"What I actually said was the we have been summoned by the King. We are to report to his throne room tomorrow morning."
That night, she had a sleepover with all her friends that were girls. Currently, though, they were all in the park.
"Soooo. Summoned by the King?" her friend Flame asked.
"Yep." Sparkle replied.(Every other statement/question/reply is Sparkle)
"He is sooooooo handsome!" her friend Musa said. She was one of the girly ones.
"I've never seen him. I wouldn't know. I don't fangirl over him. I'm not obsessed."
"You can't call a girl obsessed when she's in love!" Shina, another girly friend, said.
"In love? Have you two ever actually spoken to him?"
"No, but we've heard him talk, and his voice is hypnotizing!" Musa said.
"Whatever. I don't see what is so exciting about being summoned by the king. And Electro was picking on me for it."
"How badly?" asked Flame.
"Well, he said King Thorin was asking for my hand in marrige."
"How hard did you hit him?" asked Musa.
"I didn't. I simply said, 'In his dreams.'"
"You don't want to marry the King?" Shinia asked in shock.
"No I don't. Can you think of how much of a pain that would be? All the formalities, and dresses, and meetings, and confusion. Plus, people with power have a tendency to be pompous."
"Well you are not normal." Musa stated. The girls didn't see him, but Electro was listening to their conversation.
"If I married anyone, it would be Electro, not that I like him that way, I just feel bad for rejecting him so much. I don't like anyone in that way. I'll just stay single for my entire life."
"The King though. How could you not be in love with him?" Musa asked.
"Electro is more amazing though. At least him falling for me is a more reasonable hope than the King falling for you." Flame said quietly.
Electro was in shock, because he was being compare to the King, and someone saw him as better than the King. Secretly, he had a crush on both Sparkle and Flame.
The other girls looked at Flame like she was drunk.
"You like ELECTRO?" Shinia asked.
"He's a good friend, but seriously?" Musa said.
"Well I'm happy for you. Just to warn you though, he flirts with me like the other two do on a daily basis. He's also mental. We should get back to my house." Sparkle said.
Her father got home, and he laughed at her.
"In his dreams? Seriously Sparkle?" he laughed.
"Yes!"
The next morning, she was getting ready for the day, and she frustrated her father.
"Couldn't you wear something more presentable than your normal?"
"No, it's not like anyone of that rank will notice what I wear anyway. Why do you care today of all days? Millions of guys my age come to the resturaunt each week, and 3 of them work with me!" she exclaimed.
She was wearing a tank top half shirt, and a pair of skinny jeans. At least she actually braided her hair instead of just leaving it.
"Yeah, well the King is your age, and he's looking for a queen. I heard he has found a girl he likes, and she has your hair color and eyes." her dad muttered to no one in particular.
"There are at least 20 other girls with my hair color and eyes!"
"Yes! And that leaves a 5% chance it's you, and that's 5% too much!"
"Whatever."
They got to the throne room, and King Thorin wasn't there yet. His advisor and General were there though, so they had Sparkle wait outside while they spoke with her father, and somehow, she tripped on her way out.
She was greatful that no one had seen it. Or at least, that's what she thought.
King Thorin had been just about to come into her sight, but he could already see her when she tripped, He decided to turn around and use the side door into the throne room. He spoke to her father about new swords for the entire army.
When she was called back into the room, King Thorin couldn't take his eyes off her. She was beautiful. He had no idea that the girl who was said to be such a great translator was the same girl he had been trying to talk to for six months, but never had the guts.
"I have a few documents I need translated. Most of them are elvish." he said. "All the documents and extra paper is in the library. I will show you there."
"Yes, my lord." she replied respectfully.
He took her to the library, and she began the long process of translating. She always read through it, wrote it in the Common Speech, and read it again to make sure it matched up. She was extremely thorough with her work, especially since it was so important.
Half an hour after she started, she began to sing without realizing it, just like she always did in the restaurant while she worked.
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep, and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek the pale enchanted gold.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.
For ancient king and elvish lord,
There many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.
On silver necklaces they strung
The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, in twisted wire
They meshed the light of moon and sun.
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day,
To claim our long-forgotten gold.
Goblets they carved there for themselves
And harps of gold; where no man delves
There lay they long, and many a song
Was sung unheard by men or elves.
The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night.
The fire was red, it flaming spread;
The trees like torches blazed with light.
The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale;
Then dragon's ire more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail.
The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled their hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.
Far over the misty mountains grim
To dungeons deep and caverns dim
We must away, ere break of day,
To win our harps and gold from him!
All the people close to the library heard, and knew her voice was amazing, they just didn't know who she was.
Thorin was standing behind her as she worked, with one hand on the back of her chair.
She had forgotten everything and everyone around her, and focused solely on her work and singing.
Alright
Yeah it's been a bumpy road
Roller coasters
High and low
Fill the tank and drive the car
Pedal fast, pedal hard
You won't have to go that far
You wanna give up 'cause it's dark
We're really not that far apart
So let your heart, sweet heart
Be your compass when you're lost
And you should follow it wherever it may go
When it's all said and done
You can walk instead of run
'Cause no matter what you'll never be alone oh oh oh
Never be alone oh oh oh
Forgot directions on your way
Don't close your eyes don't be afraid
We might be crazy late at night I can't wait til you arrive
Follow stars you'll be alright
You wanna give up 'cause it's dark
We're really not that far apart
So let your heart, sweet heart
Be your compass when you're lost
And you should follow it wherever it may go
When it's all said and done
You can walk instead of run
'Cause no matter what you'll never be alone oh oh oh
Never be alone oh oh oh
You wanna give up 'cause it's dark
We're really not that far apart
So let your heart, sweet heart
Be your compass when you're lost
And you should follow it wherever it may go
When it's all said and done
You can walk instead of run
'Cause no matter what you'll never be alone oh oh oh
Never be alone oh oh oh
When it's all said and done
You can walk instead of run
'Cause no matter what you'll never be alone
She swapped back and forth between the two songs, and everyone loved the effect her singing had on the drag of everyday life.
Around noon, Thorin thought it best to point out she should get some lunch.
"It is lunch time, should you want something to eat, I would recommend you follow me." he said quietly.
She jumped, and began breathing heavily.
"I forgot you were there. You scared me." she managed to say.
He began to chuckle.
"You forgot I was there? I was right behind you!"
"I zone out when I work like that. I forget my surroundings. Don't laugh at me."
His smile widened.
"I was singing too, wasn't I?"
"Yes." He was now fully laughing.
She turned really red because she knew he was studying her now.
She saw a paper that intrested her.
"What's this?" she asked.
"Oh, just a useless document found by my scouts."
"Why is it useless?"
"It's in the Black Speech."
"I could translate it for you."
"How?"
"Ask my father please. I don't like talking about it."
"Well, you can take these home and work on them in your spare time if you would perfer that than to come here."
"Ok, thank you, and I will bring them back when they are done, which will be by the end of the week, my lord."
Thorin sighed deeply at the formalities.
"Have a good day." he said to her as she walked away.
