🌊 XLIII 🌊
"Water can burn you and freeze you, don't mess with it"
43| ICY DESTINY
"Isolde?" Ahmeya asks the girl as she noticed her walking in the hallways. However, her friend does not seem to have noticed her there or watching. All that the future Queen does is walk the hallways, as if she were lost in a trance. Confused, Ahmeya walks over to her friend and takes her wrists. Stopping her and forcing her to look into her black eyes. Ahmeya stares at her but even now Isolde does not seem to see her friend there. "Isolde?" She tries again. Confused at why her friend is acting this way when she was fine the last time she saw her.
Ahmeya knows exactly where she has been and with whom she has been with. Poseidon has not harmed her, he could never harm this girl. Though, it does appear like something has happened to her friend. The once bright emerald green eyes of the future Queen and her friend are now as dull as ever, appearing like the girl is not there at all. And she wonders if she is there with her. This causes her to worry about Isolde. The ocean nymph then takes Isolde's hand and begins to drag her towards the only person that might know.
Or perhaps the second one that might know, because the one that is the first is somewhere that Ahmeya cannot enter, and she will not be able to fetch him. She goes towards the room where Terra has made himself comfortable for the time being. Much to his brother's dismay. Isolde resists going the direction that her friend is pulling her, wanting nothing more than go the other way, the way that she was heading before. Because of her worry, the ocean nymph refuses to let the girl go that way, for it can only mean bad things.
When it comes to Isolde there is much that wants to kill her. They have yet to know if she possesses immortality and there is a change that she doesn't. She has almost died before, and if she were to die then the kingdom of the ocean will fall alongside her. The only way that she will achieve perfect immortality and a guaranteed one for that matter is to be with Poseidon. Which, with Isolde will be a long road, but a road to somewhere indeed. With worry, Ahmeya takes her to the door and starts to bang on it.
Even the banging on the door as loud as she could do nothing to the girl and to break her out of that trance. The same one that has her in this strange dream like state. Seeing the strongest woman that Ahmeya has ever met look like this is a cause for worry, and it is exactly what she does. When some seconds pass, and he has not yet come to the door, she proceeds to knock even harder this time. How she has not yet broken the door or her fingers for that matter is a miracle.
Once the door does open and Terra stares at her with raised eyebrows and a smirk. "What is the meaning of this? I for one, do enjoy sleeping once in a while, unless you wish to join, I suggest you leave" He speaks but all that Ahmeya does is push past him and walk into the room. Holding firmly on her friend's wrists and drags her inside the room where she forces her to sit on the bed. "What is wrong with her?" She asks him with a hard look on her face. He chuckles. "She's the way that she is" He speaks.
An answer that the ocean nymph did not want to get from him. "Do you see how she is? How has she not started to act in the way that she would, speaking with anger and cleverness and come up with things to punish those that have harmed her or for the fun of it. Does she not concern you?" She asks him. Narrowing her eyes at him. If she was angry at him beforehand, she's definitely angry at him now, and it shows on her faces. Off she feels more anger now than worry, she doesn't know.
He shrugs and looks at Isolde on the bed, who stars blankly at the wall in front of her. "This girl is all right according to her standers. I cannot sense anything that could be threatening her life. Mostly I see that she is following her destiny, like she is meant to. You are the rock that stands in her way. Not that rocks are that terrible, as the one that created them, I can say they are misjudged" He tells her. Once again his answer does not seem satisfactory to the ocean nymph and her anger only grows wilder.
"You are no help at all, but rather a bastard as usual" She mutters, but he did hear her. Then she walks over to the bed where Isolde sits, and she helps her stand up. She will simply have to go elsewhere for help. Ahmeya is stopped by Terra who stands in their way of reaching the door. "A bastard I may be, but I do suggest you let her lead the way and see what she wants. It might be a vital role of her becoming Queen" He tells her and then steps aside. It is not usually him that would step aside, but he has seen that he has to.
She rolls her eyes and shakes her head. Leaving with her friend without saying another word. As soon as she has walked out of the room, and is in the hallway, she does heed his words. Letting go of Isolde's wrists, she watches as her friend has taken to walk off somewhere. In the direction that she had been going before. Terra will not know that she listened, despite him knowing. He smirks in his bedroom. "Long live the Queen" He whispers to himself with that smirk.
Isolde doesn't see anything in the world. Does not care about anything in the world. The voice is so loud that it is all that she can see and all that she can hear. It is the world. The voice continues to communicate with her in that language that is equally as unknown and beautiful to her. She does not understand it, but perhaps she does not need to. All reason has been put aside for the voice is what she can feel. It guides her, shows her the way and shows her that for the time being reason is not what she needed.
The girl does not notice that her friend is there. All that she does is listen at the voice. Whether it is trying to tell her things, she has no clue. The beauty of it is one of the factors that pull her towards it. Her body walks the hallways. Not seeing anything that is around her. The ocean moves around her in soft motion, but that is lost to her now. Good or bad, Isolde does not know what the voice wants. It guides her through all, but it cannot be bad for then it would be leading her towards her own death, if a force of good then it will lead to greatness.
The voice is loud but low to her, the only sound that she can hear and yet low enough for her to not make out the words that are spoken. And even if she were to hear the words, she does not know the language and neither would be able to connect to it. The voice leads her down hallways until she reaches a staircase. A dark staircase that appears to not have been used for years, decades even. When one had believed that the castle was at the bottom of the ocean, one can always go lower.
Going down the staircase and walking one step at a time, Isolde follows the voice. It's becoming much more audible the closer that she gets. Whatever is down there is the thing that pulls her there. It's trying to drag her there, for better or worse, it wants her. Unknown to her, she is not going down there alone for Ahmeya is on her heels. Not only to protect her friend from any harm but to see what is happening. The ocean nymph has lived in the ocean for a long time, but never seen this staircase.
Normally the ocean does not have staircases for mostly all beings are able to swim place to place. However, this is a staircase, and it was designed for those that do no swim. A being that is in the form of a human and rarely does use her ability to swim. As if this staircase had been created for Isolde and for her alone. Not one else could go there. Even Ahmeya could tell that the place did not want her, that would not stop her, however.
The future Queen of the ocean is quick on her feet. Despite the darkness which her eyes cannot see in, she does not seem to be stopping. Her body is no longer hers and yet at the same time it is. Her walk is confident and the lower that she goes it only grows. Where it will lead her is anyone's guess. But, it is not until they have been walking for a couple of minutes that Ahmeya has started to worry that they are going to their own deaths. Nothing can be this far down into the ocean.
If they do not stop soon then they will reach The Underworld. A place that creatures like them do not belong in. She tries to reason with her friend, calling her name and trying to stop her from going further. Isolde does not notice neither cares at this moment. Then they reach the bottom of whatever they were walking down. The long and endless staircase has come to an end, and they are somewhere in the dark. Ahmeya being the only one that can see, notices that they re in a large crystallized cave. An ice cave. Being so far down, it should be cold.
And yet, the further down that one goes the hotter it becomes for down below The Underworld is and there the fires are the ones that rule instead of water and the ocean. However, how far they are to that horrid place, she doesn't know. Seeing her friend continue on with her walking. Not even faced with the darkness nor the danger of slipping on ice, hitting her head that could end her life. For someone like Isolde, death is not far behind, and it will take her away from the world if given the opportunity.
The voice now speaks words to her, and she listens for them. "My Queen, come to me. Release me from this prison of ice and bring me life once more" The voice speaks. Her hearty speeds up by hearing that voice. It comes from a deep sound so close to her. "My Queen, let me serve you and be yours" The voice says again. The male depth in the voice continues to pull her towards another cave. The cave opening scattered with ice crystals. In there the light begins to show itself to her and no longer is the girl in darkness.
Sight is what is gifted to her as she sees within the cave that large crystals are everywhere. In every direction and they are as sharp as a sword or even sharper. Blood they will shed if touched. The girl is being led by the voice and the voice is careful to guide her. Where she won't touch them and harm herself. The ocean is still around her, barely even moving. The frozen water in the crystals reflect light from a place that she cannot see, but there are every color of the rainbow itself when it lights her way in a way like nothing before.
The beauty inside this one cave is beyond her knowledge and even when being led through it, the girl can see and does admire the beauty that is being bestowed upon her. Walking towards the end of the cave where the voice has stopped leading her. Isolde is released from the enchantment and the world has started to make sense to her once again. Her body is hers and her mind is hers. She's all alone in that icy cave, or that is what she thinks. Hidden from sight is Ahmeya and watches the girl with confusion but interest as well.
The future Queen stands in front of a large ice wall that is as thick and intimating as ever. Taking a step back to see the bigger image, she notices that this ice wall is much more than a simple frozen ocean. But, it is a prison of some sort. Deep within the ice, barely visible, is a creature. Trapped in there and trapped within the ice itself. The creature she cannot know what is, but the pull towards that creature becomes stronger. No longer can be voice be heard, but the voice had come from the soul that is locked in the ice, trapped there for all eternity.
Gulping, Isolde stares at it for a second. The heart within her can feel that pull towards the creature, as if they know one another and still they have never met. The voice had been familiar to her, and if they have met, she could not recall from where. Her emerald green eyes stare with wonder at the creature. The shape of it is distorted. How tall, wide, scary the creature is, Isolde does not know. The connection that they share is one that she cannot understand, but it is one that is true and real.
Taking a deep breathing, she takes a step towards the ice wall. "I suppose you must have done terrible things to end here, I cannot imagine that he would let his subject be frozen if not for a reason" She speaks. Perhaps to the creature or perhaps to no one. The future Queen can almost feel that it can hear her. And while it does not speak to her anymore, she knows and feels that it has to be listening to her. The creature must have that ability.
"Never have I been one to judge. If my parents had the ability, they would have thrown me into ice as well. To cleanse me I suppose. Believe it or not, but I was not the child they wanted. And it is only recently that I was told that I was not my father's daughter by blood. Forever I shall remain as his daughter yet never as his blood related daughter" She speaks with sadness laced in her voice. That truth did pain her deeply, that she is not her father's child but someone else's child.
She has chosen to not follow through with that and think only of how she is his daughter, and she is the daughter of the King that is the best one that she knows on land. "I suppose it is not as much as being stuck in there. We all have problems. One can argue that we cannot live without them. I will be the one to argue that we cannot live without them. It does make life a bit better and much more enjoyable even" She speaks. Knowing now that the creature is listening to her, she can feel it within her.
Going over to the ice wall, she puts her hand out to touch the cold ice. When she had expected to feel the cold touch her and bring shock to her, it does not. Instead, as soon as her fingers touch the cold touch of the ice itself, it begins to glow. A subtle glow at first that grows with each second that passed by the world. The glow growing white and intensely. So bright that even Isolde has to close her eyes to protect herself from the bright white light that is so beaming with pure energy.
Her hand does not move away from the wall and neither does she have the idea to do so. The girl is not being forced to hold her hand there, instead she willingly wants to have her hand there. There are feelings within her chest that she can feel. The pull towards the creature that is in that ice is stronger and growing. The pull wanting her to do this, but she does as well. Isolde knows not what she is doing but does not want this to stop and neither does she plan on doing that either way.
From her palm the ice begins to break. The break traveling upwards where it becomes bigger. The cracks traveling all around the ice wall. When fear should be taking her, it does not. Isolde stands there with a smile on her face, the smile of wonder and beauty. Closing her eyes, she allows the ice to break apart. The large pieces falling around her. Not once do they touch her, not a single shard is able to find her body to harm her. Whether the ocean or something else protects her from the ice shards that float everywhere, she does not know.
A movement in front of her is what makes her open her eyes to look and the smile brightens. The light slowly begins to fade away, but her eyes had already seen the very creature that once was trapped in that ice. She can see it, and it makes her eye it with this magnificent look on her face. One that not that many have seen, one might be able to argue that no one has ever seen that look on her face. "Beautiful" She whispers to herself once her eyes have seen it, and the creature has seen her.
The ocean nymph not far away from her had seen it all. Her eyes widened, and her jaw open for she cannot even believe what she saw with her own eyes. The things that happened have never happened before. It is clear to even her now that the power of the true Queen is strong, and it will continue to grow. Now that she has set free a creature that was never meant to be, her power will only grow. Through the shock, the ocean nymph is able to smile at her friend for the strong Queen that she has become.
