04 The Classroom

The fire alarm had set off and the cafeteria was being rained in. It was harder for students to circumvent as they were incapable to run freely. Cheong-San pulled On-Jo onto a table and I-Sak followed suit. They began to get cornered while a few more students climbed up the table. "The window!" One of the students shouted before being devoured by a zombie. Cheong-San muttered a thank you and rushed to the window, sliding it open. He pushed On-Jo out first and turned back to kick off a few zombies. I-sak climbed out next with the help of On-Jo.

"Cheong-San hurry up!" The said boy soon came out and the three whisked back inside the school, avoiding as many as zombies possible. Reaching the second floor, they were yet again cornered. Zombies appeared from either side and On-Jo hurried to grab a fire extinguisher and sprayed it to blind the infected. "Come on!"

Su-Hyeok and Nam-ra were at the front of the school still running, hand-in-hand. They unexpectedly stopped, watching a group of student zombies attacking their gardener. "Stay away, stay away from me son of a bitch!" He screamed but only got more attention to himself as he was eventually consumed. Su-Hyeok was quick to take the gardeners' ladder and moved it closer to their classroom window.

On-Jo and Cheong-san were slammed against the classroom door watching the familiar faces of their friends inside. "Don't open it! Don't open it!" Screamed Na-Yeon, but the others could not care less and unlocked the door. As the two fell inside, another male student rushes behind them, with some kind of white shade all over his face. "Open it Joon-Yeong!" He yelled as the boy looked perplexed at him. "What happened to your face?!" Gyeong-su asked. "I don't know, some crazy jerk sprayed me with a fire extinguisher" On-Jo looked up at that, feeling sorry for her actions.

"Brother-in-law!" Dae-Su dramatically called out, taking Wu-Jin in a hug. Dae-Su is a simp for Wu-Jin's older sister, Hari, and proclaimed himself as his brother-in-law. "Stop calling me that! You idiot" Suddenly a pair of hands were seen in the open window, making the group of teenagers scream. "Wait! Its Bare-Su! Bare-su get in!" Gyeong-su yells and pulls the boy in. "Nam-ra? Hurry up!" Soon enough, the classroom held more than ten students. Su-Hyeok lay on the floor gasping for air. "It's that right? Zombies"

"You obtained Ph.D. in cell biology in the US, returned to Korea. You were a pharmaceutical researcher and quit, then teaching. You should be a college professor with this résumé. Not some lousy high school teacher" Jae-Ik enquires, eyeing the oddly calm man in front of him. Both males were inside a questioning room, sitting across a table while Byeong Chan was cuffed to it. "The hospital needs to put Hyeon-Ju in quarantine, nothing less" Byeong Chan repeats, but Jae-Ik does not shift in the slightest and resumes his questions.

"Why would a teacher decide to chain a student?" Byeong Chan is still unmoving as he stared at the detective with blank eyes. "If I were a college professor... I was a prosecutor or a reporter, would you have listened?" Jae-Ik nods in amusement, clamping his palms together. "Ah, that's why you did it. Because no one listened to you or understood how you felt? You were lonely, maybe saddened. Is that it?" Jae-Ik feels the rising anger in himself as Byeong Chan lets out a grunt. "Fine. Let's do nothing. Everyone will die. This world and all those damned imbeciles"

That was the last straw for Jae-Ik as he slams his hand on the metal table. "I hate you assholes. You're a sick kind. You commit the crime, but you blame others, society, everything" Byeong Chan looks at the detective with bored eyes, yet they screamed his anger, at the loss of his son. No one could deny his resentment. It was pure hatred towards the world, the place where everything goes wrong.

"When you reported your son missing, you said, 'The world swallowed my son' What the hell's that supposed to mean? What, is the world an anaconda?"

"It didn't swallow him. Tell me what happened to him. You killed your son. But you reported him missing to avoid being a suspect. Am I right? Your son isn't missing, is he? What happened to him, huh?" The furious detective questions further and Byeong Chan finally looks up. Locking his eyes with Jae-Ik's he states. "Jin-su is dead"

Back at Hyosan High, the students were busy searching for mobile phones. According to the school rules, every student had to turn in their phones in the morning and only the clever ones would manage to keep it to themselves. "Did you get one?" Wu-Jin asks as he scoured through someone's bag. "Nope"

"Hey, Joon-Yeong! I think you're right. They can't open doors. Uh... Let's hold it shut for now" Cheong-san states as the boy with glasses moved away from the door. There weren't any more zombies in front of their class only two or three that collided against each other. Joon-Yeong was only a step away when the door slammed open and the group chorused another round of screams. "It's me you dipshits"

"Y/n!" Dae-su yelled, taking the girl in a born crushing hug. "Thanks, bud" On-Jo's eyes visibly lit up, but she held back the urge to hug the girl. "Are you all okay? Not bitten eh?" Y/n asks with a cheerful smile and the teens nodded in a steady rhythm. "Noice, now why don't you call the police?" She says before taking out a slick device; her phone. "Thank God you're here!" I-sak exclaimed, passing the phone to Cheong-San.

"Are-are you okay?" Wu-Jin slowly asks, moving next to y/n. The shorter girl chuckles awkwardly and nodded. "Of course I'm fine, this blood is from some zombies" Wu-Jin sighs, giving the girl a side glare. "I can see that you're not lying to me, but something is sus here" Y/n laughs again, this time with more volume than before. "You're just paranoid Wu, I'm just exhausted"

"Hello? This is Hyosan High School. A ton of zombies showed up at lunch, and they're eating people" Cheong-San spoke into the phone, on a call with the police. "Don't say, zombies! They won't believe you" On-Jo whispered in a scolding voice. "Did you happen to see the movie Train to Busan?" Cheong-San asks again and Y/n rolls her eyes at the boy's stupidity. "This isn't a joke. Everyone... Anyway, come quick" The call ended right after and y/n spoke up quickly. "They won't come"

"What do you mean?!" Na-Yeon asks with obvious fear as the shooter leaned against a desk. "Remember what you said about Hyeon-Ju? That she was biting and all savage? Ain't she similar to these zombies? They took her to the hospital and it's spread there too" Na-Yeon drops to the floor with wide eyes, crying as she did so. "Humans are reckless not to listen... They won't listen to Mr.Lee Byeong Chan. Hyosan's in trouble" The whole class tenses up worry raging inside their young hearts as they recall their family and other friends.

"I think you should be a little positive" Hyo-Ryung spoke up slowly, clinging onto Jimin, who stay unfazed but her eyes were teary. "I'm not saying your loved ones are de- infected, they are less likely to be safe, not knowing anything about zombies or maybe too kind to kill humans" Y/n stated, trying her best to sound nice, though she knew the truth of words are limited to zero.

On-Jo suddenly steps up and grabs Y/n's phone and dials the call center. "Hi. Hello, sir. Do you know Captain Nam So-ju from Rescue Team One?... Captain Nam So-ju is my father. Please tell him to hurry over to my school" On-Jo speaks to someone as Gyeong-su turns to Cheong-San. "Who's she talking to?" The other boy shrugs, guessing fire station. "There's a fire. Hyosan High School, classrooms 2-5. Hurry up. The fire is massive" Lies On-Jo and y/n quirks up at that. The other girl cuts off the call and turns to the group. "That was brilliant" Praises Y/n. "Th-thanks"

"Let's call the cops again, tell them to listen" Na-Yeon frantically orders On-Jo but the helpless girl could not do anything. "I am, but they won't pick up" Na-Yeon groans and y/n could feel the girl could already be a pain in the ass. She wondered if Na-Yeon is just slow or an idiot to read any situation. "Yah! Shooter girl, call your parents aren't they in the police too?"

"The local police can't pick up a call and you think a special force can?" The girl doesn't seem to back up yet and finally turns to the silent class president. "Hey. Do something. Tell Miss Park to come and help! Do something!" Y/n was minutes away from throwing the girl out of the window but refrained when Nam-ra spoke up. "Do what exactly?" Na-Yeon whines again, stomping her feet on the wooden floor. "I don't know! Anything! What have you done as class president anyway?!"

Nam-rs scoffs silently and y/n could help but imagine the girl would look hot when she's angered. "Stop it" Nam-ra sternly asserts before getting up from the chair, and staring at the spoiled girl with dull eyes. "Teacher's office? So you just want me to leave now?" Nam-ra's voice was unmistakably threatening and the group sensed the atmosphere changing between the two. "Well, if you're offering" Na-Yeon's insensitive words boiled a carton of lava in Y/n's head but no one could read it off her blank face. "You told me to do something. Do you want me to leave?" Pushes Nam-ra as Na-Yeon narrowly backs away.

"Stop it you two. She's only saying that because you're the class president" I-Sak says as she glanced at the two girls. "Now that we are in this mess, I'm your class president?"

"We called the police, so I'm sure we'll be fine soon" Intervenes Dae-Su but gets ignored as the girls continue to dig holes in each other's heads. "But no one's coming!" Whines Na-Yeon and Y/n straighten up but gets held back when Wu-Jin tugs her hand, indicating not to get involved. It's no joke when y/n is angry and Wu-Jin was the first witness to her actions. While she only had a black eye, the other kids had broken ribs. Judging Na-Yeon's physique, Wu-Jin knew the girl would have more than a broken rib.

"Ladies ladies, can you just stop the whining?" Gyeong-su su speaks up with his hands in the air, attempting to calm the students down. "Oh, now you're speaking up shithead?" Gyeong-su looks stunned before anger courses through him. "What did you call me? a shithead?" Y/n took notice of how much her straws are being pulled today and this was her hundredth. Yanking her hand from Wu-Jin, the girl stomps over to the whining girl and pushes her to the wall. "At least he Intervenes at the appropriate time and what did you do? Whine and whine and whine you can't even read the room you spoiled pink-sweater brat!"

"Not you" Adds y/n giving Hyo-Ryung a nod as she was also wearing a pink one. "Okay stop it N/n!" Wu-Jin exclaims as he hugs the girl from behind holding her in a tight position. Though y/n could escape with a headlock, she didn't want to hurt the other boy. Before the conflict could go on, the classroom door burst open and someone scrambles inside.
