Banana trilogy

Sonnet.

Ode to the Banana

Although it's curved shape may not reveal,

Its phallic form is in fact a berry.

As you crave its sweetness, begin to peel

Stripping from swollen ripeness. Be wary!

For plantains are for cooking mainly,

Deep fried, baked or steamed in rice

Whilst wrapped in leaves, whose blade is plainly

An organic dish, licked clean in a thrice.

We know to slip upon its crafty skin

Has been for generations a comic skit

So be so kind and throw it to the bin,

Least the steadfast street sweeper has a fit.

Forget not the republics Chiquita has made

And dear consumer; please buy fair trade.

Limerick

There once was a girl from Havana,

Who was just crazy about eating bananas.

She ignored all the warnings,

That she might have some soiling,

So in the end she dirtied her pyjamas!

Haiku

Stripping the skin,

it slides off the naked flesh.

Banana!
