Living in Testimony
Did you know that you have the ability to walk in communion with Jesus every day? You can know how it feels to live a life that is "pure and spotless." I didn't always think this way, I oftentimes chose comfort over Christ and that affected how I represented Jesus to people I encountered daily.
The problem was that I had allowed my witness to rest on the fact that I'm a Christian. Our witness shouldn't be centered around wearing Christian tee-shirts, having Jesus bumper stickers or even the simple knowledge that we call ourselves Christians. Our witness is based on diffusing the knowledge of God like a fragrance through everything we say and do.
After I started living out this truth and realized my identity in Christ, my focus completely shifted. I was no longer focused on feelings. Instead, my attention gravitated towards Christ.
I recently attended a Power and Love Conference. If you don't know what Power and Love is, it is a school for believers intended to equip them with resources to go out and represent Jesus everywhere they go. Learning what it meant to truly deny myself and follow Jesus at this conference was a life changing experience for me. My heart was ignited by the fire of the Holy Spirit and I left the conference a completely different person. After attending the conference, I came to realize these four things:
• God can use you anytime, anywhere, and in any given circumstance
• Belief is a game-changer
• God is still living and active
• Thinking too much is one of the church's biggest barriers
In Romans 8, we're reassured of our identity as sons of God and heirs of Christ (Romans 8:14, 17). Then we're reminded that all of creation groans for the sons of God to be revealed (Romans 8:21-22). This means that everyone is waiting for the power of God to be revealed to them through us. Wherever you go, whether it's the movies, the grocery store, or even at church, people are groaning and they need you to walk in communion with the Father so that they can be witnesses to the truth too. I encourage you to step out in faith wherever you go because the Spirit of God wants to use you to be a vessel for His power to be manifested through you.
Once you start believing all of the things God promised in the Bible, it will change your life. Jesus tells us in John 14:14 that He will do anything that we ask in His name. So when you go out and lay hands on the sick and share the Gospel with people out in your everyday life, come expecting that God is going to move. Once I started believing instead of doubting, I started seeing people get healed and delivered every single day! Faith is knowing that God is going to do what He sent you out to do, there's no room for doubt when faith steps in.
God is still doing the miraculous. He is still healing and delivering people today just as Jesus did in the Bible. This week, I've seen people come back to Jesus, people being healed, and I've seen Jesus working in people's hearts in a way I've never seen before. It has been an amazing experience, and I know God will continue to work through us if we allow Him to.
Thinking too much will always hold you back from doing what God is asking you to do. We naturally try to figure everything out on our own, we think about what may or may not happen and by the time we muster up enough courage to go do something, the opportunity isn't there anymore. I used to be so guilty of this. 'What if they don't get healed? What if they yell at me or get angry? What if nothing happens at all? What if they make fun of me or think I'm weird?' I'm sure everyone can relate to this type of thinking from one time or another. Jesus is doing more than what the eyes can see, so if you don't see healing right away, it doesn't mean that it'll never come. Jesus will honor your obedience. You can't fail because whether someone is receptive to Gospel or healed of their pain or not, you were still able to sow a seed into someone's heart and that's what truly matters.
I remember a few days ago the Lord put it on my heart just to tell this specific guy that He loves him so much. I was uncomfortable at first because this guy seems like an angry person and I naturally expected him to lash out at me. So I just stepped out in obedience and told him that Jesus loves him. Then he started cussing at me saying he didn't believe in all of that. I wasn't offended but my heart broke for him because he's hurting and Jesus wants to remove that pain. A few minutes later he walked up to me asked me why I told him that Jesus loves him. He had a much softer tone in his voice. I could see Jesus doing something in his heart right before me. We had a nice conversation and while he didn't give his life to Jesus, he still opened up to me and I believe that was an act of God's love in itself.
I want to encourage you to step out boldly in faith, being led by the Holy Spirit, despite how intimidating it can get. You can be the David that takes out the Goliath with a stone and encourages the trembling army to stand up and fight in battle. By your obedience, other Christians will be encouraged to step out into faith and reach a deeper level of God that they've never experienced before.
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
Matthew 28:19
