Prologue 4: Stuck in Twisted Wonderland

Crowley and the girls headed down the hallway towards the library to see if there was any information about their home or anything that might be able to send them back. With a flick of his wrist, Crowley lit up the library and he quickly got to work, going over from book to book.

The girls stood where they were for a short while as they had no idea where to start, but they knew that they had to do something rather than stand around doing nothing. So they walked from shelf to shelf, each taking a book in their hands and started searching.

The four girls took the time to learn what exactly the place they were in was. They studied the world map where all the names of the kingdoms were displayed. In the northeast, there was the Queendom of Roses and in the west, the Sunset Savanna. To the north, there was the Coral Sea, and there were other places like the Land of Scalding Sands, the Shaftlands and Briar Valley.

Despite the situation they were currently in, as they read through some of this world's histories and cultures, the four girls couldn't help but feel fascinated by how different this world was from theirs.

At least 30 minutes had passed while the five browsed through the library. They've read through nearly every book, flipped through every page, and checked every map in the library, but nothing held a single bit of information about their home world or how to send them back to it.

"There really isn't anything. Not only the world map, but the name of your home isn't written in any history." Crowley said disappointedly as he crossed his arms and recollected his thoughts. The girls were greatly disheartened by the news.

"If we can't even get home... then what are we going to do if we have to stay here?" they all thought sadly. "After all... it's just as the mirror said: we don't belong here..." Crowley then looked at the girls suspiciously. "Are you truly from where you say? You girls aren't lying to me by chance?" he questioned the girls as he stared them down.

The four girls all tensed up as they took a step away from him. Alice quickly shook her head. "Oh, no, Headmaster. I assure you; we would never lie." she said honestly. Crowley looked Alice over and stared deep into her sky-blue eyes.

It was said that the eyes are windows to the soul, and from what he could see, this young girl was telling him the truth. Once again, as a headmaster, he felt a bit ashamed that he should falsely assume such things. Those four girls looked honest enough. There was absolutely no way they could lie about anything.

"Alright, I believe you." he said, nodding. "Looking at all this, you girls may have somehow been brought here from another planet... Or another world due to some mix up." The girls stared at him. "Another world?!" Kira exclaimed. As scary as that sounds, it does explain a few things quite well. A lot of things, actually.

"What did you have on you when you came here?" Crowley asked them. "Do you happen to have anything that can verify your identity, like a driver's license for a magic car, or a slipper...? You four appear to be empty-handed."

The four girls looked down at themselves and checked their pockets, searching for their personal belongings, anything that has their identifications. But then, they realized that none of them have them. They remembered having their schoolbags before the Ebony Carriages took them away.

However, when they woke up in this new world, their bags were nowhere to be found. They had vanished when they were brought here. "...W-We... We don't have our phones..." Alice whispered. "We're...all empty-handed...!"

Her eyes then started to water as a whimper escaped from her throat. "Oh, no... How could I—! My Aunt Helena and my... my sister...!" Before she knew it, Alice started to sob uncontrollably. Jazmin pulled Alice to her side and gently rubbed her arm, attempting to console her friend.

"Oh, there, there, now!" Crowley exclaimed as he quickly pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it over to Alice. "Please dry those tears, my dear. I just can't stand seeing a lovely young lady such as yourself cry."

Alice sniffled as she took the handkerchief and dried her eyes with it. "Thank you..." she whispered. "This is concerning. I can't just let someone who can't use magic to stay at school." Crowley mused with concern. "Does... Does that mean you're gonna kick us out?" Aria asked worriedly.

Crowley gaped at her as if she was crazy. "Oh, perish the thought, my dear!" he exclaimed, startling the girls a bit. "As an educator, I can't just toss four penniless teenagers who have no means of contacting their guardians out on the street, especially four lovely young ladies such as yourselves. For I am gracious."

The four girls heaved a quiet sigh of relief when they heard that. At least now, they have a place to stay for the time being... if there was any. "So what should we do then?" Alice asked. "Is there any place you could allow us to stay for the night?"

"Hmmmm..." Crowley hummed as he started to think before a light bulb shined in his head. "I know!" he exclaimed. "There is an unused building on campus. It was once used as a dormitory in the past so if you can clean it up, you should at least be able to sleep there."

"Used to be? What happened?" Aria asked curiously, but Crowley ignored her question. "For the time being, I shall allow you four to stay there! Then I will look for a way for you to return home." Crowley said as a huge smile spread across his face.

"My graciousness is limitless! I am a model for all educators." He was looking very pleased with himself. "Either that or you're just full of it, birdbrain." Kira thought with a slightly sour expression on her face. Nevertheless, she was grateful that she and her friends would actually be staying somewhere for the night.

"Thank you so much, Headmaster." Alice said gratefully with a bow of her head. "We had better be on our way. Let's head to the dormitory. It may be a bit old but there is a certain charm to it." Crowley said as he started to walk away.

"Oh, surely it's not that bad." Aria said hopefully as they walked out of the library. And so, Crowley led them out of the castle and down the stone path towards the dorm. It wasn't that far from the library and by the looks of it, it was right next to the school.

However, once they reached the tall iron gates of the dorm, the four girls stopped right in their tracks when they saw the dorm itself.
