Xax - A large militarized country with a rigid caste system and a harsh but efficient economy. Ruled by the mysterious demigod Xax from The Ebony Tower, the central spire in the City of the Tower. Xax has corrupted worship of The One in his country so that his subjects pray to him as an intermediary between the people and their deity, and in the process gained incredible power and long life. There are many odd and unnatural aspects about Xax and its ruler, but one of the most well known is the fact that, on Terrok, when anyone says "The Ebony Tower" their voice and inflection change automatically so the name carries a sense of perpetual dread. In writing, extra ink flows so the Tower's name is corrupted even in the printed or written language of all peoples. Children thousands of miles away play 'the tower game' in secret, trying to say the words with a straight face (and inevitably failing due to Xax's world-spanning magic).

Terion Free State - A splinter nation that has ceded from Xax. Ruled by a powerful Priest-Baron from the Ivory Tower. Rebel Xaxians find safe haven in Terion, but the state has been on the verge of being overwhelmed for generations. Backed by neighboring countries looking to keep Xaxian expansion minimized.

Sid - A wild mountainous region inhabited by hardy pioneers and adventurers. There is no national government in Sid, its villages and towns instead forming a loose coalition for common protection against monsters or Xaxians when necessary.

Calm Lake - Once a peaceful, pastoral area inhabited by the short humanoids known as Badwahs, in the last 50-100 years, it has been a site of perpetual turmoil, first completely overrun by Kobalo in invading waves, then savaged by slavers. Surviving Badwah settlements are infrequent, fortified and extremely distrusting of outsiders.
