Chapter Nineteen
"Any idea where they'd be looking?" Lar yelled over to Neuro. They'd been looking for Ash and Griffin for about an hour and there's been no sight of either of the two, "We've gone over NinjaGo about three times and all I see is Nindroid after Nindroid down there."
"They've got to be here somewhere, unless they've been captured, killed or turned into one of them," Neuro told him calmly, "Or, they could already be with the Ninja. Either way we'll find th-" his sentence was cut short in a shriek of distress when a black and silver arrow sliced itself through his knee.
"Neuro!" Lar shouted when Neuro's dragon disappeared. The only thing he could think of to do was go catch him so that's what he did, and he quickly got Neuro situated on the back of his own dragon, "Are you alright?!"
"No I'm not!" Neuro yelled, "There's an arrow through my knee! Get us away from these Nindroids!" both looked to the ground, spotting around two dozen of the robots, among them General Cryptor and Pythor as well.
But Lar, being the sidetracked, broken-boned, woozy boy he was at the time, decided to fly so low that a Droid jumped from the trees and knocked the two from the sky. Lar tumbled a ways away, and Neuro could do nothing but watch because of his own injury, "Lar!"
Neuro made a move to try to get up from his awkward position on the ground, but Pythor slithered in front of him, blocking his view of Lar being dragged through the line of trees and bushes, "We didn't mean for you to get injured, but you would have put up a fight. It'sssssss not you our fight is with. No hard feelings?" Pythor explained quietly and quickly, then slithered after the rest of his departed forces, not waiting for Neuro to reply to the 'No hard feelings?'.

It took quite a while before Neuro was even able to stand, let alone conjure his dragon. By the time he found his dragon it was almost midnight, and his usually good vision was clouded and blurred by the large amount of blood loss, so he told Sonic just to find Ash and Griffin. When Sonic took off at full speed Neuro fell back and decided to take a nap of some sort.
It was probably a blood-loss-induced-shock-coma, something of the sorts.

"Wait, so there's something up with a person's shoulder that, when something happens to it, renders a person unconscious?" Male
"Or dead, or permanently paralyzed, depends on the angle and your strength exerted." Female
There were footsteps, someone moving around the bed, "So... what did you do to Neuro?" Male.
"I may have accidentally paralyzed him, but it's not my fault! He scared the hell out of me, what did you expect? And then he woke up in the middle of me trying to fix his arrow-leg, so I hit him again and... Oops?" Female.
"How long should he be out?" Male.
"Well, if he's even alive yet, he should have been up about a day and a half ago." Female, again.
Nero figured this was the time to wake up. He slowly pried open his eyes, "I've been out for a day and a half?"
Griffin smirked, "Actually, since you got here, you've been out for at least five days."
"Five?!"
"Don't listen to him," the girl grinned, "Only two. Sorry about that, by the way, Neuro. Just don't sneak up on me like that ever again."
Neuro froze, blinking slowly as he looked over the girl's features. Her hair, except for her bangs, was pulled back in a single high ponytail. She brushed her bangs away from her face so the ends rested above her left eye, and she was looking at Neuro with two dark brown eyes that held love and worry, "I'm sorry, do we know each other?"
She laughed nervously, "Neuro, it's me. Don't you recognize me?"
Griffin looked between the two, and saw the confusion setting in on Neuro's face, "You know her, Psyc, just think. It took me about a day and Ash still doesn't believe her."
Neuro pondered for a moment, then dug around in mystery-girl's mind for some answers before one jumped out at him like a spring-loaded leapfrog, "Jade?!"
She nodded vigorously, "In the flesh, not the name though. I'm apparently named Lizz."
"Garmadon?"
"Y-" her eyes went wide, but Lizz was scowling, "How did you know that?"
Neuro sat up, very slowly, and leaned against the headboard of the bed he was in. It was at this new angle he realized that Lizz's yellow tank top matched polka dots on the dark blue walls which, coincidentally, were the same shade as her blue jeans, "You look like Lloyd and Montgomery, and you've got your mother's eyes."
Griffin scowled, "Who?"
"I think that's Garmadon's first name..." Lizz frowned, "It's weird hearing that, everyone only ever calls him Garmadon. Even Lloyd and Misako do. Can you walk yet, Neuro?" she added quickly so no one could question her choice of labels on her family.
"Most likely not, I fear I may be in bed longer than intended. Where are we?"
"Garmadon Monastery. My room to be exact," Lizz slapped a hand over Griffin's mouth before he could speak, "And don't worry. I sanded you a walking stick until your back on both your feet."
"You sanded him a walking stick?" Griffin removed her hand and let it fall back to her side, "What?"
"I woodwork when I'm worried or annoyed," she explained, stepping back and leaning on the wall, "So I took a large stick from Garmadon's shed outside, sawed it down to the length of my leg and sat for two days straight sanding it into pretty much a broom handle. It's all circular expect for the bottom, it's still square. That's the part you put on the ground, ya know? The whole thing doubles as a training stick-thing," The two guys scowled, so she added in a slightly annoyed voice, "I was using it for agility training, and stabbing people. Sometimes I swept out their feet from under them, etcetera etcetera..."
"Oooooooh," Neuro swung his feet out of bed, sitting up. His right knee was wrapped tightly in a bloody bandage, but the pain was slowly receding, "I'm assuming Wu patched me up?"
"No, I did," Lizz looked slightly offended, "Lloyd and Jay wanted to cut off your leg, so your welcome. I'll go get your stick!"
The two watched her bounce from the room, making no noise as she went. griffin's eyebrow was raised, "She's been like that this entire time! I don't know what's gotten into that girl!"
"The complete opposite of Jade..." Neuro hummed, "How peculiar."
"I don't know how long she's going to be gone so I'll ask you now," Griffin sat on Neuro's left, looking thoughtfully at him, "Where. Is. Lar?"

"Kaaaaiiiiiii," Lizz sang as she rounded the corner that led to what she assumed was the sparring room. The door was open and Kai was inside, alone, muttering to himself about something as he flailed his arms around, "Kai!"
He jumped, "Lizz! How long have you been there?"
"About four seconds," she smiled, "Where's that thing I've been turning into a pile of sawdust lately?"
"Your Stabber-Stick?" he asked, moving backwards towards the corner where the Nin-Jo staffs were, "It's over here where you left it last night."
"Well throw it here," Lizz waved her hands, "Neuro needs it as a cane because he's been crippled by some Nindroids."
Kai laughed once, quick and short, as he grabbed the stick in question, "This one?" Lizz nodded. Kai grabbed the homemade staff and took up a defensive position. His grin was that of a mischievous lunatic, and he held out his hand, curling his fingers back in a come-and-get-me motion.
"I don't have time for this, Kai," Lizz rocked back on her heels, crossing her arms across her chest, "Give it here."
"Come and get it if you want it so badly," he mocked, "Unless you're too scared thinking I'll beat you."
"In case you've forgotten, I'm not a trained Ninja with three hundred years of fighting experience stacked behind me. And you, my trainer, has only been training me for two days. Therefore, you know all my moves and how I work."
"I'm not that old. And c'mon," he droned, leaning on the makeshift staff, "It should help your fighting issues, help you learn how to fight and, maybe, with the right guidance, you'll learn Spinjitzu."
"You had me at issues," was the only warning Kai got before he was pinned beneath Lizz on the floor, the staff that had been in his hand currently rolling gently away from his outstretched arm, hand and fingers.
Did he care? Not one bit. His attention was completely focused on Lizz, "How did you do that?" he breathed, his warm, minty breath fanning across her face and gently moving her bangs up. She closed her eyes in content until the breeze stopped, and when she opened them once more Kai was smiling.
"Never let your guard down around me until you know every inch of me and my personality, Kai. Inside and out," she rolled off him, towards the staff, but he was a smidge faster at the time.
Both jumped up, but Kai was in possession of the object, "You want it?"
"Neuro does."
"He can wait, can he not?"
"Maybe not."
Kai groaned, "He's in your bed, and your bed is really comfy, so I think he can wait. Now fight me like a man or leave without your stick."
"Can I drown you?"
"Why?!"
"Because you were in my bed," she took a threatening step closer, "And you're making," step, "Me," step, "Fight you," step, "When I," step, "Don't," step, "Want," step, "To." By now the two were face to face, no space between their bodies, "Give me the staff."
Kai, through the fog in his mind, somehow saw her attack coming. He spun left, right out of the way of her leg that had shot out to sweep his feet out from under him. Lizz followed him, ducking under and jumping over the staff he was using as an upper advantage.
She quickly saw to that and grabbed one for herself, and soon the two were only fighting with their staffs, using them like swords. Up, across, down, both were slicing everywhere, but was too evenly-matched by the other. No one could get a hit.
Kai was mainly stationary, hopping around Lizz's advances as he counter-attacked with his own. Lizz, however, was everywhere and no where at once. Spinning, jumping, slashing, jabbing. He could barely keep up.
Kai held up a hand, "Wait!"
Lizz froze. She'd been in the process of cutting her 'sword' through the air towards the side of Kai's head, and stopped it an inch from his right temple, "Finally giving up?"
"No, I was just going to do this," he whacked her arm, causing her to drop her weapon. When she was successfully unarmed he dropped his too, exchanging it for Lizz's wrist. She was about to object, but was silenced when Kai twirled her towards him so they were chest to chest, "You fight like you dance."
"I don't dance," she whispered, staring at his mesmerizing gold eyes, "And you've never seen me dance even if I did."
"You were dancing around in the back courtyard yesterday listening to you radio," he smirked, leaning in to close the distance, "You're light on your feet."
Someone cleared their throat from the doorway and the two sprang apart. Kai tumbled back, stumbling over his own feet until he finally fell down. Lizz tripped, fell, and tumbled ass-over-tea-kettle twice before her back hit the nearest wooden pillar. Both were scowling at the intruder, who was grinning all-knowingly and leaning against the door frame, "Sorry to barge in like this but Gimpy would like his cane, and has some news that's mainly for Lizz."
And quick as a blink Griffin was gone, leaving Lizz and Kai in a very tense and awkward situation. Lizz stood, brushed herself off and held out her hand as if she could summon the staff like Thor and Mjolnir. She was looking towards the doorway and not at Kai, "Hand it over. Now."
Without a word Kai gave it to her, never taking his eyes off her. Lizz jumped when it was suddenly in her hand, but curled her arm in anyway and started towards the hall. He followed, but only after she rounded the corner and was out of sight.
*
"Neuro think fast!" Lizz jumped around the corner and pretended to throw the staff at the injured man like a spear. She laughed when he flinched and then gently handed it to him, "Should be about the right height, I'm not that much shorter than you."
"Thank you," he took it from her and stood, putting all his weight on that and his left foot. He sighed, "Much better, thank you. What took you so long?"
Lizz gulped. The look Neuro sported said Griffin told him already, "Nothing. So what did you need to tell me?" Lizz asked, putting her elbow on Griffin's shoulder to lean on.
"Unless Griffin was lying," Kai had appeared in the room, and walked past Griffin and Lizz, straight to the large window that took up half the wall. This room had a perfect view of the back of the mountain and the waterfall running down it into the pond that flowed into the river. Right now, however, everything was in full bloom, adding to the beauty. Misako had quite a green thumb. Kai mentally slapped himself, Concentrate, he told himself, turning back to the other three, "He told Lizz you had news."
"I do," Neuro lowered his head, "Let's walk, shall we?" without waiting for an answer he hobbled from the room, getting a hang of his third leg pretty quickly. However, he wasn't very quick, and the other caught up to him very fast. He was hard to hear, though, sounded out of breath and it may have been from the blood loss, "Chen's Palace had been severely compromised, more so than it was before. I thought it was moderately safe, but I snapped when there were Droids inside. Lar was injured," he thwacked Lizz's knees, "Ask questions at the end. Lar was injured in a fight against Chamille and Skylor. Ash virtually escaped unscathed. But I put Blondie on bed rest, and then Griffin ran into Lar's room saying Ash needed me outside so I left and walked right into two of those tin cans," he continued leading the way. When the group passed the living room, everyone smiled and wavd at the inhabitants: Wu, Garmadon and Misako.
"What did they to Lar?" Lizz asked, flinching when Neuro waved his staff.
"I'm not done yet, darling," he chided, pushing open the doors to outside, "Turns out Griffin wasn't Griffin and was actually Chamille. She didn't do anything, just snuck in there to intimidate him, get answers about Ja- Lizz, maybe? I couldn't do anything, but as soon as Chamille stepped back out I was released. Didn't even try chasing them down, I went straight to Lar, undid his restraints and we left."
"So where is he now?" Kai asked, ignoring the fact Neuro just said Lar was tied to the bed. He deserves to be tied up, "He should be here, shouldn't he?"
Neuro stopped and rested against the waist high brick wall on the small stone bridge arching over a small stream that flowed through the yard. The group around him stopped to hear him, all leaning and looking over the clear, fish-filled water, "Yes, Kai, he should be here. He isn't because, and it is my fault, too, I take full blame for what happened. But Lar isn't here because we were looking for Griffin and Ash so we could go look for J-" he sighed, "Lizz together. The Nindroids took him and I couldn't do anything because they maimed me!" his voice cracked at the end.
Lizz's vision blurred and she wobbled on her feet. Kai and Griffin, who were comforting Neuro, sounded as if they were underwater, far away and muffled. Neither noticed her uneasiness. Lar is gone. Taken by the Droids. In horror she recalled something Kai said yesterday about the man who started this whole endeavor.
"I don't think you want to know, Lizz," he shook his head as he timed how long she could hold herself upside down on one hand. It's been two minutes so far.
"C'mon," her voice was strained, "Just-tell-me," Deep breaths. Keep breathing, she reminded herself calmly, "Please."
Kai groaned. He couldn't resist her eyes, especially when she pulled the puppy eyes and batted her eyelashes at him, "Fine. The OverLord had him pretty much reprogrammed and turned into a carrier body for the OverLord himself. There, happy?"
"No!" the sudden outburst made her topple over, onto her back. Lizz sighed, "How long was that?"
"Two minutes and forty-one seconds," Kai was suddenly over her, holding out a hand. Lizz grabbed it and he pulled her to her feet and he smiled at her, "Twelve seconds longer than last time. You need to concentrate, Lizz. Balance is the key to everything in life."
Something hard and uneven jolted Lizz out of her memory, and she realized her balance was lost and she'd fallen over, "No no no no no no......"
Kai was kneeling beside her in a moment, "What is it?"
She looked at him, wide eyed and shaking, "We need to go get him," without trying to control her shaking she stood, "Save him, help him, anything!"
"We'll go tell Sensei, and your parents, they'll know what to do," Kai told Lizz, grabbing her shoulders to hold her still.
She shook off his hands and turned on her heel, back towards the Monastery, "They're not my parents."
