It was 14 February when Ash dumped me. That dirty bastard! He knows how much Valentine's day means to me and that I've been waiting for it for an entire year. Yet, my ex-boyfriend, despite knowing all this, dumps me on Valentine's Day.
I clenched my hands into fists as I glared at his rugged face and into his brown eyes. "You could've waited till tomorrow. You know how much this day means to me."
"And I mean nothing to you?" He asked me, incredulously. Ash rolled his eyes. "See? This is why I'm breaking up with you. A normal person would have been more upset about us breaking up instead of pouting over the fact that you got dumped on Valentine."
"So, you're saying that I'm not normal?" I folded my arms across my chest. "And you are?"
He smacked his forehead. "That isn't the point."
"Yeah, the point is that you fucking dumped my sorry ass on Valentine!"
I turned on my heel and ran away from him. I didn't hear him coming after me and when I glanced over my shoulder, he wasn't there.
After crying my eyes out for two hours, I made my way home and slammed the front door shut. My parents were away on a business trip so no one was home. That's just what I needed. Some solitude so that I could plot my revenge against Ash. Maybe I should drug him and cut his manhood off?
No. Too much?
No way! The bastard deserved it.
"You appear to be troubled."
I rolled my eyes. Of course, I wouldn't be alone. Thanks to the boy sitting on my bed, with his legs crossed underneath him. His head was tilted to the side, his golden eyes curious. Scotieh was his name and he was an alien who happened to be crashing at my place for a while. Cliche much?
But there was none of that spaceship crap. Scotieh told me that he and his people could easily teleport and would reach their destinations in the blink of an eye. And he wasn't green and didn't have any antennas either. He told me that humans and aliens weren't that different in physical forms but their brains were more advanced than ours.
The reason he was here, on Earth, was because of his studies. Yes, Scotieh had a subject in his "school" that focused on the study of us normal human beings. And this was simply a way to study us more closely by direct interaction.
The reason I knew all this was because Scotieh can't keep a secret and that I can be pretty forceful at times. However, he didn't have to worry about me leaking out his secret because honestly, who would believe me? He looked like a normal boy except the glowing, golden eyes.
"Yeah," I muttered under my breath, closing my bedroom door behind me. I was more than just troubled.
"You also seem unhappy," he observed.
I nodded. "That too."
"You also look-"
"Okay, okay!" I interrupted him. "I look like hell, happy?"
He tilted his head further at my outburst. "What is the reason of your unhappiness?"
I shrugged and gestured for him to get off of my bed. He did and I sat down, sighing.
"Are you unhappy for no reason?"
I laid down on my back and pulled the covers to my chest. I didn't say anything for a while and sighed again. "Ash fucking dumped me."
Scotieh frowned. "Your foul language bothers me."
I turned my face towards him. "That's what you're worried about? My stupid language?"
"I am unaware of any languages that are stupid. They all have their own origins and human beings respect their mother languages. You should treat yours with respect as well and-"
"Shut up before I shove a banana up your ass," I warned him.
He tilted his head again. "Bananas are used for eating and not shoving up human being's butt region. It would be quite impossible to shove a banana up a human being's but-"
"Okay, okay! I get it," I interrupted him, feeling my cheeks warm up. "Now, will you let me sleep?"
Scotieh nodded. "Of course. It is essential for your health." He turned to leave but stopped. "Have you ever tried shoving a banana into one's butt?"
"Scotieh, I-"
"I haven't studied anything like this before. I would like to see how the experiment goes. Would you mind if I tried it on you?"
I pointed towards the door. "Out. Now."
----
The next day, I decided to stay inside all day and be gloomy like I was mourning someone's death. The death of my love...
When Ashley called me to tell me about how her boyfriend had gotten her chocolates and roses, I snapped at her, saying that she probably called me to rub it in my face. Then, I had to spend the next hour explaining to Scoteih that it was just a figure of speech.
"You seem grumpy," he said, when we were both sitting on the kitchen table and I looked up from my bowl of cereal.
"I am."
"Why?"
"Ash dumped me, remember?"
He smiled, causing me to raise an eyebrow. "You did not use the foul word from yesterday."
I rolled my eyes and continued to eat. "And ya know what's worse?" I asked him. "He dumped me on the fourteenth of all days!"
"Is fourteenth of February a holy day?"
I shook my head. "No. But it is special. People give each other flowers and stuff to express their love."
"Love?"
"Yeah," I mumbled, looking down. "You know, appreciating each other."
Scotieh who was usually chatty was suddenly silent and I looked up at him, wondering what he was thinking now. He seemed to be deep in thought. Then, he stood up from his chair and walked out of the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" I called after him, too exhausted to get up and follow him.
"I will be back shortly," he assured me as he shut the front door and was out of the house. I shrugged and went back to eating. He probably remembered to study something. Oh, God. I hope he didn't go out to shove a banana up someone's ass! If he does that, I hope it's Ash's butt.
After an hour, Scotieh opened the door and came to stand in front of me beside the table. He pushed a rose into a face and I frowned. "What's this?"
"You said that this is a special day and I am gifting you with a rose to show you my appreciation."
"Appreciation for what?"
A smile spread across his lips and his golden eyes twinkled. "I appreciate you."
I stared at him for a while before smiling myself. "You know, you are 24 hours late."
His face fell and I laughed at him. "But I accept your appreciation, nonetheless."
I stood up and wrapped my arms around him. "Thank you, Scotieh."
He didn't return the embrace for a second but then I felt his arms wrap around me too and he spoke into my hair. "You are very welcome."
