Beetle Mania Part 1
(By the way, yes, I know that this chapter doesn't fit in with the episode, since the Tarron's have literally just met Stuart, but I really like this episode [It's my FAVORITE!!!], so please just roll with it. And also, I know that there are some differences in this story and the series, but I'm to lazy to make them fit. So, yeah...)
"It's been about a month since I met Krel, and now we're thick as thieves. Turns out, he doesn't know a lot of things about Earth, including idioms, other parts of speech, and their basic technology, so I've been helping him with that. I've also learned some things about his country, Cantaloupia. Apparently, it has no trees or plants, and it has very advanced technology. So, it's sort of like my home planet. Well, not exactly my planet, Akiridion-4, but Akiridion-5, the smart planet.
Hanging out with Krel and his sister, Aja, has brought me back into a reminiscing period, where I'll suddenly get flashbacks of my old life whenever they say something that reminds me of home. Even their grandpa, Varvatos Vex, reminds me of some sort of Royal Guard. And I still feel like I've heard the surname 'Tarron' before. I sometimes just sit in my room and stare at the wall, filled with drawings of my old planet (since I wasn't able to bring pictures with me when I fled), and think about the past. It's not a very good old life, but it is part of me.
The kids at school have been picking in me way less now. I think it may be because Krel got Aja to threaten them within an inch of their lives if they picked on me ever again. She's pretty cool for a popular kid.
Oh, and another thing: I've been hanging out with Stuart, too. You know, the burrito truck guy? Yeah, well, I don't go out of my way to talk with him, but whenever Krel and I walk together after school, he sometimes goes to Stuart's electronic store and chat for a while. Anyway, I think Stuart is onto me. How he's onto me, I dunno, but he's been acting really weird around me, giving me evil looks, and even discreetly blocking Krel and Aja from me, like some sort of bodyguard.
Well, that's all for now. I need to go eat breakfast and head to school. Did you know? I'm having a sleepover with Krel! Well, technically Aja, since I'll be sleeping in her room.
Bye!"
_________
I put my pencil down and closed my journal. I got up off of my bed and slipped the detailed history if my life underneath the mattress. With a content sigh, I left the room.
In the kitchen, a short elderly woman with bright red hair streaked with gray sat at the table, sipping on a cup of coffee.
"Toast." Axalan said, pushing the plate towards me.
"Thanks, Axalan." I replied, grabbing a piece and munching on it.
"Are you still sleeping over with your friend?" My nurse asked, eying my schoolbag distastefully. She never did want me to leave her and go to school, but I kinda had to.
"Yes, Axalan. I'm still going."
"Be careful. Did you remember-"
"My Gastrak? Of course I did." I replied, holding up a thing pencil. A Gastrak was A-4's most advanced hand weapon. I think our scientists got the idea from Akiridion-5, from a serrator, I think? I don't really know, because who pays attention to what their parents say when they're 10 years old?! Anyway, Gastraks can change shape, so I made mine unto a pencil, so it looks harmless.
"Be careful." She repeated, taking another sip of her coffee. I don't know how she likes that stuff. It tastes like Larvox crap.
"I will be." I promised, shoving the rest of the toast in my mouth as I grabbed my bag and walked out the door "See you later!"
And so I walked to school.
_______
"Hey!" Cried Krel as he saw me at my locker "What is up, friend?"
"Hey, Krel." I replied with a smile "Are you ready for Ms. Janeth's math test today?"
Krel gave me a look "Of course I am ready. Why would I not be?" He laughed "Who knows? Maybe I'll get a question wrong today!"
I pretended to be shocked as I gasped "Not the great and all-knowing Krel Tarron! The world will end the day he gets a question wrong!"
"Woah, my little brother got a question wrong?" Aja asked, appearing out of nowhere "It must be the music from the box of boom."
"Box of Boom?" I repeated, raising an eyebrow
"A 'boom-box'" Krel explained "Stuart gave it to me this morning. Cool, right?"
I made a non-committal hum "Very cool." the bell rang, and I grabbed his arm "C'mon, let's go to class, or we'll be late."
________
In Ms.Janeth's class, the lights were turned off, and the projector was on. She put the test questions, four in total, on the projector and sat back down
"The test is beginning." She said
"Finished." Krel said next to me, getting up
"Calculators out, my little parabolas." Ms.Janeth continued, clearly oblivious to the fact that one student was already done.
"Ms. Janeth," Mary said in a whining voice from behind me "I think someone's dog ate my calculator."
I turned around and looked at her calculator. It was indeed chewed-up, but a dog couldn't get into the school, right? And why would it eat a calculator for heaven's sake?
I looked around for Krel, who had disappeared. A loud BANG came from the back of the room.
As one, everyone in the class looked back, where Krel was stomping on the projector, which he had apparently just knocked over.
What in the-
"Mr. Tarron!" Ms.Janeth cried in anger "Please remain in your seat!"
Krel looked up at the ceiling, and got a worried look on his face. Muttering excuses, he began to take phones and calculators from our classmates. When he got to me, he whispered "Go back home. You don't want to be here right now."
"Why not?" I asked, alarmed by the anxious look on his face.
"Trust me." he begged "Please. You don't wanna see what's about to happen here."
"No way." I said "We're friends, and so we'll deal with things together, right?"
He opened his mouth, but then two large...cockroaches? Flew down from the ceiling.
Pandemonium occured, and in all the commotion, Krel flew out the door.
Naturally, I followed after him, but from a distance.
He was hurriedly talking to his sister, when an announcement to go home came over the intercom.
Krel glowered at his sister, oddly enough, when Darci and Shannon encircled her with smiles on their faces before running off, to go home apparently.
Krel and Aja took off in the crowd, and I lost sight of the chocolate brown hair and the blonde head easily.
I decided to wait until the hallways were empty, which was only a couple of minutes.
And then the power went out
Crap, crap, CRAP!!!!
"...found the power generator." I heard a worried voice say far away.
I followed the voice. The odd accent sounded like Krel's.
"What are you doing?!"
"Calling Vex for help before my phone gets eaten!"
Hey, what do ya know? It was Krel. And Aja.
I chuckled quietly, thinking, Ha, nerds. Hanging out at school even when they cancelled school. But hey, what can I say? I'm still here, too.
Their voices faded, and I peeked around the corner, where I thought I heard them. They were gone. I took a step to follow them, and a scuttling sound stopped me in my tracks. Looking behind me, a bright luminescent beetle stared up at me from the ground.
I fell over in shock. That. Was. A. Akiridion. Bug.
That-Was-A-Akiridion-Bug!
THAT!IS!A!AKIRIDION!BUG
OHMYGOSHTHAT'SANAKIRIDIONBUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.
My breathing was out of control, and I was surprised that the walls didn't shake from my fantastic heartbeat. My mind raced with wild thoughts.
That's a skelteg- what's it doing here- oh, my gosh, don't they eat electronics? Holy crap, that's what Krel was stomping on in math class- wait, does he know what they are? No, impossible, Krel just reminds me of an Akiridion, he's not actually one.
And my mind went blank as something hit my head.
Krel's Pov
"Aja!" I cried, kneeling next to the figure that my hit-first-ask-questions-later sister just hit. My heart sank.
"You just knocked out Luna." I said "What is she still doing here?"
"Well, she's your friend." Aja replied "She probably wanted to stay and help. Oh, by the way, is she okay? I probably should have looked before I swung the 'bat'"
I glared at her "Yes, fortunately for you. She's just unconscious."
"Okay, good. We should leave her here, and come back for her when we have eliminated this skelteg problem."
I shook my head "No. I'll carry her." I grabbed Luna's arms and pulled, then dropped her back down. "Nevermind, I will just put her in a classroom for now. But promise me you'll come back and help me with her?"
"Sure, little brother." she said, grabbing Luna and hoisting her up onto her shoulders, making her way to the nearest classroom.
I followed, thinking of where the Skeltegs would have gone to make a nest, and how to fix this predicament....
