Prologue

(Author's Note: I've rewritten this in Third Person POV. I find it quite difficult to write using Clyde's POV. He seems so stiff when I write it in English. Anyway, the Tagalog version is already unpublished. The English version will be the one posted hereon out.)

Clyde Pluma bowed down in respect as he faced his mentor, "You summoned me, Master Percival?"

"I have an assignment for you." replied the latter. He was old yet he gave off a youthful aura contrary to his cropped snow white hair which shows years of accumulated experience.

The young lad immediately got excited at the assignment given by his mentor. The old man noticed his disciple's eagerness so he immediately handed him the dossier of his new Subject. Clyde grabbed it and read his Subject's profile.

"Anna Marie Cruz. That's your new Subject." Master Percival said as he looked at Clyde.

"Oh, she's almost the same age as I am. So, what highlight of her life am I going to write?" Clyde noticed that his Subject's file is somewhat scanty for a 22-year old lady. "Let me guess, a 'memorable death'?" He knew that oftentimes, when the file is too meagre, it usually means that the story of the Subject's life is near its end.

"She's not dying anytime soon." his mentor calmly replied.

"A confession of love?" Clyde queried upon seeing that his Subject is in the proper age for romance. However, he frowned upon seeing that her love life profile was a complete blank. "No love life? Seriously? NBSB? Master, why is her dossier so sparse? It couldn't be because her previous Scribe just got lazy or something?"

He immediately looked at the Writer History and saw that its writing followed due process. However, it ended at a date that is about to take place next week.

"Her story is open-ended." Master answered upon reading the expression on his face." Her last Scribe was from the Post-College Bureau. Unfortunately, she has gone three years ago. Her apprentice has continued writing some of her stories but because of the heavy workload, mostly repetitive day-to-day activities are the entries written there. In short, her life was uneventful. This should've been alright considering that most employed mortals are living on a routine life. However, the Prophecy Bureau reclassified her profile from "Ordinary" to the "Watch List" on the same day her last Scribe left. Because of all the workload, the reclassification memo was lost up until yesterday when the Prophecy Bureau saw another development which is of deep importance. Now, your task is to continue writing Anna's story and this is a G-Class Project."

The young lad's brown eyes widened in surprise at what Master Percival said."G-Class? Master, I am not a G-Class Scribe. I'm an S-Class Scribe. I write the special events of a mortal's life. I write the twists in their plots. I write their climax. I write their most treasured memories. This is not my field of specialty. Besides, I have a lot of pending S-Class Projects." He said as his earlier enthusiasm vanished in an instant.

Master Percival restrained himself from scolding the younger lad. Instead, he breathed deeply and said "All your projects are transferred to another Scribe. This project is on the Watch List, Clyde. The High Council of the Scribes specially assigned you for this job. Here is your Special Order."

He handed over a scroll with the seal of the Council. Clyde's heart sank when he saw his new designation and assignment.  He has no choice but to accept this project.  He looked at Anna's dossier again and couldn't help but sigh in frustration.

He is now a G-Class Scribe by virtue of a Special Order. It sounds so fancy and special but it translates as more difficult work for him. He knows that he is an excellent Scribe and he can write whatever it is that they assigned to him. He just knew that being a G-Class Scribe is literally exhausting.

G-Class Scribes are the Guardian Scribes who writes as they keep an eye on their Subject. This is because their Subjects do not have a Plot already set for the story of their life. The Guardian Scribes needs to observe every single action of their Subject and this is why they spend most of their time keeping tabs on their Subject. Now that he is officially a G-Class Scribe, he is bound to his Subject – which means less social life for him and more time with this boring mortal.
