A man who's always seen the world through an artistic lens, where boat railings are covered in vermilion paint under cotton candy clouds, would like nothing more than to get validation from the son who's always thought his father was crazy. What if he isn't crazy at all? What if faeries are real? What if pixies did steal his shoes? Sometimes fathers and sons have lenses that will never be focused the same.Like most of my stories, this one has a surprise ending that makes people say, "Wait! What's next?! Give me more!" If you want more after you read it, you better tell me! :)**********This is a short story I wrote for a series of shorts I am putting together for a community education course that I hope to teach one day (maybe in retirement to keep me from going stir-crazy, though that's still quite a ways a way). I've receive so much good feedback, that I have decided to turn this short into a novel. I wrote 60+ words for in November of 2019 for NaNoWriMo and am hoping to be done writing and editing it mid-2020 so I can query it to agents. All Rights Reserved. This is a copyrighted work. How do we end up in jobs we don't love? And once we realize we're there, how do we get ourselves back on track to go where we always wanted to be? Technology provides new platforms for connecting with people who can make our dreams come true. You never know who might be watching. This is a short story I wrote and submitted to a contest in a national legal journal. It is not FanFic. The contest requirements were that the story needed to be a representation of a young attorney's life and the way he or she used technology to do their job. I wrote the story before my father passed away just last year and I'm grateful that he was able to read it before passing because I used the information about his legal case and interviewed him for the details of the story.I work in IT at a law firm so I have a bird's eye view of attorneys and the technology they use. Between my father's information and this unique vantage point, I was able to write this short story. Please vote if you like it and give me feedback about character development or depth of story if you think of any. All feedback, good or bad, will help me become a better writer!Superman portion of the cover is credited to trrydmshrb on Pixabay.com…

My new neighbor is cute. Really cute. But I'm not living here in this beachside bungalow to flirt with all the gorgeous men on the beach. I'm on a mission. At least I think I'm on a mission.======This is a short story I wrote in three parts using writing sprints during Camp NaNo. I didn't do a lot of editing on it, so it's not perfect. I do my own cover design, so let me know what you think of the cover as it relates to the genre (romantic adventure) and story elements. The background image includes some Michigan beach-front cottages, which is what I was envisioning while I was writing the story. Not sure the girl with the jeans jacket works that great, but she is kind of how I pictured Tina so I went with it.Don't forget to vote if you enjoy the story! All feedback is welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading!…

Contest Entries - Flash Fiction

This is where I repost contest entries or links to my entries if they have no other home, mostly so I can keep track of them. It's bound to be a hodge podge of snippets, short stories, and maybe even a bit of poetry (which is horrendously far outside of my comfort zone). Every bit of writing gets me closer to a masterpiece! And who knows what snippet might take off in my imagination and make a life of its own.…

Setting up headers and footers in Microsoft Word can be challenging. This guide is for all those people who struggle with setting up their headers and footers when they are preparing their book for publication as paper copy. The instructions are written without screenshots. Let me know if that makes it too hard to understand. I may come back and add them in later.I may parle this into writing more about how to use Word, depending on the feedback.…
