Thanksgiving
Love to eat turkey
'Cause it's good
Love to eat turkey
Like a good boy should
'Cause it's turkey to eat
So good
~The Thanksgiving Song ~ Adam Sandler~
...November 25, 2010...
It's been a few days since I found that Robin and Richy are the same people. That also means that Bruce is Batman and they know that Selina is Catwoman. Which also means that Catwoman and Batman dated. A cat and a bat. Then I visualized this.
I found that hilarious because cat and bat rhymes but then got sad because of the blackmail Catwoman's using on me.
After thinking about it, I realized I should've noticed the resemblance between Robin and Richy sooner. Black hair, vivid blue eyes, same height and build, both go to Gotham and takes family studies as well as chorus, how they sounded the same when they sang, how Richy and Artemis were gone when the team went on a mission I didn't want to go on, how Barbara told the three of us were all gone the same days, both are 13, how when Robin got hurt Richy was walking funny the next day in school, the week my parents tortured Robin and Richy was absent, how Wally would make jabs at Robin whenever something involved Bruce Wayne, etc.
I haven't left the house, sitting in the empty house with only the hyenas to keep me company as my parents are away the whole week. The team has been calling me to see if I'm okay, but I never pick up. I haven't gotten much sleep either.
Once again my communicator is going off. I let out a long annoyed groan as I sit up in bed. "Don't they know how early it is?" I rub my eyes a few times to clear them up. Surprise crosses my features at seeing the caller to be Conner. Immediately I turn to my pink haired self and answer. "Conner?"
"M'gann wanted me to call you," Conner admits. "She wants to talk to you."
"Conner, did she pick up?" Megan asks, floating into view. "Bolt! You answered!"
"Yeah..."
"Today is Thanksgiving!"
"Yeah, I know," I grumble.
"We're making Thanksgiving dinner and wanted to invite you if you weren't busy."
I sigh. "Sure, I'll come over. My parents are on a trip for work, so I'm all by myself."
"Then come help Zatanna and me make dinner!"
"Um, sure..." I mumble.
"Yay!" Megan cheers. "Zatanna! Bolt is coming to help!"
"Awesome," comes her faint reply from the kitchen.
"See you soon then!" Megan smiles before hanging up.
I toss the communicator to the side and slump onto my pillows. "It's too early..."
After taking my time to fully wake up, I enter the cave a few hours later.
"Recognized: Bolt, Bo8."
Wally speeds up to me, skidding to a stop. "You know who Robin is?"
My eyes widen. "He told you?"
"Duh, he is my best friend even without the mask."
I sigh. "Yeah."
"Sweet! This is so awesome! We have so much to talk about!" Wally cheers. "But we gotta do that some other day. I gotta go have Thanksgiving with my parents. See ya!"
"Um, alright, bye."
"Recognized: Kid Flash, B03."
Conner and Wolf are the next to greet me. "We'll be back. The girls are in the kitchen."
They leave and before I head to the kitchen, Wally reappears.
"Hey, my parents wanted me to ask you if you want to have Thanksgiving with us?" Wally asks.
"R-really?"
"Yeah, so you coming?"
"Is B-Barry gonna be there?" I hesitantly ask.
"He's in a meeting with the rest of the league, so he won't arrive until really late. You can leave before then if you want. Why are you so nervous around Flash?"
I ignore the question. "I'm going to tell Megan and Zee. I'll be back."
~~~
Before leaving with Wally, I turn my clothes into a comfy blue sweater dress. Instead of sunglasses, I have a matching blue domino mask to hide my eyes.
~~~
Wally and I arrive at his house after a few minutes, and we walk into the kitchen to be greeted by his mom.
"She agreed!" Wally tells her, presenting me with a show of his hands.
I chuckle.
"It's nice to meet you, Bolt," she greets. "My name is Mary, Wally's mom."
"But you can't call her Mary!" Wally huffs. "You're in the speedster family, so you can call her of something family related."
My eyes widen. "R-really?"
"Definitely," Wally confirms with an enthusiastic nod.
Well, she is supposedly my aunt... "How about aunty?"
She smiles. "Whatever works for you. I'm fine with that."
"Where's dad?" Wally asks.
"He should be back any minute now with Iris," she says. "He went to pick her up from the train station about half an hour ago."
I turn to Wally. "You didn't tell me Iris was gonna be here."
"I didn't think it'd be a big deal," he shrugs. "Come on." He grabs my wrist. "I'll show you my room."
"So, do I get to call you cuz now?" I ask as we head up the stairs.
He lets out a laugh. "Sure, cuz."
"So, this is your room?" I confirm, looking around. "Huh, thought you'd have more red and yellow colors."
"Ha. Ha," he mocks, rolling his eyes. "My favorite color is green."
"Obviously, almost everything in here is green," I say, glancing at his bed sheets to his green wall to his carpet. I smirk. "You know what else is green?"
"What?"
"Artemis' suit."
"Bolt!"
"Eehehehe," I giggle, falling back on his bed. "Couldn't help myself."
He falls back beside me with a sigh. "So, how'd you find out that Dick and Robin were the same person?"
"It wasn't hard to narrow it down once you know Batman funds the league and Robin is his adopted son. Black hair and blue eyes and he goes to Gotham Academy. Only one person I know who fits that description."
"Yeah, that makes sense," he agrees.
It's silent for a moment.
"Your bed is really comfy," I admit. "I'm about to fall asleep."
"You can fall asleep after we eat," he says. "We should get stuffed." He snickers. "Get it?"
"Yeah, I got your pun you dork."
"Mom makes a lot of food. Enough to fill 5 speedsters."
"That's a lot," I say with some surprise. "I didn't think that was possible."
"Yeah, it's great..." he practically drools.
The doorbell rings off.
"Wally, my hands are full, can you get that?" his mom shouts out.
"Yeah!" he shouts back, grabbing my wrist. "Come on."
"I don't wanna..." I groan as I'm dragged down the stairs behind him.
Wally opens the door to reveal an old couple.
"Who are they?" I ask.
"He was the first Flash," Wally tells me. "You never heard of the Crimson Bullet?"
"Not till now," I say, looking up at the man.
He smiles at me and holds out his hand for me to shake. "I'm Jay Garrick and this is my wife, Joan."
I shake his hand, feeling the speedster shock from him. "Nice ta meetcha. I'm Bolt."
"So, you have the speedster gene too," he grins. "Guess you're part of the family now."
I nod.
Until they learn that you've killed.
Jean smiles at me. "I'd give you a hug, but my hands are full at the moment."
We move out of the way for them to come into the house. Joan walks into the kitchen to set down her tray of covered food. Jay gives a wave to us as he follows her. A car pulls up and out comes Iris and Wally's dad. Iris pulls out a tray of her own food.
"Nice to see you again, Bolt," Iris says as she passes me to head in the kitchen.
"Looks like she agreed to come," Wally's dad says, looking to me. "I'm Wally's dad, Rudy. I've heard a lot about you, Bolt."
"I bet you've heard more about Artemis," I grin, shaking his outstretched hand.
"Oh, he talks about her more than anyone."
"Dad!"
"Oh, really?" I grin.
"Oh, I just remembered we have something to do!" Wally says, pulling me away back to his room. I turn to him with a smirk as he closes the door behind him. "Shut up."
"I didn't even say anything."
"It's written all over your face."
"No, I'm just wondering what something was that had to be in your room. I didn't know we'd be those cousins."
His face turns to match his hair. "Bolt!"
I burst out laughing, falling back onto his bed. "I'm just messing with you! So, you got any video games up here?"
After about half an hour of playing on his Xbox, the doorbell rings again.
Wally pauses the game. "I'll be right back." He speeds out the room.
I lean back onto my hands, wondering how many people are going to show up to this West Thanksgiving. "I wouldn't have come if I knew so many people were coming..."
"It's about time you got here, we've been waiting," Wally's voice comes from the hallway.
"We've?" a voice returns.
The door creaks open. "Yeah, me and Bolt."
The door is opened and staring back at me is Robin or should I say Richy. Standing there slightly dressed up is Richy, no sunglasses for once.
My eyes widen, not knowing where to look. My sight settles on Wally who I then glare at. He throws his hands up sheepishly.
"Bro!" Robin huffs at him.
"It's past time that you two made up," Wally says. "It's making our team more difficult. Everyone is worried and confused about you two."
"It's not your place to decide when we should make up," I huff, crossing my arms in annoyance.
"It is when it involves anyone on our team," Wally says, turning around. "I'll leave you two alone." He leaves the room and shuts the door behind him. "You're not aloud to come out until you've made up! I've blocked the door off."
"He does realize that we could easily get out of this room, right?"
"Idiot..."
I turn my back to him, thoughts racing through my head. It's silent between the two of us for many minutes. Robin moves to sit in a chair near him, keeping his distance.
"This is so stupid..." I murmur to myself, crossing my arms.
It's quiet for a few minutes.
"I don't know what you want me to say," he speaks. "There's a reason why I kept my identity a secret same as you keep yours."
"The reason I keep my identity a secret is way different than your situation," I retort.
"Obviously, your sister is Jester or Aura," he scoffs. "There's not any record of you and her being born together. It's like you don't exist."
"Reason behind a secret identity," I huff.
"It's only fair that I should know yours if you know mine."
"I figured yours out and you can do the same with mine," I scoff.
"Whatever." He rolls his eyes.
"Whatever yourself."
The silence returns.
"I don't understand why you're so angry at me," he continues.
I turn to him annoyed. "I'm mad because I know exactly who you are. Two friends who are different that's actually the same person! Two people rolled into one! It's weird because I–" I cut myself off as my eyes widen. The two people I flirt with is the same person. How did I not realize this was why I was angry?
"Because you what?" he asks.
I quickly turn away from him feeling my face heat up. Because I have a crush on you... "T-this is my fault. Sorry. I didn't mean to blow up at you. Your identity just came as a shock. I needed time to absorb that information."
"How so?"
"We go to the same school," I admit, pulling my legs to my chest and burying my face in my knees. "It's just weird to think of you as Robin. I just... Sorry. I'm sorry I overreacted. I'm not mad anymore."
I hear him stand up from his chair to sit on Wally's bed in front of me.
"I forgive you," he says. "I'm sorry too."
"You have nothing to be sorry for," I grumble, looking into his gorgeous blue eyes.
He chuckles. "You're cute when you blush."
I can tell by his laugh that my face just got brighter and I bury my face in my knees again. "Don't use my tactics against me..."
"I don't know what you're talking about," he grins, holding out his hand. "Come on, let's go downstairs."
"But, Bruce–"
"Isn't here," he says. "He's in a meeting with the league. My butler is here. He's good at keeping secrets."
I place my hand in his and he pulls me up. I go straight into a hug.
The door behind us opens and Wally enters. "It's been a while I'm checking in." He looks at us. "Oh, am I interrupting something?"
I release Richy and look to Wally. "You know, Wally, you really shouldn't leave a girl and a guy in a bedroom alone together. We could've done some really nasty things to your green sheets."
"Bolt!" Richy and Wally shout.
I snicker, moving out the door and waving behind me. "See you two downstairs."
"Wait!" they call out, trampling after me.
Richy comes to my side. "Let me introduce you to Alfred." He grabs my hand and pulls me into the kitchen with the other adults. "Alfred." Said man turns to me, raising an eyebrow. "This is Bolt. She knows who I am and can you promise not to tell Bruce?"
"Of course, my lips are sealed," Alfred says, his British accent ringing through smoothly. "Nice to meet you, Bolt."
We shake hands. "Likewise."
~~~
Dinner time rolls around and the large spread of food makes my eyes widen.
"What'd I tell you?" Wally smirks.
"You weren't kidding," I gasp.
The sound of the front door distracts me.
"I'm home and I brought along Bruce! Sorry for the long wait."
My panicked eyes are noticed by both Richy and Wally. Wally races up to his room, grabs a large hoodie, and shoves it over my body. I pull the hoodie over my head to my nose, tucking all my hair in the back.
Barry enters the dining room with Bruce following behind. They both give me a curious glance.
"This is my friend, Bo... Bolivia!" Wally says. "Her parents are on a business trip, so I invited her."
"Nice to meet you," I wave, keeping my head down.
"Uh, you too," Barry says. "I'm Barry, Wally's uncle. This is Bruce."
"Hello."
"Well, let's eat!" Barry says, clapping then rubbing his hands together. "Everything looks great!"
This was one awkward Thanksgiving I'll never forget.
