Okay look I stopped watching Voltron a long time ago, after I finished season 2.

But gosh darn it Coran reminds me of Wilford Warfstache. 

The mustache, the attitude, general goofiness, he's really like Wil.

Although maybe more a fanon or fan verison of Wil that's a little more sane and redeemed. Because you know, Coran isn't insane. But they have similar...oh god I hate that I'm going to use this word but they have similar vibes.
