Kate's POV

I never thought Humphrey could end up like this. As we run back to our territory, I gaze at Humphrey. I notice silver on his legs.

"Humphrey, what are those?" I ask, pointing to the silver disks strapped to his legs. 

"These are weights, the humans invented them. They are very heavy for their size. Feel." Humphrey answers in his huskey voice. I feel the weights. 

"Wow! These are so heavy!" I exclaim.

"Yeah, well, when you are the leader of a continental organization with highly trained elite teams, you have to keep in shape. Plus, who would train the elite to become elite in the first place?" He answers.

"How many soldiers did you bring?" I ask.

"6, not including myself. It is my original friend group and their spouses. They make up Elite Wolf Squad Alpha. They are especially proficient in log-boarding. You should have the basics down from that time with the bears. I recruited them, too, by the way. They make up Bear Assault Squad Delta. I recruited many animals that you know. You should come visit sometime." He answers. I am baffled at how formal and organized he has become. I kind of miss Old Humphrey.

"Don't worry, once I warm up to you, I'll become a lot more open." He assures. I hope so. We arrive at Home Base to see 6 wolves helping out with healing, cooking, and training. These must be the 6.

"We have Salty teaching combat, Shakey teaching log-boarding, and Mooch teaching how to make use of your surroundings. Piper, Salty's mate, is teaching strategy, Joule, Shakey's mate is teaching healing. Cosmos, Mooch's mate is teaching preparation of meals. The females are teaching their strong suit, but the males don't have a preference. Any changes I should make?" Humphrey asks.

"No, this is just fine." I answer. 

"Kate! Is this your boyfriend?" Lily asks as Garth and her walk up. 

"No Lily. This is a wolf none of us have seen in a while. This is Humphrey the Omega." They look surprised at the fact he is so muscular. 

"You are a big one, aren't ya? You're practically a moose! Where are you hidin' them antlers?" Garth asks sarcastically as we all remember this talk.

"Who's the coyote?" Humphrey asks. 

"No one in particular. Now Kate, why don't you take Little Coyote Garth and run along." Lily says.

"Aww, you're so mean to me Lily!" Garth complains. We all laugh.

"Garth, you forgot my legendary 'dramatic entrance!" Humphrey whines.

"That entrance was legendary and it was dramatic, but not in a good way." Garth says, wrinkling his nose at the thought. Lily and I giggle. Maybe this war would end well after all.
