9l Ghost with amnesia
“You will?!” He exclaimed, looking ecstatic.
“Yes,” I growled. “Now out!” I pointed towards the door.
“Ok.” He backed away, putting his hands in surrender. Before leaving the bathroom, he turned his head and winked. “By the way, you’ve got a stunning body.”
My eyes widened at his statement. I grabbed my shampoo bottle and threw it at him, but he passed through the door in time and the bottle hit the door with a thud. I heard him laughing outside.
A**hole.
I wrapped the towel over my body and stepped out of the shower. I glanced at the mirror and saw my face was red.
F**k! Why does he have so much effect on me?!
I changed into my black sleeveless top with grey sweatpants and went to my room to see Finlay grinning at me.
“Pervert,” I muttered, drying my hair.
“You can’t blame a guy for praising a beauty.” He gave me a toothy grin.
I bit the inside of my cheek to stop the smile that was threatening to come. “You’re a cheeky ghost, you know that.” I fake glared.
He shrugged his shoulders with a smile. “Now... what?”
“I’ve seen in movies that when people are murdered or when they die but have some unfinished business, they turn into a ghost and roam on earth but you..." I pointed at him. “Are not dead... Yet.” He narrowed his eyes but I ignored him and continued. “Now I have to figure a way to put you back into your body.”
“How-“
“For that, I’ve got to do some research, which will not be easy.” He nodded his head. “It’s going to take some time, so how about you do..." I waved my hands. “Whatever a ghost does till I come up with something.” I plastered a smile on my face.
He narrowed his eyes at me. “I’m not going anywhere, because I don’t have anyone-“
“Go to your girlfriend.” I rolled my eyes. “I’m sure she’ll see you too.”
“I have a girlfriend?” I gawked at him.
“The blondie... The girl at the club you were with...” I tried to jog his memories.
“I don’t know.” He shrugged.
“What?”
“I told you before, I remember nothing.”
My jaw dropped as I stared at him in disbelief. “And you expect me to help a ghost with amnesia?!” I screamed.
“It’s not my fault.” He mumbled.
“What’s the last thing you remember?” I folded my arms and watched him as he scratched his head.
“I saw my body on the ground-“
“You don’t remember your family? Friends?...”
“Naw.” Groaning, I went to my laptop and opened Google. “What are you doing?”
“Googling you,” I answered and type his name in the search bar. “The only thing I know about you is your name, and in order to help you, I have to know more about you.”
“That’s a great idea!” He beamed. “I want to know about me, too.”
I rolled my eyes and search on the screen but nothing related to Finlay came up except the accident news. I frowned and searched Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, but nothing came.
“What the...”
“What?”
“You don’t have any accounts on social media.” I scowled. “In what century do you live, dude?” I gave him a once-over.
“I don’t know... It’s the twenty-first I think I heard someone-“
“Finlay.” I cut him off in a bored tone.
“Aye?” He blinked his puppy eyes.
“Shut up.” He mimicked, zipping his lips and throwing the key. I scoffed at his childish behavior and turned towards the screen again, then sighed. “I can’t find anything here. I’m sure Paige must have gotten some information about you.”
“She’s scary.” I lifted my eyebrows at him. “I saw her with you at the hospital.”
“Right,” I muttered and picked up my phone. I dialed the number that my uncle send me, but it went straight to the mail. She didn't pick up when I tried again. “I think she blocked me,” I mumbled, leaning back in my seat.
“What are we going to do now?”
“I don’t have her address, so we have to wait for tomorrow.” I sighed and closed my eyes, thinking of a way to get information about him. “Your girlfriend!” I screamed abruptly.
“What?”
“Come on Finlay, use your brain and think of her name or something.”
I watched him as he paced the room. He ran his hands through his hair and gripped them tightly, then sighed. “I can’t.”
“It’s alright.” I gave him an assuring smile, feeling pity for his condition.
“I’m sorry.” He murmured.
“She was at the club with you. I’m sure someone must have seen her there.” My mind went to Michael. “I know the bartender there and we could ask him.”
“What are we waiting for? Let’s go.” He moved towards the door and I laughed, making him pause. “What?”
“I know you’re eager to get back in your body.” I gestured towards the clock. “But clubs don’t open at nine in the morning.”
“Oh...” He sheepishly smile as his ears turned red. I blinked my eyes as I stare at him.
Damn... he’s so cute!
Clearing my throat, I got up from my chair and picked up my laptop. I sat with crossed legs on my bed and placed the laptop on my lap.
“Since we have a lot of time.” I glanced at Finlay as he stood at the edge of the bed. “Let’s search about souls.”

“... Spirits are not tied to one place. It’s believed that spirits are discarnate entities, meaning that they’re the soul that has survived when a person dies and no longer has a physical body to live in. Often it’s just a genuine, emotional tie to a loved one, such as wanting a family member to know that a deceased relative is okay...” I eyed Finlay, who was leaning over me to look at the screen. “... I seriously want to know why am I the only one who can see you.”
I studied his side face as he read the article. His ocean eyes curiously move on the screen. His brown locks fell over his forehead and chiseled jawline.
For a ghost, he sure is hot.
“Maybe because we met before?” He suggested, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“We talked for like... five minutes, Fin.” I rolled my eyes.
“Fin?” He grinned. “We are on a nickname basis?” I opened my mouth, but he continued. “What should I call you? Am? Amy? Phoe-“
“Amber.” I gritted. “You are going to call me Amber, and let’s concentrate on this.” I pointed at the screen.
“Meanie.” He murmured. Ignoring it, I read the article, and he listened to me.
“You don’t have the physical appearance, but you have different energy around you... That gives ghosts or souls the ability to move things...” I spun my head and grinned. “Let’s test your powers.”
“Powers?” I put my laptop down and jumped from my bed.
“You know in horror movies how spirit movies things by just waving their hands.” I emptied my penholder on the table and put it on the ground. “Now move this.”
He scrunched his face. “But those are movies.”
“So? Just concentrate your energy on this...” I gestured towards the penholder on the ground. “I’m sure you’ll be able to move it.”
“This makes naw sense.” He said deadpan.
“You...” I waved my hands up and down his figure. “... Make no sense. Now do this and we’ll see.”
I watched as he narrowed his eyes at the holder and tried to move it. After failed attempts, he got more challenging and did weird hand gestures like throwing imaginary balls at it and pulling it with ropes. Shaking my head at him, I continued searching on the laptop and let him do his things.
