"We have to talk."

I straighten myself from my position on the couch and look up to see Emma staring at me.

Right. I knew she was going to bring it up soon.

"What about?" I ask and pat the space beside me and she sits.

"About yesterday. Mostly what you said" she pauses then adds. "And did."

"Look, I knew you were going to bring this up, sooner or later, so yes, it's true. I really like you."

She just keeps staring at me and then says. "Okay" and stands up.

"Hold on. Where are you going?" I ask her.

"Back to my room" she says simply.

"But.. we're not done talking" I cry incredulously.

She rubs her temples and sits down. "Look Jace, I'm confused. First you kiss me, then say you like me. So, after that what happens?"

"H-happens? Are you asking me to ask you out?" My eyes bulge.

"I'm asking you to think. So you like me and I like you. What do you think?" And with that she leaves me alone to my thoughts.

Ohhhh shit. This is really bad. I wasn't planning on asking her out. I wasn't planning on doing anything yet. But she said-- Wait! She said she likes me.

I immediately got up and ran to my room. "Hey Lo, she said she-- Oh."

What I walked into was not a pretty sight. Logan had Mia pinned against the wall and they we're in the middle of a heated make out session.

"You know what? I'll come back later" I say quickly and rush out.

I don't even think they noticed me, I thought as I went back to the living room.

I'm sure everyone was now going to be in an awkward tension and luckily we were going home tomorrow.

I saw Mia scramble towards her room and soon after, my best friend.

"I see that you've worked your magic" I chuckled.

He just grinned, plopped down beside me and collected the remote, scrolling through the channels.

"Dude, come on. Details" I groan. That's Logan. Always wanting to be begged.

He sighed and started talking. "I kissed her."

"Yeah, I noticed."

"And she kissed me back."

"Yeah, I noticed."

"I like her."

"Yeah, I noticed."

"I think she likes me back."

"Yeah, I noticed."

"You're an ass."

"Yeah, I no-- Hey!"

He chuckled, then proceeded to explain it all to me.

"You lied?" I raise an eyebrow.

"All for a good cause" he grinned.

"So let me get this straight. You told her you needed help with your "niece" who needed girl advice, cornered her, and kissed her?"

"Yep" he said popping the p.

"Idiot" I mutter, shaking my head.

"You love me" he grinned.

He eventually settled on a football game that was showing.

"What do you think I should do?" I asked absentmindedly.

"Uh.. do?"

"About Emma. She told me to ask her out" I said and his eyes bulged. "Not exactly" I added.

"What did she say then?" He asks and takes a sip of a Coke.

"She asked me about what I wanted to do. Plus, she likes me" I say, my voice flat.

"Then why do you sound like your grandmother just died?"

"Because dude. I don't know. I'm no dating expert. The one serious relationship I ever had ended up badly."

"Logan. Emma is not Kira. And stop talking to that girl. I get a bad vibe from her" he shuddered dramatically.

I just rolled my eyes and ignored him. Logan always hated Kira, even before she broke my heart.

We watched TV until 6 o'clock and never saw a sign of the girls.

"Aren't the girls coming out today?" Logan asked.

"Apart from Mia coming out to kiss you?" I smirk.

"And Emma to not?" He smirked too.

"Let's go eavesdrop on them" he snickers.

I give him a look. "No way, dude" I deadpan.

"Oh come on. Please" he begged in an annoying voice.

"No."

"Please."

"Nah."

"Come on."

"Nooo."

"Pretty please with a black cherry on top."

"Black cherry?"

"For your black heart."

Whack!

"Hey! What was that for?!"

"From my black heart" I smirked.

I eventually gave in and we were now standing outside their door eavesdropping.

Logan put his hand to his lips and moved his ear closer to the door.

"Emily! Calm down!" I heard Emma say.

Emily? Maybe she's on the phone.

"Oh. My. God. The two of you. This is soooo romantic" I heard Emily giggle.

"Now I know how it felt" Mia groaned.

"Okay guys. What's next?" Emily asked.

"Next? I'm hungry" I heard Mia say.

A few moments later, the door opened and the both of us fell through.

I immediately regained my composure and jumped up to take in my surroundings.

Mia was standing by the door, her mouth agape, Emma was lying on the bed with Mia's computer in front of her, Emily on the screen, her eyes wide, staring at us, about to burst out in laughter.

"Alright I'll call you back. Bye" Emily said hurriedly and the screen of the laptop went black.

"Hey guys. Didn't see ya there" Logan chuckled nervously.

"Emma's eyes narrowed at us. "What were you boys doing there?" She asked slowly.

"Were you" Mia gasped dramatically, "eavesdropping?"

I stepped forward, a guilty look plastered on my face. "I'm sorry guys. I just wanted you to know" I point at Logan, "it was his idea. He dragged me here."

Logan's face is a mix of disbelief, guilt and plain confusion. "I.. I.. It wasn't me!" He cried.

"Sure it wasn't" Mia rolled her eyes.

"Also, he doesn't have a niece" I stage whisper and Mia's face turns red. "Oops. Better run L."

He backs away slowly, then turns around and runs away like a mad man.

"You crazy bastard! I knew it! That's why you didn't call Emma you crazy idiot!" She yelled and ran after him.

I chuckled, shaking my head but stopped when I noticed Mia staring at me. She saw I caught her staring and dropped her gaze.

I walked to the bed and sat beside her. "You think she's gonna catch him?"

"No" she laughed. "Emma eats a lot and although Logan eats more, he's on the football team."

"Quarterback actually" I add and she laughs.

"It's Kira" I blurt. Her head snaps up and her brown eyes stare at me.

"What happened to Kira?" She asked, although not genuinely concerned.

"I know you don't like her and you might just have more of a reason to hate her when you find out what she did" I say, tracing patterns on her bed.

"Why? What did she do?" She asked curiously.

"She broke my heart" I say lowly.

"You never listen Jace. I'm tired of everything. You put everything before me" Kira said, pacing around my room.

"But.. I put you first all the time! The time I was asked to come for practice and you were sick, I left my team for you!"

"It doesn't matter now Jace. We're over" she said dryly.

"You.. you can't leave me. We've been together for two years. I love you Kira" I blurt.

"I'm sorry. I can't" she says and leaves my room.

"I didn't come out of my room that week. I was broken, shattered actually" I gave a humorless laugh.

"So how come you're still friends with her?" She asks me.

"I don't know. I don't know. She has always been close to me and our relationship didn't change anything."

"It didn't? It's obvious you didn't love her" she blurted then her eyes widened. "Oh my God! Did I say that out loud?"

I laugh and nod. "It's alright. I'm beginning to think that too."

"Aww. I never knew you had a heart, not to talk of it being broken" she teases me.

"Yeah. I know" I shake my head. Nobody could've guessed.

"You never seem to amaze me, Jace Williams" she smiles.

"Yeah, I know" I chuckle. "I never seem to amaze myself either."

We just sit in silence, staring at each other until her laptop rings.

"Emily? What?" Emma groans when her sister's face pops up.

"I don't know, just checking" she grins. "Sup Jace."

"Hey, little rascal. Why did you call back?" I ask already knowing the answer.

"To check on you kids. Did I miss anything?" She asks.

"You crazy bitch! Help! Jace! Emma! Help!" I hear Logan yell.

I roll my eyes and stand up. "Wait! Take me" Emily yells from the screen.

Emma carry's the laptop towards the front of the house. When we get there, my mouth drops.

"Oh my God" Emily laughs. I'm just speechless and Emma doesn't seem surprised.

Logan is pinned under Mia and his legs are folded back completely.

"If this is what you do in the open, I don't even want to think about what you do in secret" Emily laughs.

We all turn to her and she chuckles nervously. "Alright guys. Bye" the screen turns black.

We all stare at each other in silence until Logan groans. "I'm in pain."

"If anybody forgets anything, the elves are gonna come get 'em" Logan yells.

I roll my eyes and stick my last bag in the trunk. "Shut up Lo" Jace smacks his best friend's head.

"I'm just saying" Logan chuckles.

"Whatever "sayer". Let's go" I say and Mia snickers.

We all get into our separate cars and I stick my head out of the window. "Don't get naughty you two" I wink at Mia in the other car.

"Same to you" she smiles sweetly then Logan drives off.

"Get your head in the window, woman!" Jace yells.

"So dramatic" I roll my eyes and sit down.

He backs out of the garage and drives off and I can see Logan's car in the distance as we drive.

I start checking the radio channels and I hear a One Direction song and leave it. I'm not a big fan of One Direction but I love this particular song.

Jace groans beside me. "One Direction? Really?"

"I like this song" I shrug and he snorts.

"Yeah. I'm not sure if they're all talking about the same girl. If it's the same girl, then they're all stealing her" he says.

"Shut up" I mumble. Please don't make me hate this song.

"So why the heck are they singing about everyone wanting to steal their girl. Even themselves" he adds.

I put off the radio and bring out my phone. "Fine then."

I plug in my earphones and put on Kingdom And Lords. I might as well build my kingdom.

"Hey. Emma. Psst. Over here" Jace tries to get my attention but I just increase the volume of my songs.

After calling me for a minute, I rip out my earphones. "What?!"

"We've stopped" he said.

I looked around. We were at the side of the road and Logan's car was parked in front of ours.

"Why?" I ask and come down. Logan seems to be checking his car.

"Logan said there's a sound coming from his car and he wants to find out" he explained and opened his trunk.

He carried a toolbox from the trunk and opened the engine of Logan's car.

After checking everything for five minutes he declared the car problem free.

Logan went to turn on the engine and it was still making me the noise.

Mia rolls her eyes and checks the engine again. She tinkers around and tells Logan to turn on the engine again and when he does, the noise is gone.

"How did you do that?" Logan asks wide eyed.

"My dad" she shrugs. "Let's go people."

Hey guys, this chapter is longer than usual because I'm taking a break from Steal My Heart to work on my other book. By the time I've written at least 10 chapters, I'll be back and I've currently written 4.

I hope you guys can bear with me. I'm also thinking of changing the name of this book so please if you have any ideas, comment here.
