•Chapter 7: Two Rings•

She was perfect, but I knew I didn't stand a chance against everyone who loved her. I had my art skills and my voice but everyone had things much greater. Dawn was beautiful, with auburn hair and emerald green eyes that sparkled in the sunlight. Tall and powerful, and always spoke the truth. At least, that's what I thought when I first fell head over heels for her. Now, she was behind bars, because she had killed someone making it look like a suicide. That was then, in the small town of Sweetwater, once she had gone free, I was the first who she approached.

Complete darkness with only the faint glow  of the moon had shined as I was dragging her back to my car in the heavily pouring rain as I ignored her cries, she had caused me enough trouble and this makes it worse. I finally gave in when we had reached my car.

"I-I wasn't in the right state of mind, Braxton. . . I'm sorry-"

"Sorry doesn't bring him back, now does it?" I snapped at her, unlocking my car and soon opening the door. She opened the passenger door and got in my car while I just stood there for a moment then I proceeded to get in the driver's seat and we both closed our doors, and put on our seat buckles.

". . ." She didn't speak. Good, just what I wanted to hear, complete silence. I felt so mad at her, she had killed someone and they let her off the hook. He was such a cool guy, poor Derek didn't deserve death at his age.

". . ." I didn't say anything nor did I want to speak with her. A scared guy was Derek, afraid of everything and the world, after his friend's death. . . Well nothing had changed, his fears became worse each passing day and nobody could stop him from what he had done, no one could stop Dawn either.

"Braxton. . . ?" She whispered to me, still not facing me. I hummed a response and she took a deep breath, "I understand if you don't want to forgive me and talk to me, that's fair. . . But thank you for helping me out."

"Yeah, whatever, don't think much of it." I mumbled back to her, keeping my eyes on the road as I drove to my home address, apparently nobody in her family wanted her so she begged to stay with me. I reluctantly agreed and I dreaded the day I would have to bring her to my house. And the day came, it was March 14th at 3 a.m which was a 'great' time to pick up a criminal.

"I'm being serious Braxton, thank you so much for helping me out. Is there any way I can repay you for your generosity. . . ?" She finally glanced at me with her pleading question, a mixture of questioning and hope in her dull green eyes. I sighed, hopless.

"Just. . . Just give me some time to think, okay?"

Her face immediately beamed as she smiled, "Okay!"

"And speaking of which, we're here." I said, parking my car in my driveway. I turned off the engine and unbuckled myself and so did Dawn. We both opened the doors and closed them and headed towards my macha green tea coloured house. Two stories, three if you count the basement.

"What a pretty house, I really like the colour you chose." She commented, looking at the wallpaper on my house. Did I love her? No, what she has done is unforgivable, though I might have an idea.

"Thanks, it kinda reminds me of Sam." Sam Jones, another person who was murdered a few months ago, the poor guy was 22 and went missing around the age of 18. No one has heard from him since, until February 18th when he was found mostly dead and missing a good chunk of his body. Though when the police showed up, his body was gone. They say where he grew up, he was always fond of shades of green and that's why I chose it, in memory of him.

"I don't remember who that is, but he sounds nice." Her tone of voice sounding strange to me, like she was lying. I walked in front of her, pulled out my keys and unlocked the door. Opening it up, I allowed her to go in first which she did, with a petite smile. I groaned before walking into my own home, closing the door before I heard the familiar shout of a small puppy.

"Yip! Yip yip! Woof woof woof wooof!" I immediately bent down and the puppy ran into my hands.

"Oh hello Tommy! Oh, it's so good to see chu again, yes it is, yes it is!" Tommy nuzzled my chest and immediately barked at Dawn, before jumping onto her foot playfully.

New hooman! New friend! Les play togefer!

"Oh hehehe, hello little guy!" She, too, bent down and let Tommy take in her smell before yipping again. She began to laugh at his joyful barking and so did I.

"That's my dog, Tommy Gun," I said between gasps from laughing so hard, "He loves new people, he's a beagle German shepherd mix."

I still don't trust her. . .

[. . .]

I immediately shot up from my bed, looking around frantically only to realize. . . I'm still in Elsewhere. I looked at my hands, wide-eyed and noticed that there was a faded splotches of blood on my fingertips. Shaking my head, I wiped off the blood onto my pants and looked at the faint glow from the bottom of my door. The other members were still awake, all I wanted was to get a bit of rest before I finish the art project I was doing.

Wait. I remembered something from when I was alive. Dawn, she was a criminal who had killed Derek Blair. I remember it now, but now another has come to my mind. . .

How does Dusty know her? No matter, I'll figure it out when the time comes, I just gotta be patient.

And see through time. . .

Everyone here has some sort of power that's connected to them. But what's mine?I want to know. . .

"Hey Will, are you okay?" Someone called from near my door.

"Yeah. . . I just need Braxton. It's time to get his picture done. . ."

My. . . What-?
