right now."
(Y/N) did have her gun outside of her purse, and it was aimed down in the position she had described, but the safety was on. Though he didn't have to know that. The man grunted as Peggy pressed the fork deeper into his skin. There were beads of sweat forming on his forehead, and the fake smile he had put up was now turning into a grimace.
"To prevent this not entirely unfortunate events from occurring, I'd suggest you find a new place to eat. Do we understand each other?"
"Yeah," he answered, strained.
"Oh, one more thing. Tip generously."
Peggy dropped the fork from his side and the man felt like he could finally gasp for breath as he grunted in pain. (Y/N) placed her gun back in her purse and flashed the man a fake smile before heading toward the door with Peggy on her side.
(Y/N) stepped outside into the cool weather with her own jacket shrugged off her shoulders, since she didn't deem it too cold to have it on. The bright sun shined in her eyes, so she took her sunglasses out of her purse and placed them on with a smile. She turned to her right and saw Peggy doing the same, both sunglasses-covered eyes meeting each other.
"Shall we go, Agent Dewitt?"
"Lead the way, Agent Carter."
