Chapter Eleven
I slid into my normal seat on the bus because it was the one that is almost always open. Pulling out my phone, I turned on an audiobook and watched the scenery fly by.
Most days the thing I looked forward to most was seeing Evan. We had talked, joked around, and finally (with seemingly his whole life's worth of courage) he asked if I liked someone.
My heart pounding, I replied with a slow yes, both of us looking around for other people listening in.
After we seemed to figure out no one was, he asked a different question, his eyes looking away from me until the last word. "Can you tell me?"
"Um..." I started, then thought Crap, I made it awkward. "Do you?" I asked all of the sudden.
He replied with the same slow yes and both of us looked uncomfortable.
"Would you tell me?" I asked hesitantly, and he nodded.
"On the count of three, lets both say," he suggested. I nodded, and then on the count of three it was a you in unison from the both of us.
We both looked up, eyes wide with surprise.
The bell rang, and we both ran away, neither of our personalities made to stand that.
.......
"Did you hear Daya and Carter got the cutest couple award?" Evan asked as we made our way to history.
"Yeah," I said slowly, trying to make it apparent I wanted to change the subject.
"Did you want it to be us?" he asked, then stops. "Eleniel, wait, I didn't..."
I stopped, too. "Are we a couple?" I asked. I knew that wasn't what he meant, but I didn't want to talk about it right now.
"I don't know," he said, stumbling over his words. Neither of us seemed to know what to say.
"Let's say no for now, decide later," I suggested. Evan nodded, and we continued to class.
"Today I am giving you what will probably be the hardest, but most fun, assignment of the year," our teacher started, while the groans echoed throughout the classroom. "Now, now, I said fun, didn't I? Well, you are going to be researching your family! Your family history, from your parents to as far back as you can, you are going to try and learn as much as you can. Since this will be a huge assignment, it isn't due until sometime in April when we have our presentation." As he finished, he looked around hopefully for excited faces.
I was pretty excited. I've always wanted to research my family, and now I can do it for homework!
"And remember, even though the due date is so far off, don't save it all until the end. Work on it as much as possible!"
The rest of the class was not so exciting, just reading about American history. America's history isn't quite as good as others, but it's better than nothing I guess.
The bell rang, and I walked out of the classroom, a bit after the others.
...........
The days dragged on. This school seemed to be becoming less and less aware of me. I was tempted to bring up the topic of a school change with my parents, but I was to nervous to.
Evan didn't think I should. He wants me to stay. But who else would? Nurse Holly?
I want to go somewhere else, to see who cares.
One day, when Evan and I were discussing it ("I'm going to then!" "No, you have to much you're leaving behind! Besides, it's not definite!") Mia came walking up to me.
"Sorry to interrupt..." she started, nervously.
"No, you're fine, what's up?" I said, trying to be as cheerful as possible.
"Are you really switching schools?" she asked.
"Ummm, I don't really know..." I started this time, but she cut me off.
"I wanna come with you. I'm not leaving you again. Or, I guess this time I'm not gonna let you go."
I think we both were about to cry, and Evan looked slightly (Ok, majorly) uncomfortable, but then the bell rang.
"I'll call you later," she said and ran off.
"We care," Evan whispered, before he went of to his next class, and I was suddenly alone.
But maybe I was the least alone I had been for years.

I think this is it, the last chapter. I will probably add an epilogue after this, and then maybe a surprise (you'll see!). Thank you all for reading this, and just wait a little bit longer for more extra parts.
