――
The person whom entered the cafe earlier went to the display case, peering whatever the shop had to offer. They bobbed once they'd settled their decision, moving onto the menu to see what they'd have as beverage.
While they were still trying to make a decision, Chaerin was at the counter, examining the person and tried to not be so obvious. It's considered an impolite action to eye a customer all the time―in her dictionary at least. But her curiosity got the best of her. She was still debating with herself whether to assume they were a man or woman. The layers of clothing made it hard for her to jump into conclusion. From a snap judgement, the person was a he, but there's still another possibility that they were a she, with muscular body.
As the person eyed the menu of beverage section, Chaerin waited patiently as the cinnamon scent wavered in the atmosphere, beating the petrichor. Yoongi was at the staff room, taking a nap, letting Chaerin to look after the cafe.
Normally, Chaerin would maybe ask some questions for formality, but she was so lost in her own world due to the perfect-for-sleep weather and thinking too much about the mysterious person's identity.
"Hello? Excuse me..." The person spoke, causing Chaerin to snap out from her daze. She shook her head and scratched her head.
"A―ah, yes?" She asked awkwardly, pouring so much efforts to make a forced smile on her face.
The person in black furrowed. "Are you okay? I tried to call you several times already, but you seemed so lost. Are you perhaps sick? You should rest, just saying," they advised as Chaerin shook her head.
"No, I'm fine. Sorry to make you wait and thank you for your concerns. May I take your orders?" Chaerin smiled, now felt more relaxed. She tidied her apron so it'd look more presentable.
The person made their orders and Chaerin nodded once she got everything on her list. She began getting whatever the customer wanted while the person waited for her, seeing the clock once in a while.
While waiting, their eyes wandered around the cafe, enjoying the pleasant scent he got to breath in. The temperature was way warmer than outside. After fighting with the rain, they were overjoyed to feel the calming atmosphere.
After getting the orders, Chaerin went to the cashier and tapped the screen, making the bill. While she was doing that, the person's eyes were landed on her nametag.
Kwon Chaerin, they read each syllables mentally, tone going low as they reached the end.
A smiled crept on their face upon seeing her name. "Now, now, this was very unexpected, Chaerin." The cashier girl flinched at the mention of her name, eyes widen.
The person pulled off his mask and hat, revealing a familiar face under it. A face that Chaerin would definitely recognize, or at least what he thought.
"It's been a long time, Chaerin!" He exclaimed cheerfully while doing a salute pose innocently.
Her mouth hung open, pointing at the person before her in disbelief, trying to find words that fit the situation. "Oh my! You're a he my guess was right!" Chaerin cheered, celebrating her so called victory inside of her head, holding a carnaval while dancing along following the rhythm.
The man who was at first excited now had his smile dropped in disappointment―completely speechless. He thought Chaerin would at least remember him. After all, they used to be good friends back then.
"C―Chaerin, don't you remember me?" He pointed at himself and Chaerin stopped doing her inner celebration. She's now even more perplexed than before.
"Uhm, no? Because we just met a few moments ago?" She questioned and tilted her head, scrutinizing the person from head to toe, trying to figure what he said. Somewhere inside of her head, there was a tingling sensation when the person asked the question. It felt like a part of her memory had been triggered.
The man could only facepalm himself while Chaerin was still pondering. There's something she knew, she just couldn't point it out.
"Ah wait! Are you perhaps Park Jimin?!" Chaerin exclaimed gleefully, snapping her fingers after her successful attempt on remembering.
He grinned. "Yes, Chaerinie." She also smiled when she heard that nickname; a name that Jimin used to call her with.
"It's been a very long time, Jiminie." She grinned brightly at him. The boy had his cheeks flushed in light red, his heartbeat rapidly increased. The moment that nickname slurred from her mouth, was also the moment when she rekindle the old flame in his body. It was as if years of forgetting became nothing. Just a word from her mouth was enough to bring back the old pain in his chest.
"Out of all people, why it has to be you, Chaerin?"
