Chapter 9 - Igneous ✔️

            — 3 days later... —

Igneous stifled a groan. It had been days since their close encounter of being caught. TruthSeeker had, miraculously, survived the harsh night. Against, literally, all odds. WindWings flying by every minute it felt like. Harsh weather that she could even feel in the cave, along with swirling winds and a bleeding open wound. Her father had not killed her yet, but she doubted that the dragon could last another day. That bag was probably the only thing that kept her alive that night. They were getting so close, she could almost see it, yet it felt like they were walking for hours. She glanced at the chained up WindWing. He had stayed conscious after seeing TruthSeeker being tied to a tree, almost either refusing to be knocked out or he just has a thick head. They had traveled by talon since then.
In the present, her father was carrying the two WindWings on his back. TruthSeeker was unconscious while the male was keeping her on top of her fathers back. Clearly he knew that there was no escaping this. She had checked Truth's injuries last night while her father and the male were sleeping. She had broken a wing along with a huge gash in it, but it would heal. If her father didn't treat her that harshly again. It didn't really matter anyway. The male was going to die a while after they got there and the female would be kept as bait for getting her father and then they would win the war. Simple, hopefully. Both her and her father knew that it was easier said then done. There were many problems with what the StoneWings planned for her.
Granite huffed and looked up at the sky, probably watching for WindWings, as usual. She, meanwhile, stifled a grown and raced up the hill. Her father growled lightly but raced after her, throwing the WindWings off of him in the middle of the hill. TruthSeeker, thankfully, had landed on her right with her broken wing, or the most bloodily part of the bag, facing the sky and the male was right next to her, lying on the ground, sunbathing with their tails entwined.
Her father roared playfully and tackled her to the ground, laughing. Igneous shot out from underneath him and jumped back at him, both of them nipping at each other while rolling down the hill in almost slow motion. Once they reached the bottoms Granite grabbed her by her arms and held her up, easily holding her. She growled at him and he pulled her into a hug, well, more like a tight squeeze. She muttered her complaints and wiggled out, falling onto the ground and stretched out her wings. Her father glanced at the WindWings multiple times before giving in and lying next to her, stretching his wings, that went over her entire wingspan and body, but by just barely. After a while her father got up and looked ahead.
".....we should be getting going, little inchworm. It's getting late." And they were off again.
.       . . . . .
Igneous lifted her head to look into the night sky. It was almost midnight. Great. Her mother, and the whole tribe, probably thought that they were dead and were doing their burial by now. Her father took off into the night sky, and she trailed behind him. They then both dive-bombed into a winding tunnel where guards here posted around every turn and loop. After what felt like a mile of flying through the tunnels they finally entered the Dome. It was a dome with a huge palace carved on the inside and doors in almost every crack around the dome. There were multiple other winding tunnels and passageways connecting to it, for getting to training places and schools, along with the prison. Crystals and diamonds stuck out of some places, created by their last and only animus Diamond, who had also carved and tunneled the entire place, drawing it for days until it was prefect. Many floating glowing crystals and fungus roamed the caves for light, and the stone was to never be broken unless needed to be by dragon claws. It was gorgeous. It was her home. She quickly grabbed a light crystal (note! Just realizing that this sounds like the IceWing's palace.. uhh sorry about that, didn't mean to make that reference, all credits go to Tui for that build, not trying to steal her ideas. MOVING ON!)and flew with her father towards the palace. Compared to the WindWings palace, it felt like nothing. Small shelves of books were around every few turns. (Diamond didn't like designing the palace except for the throne, saying that it wasn't her job to decorate a Kings house, especially changing kings, so she had left it mostly open. She died of an assassination a while after that. The assassin was never caught to this day, but most StoneWings feel like the WindWings did it, though no further evidence was found.)
The male eyed her nervously as they walked down hallway after hallway. Once she began to think there was no throne room a large room came into sight. The WindWing tensed and seemed to shrink lower, his tail around the female.
Poor guy.. she caught herself thinking and scratched herself. No! If your father sees more sympathy for them he will personally display their guts with or without King Legend's permission! Snap out of it! Her father eyed Igneous as she began muttering swares, so she shut up. They were ten talon steps away from the kings throne room. Seven. Five. Four. One.
She went through and saw Legend sitting in his throne intimidatingly. The WindWing cowered more than before, which she didn't know was possible. Her father placed the bag and the male in front of him and bowed, eyeing her to do the same. She also bowed, but mostly because she didn't want to be WindWing dinner. Legend was ginormous. He was two head lengths larger than her father and had a small wingspan, so he probably couldn't fly. He was dark grey, but very close to black. His eyes matched perfectly with his body color, making him look like a huge blob. It only made him look extra - terrifying. He had many iron earrings on his ears and had a single iron necklace on his neck, fitting smugly. In the front it got wider and had one huge diamond on it, making it more expensive then every jewelry she ever bought. He also had a spiky golden crown with multiple diamonds embedded in it, also diamonds on the top of the three points. You could buy an island with that. Two guards sat next to him.
Legend slowly got up and walked in front of them. Stopping before he stepped on them.
"Rise." He said in a low booming voice. Her father slowly got up and pulled her up with him. She tried to roar in protest, but looking at the King she only let out a small squeak. She knew that Granite hated the King for his personality. He would treat other dragons like peasants and kill who he thought was necessary or when he was in a bad mood. He was terrifying. Though he was good with war strategy and battle planning, also he had a particularly odd obsession with using leverage, which made him quite predictable. He had been trying to get TruthSeeker's father and TruthSeeker for over three years. Only once had they gone actually into SwiftRunner's house but somebody was home so they failed, thankfully weren't caught.
Legend cast a glance at Granite and her father pointed at the sack. The King muttered some things and looked back at his guards.
"Take both of them to the dungeon. Tell them nothing about.... it. We will kill the male in two days. It will be a ceremony for winning the war. Make sure his mouth is always tied when near her. When she wakes up..... get her food. We need her alive." He looked back at her dad.
"Come back in an hour. I will have a reward for you then. Leave now." Granite nodded and motioned her towards the door.
"Your daughter will stay here for a while. I will send her back.. later." Her father froze but nodded and left the room, his body tense. Legend looked back at her.
"Who are you, daughter of Granite?" He asked her softly.
"I am Igneous of the StoneWings. Daughter of Granite and Emerald. Spy or assassin, I guess, in training. Apprentice of Granite. Child of Stone." The King stared intensely at her, as if she was a puzzle.
"What did you think of capturing those two WindWings?" He asked her. Igneous had a flashback of TruthSeeker in the closet with her, wrapping her tail with hers. She was afraid. Then something hit her hard. She didn't hate WindWings. They were just like her. They were scared of dying. They were scared of who they thought was the enemy. They knew that if they didn't kill the StoneWings, that we would kill them.
"Uhm, they're very active, and uh, kind of annoying as well..?" She saw him usher her to continue. "...they are very pretty, but demons! One of them, uh, slept on my father! And the other almost got us caught!" She growled under her breath to make it more believable. King Legend looked at her with either the this child Is hysterical! look or she really thinks that she could outsmart ME?! Look. Igneous hoped it was the first one.
"Thank you for your time." He growled and ushered for some guards to come to him, whispering in their ears.
"Oh, before you go, the guards will escort you to see the two WindWings and to have a final chat before we, uh, dispose of them." He smiled at her and flicked his tail. In response the three guards walked up to her. She knew who they were, all a year older than her, but she had seen her brother Rock playing with them once. The one who was in front of her right now was Chalk, very Boulder-y but nice, kind of. Very leader like. He was light grey but a couple shades darker then her.
The female on her right was Gem, she was practically black and black eyes. Also had an emerald necklace that was probably all of her life savings. She liked to cook, read, and punch things. Mostly punching things.
And on her left was Shale. He was nice, just dark grey. He likes reading and writing short stories, also fanfics. He was good at them too. Shipping was his main appetite.
Shale grunted and stepped on Gem's tail, snickering as Gem jumped and muttered some words none of them should know. She looked around in case anyone was watching and straight up socked him in the face, right on his cheekbone. He fell back and put a talon on where she had hit him which was quickly turning red, muttering some swears in return. He also quickly looked around and jumped at Gem, each of them throwing blows at each other and chasing each other down the hall like dragonets, shrieking and laughing hysterically.
Chalk ushered her away, taking the lead and glancing at the two every once and a while, smiling, clearly taking notes on their relationship for fanfics. Finally they got to the jail, and she quickly found the WindWings with the most heavily guarded security she had ever seen. At least a dozen dragons were watching them. Chalk began to quietly talk to some of the guards while two of them opened the cell for her.
Uhhhhh that was a bit long sorry! Enjoy!
