Chapter 2: The Elemental Shards

As the heroes fell into the first realm, Chara and Purge began the same journey: the Quest for the Soul Crystal.

Frisk's POV

We fell through the hole and found ourselves in a castle. Outside the window, the only source of light was the moonlight. I looked at Armon, then at Sans. I clutched the knife in my hand, sweat dripping down my face. I let out a loud battle cry and felt something pulse in the dagger as I charged.

"Mistress, wait!" Armon yelled. I froze. "Your magic is stronger here." I looked at the single-edged dagger and saw a jagged, glowing red blade extending from the old, metal blade. But it vanished immediately. I sighed and looked at the Djinn.

"First of all, call me Frisk," I replied. "NOT Mistress. Second of all, what magic? And lastly, where the heck are we?"

"Very well. Your magic might come from, or be connected to, your DETERMINATION. Like how Mana allows my magic to work. At least, that is my theory. And this is the Night Temple. It contains the magic and stories of all one thousand and one Arabian Nights. Or rather, gateways to the Arabian Nights. We came here for the Elemental Shards," he explained. "These Shards are part of a legendary crystal filled with an immense forgotten power." This piqued my interest.

"Tell me more. What kind of power?"

"The Elemental and Gaia Shards combined with the Core Gem can give one the strength of a god. Purge is after these Shards. If he obtains all seven, then the world is lost."

"If that's how it is, I'll need a new knife."

"Hey, kid," Sans interrupted. "I don't mean to be rude, but why're you so mad at me?"

"Well, let's see. Maybe because you tried to kill me when I FINALLY showed you some mercy!" I shot back. The Skeleton crossed his arms.

"It's what you would have deserved, you dirty little brother killer."

"We have a lot of work to do," I heard Armon sigh.

Asgore's POV

I looked around to see a town. And next to me was the flower that was once my son.

"We should find Chara," the flower suggested. "But just know that should we see Sans, I'll kill him. And don't think you're off the list either, Asgore!" Flowey growled. I frowned.

"Son, please understand. I cannot change you back, but I can help you remember who you really are: my son and heir to the throne."

"Gah! Why are you being such a sap? Fine. Guess I have to trust you to survive."

"We should find some water." We looked around and saw a man in a turban. "Howdy! I am King Asgore of the Underground."

"And I'm Flowey! Flowey the Flower!"

"Greetings. I am Ali Baba."

"Wait. Ali Baba? As in the one whose slave outwitted the Forty Thieves?"

"Former slave. Now my daughter-in-law."

"Yes. I have heard of her wits. And the treasures of the Forty Thieves."

"Yes. But they have returned for some mysterious reason. I have a plan, but we will need the Genie of the Lamp. Follow me." Ali led us to a cave entrance that was sealed off.

"I recognize this place," I whispered.

"Open Sesame." At Ali Baba's words, the rock moved, revealing mountains of treasure and a single carpet. He gave us the carpet. "This will take you to the capital. You will need to talk to Aladdin about the Genie of the Lamp." I nodded.

"This must be the Flying Carpet," Flowey muttered.

"It is. Good luck to both of you, King Asgore and Flowey the Flower," Ali Baba replied with a kind smile. The red carpet unfurled and hovered for me to get on. Flowey climbed into a vase, and we took off for the capital and Aladdin.

Frisk's POV

"So, what do you want from me?!" I yelled.

"I want a RESET!" the Skeleton yelled back. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I want to see Snowdin again!" Sans' blue eye pulsed as its power started to fluctuate. "I WANT MY BROTHER BACK!" A massive blast was shot at me from his eye. I rolled out of the way, but it destroyed a pillar. And another was shot. But Armon blocked it.

"Sans, calm down. You and Frisk are needed to save this world and yours. Right now, vengeance will be our deaths. So you need to work together."

"Fine," I sighed. "Whatever."

"I'll still have an eye-socket on you, kid." Sans' Magic Eye deactivated. "But it looks like we'll have to work together. Which Shard is first, Armon?"

"First is the Earth Stone. Its power is said to be able to move the entire earth, drawing its power from Gaia herself. Its location is known only by Aladdin. Refer to this passage." A book in my bag glowed, and when I opened it, I saw the pages flip to the story. Apparently, Aladdin met the Genie of the Lamp and... wait.

"Is this story like The Monkey's Paw?" I asked.

"Not exactly. Either way, the Genie of the Lamp is free now, having granted the three wishes of one thousand people. But there are some who have abused that power with dire consequences. I am afraid these wishes will someday go out of control."

"That's good and all, but where's the Earth Stone?" I urged, getting impatient, borderline irritated.

"Oh. The Genie of the Lamp knows its location. We should be close to the capital where he is. Let's go."

We walked to a portal.

"Oh! There's something I forgot to do." Armon put a hand on the knife, and it extended and curved so it looked like a real knife. "Now you can open the portals." I nodded and fit the knife into a switch, pulling down. Next to it appeared a portal. We walked into the portal and appeared in an Arabian city. We were in a marketplace, many vendors offering deals to people. And behind us was a majestic palace. Must belong to the Sultan, I thought.

"This place is beautiful!" I gasped.

"Yes. A common grounds for thieves. The others will arrive soon," Armon explained.

"So, what now, kid?" Sans asked. I tossed him some ketchup I had snagged from Grillby's during my 'walk' through Snowdin Town. He started drinking it.

"We fuel up, then we go to the palace. Something tells me that's where we'll find Aladdin." I pointed to the giant palace a ways from the marketplace before paying for two loaves of bread. I offered a piece to Armon.

"What are you doing?"

"Genies also need to eat, right?"

"Not exactly. We do not need food for nutrition. We are spirits."

"Oh." I took a bite of the piece and felt the fresh taste melt in my mouth. The first non-magic food I had eaten in two weeks. I swallowed and saw a magic carpet above us. "Hm? Who's that?" Then, I saw a bearded Boss Monster and flower.

"Oh. They have arrived."
------------------------------------------------------
Asgore's POV

We landed at the palace, and I jumped off the carpet with Flowey's boot in my grip. It rolled up for us, so I put it over my red trident on my back. We saw a giant palace near us.

"I think that is Aladdin's palace." I walked to the doors and knocked. Almost immediately, the door opened, and we entered a spacious corridor. Soon, we found the throne room and walked to two guards. They raised their swords.

"State your business here," one of them ordered.

"I am Asgore Dreemurr, and this is my son Asriel."

"We wanna meet with the sultan."

"Very well." The guard entered the room, returning a minute later.

"You may come in."

"Thank you for your kindness," I said, bowing before entering the huge throne room. We saw Aladdin and Princess Badroulbadour on two thrones.

"Hello. I have been expecting you," Aladdin greeted us.

"Then you know about our need to find the Genie of the Lamp, your highness."

"There is no need for formalities." He smiled then took out a golden oil lamp. "The Genie is free, but he is still my friend." He rubbed the lamp, and smoke emerged as a genie was summoned. But his cuffs weren't on his wrists, meaning that he really was free.

"Ah, Aladdin. So, I was correct. The King and Soulless Bloomer have arrived."

"Really? Is that what I'm called?" Flowey groaned.

"Maybe? But once the Angel of Death and the Skeleton arrive, I have a task."

We heard a knock, and a human and Sans entered with a Djinn. The Djinn had a white sphere in his chest.

"Well then, about that task."
------------------------------------------------------
Frisk's POV

"There are many types of wishes I granted for the thousand people who summoned me. Some were selfless, others selfish, some were just plain ridiculous. But the bad wishes made for corrupt reasons, those have the potential to destroy. My task is to find and defeat the manifestations of these wishes: the Scorpion of Rage, the Hawk of Despair, and the Lion of Hatred. But be warned. Each negative emotion affects the others. And strengthens it. Sometimes."

"Be careful," Badroulbadour clarified.

"Once that task is complete, the Earth Stone will be yours," Aladdin finished. We nodded and walked out.
------------------------------------------------------
Chara's POV

I walked towards the temple and saw a book on a silver pedestal.

"There it is." Purge pointed to it. "The Wishmaker Tome. It was sealed away by my ancestors, but with your help, Chara, I... WE will take the Soul Crystal and reunite it!" As I lifted the book, the blue carpet under us rose, and I fell on my butt.

"Sweet. New ride." I felt the magic within the stitches.

"Yes. Everything is falling into place. But we are only assembling one half of the outside of the puzzle. And I have a plan to finish the inside..."
