Chapter Five
Jade hoisted herself up above ground level for the second time tonight, peeking around to make sure that he coast was clear from those crazy street-robots that seemed so intent on be-riding of the rod that was currently strapped on her back.
"Coast clear," she muttered to herself, pulling the rest of her above ground, standing and placing the cover back over the hole in which she came from, just enough for her be able to easily slide it back off to go back in. Afterwards, she stood upright, brushing her hands on her jeans as she let her eyes adjust to the darkness surrounding her, "Not even a dang lamppost."
As she tip-toed down the sidewalk, she stayed close to the buildings, being sure to poke her head around corners and see if the coast was clear. Her eyes never even caught any type of movement, not even a mouse.
"Or a bug," she whispered as quietly as possible, "It's too quiet here."
There's was a steady marching sound from behind her, and she jumped into the nearest building; which happened to be a Dojo or Monastery of some sort. Through one of the large windows, she watched as an army of robots marched by in scary, perfect unison.
Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. Right. She watched their mesmerizing feet go by, and her eyes trailed up to their bodies and faces. One simple red eye, and the other was covered by a silver cover that ran over their head. Over their Ninja hood and down their back to join the rest of their electronical gadgets and innards. They were an army of Robot-Ninja. Nindroids.
Jade shuddered, "I need to get out of here," But her feet kept her rooted to the spot as one came from an alleyway with, "Pythor," she snarled lowly, glaring at the used-to-be-purple-and-black only living member of the Anacondrai. He was now white and purple from having been inside the Great Devourer for sometime. He was conversing with a singlular Nindroid.
"We need to find the Ninja, General," Pythor hissed angrily, voice raspier than before, "We cannot let them escape."
"The troops," the electronic voice of the General was freaky and sent a cold shudder down Jade's spinal cord, "Are beginning to lose faith in whether or not the OverLord is actually alive or you have just been lying to us."
Pythor got all up the the robot's face now, "He will show himself when necessary and may I remind you, General, you can always be reprogrammed. Now get back to finding those cursed Ninja!"
General nodded and went back to his troops, dispersing them all around the city and everywhere. Two of them were headed straight for Jade's hiding place, sending her into a panic. Quickly, she jumped up and hid by the weapons cabinet in the corner, reaching for the Shurikens before anything else. As the two burst through the door, immediately they spotted her, heading straight for her. In one fluid movement she threw the Shurikens at the one furthest back, pinning him to the wall as he struggled to get his target.
With the one temporarily confined at the moment, she blindly grabbed the silver Scythe from it's holder and swung wildly at the advancing robot. Though, she saw as she swung, her hands must have grabbed the wrong weapon from her original target, grabbing her golden rod instead. As the end neared the Droid, time seemed to have slowed itself; Jade could see every small movement happening everywhere.
It's going to break, she thought in a flash of horror, It's going to break and I am going to die.
But it didn't break. Before she hit the thing a blade appeared out from the end, dark blue see through-like tinted glass ablaze with dark blue electrical current. The moment it touched the Droid, the currents transferred from the blade to the robot, making it freeze and seize up, eventually collapsing on the floor in front of her.
She froze, lowering the weapon and looking at it, "What the-?" suddenly an idea popped into her head, and she moved towards the still struggling Droid that was Shurikened to the wall, "And if I tap you. . . ?" she did exactly that, tapping the blade to his forehead. He too, as Jade guessed, shut down, making her bark a laugh. She realized her mistake: three more Nindroids burst through the door, making her gulp and making the Blade shrink back into the singular golden rod, "Uh oh. Time for me to make like a snake and slither."
The three walking tin cans trailed closely behind her, shooting what she assumed to be lasers from that silver-plated eyeball of theirs.
So high tech, she acknowledged as she ran, A few hours ago I'd never thought any of this was possible. Like straight out of a corny spy movie.
With a few extra long strides, she lurched forward towards her trusty manhole, quickly pushing the cover off and jumping in, not even bothering to replace the cover, (The city will put it back on), as she made a run for it. Her hopes of escaping sank even lower when there were several splashes from behind her.
Dammit! she mentally snarled as she pushed her speed to the max, taking every twist and turn she could to lose them, I know these tunnels like the back of my hand. Catch me if you can, you stupid sacks of nuts and bolts! Haha!

"Nindroid attack in the city!" Kai screamed, "We have to go!"
"No," Sensei scolded his frantic team of Ninja, who, all except Zane, were running around like maniacs on the deck of the Bounty, "You cannot go into the city, it is what the OverLord would want. My brother and I will go, while you all must hide."
They all nodded and un-froze, transforming their weapons into their vehicles and going their separate ways. Kai drove back into the city, against Sensei's orders, knowing the perfect place to hide.
"Where's everyone going, persay?" Kai asked the rest of his teammates through the connected intercom system through their vehicles.
"Floating Ruins," came Jay's smooth voice, "The only place I thought of."
"Where this entire thing started," Cole's voice came through, and for a moment Kai thought of the old Monastery ruins, burned down a long time ago, but Cole contradicted his thoughts, "Caves of Despair."
"Oh," Kai smiled at the thought of his younger self, when he was somewhat more danger-prone and only cared about his video game high scores, "Thought you meant the old Monastery."
Cole's voice was replaced by Zane's ice cold one, "I am going to the Frozen Wasteland. No one will ever find me there. And even if they did they cannot withstand the cold long enough to catch me."
"Where are you going?" Cole asked, voice distant and barely heard over the purr of the engine.
"Grand Sensei Dareth's Mojo Dojo," Kai grinned as he sped up, foot flat on the floor as he weaved between buildings. He hovered above his desired destination and turned his jet back into his Techno-Blade, falling gently on the rooftop.
He ducked behind the roof ledge thing as he watched hundreds of Nindroids scampering back and forth through the streets, terrorizing innocent people.
"I have to go help," he made to stand up, but Sensei's general concept of his previous words flashed through Kai's mind: Must stay hidden. So, doing exactly that, he jumped into the back alleyway and into the empty Dojo, where he froze in the doorway.
His eyes swept over the carnage before him: one crumpled Nindroid body laid in the middle of the room, twitching from some sort of electronic surge. There was another twitching corpse as well, only that one was pinned against the wall with a pair of silver Shurikens. He could tell just by looking between the two they'd both suffered the same wave of current.
There was a clattering noise from behind him, making him spin around and search for the source of the noise. There was nothing there, nothing different except the plaid shoe that was in the doorway.
Intruder! he mentally shouting, running forward to catch the person. Once out into the streets he saw that he was chasing the same girl from earlier today, only this time he got a better look at her, and noticed the pipe that was on her back wasn't actually a pipe, but a, "Techno-Blade!"
"What?!" he heard her feathery squeak, making her move faster. He kept even pace with her, though, determined to see why she had a Blade only meant for Ninja.
Soon enough, though, she stopped, looked around and jumped. But didn't hit the pavement, only falling through a hole in the pavement. He followed closely, and wondered why any girl would willingly go into the sewers of New NinjaGo City.
"Quit chasing me!" she half-fake panted, but she didn't slow down any, "What's your issue?!" and with those words she suddenly disappeared.
Kai slowed to a stop, "What-?" he leaned against the wall to catch his breath, then sighed to climb back above ground, poking his head into the deserted street. Eyes scanning his surroundings, he spotted the blue-outfitted girl with soaked-to-the-knees pants, leaning against an alleyway wall watching him with concentrated eyes, chest heaving up and down as she calmed her breath.
Kai shook his head and jumped up, sliding the cover back over the underground entrance then walking over to her. He saw her flinch just a bit, but otherwise the intriguing girl stood her ground, "I'm not afraid of you."
"Then why were you running?" Kai leaned his shoulder against the wall, watching her features, Up close she looked even more like a younger Misako.
"I-" she hesitated, "I don't like. . . . New people," he could tell that was a lie, but didn't want to push it further for fear of her bolting again, because really, he did not have the lung capacity for two long runs in a row.
"Why do you wear your hair like that?" he changed the subject, motioning towards her bangs that fell over her left eye, concealing it completely, "Why hide such a beautiful face?" Why did I just say that?!
He watched her pink lips turn up into a small grin, but nothing else changed, "I'm not in the mood to tell. Ask a bit later, will ya?"
"So," he nodded, "Are you indicating that we'll meet again?"
She shrugged, "Well, I dunno."
He couldn't help but smile at her, but his smile soon faded as he remembered why he was chasing her in the first place, "Um, what's that?" he asked, nodding at the pipe on her back.
She jolted, as if she was going to run, but just blinked wildly, "I. . . . . Don't know what you're talking about."
"This one, right here," Kai joked, grabbing the thing from off her back. It surprised him by springing into the blazing blade. He went wide eyed and panicked-looking, dropped the blade and lurched at the girl.
