The Starry Evening
The stars were shining brightly due to the lack of light pollution. And I have to say, they're very pretty.
"What should we do first???" Fae asks, bouncing around eagerly now that we're all together.
I've known Fae for about a month now, but honestly she's the best friend I've ever had. Leslie on the other hand has known me for more than three years. she's more like a sister or a mother though, always wanting to make sure I'm okay and that I'm not friends with someone weird.
"I'm hungry," Leslie says, already halfway to the kitchen. "Let's go make dinner or something."
Fae runs in front of Leslie and stops her. "I'm gonna help out since I don't want to be alone!"
I walk to the kitchen with them, since I don't really know what else to do.
"Jayden" Leslie calls. That's me. "You have side dish duty. Fae you get drinks."
The fridge is packed full with sugary drinks and cool snacks. As well as all the cheese you could possibly imagine.
"Drinks drinks drinks!" Fae yips. She chooses a strawberry lemonade and pours it into elegant wine glasses. She then proceeds to pick up the glass all fancy-like and pretends to be an extravagant woman at a ball.
"Hmm tut tut. My dress costs more than your house hmhmhm! I have more elegance in my foot than you've seen in your life!"
Fae and I laugh and Leslie just shakes her head and smirks.
I search around the kitchen looking for something that could be used to make a side dish. Let's see... various fruits, crackers, veggies, and canned goods were all crammed into the fridge and multiple cabinets. I grab some grapes, strawberries, and melons planning to make a fruit salad.
Fae, having already completed her task, peeks over Leslie's shoulder. "Whatcha making?"
"Spaghetti and meatballs."
Fae looks uneasy, but she quickly regains her smile. "Cool! I'm going to set the table."
We quickly manage to bring together a delicious meal and bring it over to the table, where Fae is playing with a little bell. She puts it away when she sees us coming.
We immediately dig in as soon as we sit down and Leslie asks us questions to carry a conversation. Questions like, "What are your parents doing tonight?" or "Read any good books lately?"
"Fae, why are you picking off the meatballs? Do you not like them?" Leslie asks looking concerned.
Fae looks up with a smile. "No, It's not that. It's just that I'm vegan."
"Oh my gosh why didn't you tell me??" Leslie stands and rushes to the kitchen, making some toast and spreading hummus on it.
"Here you go!" Leslie says, handing it to Fae.
Fae looks at it, unfamiliar with the combination. "Toast with hummus...?"
"You mean you've never tried it?? Trust me, it's really good. I saw it in a cookbook once."
Let's just say Fae got up for more toast with hummus like three times.
After our stomachs were full and we chatted the night away, we were thoroughly tired and ready for bed. Fae and I got dressed and brushed out teeth while Leslie set up blow up mattresses. there were several blankets piled on them for extra plush.
The room we set up in might as well have been an observatory since it had the coolest roof made up of entirely glass. It was a perfect place to just lie down and watch the stars. Fae ended up pushing the blankets off the mattress and sleeping on the floor. Leslie and I get comfy as well and we all ended up falling asleep underneath the stars.
