Chapter 5
Ezra's P.O.V
I watched all the trees move pass by and the wind blow on my face. It was silent between all of us and I was a little scared. If they were rebels, then what and where are they taking us? Kanan, Hera, and Sabine were all rich, well Sabine technically isn't but do they know that? Will the rebels harm my new family? Do they know that I was poor then became a rich?
"I know you are all confused and scared that we just came out of no where and taking you to a place that you're not aware of..." That Rex guy said, "but believe me when I say that we really want to help you folks." "Why are you helping us?" Sabine asked. "We were looking for any survivors," Rex explained, "so far, you four are the only ones we found that doesn't look like a zombie."
"What zombie?" I asked confused. "They are living dead people that eat brains and can make others into zombies with one bite," Sabine said. "He was referring to the wealthy people but they are not dead," Hera said, "They just seemed more like they are brainwashed or something?" I didn't know how to feel right now. Should I be happy they aren't real zombies or sad, knowing that they sort of act like one.
"Do you know why almost all of the wealthy are acting like this?" Kanan asked. Rex didn't reply quickly, "......uh, we don't exactly know..." There was something in his voice that made him sound like he was lying. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on these rebels. They are hiding something and I'm going to figure it out.
I looked over at Kanan, Hera and Sabine and they seem to have the same thoughts as me. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that caught the lie. I glanced to the front of the car and saw that we are heading towards a mountain. "We're here," Rex said. I looked around but didn't see any entrance. That's until the ground started to lower to reveal a secret ramp.
We drove into a tunnel with the other cars following. A minute later of driving through the tunnel, a light began to appear ahead. Soon we were out of the cave and in some kind of small village. "Welcome to Tarkin town," Rex said, "These people are refugees from other towns or cities, maybe there are some from where you came from."
I looked around at the people in the town. They seem a lot like......me. Poor. "These people ran away from there old homes to start a new life when they found out that the government was horrible to everyone and sometimes them," Rex explained. We passed through the whole village and went somewhere else.
"Are we living in the village?" Hera asked. "For the mean time, yes," he answered. "What do you mean when you say 'mean time?'" Sabine asked suspiciously. "I want you to meet someone," Rex said. "Sorry, I'm not letting anyone near the rebellion, if you really think I'm just going to let my family be in some war then you are wrong," Kanan said angrily.
We all looked at Kanan and Rex. There was a tense feeling between the two and I wasn't liking it one bit. "Captain, we are here," the driver said. The guy parked the car and we all got out of the car. "There you are Captain Rex," A guy said. "Commander Sato," Rex greeted, "We found these four in the forest being attack by a huge mob of zombified buggers."
"It is nice to meet you," This Commader dude said. "Hi, I'm Hera," Hera greeted, "This is Kanan, Sabine and Ezra." The three of us looked at her surprised. What was she doing? We don't even know them and Hera just randomly said our names! "Can you please follow me?" Sato asked and we walked behind him. He showed us around the rebel base.
It was pretty cool in the base. There was all sorts of things that I've never seen or heard about before. "Hera?" A voice came from somewhere. We all turned to see a lady. "Ahsoka," Hera said in disbelief and hugged the women. I was entirely shocked and evidently Kanan and Sabine were too.
"Who's this?" Kanan asked. Hera let go of Ahsoka and said, "This was my old friend, Ahsoka. She was partners with the head chief of the police station." "I thought you were dead," Ahsoka exclaimed in relief. "I did too!" Hera replied, "It's great to see you again." They both smiled at each other. "Well, this was an unexpected turn of events," Sabine said.
I nodded in approval. This day keeps getting weirder and weirder as it goes. "Ahsoka, can you please take them to where they will be staying?" Sato asked. Ahsoka nodded and showed us to a medium sized hut for us. "You'll be staying here and if you need anything just find me, Sato or Rex," she said and left. We looked around the cozy hut and found made sleeping arrangements.
"Kids, get some rest," Hera said as we sat in our cots. Sabine yawned and laid down, "This is way more comfortable that the ground." I laughed a bit and laid down too but I wasn't going to sleep. I knew that Hera was going to do something, I just didn't know what yet.
A little while later, I hear Hera say something to Kanan. Then footsteps walk away to somewhere else. I turned to see Kanan entering a different room and I guessed that Hera was in there too. I quietly got up and walked over to the closed door. I put my ear up to it and listened to the conversation.
"What is going on between you and Rex?" I hear Hera ask. "Why, do you know him cause you surely didn't tell me that you knew that Ahsoka woman," I heard Kanan argue. "I thought Ahsoka was dead and was trying to leave the past behind me," Hera admitted, "I'm sore I didn't tell you I just..." There was a pause until Kanan continued, "I understand."
"Just please tell me, with Rex that is making overprotective like this," Hera pleaded. I heard a sigh from the other side of the door. Then, what Kanan says, shocks me. "He killed Depa, my step-mother."
