Author's Note

"True love conquers all obstacles, defies all storms and deepens it's colors with the passage of time."
~Unknown~

"Love sometimes comes like a dream and leaves like a nightmare."
~Unknown~

At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet.
~ Plato~

"How far should a person go in the name of true love?"
~ Nicholas Sparks, The Choice~

"true love is felonious... You take someone's breath away... You rob them of the ability to utter a single word... You steal a heart."
~Jodi Picoult, My Sister's Keeper~

"...true love is an irrevocable act - you can only give your heart away once - after that, you give as much as you have left ..."
~John Geddes, A Familiar Rain~

"True love is tested when betrayed."
~ Toba Beta, Master of Stupidity~

"Together we are that one loving sea.
That hums with love so all can be."

~ Wald Wassermann

Each of the above is a famous quote and though a couple are contradictory to each other, they do sum up what true love could be defined as, though I personally think that this quote does the summing up quite appropriately:

"So far only one incontestable truth has been uttered about love: 'This is a great mystery.' "
~Anton Chekov~

And this contest gave me an opportunity to write out different stories in varied genres, some of which I did not even know existed (e.g. the Riverdale profile, I know of Archie and Jughead Jones, but only of the comic world, the television version was new. Thank God for Wikipedia.)

Below is the list of the profiles and the prompts, along with my story submissions and how I felt about writing it out (this is pure rambling). I have also included who won, and you, dear reader, should check them out (All are good and some are brilliantly marvelous)

1. 'When the Only Obstacle is Yourself' by BeyondSol √ (Stardust)

I was terrified (okay, that is an overstatement, but I was hesitant) to write for this prompt. I love reading Sci-fi, but was not sure if I could write anything in that genre. I finally managed to write and submit it, a slightly sad story, which did not make the cut.

The winner was lauraschiller1990 with her story, 'Flight', with a unique cultural obstacle between two alien races and an equally creative way of overcoming it. I loved her story, not to mention, the cover is great too.

In second position was 'Galactic Love' by sacredlilac  which at 153 words only had an interesting twist.

In third place was Atom and Ion by WoahNixella .

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

2. 'Opposites Spark' by WattRiverdale √ (Sparks) #

I have given up on writing against this prompt, the synopsis of my idea is given in the chapter.

The winner was leighyeann for her submission 'Coming Home.'

Second place was 'Tis the Night' by Thesexybrain

With a tie for the third place; 'Don't forget what we were: 'The Northside Queen and the Southside King' by MathildelsWriting

and 'Secrets (Riverdale Fan Fiction)' by MissJina

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

3. 'Obstacles and Obsessions' by MicroBytes √ (Memories never die)

I personally liked the story I wrote and to tell the truth was quite disappointed that my story did not even make it to the long list. I sulked quite a bit too.

Anyway, the winner was EllaMooreAuthor with her story 'A Fairy Tale in Black and White' which is a wonderful and breathtaking one.

The other two, who tied for the spot were:

'Silence' by MelBraxton

and

'Fourteen Inches' by plottingalong

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

4. 'Lost In The Mirror' by In Tenebris Scriptum √ (Mirror Mirror on the Wall)

Again a story that I dragged by feet through and it showed I guess. I loved the winning submission, it is about a dancer and her love, and the words are like a ballet recital.

The winning entry was by YvonneKindle with her story 'The Dancer in the Mirror.'

No other winners were declared.

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

 5. 'Obstacles' by Mystery √ (I Will Always Find You)

I had great fun with this prompt, with what I felt was a cute twist. This was included in the Winners list.

The other winners were:

'I will always find you' by NatalieBx

'Sweet Revenge' by ipad_connor

'I will always find you' by chillytv

'Prey' by richellerenae

'Obsession' by EllaMooreAuthor

'Carousel' by noxiousheart

' Full Moon at Lunasa' by MochaVonBee

The story that made it to round two was ' Full Moon at Lunasa'

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

6. 'Acrostic Love' by CoffeeCommunity √ (Obstacles)

Poetry and me, how could I resist it? And I won (I found out just before I slept and did a victory dance then and there).

In second place was 'Acrostic-Crossed Lovers' by JadedElegance

and the third place was taken by The Barrista's Affair by sleepingdraco

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

7. 'Obstacles' by Wattpad Creepy Pasta √ (A Deal is a Deal)

Another prompt that I had great fun writing it out. And also a trifle disappointed not to make the cut, though after having read through other submissions, I think I got the genre wrong, my story would fit 'humor' rather than 'fear.'

The winner was sleepingdraco for their story, 'The Bloody Hand.'

At second place was poutandsaycheese with their story 'Red' and

Third place was music_ally with 'Mirrorchild'

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

8. 'Red String of Fate' by Anime √ (Path of Dreams)

This prompt gave me a bit of grief and I guess that is why the story was a bit of a drag.

The winner was LunarCelestis for their story, 'Anime Prompt.'

The other two runner ups were

'Unmarked' by EllaMooreAuthor and

'Pull that Red String' by leighyeann

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

9. 'Life, Love and Lemons' by adultfiction √ (A Beautiful Struggle)

This was a nice prompt and my submission earned me a third place (I wish they gave out stickers too).

The winning submission was 'Dragged Horse' by nihilismics and

the second place was taken by 'Alone Together' by Shiraia

Third place by yours truly.

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

10. 'Damsel, or...?' by Superhero (Distress Signal) *

Another fun prompt and I had a blast writing it out, though the inspiration struck after the deadline was gone.

The winner was 'I cannot be saved' by purpleeyestelllies

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

11. 'Obstacles' by Wattpad FairyTale√ (High Button Boots)

This was a breeze to write and I loved it. So you can imagine my disappointment when it did not make the cut (I think I threw a howling tantrum, in silence, do not ask how I did it - I did it).

The winner was Forcing Fate by EllaMooreAuthor

In second place was 'Tripping over my Crown' by Spider-Hawk and

In third place was 'Bringing her back' by Evilscientist42

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

12. 'Obstacles by Fanfic √ (Khamoshi – SwaSan Fanfic)

I had to write, a chance to write on my one and only OTP, no way would I give it up. I did not expect it to win, partly on account of a niggling feeling that non US fandoms might not be given much weight age on account of their non-familiarity, which could also be a tiny case of sour grapes.

The winning entry was 'Come Back' by mieczy-slaw

Second place went to 'Alone Together' by HogwartsDungeons

with third place taken by 'A Girl from Mandalore' by JoyeEverett715

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

13. 'The Missing Cog' by WattpadSteamPunk (Lost Bearings) #

As on date, I still have hopes of writing this out :-)

The winner was leighyeann with the story The Lady and the Cog.

No other winners were declared.

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

14. 'Obstacles' by Horns_and_Halos √ (Fall for Grace)

A submission that I took time to write but liked the finished one and hoped to make it to the top. It did not.

The winners were

'Jacob's Angel' by ElleJNior  (this made it to round 2)

'Falling for you' by v3Olympus

'Yellow Popsicle' by CrystalAndFelicity

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

15. 'Obstacles in Pakistani Marriages' by AmbassadorsPK √ (Pihavaraa) #

Another one which I did not manage to write at all.

The winner was hershey-z for their story 'Honour Bound.'

'Ours' by AimmyB  was at second place and

'Finally Mine' by ashoney123 and 'His Wife' by Strawberrywearsskirt tied for the third place.

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

16. 'Obstacles' by flashfic √ (Thorn in the Side)

I am not even sure of what I wrote and submitted.

The winner is a deserving one, with a brilliantly told tale 'Eternal Love - a flash fic trilogy.' by EllaMooreAuthor

The other winners were:

music_ally with 'Old Flames' (0-20 words) and

MaryBoadu9 with 'New York' (20-100 words)

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

17. 'Blind Date With The Enemy' by AmbassadorsGR √ (Coffee for Two) #

I dilly dallied as to how, where and when to set my story, whether it had to be a teen fic or adult and by the time I made up my mind, well the contest, at least round one, was long over. And now, almost three months down the line, I do not even have a basic plot idea. I give up.

The winner story was 'Back to You' by MissJina

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

18. 'Obstacles' by action√ (Hide and Seek)

Another submission that I just managed to complete within the deadline and appears to be a typical Bollywood potboiler.

There were three winners:

'Detective Barnes Gets His Ass Saved' by purpleeyestelllies

'Catch Me if You Can' by leighyeann

'Bad For Business' by Chillytv

The story, 'Detective Barnes Gets His Ass Saved', made it to round two.

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

19. 'Love Yourself' by LY√ (F.L.Y)

My submission was a sort of a continuation or rather the reaction to the letter written as part of my entry for the Short story prompt.

This was won by plottingalong for her story 'Pichifkes' (Yiddish for knickknacks)

It is simply brilliant. I had read this before making my submission, and had almost decided that it would be a waste to submit something like what I had written. Her story is emotional and almost perfect, and as I had mentioned - her writing is effortless, easy and flows like a poem. It is musical and melodious. This is just not to be missed.

In second place was 'Loving Myself' by v3Olympus

and there was a tie for the third place between 'Self-love' by justafangirl and 'Not Perfect' by ZinahAG

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

20. 'The Choices I face' by DangerousLove (Flame Truths)

I found it tough to write for this prompt, I have never been a fan of those 'bad boy, good girl' stories. However, I took it as a challenge and did manage to to complete and submit the same.

The winning submission was 'Fragile Desire' by Noxiousheart

itsStarstrUck for their story 'Addicted to the Light' won the second place while

the third place went to 'Dangerous Love' by luziferose

━━━━━━━  ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

21. 'Obstacles' by Historicalfictions √ (Letters) *

I had an idea which I did not manage to write before the deadline. I guess all that trepidation and procrastination seeped into the writing, and I am actually happy that I did not finish in time.

The winner was InaraRose with her story 'Letters in a Rosewood Box.' I had read it before the results, and loved the way it was written.

There was a tie for the second place with three stories:

'Butter Pecan' by CrystalAndFelicity

'The Last Letter to Iowa' by lepus_leporis

'Signed, Sealed and Delivered' by SabrinaMaris

━━━━━━━ ☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

22. 'Untitled' by dystopianapocalypse √ (Infected) #

Another genre that I rarely venture into and hence tempted to write out. I had a vague plot idea which I could not flesh out, so this is another abandoned prompt.

Only one winner was declared, 'Amos' by writingbyscarlett

━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

23. 'Loving the Unloved' by Wattpad Short stories √ (You are Enough)

I tried to write it as a letter, from the one who loves the person who has deep insecurities about her curves, this being a topic close to my heart. The entry for prompt 19, was a sort of continuation of this story, as it dealt with how the precipitant reacted to the letter.

The winner was thatwriterforbooks for their story 'Loving the Unloved.'

The other three winners in no specific order are:

'Loving the Unloved' by Bekka911

'Dear Daddy Depression ' by Alatary

'Bitten Hands' by Nicoismysenpai

━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

24. 'The choices I make' by Romance_Ro√ (Choice)

I am proud of this - won third place and earned me a pretty sticker (I do not care if it is childish of me, I like victory stickers.) and my book was added to the reading lists of Romance_Ro.

The first place was taken by LifeDeep for their story For Yourself - Trials of Love and by Panda2067 for the story 'Un ultim mesaj de adio.'

The second place was taken by  'La Marginea cerului' by heterolumina

And third place by yours truly (excuse me while I do a tiny victory dance...yet again)

━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

25. 'Obstacles' by Music √ (Life is a Song) *

Another submission which I could not complete within the deadline and also reads like a frilly Bollywood movie.

The winner was MaryBoadu9  for their story 'Beautiful Sunrise.'

No other winners were declared.

━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

26. 'Why Me?' By Humor√ (A Kiss for Klutzy) #

Another prompt that drew a complete blank from me :-)

The winner was 'Accidental' by jkowen8

━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

27. 'Obstacles' by Wattpad after dark√ (Twice in a Lifetime) *

The winning submission, a poignant tale of second chances, 'The Whistle of the Train' by heythereelijah

In second place was 'At Least Once' by jkowen8

There was a tie for third place between 'Breakup Night Out' by JoeLechene and 'Commander Mine' by ElleMooreAuthor

I did manage to write this out, though long after the due date.

━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

28. 'Save the...face! by Romance ( Save the D̷a̷t̷e̷...Day)

This was my entry for Round 2 of the Romance collaboration contest, where the winners of Round 1 had to write out a story for a prompt given by the Romance profile.

The winner was MochaVonBee

for her story :Hamptons Wedding (Romance Short Story)

━━━━━━━☆☆━━━━━━━ ☙

# - not written, only prompt and the story title, If I had written it, are given

* - written after the due date, hence not submitted.
