I'm happy to announce we are kicking off the second Shadowborn Fanfiction contest! To enter, comment on this chapter that you would like to submit a fanfic. Below are the rules, prizes, dates & deadlines.

Dedication is going out to the winner of our last fanfiction contest - OneStoryteller with her awesome story "Through the Eyes of the Lion." If you haven't had a chance yet, you really ought to check it out!

---Rules---

1) Write your Fanfic: Write a story featuring one or more characters from BORN OF SHADOW or THE BLOODSTONE PROPHECY (animals like Galileo and Samuel's ferret, and even shadow creatures are totally up for grabs). The story can take place in the same setting as the original or in an alternate universe. Please try to stay true to the characters' personalities. Your fanfic must be at least three chapters long and can be as long as you would like, but the judge will only read the first few chapters. Your story does not need to be completed in order to be entered in the contest. Quality is more important than number of words.

2) Post your Fanfic on Wattpad with the tag #ShadowWars. Please mention in the summary blurb that is it fanfiction of "Born of Shadow" or "The Bloodstone Prophecy" by @SarahBensonBooks. Give your story an appropriate rating. Story may be G, PG or PG-13 rated. No R-rated.

3) Once you've posted your fanfic, dedicate the first chapter to @SarahBensonBooks so I get a notification. I will add your story to my "Born of Shadow Fanfic" reading list. Woot! If for any reason I miss the notification (or if Wattpad mysteriously eats it), please PM me or leave a message on my board letting me know you entered the contest. We want to make sure everyone can find your stories.

I am super excited to see what imaginative things you come up with! The winners will be decided by a guest judge OneStoryteller, who won the last fanfiction contest.

Scarab Award: This prize goes to the most deserving entry. Criteria will include content (creative idea, interesting plot, well-portrayed characters) as well as presentation (writing style, grammar/spelling, etc.)

Scarab Award winner will receive:

3) Promotion via message broadcast to Sarah's followers over 10,000 followers on Wattpad, Twitter and Facebook

8) Signed copy of BORN OF SHADOW paperback in choice of Scarab, Pyramid or Galileo edition (international).

Black Apple Award: To celebrate being selected for the Heroes and Villains list on ABC's official Once Upon a Time profile, I have decided to award a special prize. The Black Apple award goes to a fanfiction that combines characters and elements from both the Shadow Wars series and ABC's Once Upon a Time TV show.* 

Black Apple Award winner will receive:

2) Shout-out in Sarah's profile
3) Promotion via message broadcast to Sarah's over 10,000 followers on Wattpad, Twitter and Facebook
