Grady's perspective:
Grady led Aramis down the hall on the second floor of Havenfield. Mr. Forkle had decided that, for the time being, it would be best to house the strange woman there.
He stopped at a closed door and turned to his guest. "Here we are." He pushed open the door to the dark room.
He hesitated before opening the curtains. He hadn't been in Jolie's room a while. It was odd to see it so empty.
Edaline had never finished cleaning it out, but they had made some progress.
Aramis ran a hand along the bed. "Thank you for letting me into your home."
He nodded. "Of course. It's about time this room was put to use."
Aramis sat on the bed and Grady moved towards the door.
He paused. "I'm sorry about what the Neverseen did to you."
Sophie had explained Aramis' story at length.
Aramis gently caressed the soft blankets. "It's alright. It's in the past now, and it wasn't your fault." She sighed. "I just feel sorry for whoever else they did it to."
Grady stared at the floor.
"Is there something your not telling me, Mr. Ruewen?" Her question drew his eyes to hers.
"No... yes." He admitted. "We... already know who the father is."
Aramis jumped up from the bed. "What?! Who is it?"
Grady sucked in a long breath. "It's... me."
Aramis stared at him in wonder.
"I didn't have to endure the same thing you did." Grady met her bewildered gaze. "My daughter's fiancé was a member of the Neverseen - a Pyrokinetic banned from using his ability.
"Before he died, he would've had easy access to my DNA. And it's been confirmed by the man behind the project."
"And you trust him?" He could almost feel the apprehension in her voice.
"No, but I trust Valerie and she's the most powerful Mesmer in the world." Grady replied.
"Valerie?" Aramis breathed the name. "Sophie told me what happened to her - what the Neverseen did." She clenched her fists and frost formed on her fingers. "That's one more thing they've twisted and destroyed."
Grady grabbed her icy hand. "It's not over yet."
The frost melted.
"There has to be a trigger for her memories. We just have to find it." Grady looked hopefully into her eyes.
She took a deep breath and smiled. "Let's get our daughter back."
