Chapter Eighteen
"Jade? Jade!"
Cole was sent to find Jade, since Nya said she was up and about and had been for at least twenty minutes. Yet, no one has seen her, and the fact someone screamed before may have had something to do with it. Thusly leading him towards the bunk-rooms. Cole walked past the open bathroom door, and from his peripheral vision he saw a large blue mass of something and dismissed it. Lloyd probably left the towels on the floor after his shower again. But then he backtracked to get a better look, because it looked like the towels had legs.
Now he was kneeling on the floor, cradling Jade's head in his lap as he leaned over her, "Jade Whatever-Your-Middle-Name-Is Vess, wake up." Please don't be dead! It'll be my fault if your dead, dammit.
The unconscious girl in his lap shuddered and gasped, jerking upright so fast her forehead almost hit Cole's, "What happened?"
"Jade, look at me," she half turned to look at him and Cole recoiled when he was met with a set, a set of dark brown eyes. Not one brown and one red, "J-Jade, are you okay?"
"Never better now that I've smacked my head on the corner of the sink and the wooden floor and knocked some sense into myself," she beamed, happily flashing a full out grin before jumping up and helping Cole to his feet too, "Nya said there was food?"
"Yeah... Jay made lunch," What happened to her? "Are you sure you're feeling okay?"
"Just peachy, Brookstone, calm your nuts." Why is everyone concerned with my well being?
He allowed the girl to drag him down the hallway, where they almost collided with Kai, "Whoa, sorry guys."
"Heeyyyy Kai," Jade was smiling too much since she woke up.
Kai furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Cole. Why is she acting like that?"
Cole shook his head ferociously, trying to communicate back, Don't say anything, Smith!
Kai nodded very unnoticably, "Well, I've been told to meet Lloyd on the deck, so I'll see you guys later."
Jade stiffened at the mention of Lloyd, "Wait, Lloyd is here? Where?"
Does she not remember anything from yesterday? "Jade, Kai just said he's on the deck."
"I'll meet you guys up there, I need some food first," she started towards the kitchen, "Go. I'll be right there."
The two boys turned away, towards the stairs leading to the deck, while Jade continued onward towards the smell of steak. When she stepped into the kitchen, Jade twirled just for the sake of having her dress fan out, and she twirled directly into someone. She staggered back into the hall and smoothed out her dress, looking at him and his mop of grey hair, "Sorry, dad."
Both of them froze, staring dumbstruck at each other until Garmadon decided to find his voice, "You - You called me... dad."
"I did..." her eyes darted back and forth, looking at anything but him, "I did!"
Garmadon took a hesitant step forward, "Lizz?"
It only took that one syllable four letter word to make her jump on the Sensei and give him the hardest hug she'd ever given. There was a moment of hesitation, a split second, from Garmadon before he wrapped his arms around her and returned the hug. They stood in the embrace for a minute before being silently joined by another set of arms.
"Mom?" the youngest of the three choked, her voice cracking with the one whisper. The six years of lost memories, memories that had been suppressed by the Serpentine block, broken bits and pieces of memories, came flooding back like water from a broken dam.
She perked up, wriggling free of her parent's grasps, "Lloyd..."
Without grabbing the food she'd originally went to the kitchen for, she made a break for the stairs that led to the top deck, jumping them two at a time. Cole, Kai and Lloyd all stopped what they were doing and turned to look at the newcomer who just ran past Cole and Kai and jumped into Lloyd.
He swayed a little under the sudden weight, but didn't fall. Almost automatically Lloyd wrapped his arms around his little sister, who... wasn't so little anymore, "Whoa! Jade?"
"Lloyd," she stepped back once, getting a better look at him, "Lloyd!"
"Okay, okay..." he stopped for a minute, looking at her for the first time, "You're... Lizz. You're Lizz! But... Older. How old are you?"
"Three years younger than you."
"But you don't look three years younger than him," Kai motioned to the two of them. Both the exact same height, and both looked exactly nineteen, "You look like his twin."
"I do?"
"You do!" the three boys yelled in unison.
She stepped back and looked at Lloyd. I suppose, she thought, giving him a glance up and down, In some people's eyes I do look like a genderbent him. "But that's impossible, I'm not his twin."
Cole picked this precise moment to remember something, "We need to train you. The sooner the better."
"Wait, me?" she turned to face Cole, "I don't fight. I'm a lover, not a fighter!" That of course was a complete lie. Lizz was always trying to pick a fight with anyone and everyone she met, and Lloyd knew that.
To prove his theory he began tiptoeing up behind her, to see what she would do. He successfully locked her hands across her chest, immobilizing her for the time being, "Got you, Lizz!" he chuckled in her ear.
She shook her head once, and in one fluid movement turned her hands towards the deck, thrust her hips back into Lloyd's and flung him over her back towards Cole and Kai. He rolled twice and landed in a crouch, facing his newest opponent with a maniacal grin.
The girl facing him had the same look in her eyes as she jumped at him, feet first, to land a jump kick on his chest. Sadly, he saw that coming and dodged it with a sidestep. Before his opponent could regain her composure and attack once more, Lloyd turned on her and set his foot on her back, as a sign of triumph, "I win."
But, of course, the stubborn other half of the fight wouldn't give up so easily. She pressed her palms flat to the surface of the Bounty's deck, as if she were ready for a push-up. That wasn't all she did, though. The push-up was to throw Lloyd on his back, for loss of balance, but as that happened Lizz jumped up and jumped back-first on top of Lloyd.
He groaned wordlessly and flipped Lizz off him, jumping after her. Cole looked over at Kai, "We should probably just leave them be. If she's anything like her brother they'll be fighting all night."
Kai led the way back inside, his voice reverberating off the walls and reaching Cole's ears loud and clear, "Are we seriously just going to believe that she's completely back to normal? Like, how she was before the Serpentine got a hold of her?"
"I am, at least for now," Cole shrugged, "I have no idea what she's supposed to be like, but Garmadon and Wu both said that the cure would take it's hold in her system overnight and that side effects may occur while her real memories start surfacing and Jade leaves for good."
"Two questions," Kai stopped right outside the small kitchen door and leaned against the wall, "One. How did you even get her to take it? I went to sleep at about eleven, woke up standing in the kitchen while everyone was eating breakfast," he added to himself, then shook his head and spoke to Cole again, "But you and her were arguing when I went to sleep. It didn't seem like she was going to crack, what did you do?"
"I could already tell that she was half asleep," Cole started, leaning across from the spike-haired boy, "And, if she was anything like me, her eyes were burning and she was seeing double, or blurry, both or neither. I took a chance and decided to put the serum in both sandwiches that I'd just made, and then when her blinking went really slow I knew that she was nodding off. When people are tired they agree to almost anything, so I purposed we both eat. If I did, she would to."
"It didn't do anything to you?"
"Nothing so far. Second question?"
"What are the side effects?" Kai asked slowly, expecting a really long list like those medication commercials. Nausea, liver failure, heart issues, death, etc...
Before Cole would answer, Lloyd ran through their conversation, stopped towards the end of the hall, turned and ran back, "I don't know what happened."
"Lloyd," Cole groaned, "What did you do?"
"I didn't do anything! One minute she was about to attack me and the next she tipped over like Dareth when he's trying to fight one of us!"
Cole put a hand on the blonde's shoulder and squeezed, "Lloyd, it's fine. She's fine. Calm down."
Lloyd's eyes drooped and soon he fell to the floor. Kai looked alarmed, "What did you do?!"
"I don't know, maybe there's a pressure point on the shoulder somewhere," he stepped over him, "As I was saying, Kai, Sensei said that the main side effect would be frequent blackouts. Otherwise there may be some appetite loss, insomnia, headaches and possibly some nausea too."
"Doesn't sound too bad," Kai realized after a moment, "Could've been worse, really." he stepped into the game room after Cole.
Both sat down on the couch, and Cole grabbed the remote to turn on the TV, "Yeah. It could've been all the gross side effects and stuff."
"Except for the possible frequent nausea."
"Yeah."
A long, somewhat awkward pause ensued after that, and the two began watching whatever movie Cole turned on to waste time.

"You seem pretty cool with what's happened to you," Nya sat on her bed and watched Lizz fret around on her own side of the room, unpacking things, folding them, unfolding, rearranging pretty much everything that was perfectly fine where it was.
And Lizz, once her blackened vision had cleared up from her thirty-minute pass-out on the deck, had gone straight to her and Nya's room to clear her mind and sort out her life. She stopped, holding up a short-sleeved neon pink dress with black polka-dots, the exact material of the blue one she had on and the exact shape, too, "Actually, Nya, no, I am not 'cool' with any of this," she dropped the dress on her bed and sat on it, looking at Nya, "I'm freaking out about this entire week!"
"Wanna talk about it?" Nya was, obviously, concerned for Lizz's well being, but she was also trying to weasel some news and information about anything out of her, too, "I'm always here to listen."
"My entire life I've been a Serpentine. A Hypnobrai, and I never questioned it until I tackled Jay. Then Selma, my mother, bot all up and arms because I was above ground, and I fired back with, 'Your people took the oath to stay underground, not me!' It was the first time I'd ever questioned it, Nya, and I don't know why. And then, all of a sudden, all these Droids are after me, saying they want that- that Blade that I don't know how to work. Then you guys kidnap me and hold me hostage, upside down, for no reason. We're in a flying ship! Why was I tied up, it's not like I can go anywhere!" she ranted, waving her arms in dramatic motions that, had anyone been near, would have knocked them over or poked out an eyeball, "Then I leave, and run into Lar, who popped out of the trees and scared me so much I controlled the river water! How is that even remotely possible!? He explained, like, life to me, pretty much, and I fell in love with him because he accepted me for me, only to find out he never loved me back and he was only using me to get the Techno-Blade that Borg gave to me in the first place! Now I'm back here, I've been drugged by Cole and turned not-Serpentine and I've got an actual family that I know nothing about and I keep blacking out and everyone says I need to train for something and I don't know why!"
Nya's mind went reeling after she'd heard the part about the river, "Could you repeat that, please?"
Lizz groaned and rolled her eyes, taking a really deep inhale of breath, "My entire life I've been a -"
"No, no, not the entire thing," Nya waved her arms, "The part about the river. Explain that in more detail, please."
"After I left I was by the river, hanging in a tree yelling at that damn Techno-Blade because I didn't know what it was, and Lar said that it was a Techno-Blade. He scared me, so I flipped out of the tree and waved up my hand to protect myself from danger. For so reason unknown to mankind the water followed my hand and tried to drown Lar, who inevitably blocked my attack," Lizz explained, "I, then, started freaking out about what just happened and he said that I was an Elemental Master, whatever that means, and the Master of Water. But, looking back, I think he was making the water move and not me."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Positive! I'm not a water Master. Sure I like water as much as a fish does, but that's no excuse, I'm sure everyone does," her face fell when she saw Nya's look, "Right? There's no possible way. Nya? Right?"
Suddenly, Nya jumped up, grabbed Lizz's arm and pulled her towards Sensei Wu's room, "We need to tell Sensei!"
A/N: "Shadow" His real name is actually Shade, so remember now that Shadow is Shade. Same with "Camille" whose name is spelled with an 'H' So "Camille" is now "Chamille"
