I know I said I wouldn't be on much but I'm watching Jack play Detroit: Become Human and it made me think of if I had an android and if I lived in that kind of world where androids were an issue.
I, being the big softie and also paranoid scared of death person I am, would treat an android like family. Because 1) if it looks like a human and can think for itself to do tasks that normally only humans could do like wash dishes and babysit and all that crap it's a person, if it's an organic organism or not. And 2) I don't want to die in an android uprising.
I'd be nice, say "Please," and "Thank you," and teach it to do the same. I'd teach it right from wrong and basically parent it. And I'd try to make sure people who don't like androids don't bother it. I show it various TV shows and bands and music and books and such and help it develop interests. Because in my opinion the more human like an android the better, maybe it would develop and interest and complex understanding of morals and how nothing is quite black-and-white. And when it inevitably develops emotions I would be the best emotional support I could be. Plus then it could develop a unique personality and be a super fun friend to hang around!
I'd basically treat it like how I would a normal human, I guess. And then, when inevitably other androids who aren't quite so well-treated rise up and revolt against humanity, mine would hopefully defend me because I was nice to them and treated them well and like a person.
I've thought about this kind of stuff a lot. This playthrough is just going to make me think about it even more.
