Episode 1: Pilot

^^^^^^^^^^

Pretty much gonna pick any song from each episode's soundtrack that I personally like or think just fits each episode.

????????

The story begins with a couple driving down one of Mystic Fall's isolate roads, after scheduling a trip to see one of the other town's famous rockstars, they are now driving back with mixed feelings about what they just heard.

"An hour's drive to hear that crap." The male, the driver of the vehicle, rants to his girlfriend for thirty minutes straight, obviously unsatisfied with the time he just spent on listening to.... whatever that song was. "You know, it wasn't even a band, a guy with a guitar." He goes on and on while the female rolls his eyes with an amused look on her face. "An hour each way..."

"He wasn't that bad." She objects with a smile, clearing having had a mental laugh at hearing him complain the entire drive back to town. The male practically scoffs as if saying 'not that bad' is being too nice, even for her.

"He sounded like James Blunt."

"Well, what's wrong with that?"

"We already have a James Blunt. One's all we need." The man explains with a shake of his head, causing his girlfriend to laugh again at the comparison. The fact that he's been able to go that long as well is already enough to make her giggle. It's like the rockstar accidently spat on his beer at point during the show.

"So why did you come?" The female then asks him, after he made it sound like he didn't even want to be there in the first place. The guy doesn't say anything at first, but then something is beautifully drawn into his mind, and he forms it up into words.

"Because I love you." He tells her with a glance and a well-crafted smile. All in all, if this was a Pokémon battle, then it would prove to be supper effective.

"Nicely done." The female quips with a smile. Suddenly, the car starts driving in a cloud of fog that appears ahead of them, causing the driver's vision to get blurry due to the sudden appearance of it.

"What's with all the fog?" The female wonders confused as they drive into it. After all, the news's weathermen said nothing about a thick fog entering the area. It's like it just appeared out of nowhere.

"It'll clear out in a second...."

"LOOK OUT!"

Before the man can react in time, a figure suddenly appears in front of the car before being they brutally run into him. The guy flies over and practically in the air before hitting the concrete road while the driver frantically presses his breaks and turning the wheel around. However, he fails to stop themselves in time. The two are left there trembling with a massive crack in their windshield, trying to process what just happened. "A-Are you okay?" The male asks his girlfriend.

"We just hit someone! Oh my gosh!" The female panics on her end, grabbing her head with both hands as her fingers grip into her hair as the mood between them swiftly changes from happiness to terror. The guy has to take a couple breaths before he finds the next move to make.

"Call for help." The man instructs her before quickly unbuckling himself and getting out of the car. The female goes to do that with shaking hands while the male jogs out towards the unconscious stranger lying in the middle of the road. "Please be alive...." He shudders, thinking with horror in his veins about the consequences of a sudden accident such as this. He kneels down, checking the guy for a pulse, he feels nothing.

"Oh my God...."

Before suddenly being grabbed by the neck.... he can only let out a gasp before the figure switches positions with him at unnatural speed before tearing into his neck.

The female, back in the car, isn't having much luck on her end. She's called the cell two times, but she doesn't get any kind of signal whatsoever. Still mentally panicked, she stumbles out of the car to find her boyfriend. "There's no signal!" She tells him in a scared voice, only to see that he and the figure are no longer where they should be. "Darren?" She calls out, getting no response either. "Darren?!"

Suddenly, something falls onto the roof on the car with a loud thud, and the female turns around to see her boyfriend, with part of his throat torn open and bloodied. She lets out a loud scream of terror before running away towards the opposite direction.

She doesn't last long though, as she's then abruptly pulled into the air....

The Next Morning:

Most students/teens in Mystic falls use the car, bus, bike, or some other means of transportation to get to school, but not Y/N. With half of his life being dedicated to football purely for the sake of finding something in his life that could hold some kind of purpose, he always makes sure that he's at his prime no matter what the day is. Except sick days of course, hitting the bed the second you recognize the symptoms proves to be something helpful as well.

To help encourage him to keep that daily cardio as well as exercise, he's also put himself on a race. So, here he is, hopping over certain obstacles as if it was pure instinct, making easy turns like it's nothing, and keeping his pace no matter how much pain buffs up into his chest. He's going to stay his best no matter what, because he is the best... he's the best.

Ten or so minutes later, he finds himself across the street from the school, and he finishes his run with a massive bolt down the road's bridge. He beats the bus by a mile, as well as his opponent by several seconds. "Oh, son of a...." Tyler Lockwood half-swears before having to take a heavy amount of breaths the second he stops along with him. Y/N manages to let out an uneasy, victorious chuckle despite his lack of air.

"And the first day of school goes to N/N!" Y/N exclaims with a raised fist. "You took the route you said you weren't gonna take again, did you?" He guesses with a knowing brow, to which Tyler just spares him a blank glance that indicates that he's right on the money. "I'm telling you bro, you need to find those shortcuts, it's no wonder me and Matt are always able to ambush you on the field."

"Bite me...." Tyler mutters in response as the two unstrap their phone cases and tuck them into their respective pockets. "A dead bird suddenly fell, and this owner and his stupid dog stopped to gawk at it, cutting me off." He claims with a point, to which Y/N just chuckles. "You simply got lucky."

"Does Vicki say that to you when you manage to last longer than a minute in bed?" Y/N teasingly questions as he then starts heading to class, only to purposefully pose when he gets two steps in. "Oh, that's right.... you haven't had sex yet..."

"That's just because she's still getting used to me." Tyler replies with a scoff as he then puts on his jacket, seemingly acting to not be bothered by it at all when Y/N can tell that it's slightly effecting that ego of his. "All that needs to happen now is for me to put her in the mood, you know?" He states with a cocky smile, causing Y/N to give him a weird look.

"Suddenly, I feel less bad for my summer flings..." Y/N remarks with a playfully concerned voice as they both start heading to class. On their way there, however, Tyler abruptly stops and puts his back hand onto Y/N's chest.

"Speak of the doped princess..." Tyler utters with a massive grin, and Y/N curiously follows his gaze to see none other than Vicki Donovan, currently in a drug exchange with fellow user Jeremy Gilbert, who started developing that habit when his parents were killed in a car accident. He's one of the few people Y/N genuinely feels bad for, compared to himself and the others, who are more 'suffering' from relationship troubles. It makes him feel stupid inside every time he wants to complain about it in front of the Gilberts, because it makes him feel like a hypocrite, and he hates hypocrites.

"Oh boy....." Y/N mumbles to himself as he reluctantly follows, mostly because he doesn't want any hands to be thrown during this little encounter. The second Jeremy hands them to her, Vicki not-so-subtly takes a couple of pills right in front of the square, causing the guy to show some evident nervousness. Though, that's probably more because of how much she just took and less of the location, this specific area is pretty much the unspoken drug spot.

"Hey, Vicki." Tyler calls out as they approach the ex-couple, with Y/N standing guard in the sidelines. "I knew I'd find you here with the crackheads." He remarks with a smirk before stepping closer to his girlfriend.

"Hey..." Vicki softly greets back with a smile, accepting his offer of a side embrace. Y/N can already smell the ex-filled jealousy coming from Jeremy as he eyes them while taking a drag of his weed, making him feel like he's made the smart choice of sticking nearby to ref them both.

"Hey, Pete Wentz called. He wants his nail polish back." Tyler sarcastically jabs at Jeremy, already ruining the good start before it can even begin. The way he practically shows Vicki off as well doesn't help matters either.

"Pete Wentz, huh? How old school TRL of you." Jeremy counters with a little acid remark of his own after he blows out some smoke from his cigarette. "Carson Daly fan?" He playfully queries, pressing the right buttons on Tyler's chest.

"Whoa, whoa! Yellow Card!" Y/N immediately cuts in-between both of them before Tyler can step any closer to Jeremy, already seeing the red and green in both of their eyes. "It's the first day, man, play it cool."

"Careful, Ty, that's Elena's little brother and his personal bodyguard." Vicki quips as she also pulls Tyler back before he can cause trouble in the middle of everyone around. Y/N and Jeremy share a look at the title while Tyler scoffs.

"I don't care who they are. I'll still kick their asses." Tyler boasts to Vicki, before shamelessly kissing her multiple times in front of both of them, causing Y/N to roll his eyes before mentally rolling his eyes.

"Geez, why don't you two strip in front of us while you're at it..." Y/N mutters, to which Tyler breaks away to give him a look.

"Fuck off, dude."

"Gladly." Y/N replies with a look of his own before he turns to his other friend. "Alright, chief, let's go." He advises as he softly takes Jeremy's cig and tosses it the ground before stomping it out with his foot. The little guy gives him a look, but he just taps him on the shoulder and encourages him to the actual school building. "Come on, you know Tyler would've wiped the floor with you..."

"I don't give a shit what he does, a guy like him doesn't deserve Vicki." Jeremy bitterly replies as he follows him. Y/N slowly nods, the poor guy seems to have actually developed a romantic attraction towards the girl that was initially a hookup and it's continuously mocking him the entire day. "You know you don't have to actually be my 'bodyguard' right?"

Y/N sighs as soon as that question comes up, the two of them stopping in the middle of the grass as he simply shrugs in response. "I know, Vicki would get pissed if he actually did that, but....." He pauses, glancing to the side. "Okay, I'm just gonna say it, you're fucking high all the time, that's not good for the brain, which holds your logic.... sense, common sense, that's what it's called."

"Geez, you sound like my sister..." Jeremy grumbles with a mental sigh, causing Y/N to embarrassingly chuckle.

"Sorry, I just don't personally have a younger sister or brother to annoy, so I've chosen you as my substitute." Y/N humorously tells him before lightly punching Jeremy's shoulder with a smile, as if letting the guy know that he's got his back.

"Oh boy..." Jeremy comments with an eye roll, to which Y/N laughs before encouraging the stoner to head to class before he gets himself late on his first day.

Once that exchange is over, Y/N then welcomes himself inside the school's halls, where he makes a quick pitstop to the boy's room where he grabs his team jersey and easily slips it. Then, he heads off to find his locker before class starts. There, he finds Matt Donovan, Vicki's younger brother, with his ear pods in, looking not-to-different than how he did during the summer.

"Sup, Matt." Y/N casually greets as he walks up next to him, opening his locker. Matt doesn't glance at him or nod, making him believe that he simply didn't hear him, but then he sees that he was just distracted by something... Elena Gilbert, Jeremy's sister, standing a few feet away down the hall. She tries giving him a friendly wave, but all Matt does in response is raise his eyebrows before grabbing his books and shutting his locker. "Bad day?"

"What do you think?" Matt replies in a rough tone of voice before swiftly pausing and closing his eyes in self-criticism. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude..." He sheepishly apologizes, clearly still in a bit of small, bitter despair.

"It's cool man, I'm not having much luck either." Y/N admits with a shrug before grabbing his own books as the two walk down the hall together, walloping in their own high school romance misery. "I met another girl during the summer break, but.... it was obvious that, that wasn't gonna last once it ended." He tells him a very similar story, before letting out a sigh. "Honestly, I don't get the whole, 'body count' thing the other guys on the team keep bragging out, I don't feel much pride in scoring a chick's skin like they do."

"That's because you're not Tyler, you actually want something more than a drug addict's 'supply'." Matt points out with a sympathetic look, seemingly a little happy that he's complaining about such a thing. "I thought Elena felt that way too.... guess I was just that naive."

"Man, that's different, you two genuinely thought you were in love, I always know that once a relationship begins, the only thing on our minds is the P in the V." Y/N remarks with a glance, before seeing a familiar blond march past them down the hall. "Well.... except for one."

"Who, Caroline?" Matt queries as he points towards the girl that just passed them. Caroline Forbes, the sheriff's daughter and one of the most famous girls in school. Yeah, one of the football team's best players falling in love with the popular chick, it's an actual thing. And this time, it might be genuine. "You mean, you, like... actually like her?"

"Who? The girl I've known since two years?" Y/N gives a look as if he's an idiot. "Yes, dude, I'm being serious."

"Then.... go for it." Matt encourages, after giving a gesture that pleads for him not to shoot. "It's the beginning of the school, you gotta get a head start before the other onlookers do."

"That's the thing, I can only manage to get three sentences in with her before she gets drawn off into something else." Y/N points out, holding up three fingers to further emphasize how poor his chances are. "Elena, Bonnie, heck, even some random guest that just arrives to some random school event, and Caroline just snaps her fingers and speed-walks towards that direction. It's like I'm simply just a conversation maker."

Matt lets out a small whistle. "Dang, that's rough, but..... there might be hope." He tells Y/N, who gives him a look as if wondering how he should take the recently broken up with kid's advice, no offense intended or anything. "Have you tried gifts?" He then asks him, to which Y/N rolls it over for a moment.

"Uh...." Y/N still thinks about it, before realizing that he's drawing blanks. "Crap, I haven't even tried such a cheesy tactic yet." He utters in realization before face palming at himself. "Oh man.... I suck at actually being romantic..."

"Hey, what happened to my confident player?" Matt questions, actually getting a bit of a smirk back as he lightly punches him. "Come on, it's the first day, which means there's gonna be a back to school party." He then mentions, suggestively hinting at a window of opportunity.

"That's right..." Y/N recalls with a nod, easily catching on. "Would that be a place for a gift, though?"

"That depends, but, more importantly, it'll give you an excuse to just... talk." Matt suggests with a shrug, mostly just offering the best advice he can give. Y/N takes that into consideration before nodding.

"Yeah.... you're right." Y/N says with a now much more confident look. "Today begins the new phase of N/N, no more flings, this one will be the real freaking deal..." He proclaims with small hand gestures, causing Matt to silently chuckle.

"Sounds great...."

Later that day, it's also the first day of practice. And to kick things off, is a couple set of drills before finishing it all with a light skirmish to see where everyone's skill set is at. Whether they have lost a bit of their kink, or have still kept their skill set during the last season, and Y/N's made sure he's stayed at the latter.

At around the last play, Matt swiftly hands the ball to Tyler, who doesn't waste time in rushing down the field, seemingly dodging everyone within a inch of them threatening to tackle. One guy tries to take him from the side, but Tyler easily hops towards the opposite direction, letting the defense eat the fake grass.

However, the second his eye is taken away, he's suddenly tackled down from a corner and put into the ground on his back, therefor ending the third down and the rest of the game. "Like I said, always the same route." Y/N, the man who took Tyler down, quips with a click of his tongue before taking off his helmet and offering a hand. "You gotta at least try to follow the plays."

"I hate you sometimes...." Tyler groans before eventually accepting his help, as Y/N pulls him up back on his feet. Coach Tanner then blows the whistle, calling everyone together as Y/N playfully pats the poor soul down.

"Hey man, football isn't just speed and brawn, it's also brain." Y/N drops a little word of advice to his teammate, pointing a couple fingers towards his forehead. "Just saying, from one player to another. It might help if you only fooled people into thinking you were just muscle."

"Yeah, man, whatever....." Tyler mutters before joining the circle. Y/N just chuckles as he follows. The words he shares with them are nothing special, mostly that some clearly have lost a bit of their shape and others are still in their game, he glanced at Y/N when he said that second part, then he'd claim to put them through harder work tomorrow before everyone then splits to hit the showers or something else.

Before leaving the field, however, Tyler taps Y/N on the shoulder. "Hey man, can you do me a favor?" Tyler asks him as he stands fairly close next to him. Y/N just stares at him with a quizzed look before the guy finally says his piece. "Can you please remind Jeremy about who Vicki's dating the next time he tries picking a fight with me?" He then requests, to which Y/N squints his eyes at him.

"What? You're that bothered by it?" Y/N teasingly queries with a brow. "Come on, you know why he and Vic broke up in the first place, he's just a kid in love..."

"Yeah, with my girl." Tyler reminds him, pointing at himself to make it clear who Vicki currently belongs to. "Look, you wanna play bodyguard? Then please play bodyguard, that guy should know that he'll be starting a fight he can't finish." He tells him before walking off towards the locker rooms, leaving Y/N to shake his head with a scoff.

"Right..."

Mystic Grill: Evening

After school ends, most of the free time is usually spent at Mystic Fall's most famous bar/diner, the Mystic Grill. It's pretty much every teen's or young adult's hang out place during the evening as the place has managed to become three kinds of places, a bar, a restaurant, and location for parties morphed into one. So, without needing to be said, t's been conveniently placed for most people in town, so if you live in Mystic Falls, then you've been to The Grill at least once.

Y/N, Matt, and Tyler are all having dinner at the same exact table as they don't want to break tradition. There, the latter is lucky enough to have the table waited by his favorite girl. "Thanks Vick." Matt says to his sister with a polite smile, even though she has her eye on more important things.

"Do you need another refill?" Vicki asks Tyler upon noticing that his glass cup has already been mostly drained. Yeah, Y/N's pretty sure that he and anyone else can sense the joke he's thinking from a mile away.

"I'd love one." Tyler replies in a more suggestive tone than necessary, and as Vicki takes his cup back to the bar, he doesn't even hide the looks he's giving as he watches her walk away, causing Matt to squint at him.

"Please, tell me you're not hooking up with my sister." Matt pleadingly requests with a put-off look, causing Y/N to make a face as he glances between them both. Oh boy..... he didn't know until now, did he?

"I'm not hooking up with your sister." Tyler responds with the most blank expression imaginable, making it very clear how much of a lying asshole he's being. Y/N and Matt just share a look before mentally rolling their eyes.

"You're such a dick..."

"You're just now noticing?" Y/N questions with a brow, to which the two chuckle together as Tyler just stares at them both with a shrug, acting as if he doesn't mind being one. "Can't be worse than practice though.... I'm not gonna be able to hit the gym if he's gonna go that hard on us." He then mentions as his face slightly stenches, still feeling something in his muscles. It's not a bad thing, but...... he's gotta work on other parts as well, you know?

"Since when has that stopped you?" Matt queries with a look, to which Y/N admittedly nods.

"Fair point...." Y/N points out as the two then get into eating their separate meals. After about a dozen minutes or so, he notices Caroline and Bonnie walking into the restaurant, gossiping about whatever. "Oh, that's right! N/N's time to shine." He then notes, pumping himself up before excusing himself from the table to go engage in a hopefully longer conversation. Matt and Tyler watch him leave, with an encouraging smile on the former's face. Hopefully, he has more luck than he did post summer.

"Caroline!" Y/N calls with a friendly look, hopefully not chiming in during a possible conversation they deem important. Thankfully, he gets their attention by the first word. "There you are." He notes as if he's been looking for her or something.

"Y/N, hi!" Caroline greets back, immediately turning on that perfect smile as if it was a switch that only need to be flipped. "Um... gee, I'm sorry, I must've missed your texts on the way here-"

"Oh, no, I didn't text you or anything. I just saw you coming in and I was thinking about....." Y/N assures her, before pausing as he realized that he didn't plan anything to say. "About.... things! You need me to get you anything for the party, or...?" He asks, remembering the thing Matt said about gifts.

"Oh, um...." Caroline glances down, scrounging her lip as she seems either surprised at having needing to tell that via mouth-to-mouth, or is just simply thinking something over. Either way, Y/N's anxiety is currently having a field day with this. "Well, the guys are definitely gonna need a lot of beer, so..."

"Beer it is!" Y/N exclaims with expressed arms, giving Caroline a grin that promises that she can depend on him to deliver, no matter what it is..... okay, except for a baby. "Then, I will supply the beer, if you supply me... the attention." He then quips, extending the pool cue he picked up while approaching. Caroline and Bonnie share some kind of look, before the blond turns back with a semi-interested look.

"Deal." Caroline simply says, taking the cue as she and Y/N then head to one of the many pool tables in the building. Matt and Tyler both watch them go on their merry way with proud expressions that are slightly different from each other.

"Knew he had it in him." Matt remarks with a smirk as he nods over to them, to which Tyler amusingly and silently chuckles before putting another French fry into his mouth.

A few seconds into the idle game, Y/N once again uses the moment to strike up another conversation. "So, has the first day been as eventual for you as it was for the team?" He queries as he shoots his first shot, scattering the balls all over the place. "Coach's been 'stoning us into shape' pretty hard."

"It's been fine, I've..... used it as an excuse to get away from the drama surrounding my mom." Caroline answers with a somewhat conflicted expression. "She just.... knows how to not disappoint at disappointing." She remarks with a small huff, to which Y/N understandably nods.

"Yeah, my parents seem to have that curse as well. They just.... come and go as they please." Y/N mentions with a shrug, seemingly more used to it that the female is. "Apparently, they thought that both of them working jobs because the L/N family needs to be... 'hard working' and yada, yada, yada."

"See? That's the problem. Every time we manage to actually make plans, she tries time traveling back to erase it, forgetting that we don't actually have a time machine on us." Caroline remarks as she bitterly takes her own shot, missing one ball by an inch. "Which would be fine if there was exceptions, but.... it's always job first, daughter second."

"Dang, I'm sorry you're going through that." Y/N comments with a nod. When the door opens with a ding from the bell, the two curiously glance, only to see that it's Elena and... some guy that looks way too old to be a high school student. He and seemingly all of Elena's friends turn to see them together, already getting their own similar ideas as they walk in, side by side. "Who's that guy?" Y/N wonders out-loud with a inquisitive look, as Matt is the first to stand up and greet the two. The obvious awkwardness between the three of them is clearly evident to those who know the tea.

"Stefan Salvatore, Mystic Fall's new high school hottie." Caroline confidently answers with a smirk, to which Y/N looks at her with a blank look. "He lives with his uncle at the old Salvatore boarding house, hasn't lived here since he was a kid, military family, Gemini, and his favorite color's blue." She adds in a manner of seconds before walking over to them. Y/N watches her breeze past his shoulder, once again feeling a similar dagger to the chest.

"New high school hottie..." Y/N quietly repeats to himself, before chuckling with the fakest of fake smiles in history. "Great.... wonderful..." He mutters as he just lands the pool stick on the table, no longer caring about fixing it back up. He then joins up with Matt as they both collectively watch Stefan easily join the table with the rest of the girls.

"I think I'm starting to know how Jeremy feels..." Matt remarks to Y/N in a low voice, his eyes still on the guy easily soaking the attention from his ex. Y/N, feeling a possibly lesser but similar version of it, slowly nods with him.

"Yeah, me too...." Y/N agreeingly comments as he crosses his arms, sharing his teammate's pain. While trying to look away, his eye lands on a newspaper on a table that a patron must've left behind. Nevertheless, the name on the headline gets Y/N's attention. "Holy shit.... Darren?" He utters, breaking Matt out of his own trance while grabbing the newspaper and giving it a read.

Bodies Found Mutilated by Animal!

Darren Malloy and Brooke Fenton.

"Did you know him?" Matt curiously asks as Y/N continues reading the paper with a semi-shocked expression on his face. An animal took the time and managed to drive a couple off-road and kill them both? Or is that just him imagining the scenario in his head?  If the former, what kind of feral beast finds the time and ability to do that?

"No, but he knew Mr. Tanner, sort of." Y/N mentions as he blows out some air when he finishes reading the entire story before setting it back down. "Geez, that is rough.... having one rapid animal just.... cut your life short." He comments, as if he has a fear deep inside about that possibility.

"Car crashes, parents, and rapids.... that sadly sounds a lot like Mystic Falls." Matt remarks with a small frown on his face that Y/N detects. Yeah, he too suffers from his own problems that his mom and dad left behind for him, last he remembers, he's practically holding the house for them. It's not something Y/N envies one bit. "You think this town could get any worse?" He questions Y/N, who just shrugs in response.

"Who the fuck knows, man...."

Mystic Falls High School: The Next Day

Back at school after a sour type of sleep, Y/N shares History class with Matt, Elena, Bonnie, and that Stefan guy, who seems to occasionally look at Elena with that small hint of a smile on his face. It's clear that it's not Caroline he's interested in, but it seems that so far, the blond hasn't taken that hint, which makes it more mentally frustrating for Y/N, even if he doesn't want to admit too much of it. He wants to make it seem like a minor inconvenience, but part of him can tell that Matt at the very least knows better about him than that.

But onto current time, where Mr. Tanner, who also operates as the school's History teacher, does his little lecture about the town's historic moment during the era of the Civil War. "The battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of war in our very own Mystic Falls." He begins, but it's clear to at least the students that know Tanner well enough that he's merely setting up a pop question for someone. "How many casualties resulted in this battle?" He then queries, and when no student raises their hand, he chooses someone random. "Miss Bennet?" He calls for, snapping the girl out of whatever daydream she was in.

"Um..... a lot?" She humorously blurts out, causing a few of the students, including Matt to chuckle along with her. "I'm not sure. Like, a whole lot." She then adds with a look, to which a few others, like Y/N just roll their eyes and let a small, amused smirk creep up.

"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Miss Bennet." Mr. Tanner sarcastically replies back, successfully shooting down Bonnie who sheepishly glances down. "Mr. Donovan." He then calls next, as Matt slowly looks back up at him. "Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?"

"It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it." Matt quirkily assures him, causing a few students in the class to once again chuckle at him. Tanner simply hums in response before picking a third times the charm student to challenge.

"Elena? Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most significantly historical events?" He then queries, but as Y/N glances at her, he can see that she's drawing a perfect blank in her head.

"I'm sorry, I..... I don't know." Elena eventually admits, causing Mr. Tanner to give her a subtle glare.

"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." Mr. Tanner quietly scolds Elena with a point of his finger. Hearing this, and seeing Elena's eye drop into a depressed state, causes Y/N to feel his nails digging into his skin as his palm creates a fist under the desk. Attitude on the field is one thing, but talking down to a student, especially after what Elena went through, makes him want to-

"There were three-hundred and forty six casualties." Stefan then abruptly answers the question, causing everyone in the room to look at him. "Unless you're counting local civilians." He also specifies, speaking every word with ease, as if he shouldn't be the one among them in that chair.

"That's correct." Mr. Tanner confirms, glancing between him and Elena. "Mister....?"

"Salvatore."

"Salvatore?" Mr. Tanner repeats, the last name quickly piquing his interest. "Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?" He then queries, seemingly connecting Stefan to some historical figures of the past. Stefan hesitates for a moment before he comes up with a semi-decent answer.

"Distant."

"Well, very good." Mr. Tanner slowly nods. "Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle-"

"Actually, there were twenty-seven, sir." Y/N chimes in right as Stefan opens his mouth, immediately correcting Mr. Tanner in a manner of seconds. "Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss." He easily states, as Stefan looks at him with a semi-impressed look. "The founder's archives are stored in Civil Hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts, Mr. Tanner." He then brings up with a cheeky smile, causing everyone in the room to snigger except for Tanner, who just plays with his book with a heavily fixed smile on his angry face.

Looks like there is a jock who breaks the embedded stereotype.

The Falls: Evening

Hours later, as the moon hovers over the town of Mystic Falls yet again, it's time for the back-to-school party where everyone gets a taste of the better parts of high school life as everyone heads to the place housing big fires, underage drinking, and possible activities in the woods nearby. Y/N drives his dad's car over to the falls with a stack of beer supplied in the back of the van. He's got a license, and as mentioned before, his parents are barely around thanks to being businesspeople along with the other higher names of Mystic Falls, so he doubts that his old man will notice it being missing.

He then eventually parks it over to a land of grass that's unspokenly agreed to be The Fall's parking spot, and immediately steps out, grabbing the first stash and carrying it over to the table, along with a few other jocks who noticed his arrival. "I told you I'd deliver!" He exclaims to Caroline as she and the other girls notice him and his gang bringing the extra supply of the teen's favorite liquid for the night, some cheering as a few are already grabbing a bottle. "That's N/N's motto."

"I had a feeling you would." Caroline comments with a small smile as she walks over to him as he sets it down on a large wooden bench. "Thanks, Y/N." She then says, and as Y/N gets a closer look, part of him feels like that smile is actually being genuine.

"No problem, I didn't save world hunger or anything." Y/N replies with a small attempt at being modest, whether it succeeded is up for discussion. He then takes a beer bottle and playfully tosses hand-to-hand before extending it towards you. "Do you-?"

"Oh, there he is!" Caroline spots someone and immediately walks past Y/N, who pauses before turning around to see Stefan Salvatore coming up to the party, once again turning the Timberwolf completely invisible or something.  As Y/N drops his hand in bitter defeat, Matt walks up with a shake of his head.

"Geez, first Elena, and now Caroline?" He questions out-loud with a voice of someone who doesn't want to admit that he's in awe about how effortlessly he gets the girls' attention. As they watch, they see Stefan practically being pulled by Caroline towards one of the fires, confirming to Y/N that he's been outshined. "How the heck is he even doing it?" He wonders out-loud with slight frustration, as if feeling his ego being gnawed by a saw in front of him. Well... he's not the only one.

"Ain't that the mystery...." Y/N mutters with a black expression before he decides to take way more than one beer, Matt watching him walk away with a bit of empathy in his eyes as the guy goes to drink his now evident insecurities away. "Find me in the woods if I don't make it back!" He shouts towards him after chugging half of his first beer in one gulp.

Matt decides to leave him be.

No more than ten minutes inside of the woods, Y/N tosses his third beer bottle down onto the dirty ground as he then grabs another from his personal sack. Not feeling drunk enough yet, he immediately consumes a quarter of its contents without hesitation. He knew he was a mistake to get cheap beer, this stuff isn't cutting it for him.

"And if I only could... make a deal with God..." Y/N idly sings the random song in his head to himself as he continues to drink and walk among the trees of the current territory. Its attempt at being peaceful, but end up being somewhat creepy is somehow enough to draw Y/N further into its depths.

He seems to have taken a wrong turn or something, as he accidently stumbles towards a couple making hickey a few feet away from him. "Oh, man..." Y/N mumbles, drunkenly chuckling to himself as he goes to find a place that doesn't remind him of his current failures. But then, he stops as his gut starts radiating a bad feeling coming from the couple. He turns around where he finally recognizes Vicki and most likely Tyler being the two kissers. But something's.... off, about the scene in front of him.

"No. No, Ty. I'm not having sex against a tree."

"Oh, come on, it would be hot."

"For who?" Vicki questions as Y/N now sees a very bad set-up taking place in front of him. He then turns back towards the two as he continues watching to see what happens next. "No, It's not gonna happen. It's not going to happen, not here, not like this." Vicki continues to deny him, but Tyler doesn't pull himself away from her. "No, I said no. I said no!" She yells, but Tyler instead pins her harder against the tree. "Ow, that hurts!"

"Hey, leave her alone!" Jeremy Gilbert steps in before Tyler can do anything harsh, although all the jock does is scoff at him with his hands still pinning Vicki to the tree.

"Get the fuck out of here, Gilbert-"

"He said, leave her alone, Tyler!" Y/N immediately shouts back, using his free hand to literally grab and pull the guy off of Vicky, allowing her feet to finally touch the dirt again. He's now clearly a little bit more sober as the confrontation plays.

"What the fuck, Y/N?!" Tyler exclaims with arms that look ready to punch the guy for grabbing him. "You too? You know, you two are really getting on my nerves." He growls as he takes a menacing step towards Y/N, seemingly ready to add physical assault to his new list of possible charges.

"Just go, Tyler, get the hell away from me." Vicki barks, also using her hands to shove him away. Tyler scrounges his lip, now seeming even more pissed off as the three stand in front of him with no longer-friendly-looks. Thankfully for everyone, he unclenches his fist instead of throwing it towards one of their faces, making the smart move this time around.

"Wow. Vicki Donovan says no." Tyler remarks with a scoff and look, putting his hands in his jacket's pockets. "That's a first."

"Go!" Y/N enforces, pointing towards anywhere but here in the woods with his free hand. Tyler glares at him, but eventually walks away, butting shoulders with Jeremy as he passes him. Y/N then sighs after the tense moment finally ends.

"I didn't need your help." Vicki then tells them once Tyler leaves, well... mostly at Jeremy, but with some hidden conflict surrounding the two of them. Jeremy sighs, before looking at Y/N for help, to which Y/N just shakes his head as he decides to continue his own personal journey.

"You two handle this shit by yourselves." Y/N says with a little bit of bitterness, trailing off as he continues drinking his way to the verge of passing out in the middle of birds. "You've got my buzzed partly ruined..." He grumbles as the two watch him leave, now having a small stumble in his step.

While wondering if he's gonna need to grab a few more beers, Y/N finds himself back to his privacy again as he hikes around the woods. Part of him can feel the trees watching him waste himself, judging the way he apathetically tosses his bottle away like it's nothing. Well, he personally doesn't care what he thinks, He's The N/N, and that means he can do whatever the fuck he wants. He's the best..... he's the absolute best.

"Stefan Salvatore, Matt and Vicki Donovan, Jeremy Gilbert, Tyler Lockwood.... who needs animal attacks when there's so much drama...." Y/N mumbles to himself, now idly playing with his phone which he's barely able to see correctly. "Screw it, I should've just brought another girl here in the woods, and...." He then lets out a burst of rage, throwing the bottle he's currently holding into a random tree. "And..... fuck....."

Now conflicted with wanting to feel sorry for himself and wanting to shut that self-pitying side of him away, Y/N just stands there in the middle of the woods, now angrier as he realizes that he's now currently out of beer. He silently curses, rubbing his face with his hands.... where he sees the weirdest thing once he opens his eyes again.

Fog.... yes, fog, fog that last Y/N checked, didn't appear on any weather forecast, nor has it been raining in a way that could prompt it. He looks around at all of the white mist slowly creeping around with an extremely confused look. Then, he hears a caw and turns to see a crow standing on a tree branch, letting out plenty of a noise every few seconds. "What the....." He utters as he squints at it, wondering why a crow planted himself so close to him. He curiously walks over to it, but ends up drunkenly tripping on something and falls right as his head gets close, causing the crow to fly away. "Ow...." He groans, but doesn't make any attempt to get up. In fact, he's feeling tired, guess he'll go ahead and let this be his napping place, where the other teens will find and laugh at the star player being passed out drunk......

Suddenly, he hears a loud, feminine scream coming from somewhere nearby. Y/N blinks himself back awake as he glances around, wondering if he actually heard that or if that was just in his mind. Then, he hears a fleshly gush come from somewhere, as YN then also notices the fog creeping over towards another direction. Once again curious, he forces himself up where he then stumbles towards where the fog is going, and where he thinks he heard the noise.

A few seconds later, he finds Vicki..... on the ground, with a figure kneeling over her. Y/N grows a very creeped out expression as he sees how awfully close his face is to Vicki's neck. "Hey!" He calls out, trying to stop whatever it is, and the figure quickly snaps his head towards him. His face, rather specifically his mouth, looks like it's drunk.... blood? Y/N looks on in horror, only for the man to swiftly disappear the second he blinks. He looks around, but doesn't a hint of the man in sight anymore.

He then shakes his confusion off as he has more pressing matters of concern. "Vicki!" He then calls her name in worriment, now scared when she doesn't respond to him. He jogs over, slightly falling at one point, before kneeling over to see a nasty gash that looks like it came from teeth on Vicki's neck. "Holy shit..."

"Jeremy!" A voice in the background then shouts into the air. Panicked, Y/N turns around as he sees the Gilbert siblings marching towards him, or rather, Jeremy trying to avoid Elena by the way she keeps calling his name. "Jeremy, where the hell are you going?"

"I don't want to hear-" Jeremy shouts back, only to stop when he sees Y/N with Vicki right below him, her neck covered blood. "Holy shit.... Y/N?!"

"I-I-It's not what it looks like!" Y/N frantically preaches with arms raised, slowly backing away as he realizes that they have been stained with her blood also. With him no longer blocker his view, the two now see the nasty wound on the girl's neck, causing them to go wide-eyed. "I-I-I found her like this." He testifies, pointing towards the girl who no doubt needs medical attention.

"Vicki?! No!" Jeremey exclaims in terror, immediately running towards and kneeling towards the girl. Elena, meanwhile, freezes in place with a hand over her mouth. As he processes Vicki's state, Jeremy then turns to Y/N, now panicked. "Call 911!" He quickly instructs him.

"Right, right." Y/N stutters out with a nod, quickly going through his pockets, only to feel nothing inside either of them, not even his jacket's. "My phone... I can't feel my phone...." He tells them in silent horror, eventually realizing that he must've dropped it during the many times that he tripped and fell while drunk. "Fuck!"

"Then how the heck will we-!?" Jeremy starts shouting again.... until suddenly gasps awake, coming back to consciousness. "She's still alive..." He quietly utters, before raising his volume again. "She's still alive! Help me move her!"

The three then quickly move into action, holding separate sides of Vicki and carrying her back towards the part where they continuously cry for help. "Somebody help!" Elena cries out, also panicked as they rejoin the fire pits, where everyone turns to see them carrying a bleeding girl.

"Vicki?" Matt recognizes as he sees them coming in, his brother instincts quickly sobering him up. "Vicki! What the hell?!" He exclaims as he and Tyler then run up and help them lift her onto a table where they now get a better look.

"What happened to her?" Tyler questions them, to which Y/N frantically shrugs.

"I don't fucking know dude!" He shakingly answers him, while Matt instantly grows fearful about his sister's life.

"Somebody, call an ambulance!" Matt frantically orders someone as they all collectively try to help her in whatever way the can. The teens nearby all circle around her while Tyler feels more and more people creeping on his back, causing him to push the others away.

"Everybody back up, give her some space!"

"It's her neck something bit her!" Elena points out as they see more crimson red pouring out of the hole. "She's losing a lot of blood, it's bad!"

"Here, put this on her neck." Matt quickly hands Y/N a rag, who takes it and wastes no time applying it to the lethal bite mark. "Vicki, Vicki, come on, open your eyes, look at me." The guy then pleadingly whispers to his sister, only to see that she's practically blacked out again.

"Dang it, I don't think this is helping man!" Y/N informs the others in slight terror as he can practically see how big the bite is. It's like someone used their entire mouth and created the first human made circle with their K-9s alone. As he glances up, he sees Stefan amongst the crowd of onlookers, seeing Vicki's body with a haunted look before jogging away into the darkness. Y/N squints in confusion.

Where the hell is he going?

It takes an awfully long time for the police, paramedics, and animal control to get here, but granted, it only feels that way. Seeing how dire of a state Vicki's in makes every drop of blood feels like it stopped time and turned one second into thirty. As Matt watches the paramedics rush to his sister's aid, putting her on a stretcher, he glances at Y/N, who sits down with his hands twirled together in front of his mouth, a blank expression on his face. "What's wrong?" He asks him, knowing that he always that look whenever he's thinking hard about something.

"I think I drank too much..." Y/N replies, with a semi-perplexed tone of voice, still trying to process what he saw in the woods. "Back there, I didn't see an animal.... I saw a person, on top of Vicki." He tells him in a low voice, and Matt looks at him with furrowed brows, not liking the sound of it. "But.... even a cannibal can't make a bite mark that big...."

"You think it's one of those animals that's in those mystery documentary shows?" Matt theorizes to Y/N, trying to find some kind of answer to whatever he's claiming. Still confused, and not having many ideas that are considered logical, Y/N just nods.

"Yeah, maybe...." Y/N mumbles before they see the paramedics marching by with Vicki on a stretcher, carrying her into the red and white van. "Go man, you're family." He then encourages, and Matt nods as he steps into the ambulance with them. Y/N then leans back, watching them take off down the road with his consciousness still in his thoughts.

Whatever that Stefan guy's deal is...... he doesn't like it.

And not because he made Caroline go cloud-nine for him.

L/N Residence:

"Dad, I'm home!" Y/N calls out as he steps inside his house. No, not while driving his way here, he asked one of the guys for help on that end. They also agreed to drive his car back into the garage for him, mostly as a favor to the Timberwolf's star player. "Dad?!" He shouts louder for him, but still is met with nothing but silence, causing him to let out a half-hearted chuckle. "Of course, what did I expect?" He mutters as he shuts the door, taking off his jacket and throws it inside the closet, not bothering to hang it or something.

He then foots it over to the kitchen where he grabs the first water bottle, planning to drink as many as he can the same way he did the beers moments before. He doesn't feel so inclined on sleeping drunk anymore, not after witnessing Vicki like that. Not wanting to sit in the living room with nothing by silence as neighbors, he turns on the TV, playing some random cartoon show that he just mindlessly watches while torturing his bladder with more liquids.

Quite a few minutes in, his phone rings... at least, he think it is, until he remembers that he lost it. He blinks and realizes that it's the house phone ringing, causing him to stand up with a mental groan as he's forcing himself to go answer it. With a yawn, Y/N walks back into the kitchen and grabs the cell. "Hello?" He tiredly greets.

"Hey, it's me." Jeremy identifies himself, as he seems to suspect Y/N to be half-drunk while he's on the phone, and in a way, he's definitely right.

"Jeremy, my fellow friend in despair, how may I help you?" Y/N sarcastically queries as he ambles around, grabbing another re-filling his cup with water while he's here in the kitchen.

"I just called to check up, you know?" Jeremy tells him, causing Y/N to make a face. He's actually worried about the guy he's so annoyed about? That's something he didn't expect to hear. "Are you okay? I never saw you be so convinced in drinking so heavily before.

"You're constantly taking dope, and you're the one checking up on me because of an addictive substance?" Y/N notes with a small chuckle, sipping his water as he looks out the window, suddenly seeing the moon as a non-friend for the first time in his life. "You're a kid of many surprises.... bro."

"Please don't call me that..." Jeremy sheepishly requests, apparently still sounding weird about the whole 'brother' thing Y/N was trying to enforce earlier. Y/N laughs at him again, before finding himself yawning again. "Look, it's just.... don't drink yourself dead because of a girl, alright? Trust me, I know what it's like." He tells him, as if trying to sympathize. Y/N mentally sighs in a slightly depressed way, but quickly fixes up a normal voice to cover it.

"I'll be fine." Y/N assures Jeremy, slowly nodding to himself. "Something as simple as girl problems isn't enough to hinder N/N." He states semi-confidently, to which Jeremy weakly chuckles.

"Whatever you say, man..." He comments, and the two eventually end the call. As soon as Y/N hangs up, his expression drops to one of disappointment, all of it at himself. Yeah.... that was bullshit.

He didn't mean any of that.

(A/N) And there it is, the first chapter/Episode of this weekly updating fanfic. I know it's been a while since I've done one POV story, so if anyone has any feedback, like missing details I should include or something of that sort, I'd appreciate it in the comments.

I know that doing something like this from Season 1 to 4 may seem unlikely, considering how my other long book's coming along, but I'm not letting that stop me, I'm gonna promise myself that I'll update this specific book, and when it becomes available, another book along with it.

Plz vote and comment, any counts as feedback, and I'll see you in the next one.
