~ Chapter 7 ~
"Hey so, what's up with you and Liam?" Jerry asked. He must have noticed.
"I'd rather not talk about it."
"Okay." He nodded, "Don't worry, Liam's a nice guy."
"Yeah," I murmured. I completely disagreed but I didn't want to get into any deep conversations about Liam.
"So..."
"Why'd you want to hang out?" I asked. I couldn't stop myself.
"I don't know. You seem nice."
"Thanks." I smiled, "you're really nice too."
"I'm glad you think so..."
Jerry and I hung out until lunch was over. Talking to Jerry almost made me forget about Liam and all my problems.
---
After school, I walked home and found my foster parents sitting on the couch.
My foster dad said, "You're home finally. Come here."
"Am I in trouble?" I asked, my palms sweating.
"Not for doing anything wrong."
What's that supposed to mean?
"Harmony," my foster mom said, "your parents want to see you."
I almost choked on air, "My actual parents?"
My foster dad nodded, "You are going to the court tomorrow to see them."
"I haven't seen them in five years!"
"We know, Harmony."
"And tomorrow's Saturday-"
"Yes, we know. Now go do your homework and we'll talk about this later."
I focused on my homework, trying to block out any other thoughts my brain had besides grammar.
I didn't sleep at all that night.
