Sasha Shadows

Still tangled up with my decision, I look out of the window, bracing one side of my cheek with my right hand and sigh. The weather today is quite good for me to go for a walk, but old rumours that stated the unavailability of ghosts being exposed to sunlight like vampires are haunting me.

I've heard that not every ghost can walk in the daylight. If do, they would evaporate and fade away, never to be reincarnated. The consequences presumed by the old generation are serious and grim, which makes me wonder more about my future once I step foot out of this door.

But all of a sudden, a voice calls, "Sasha Danielle Shadows. Sasha Danielle Shadows..." The voice is sonorous as if it is spoken in the hall. Turning my head to all direction, I still fail to mark the voice source with my vision. "Sasha Danielle Shadows," repeats the voice again, this time, beside my ears and sounds clearer.

Gasping, I whip my head towards left and see a half-transparent elemental people. She looks like a 5-year-old, fair skin, blue eyes and sandy brown hair. Her laced black dress doesn't really suits her childlike appearance but her smile is sweet when she takes in the sight of me finally notice her.

"Sasha Danielle Shadows," she utters with her cute little girl voice again. "You are wondering whether or not should you walk out to the sunlight, am I right?" And there she guesses the right thing through her sweet pink lips.

My eyes widen. "How do you know?" I ask in bewilderment.

"Your thoughts are screaming loud through your skull, I can hear that," by the time she admits, my smile disappears as I can vaguely see the silhouette of a human skull peering through her face. "I'm here to tell you not to step outside your house, because something will catch you." There she says grimly and shiver runs down my spine. Although I, myself has already turned into a ghost for a few days, I'm not fully habituated to the cold aura surrounding most of such elements.

Let alone the words spoken from their mouths.

"Who are you?" I question with my eyes narrowed.

The girl smiles again. "My name is Isabelle and I am your future tourist guide in Hell." Another coldness creeps down my back in a fairly fast speed, making me shudder for the second time.

Deep in my thoughts, I truly hope that I'm not the only one thinking that such words are not supposed to be spoken through those plump lips of hers, as those lines doesn't even suit her awkwardly angelic face (the translucent skull shape in her face is ruining her reputation). "So you're one of the emissaries from Hell?" I confirm while the girl nods with an affirming hum. "Get out of my house," is what I demand with my coldest demeanor.

But the little girl doesn't budge. The same smile is still plastered on her face. "I can't." Contrasting with the negative answer, her tone sounds rather cheerful.

"Why?" I ask, crossing my arms with my head tilted in annoyance. "Because you wanna take me to Hell?"

Her amused smile annoys me more. "Not exactly as you haven't reach the due date of your life yet," Isabelle reveals when my stomach boils with the urge to throw her out of the building. "For now, I'm here to help you in fulfilling your wishes."

How does she even know about my wish list?

"I suggest you mind your own hellish business, kid. Since you are a tour guide from Hell, why don't you go and find other people who is about to enter that front door?" Ever since this little girl has revealed her purpose of seeing me, I've seen her as my enemy from then on.

Arrogantly, Isabelle huffs upon my suggestion. "I'm so sorry to say that my mission is on you, Sasha Danielle Shadows."

_____

After minutes or almost an hour of calming myself down, I finally take in a deep breath before calling, "Isabelle."

"Yes?" Raising her head up from her packet of drink, the little girl responds.

"You're saying that you'll help me to fulfil my wish, right?" I ask and she nods vaguely. "Tell your manager that these are my wishes, and I should be the one granting it." I insist. "So there's no use of you helping me throughout the process."

Standing up from the couch, the hem of Isabelle's dress wavers with the blowing breeze. "Of course there are things that you'll need from me," her voice has turned less cheerful than just now. Yet, I roll my eyes skywards upon her answer. "But not for the IMPOSSIBLE wish you're going to achieve tonight," Isabelle gives me a wink when I eye her in disgust.

I hate busybody kids.

And Isabelle is more than that.

"Then please don't bother me when I have my fun time tonight," I cast her a shoulder glance, reminding with my rather harsh tone. The fact that she doesn't even wince like normal children is pissing me off.

_____

Under Isabelle's appearance in my living room, I continue to stare at the darkening sky before taking a glance at the clock.

It's almost time.

Strangely, the space surrounding me hasn't started to spin yet, indicating that I have yet to teleport to the destined place for me tonight. The girl on my couch is staring at me with her chin rested on her forearms, her faint smile balls my fist unconditionally. "Stop examining me, brat," I snarl at her. "I will return when the wish is fulfilled. So kindly please go back to your own realm and have your tea party, Isabelle."

"That's a good idea," she chirps surprisingly. "I'll see you in a bit then."

"Or not," I whisper under the skin while watching her disappear with a whisk. "Phew, she finally left," I sigh, waiting for my body to do the mentioned trick.

Just as expected, the world around me swirls and not long after, I've now arrived at the destination – the Fun Fair. Lights with different colours blaze at every corner while loud music blasts through the speakers of every play station, forming an extremely noisy yet enjoying place for the people here.

I look around and find no sign of Isabelle. Her appearance will ruin my mood for sure and I don't wish this to happen. Yet, I avert my attention onto the families, couples and loners lining up at the ticket office.

Similar to the first wish, I won't need a ticket or token to play the games. And the thought drives out my bright grin as I walk pass the entrance. But a gasp flies off of my mouth when I spot the incoming crowd. Instinctively, I move away to avoid bumping into them.

However, the scene which a child running through me with a helium balloon wakes my realization up – I am still invisible. And it's been days since I'd bumped my head so hard on the ground. Time is what I need to get used to being invisible, and this appears to be one of my training ground.

Soon, my gaze fixates at the bumper car station. But even if I'm seated in one of them, the car won't even move an inch because no one knows I'm here to play, let alone the car controller himself. As I'm about to give up my desire, a group of boys catch my attention.

There are four of them. And they are all shining brightly with their smart attires and styles along their way. Girls passing by them will never miss their chance to spare a glance at them.

No way.

Those familiar faces are hitting me hard like a brick from the tenth floor. And out of the four hot boys, Clerence is one of them.
