Chapter #4

Kamden heard the gunshot and saw Mrs.Marten fall to the ground, he grabbed onto Addison and pulled her down under neath him. Gunshots rang out all around and he heard numerous yells in pain. All he could do was protect Addison- or at least die trying. As a few minutes past with no gunshot he heard her ragged breath under him and he realized she probably couldn't breathe with him on top of her. He rolled off and looked around Before announcing it clear and standing up, he looked at Addison who's usually tan glowing skin was a ghost white with blotches of blood on her face and jacket.
"Are you alright?" He asked

She nodded but couldn't take her eyes off of Mrs.Marten, she walked over and checked her pulse,"She's gone."

"I figured she would be, they shot to kill." As he looked down the road he saw numerous of his team members laying on the road unmoving.

" I need a medic!" He yelled into his radio.

He ran over to Lisa first and pulled her back around to face him. The bullet wound was in her stomach but it didn't look like it went straight through her back which meant it was still in... Her eyes were open but unfocused.

"Lisa, can you hear me?" She moved her hand on top of his and he squeezed it. " I need a medic!" He yelled again.

Addison jogged over to where he sat with Lisa,"everyone else is unhurt."

She looked at Lisa's wound and cringed. "You need to try and stop the bleeding." She said as she pulled off her jacket.

He nodded and took his off also. As the tried to stop the bleeding they heard sirens in the distance coming closer.

"Lisa." Addison whispered," Can you hear me?"

Lisa's eyes slowly closed,"No Lisa stay with me! Stay with me!" He yelled at his partner.

"Let me be." She whispered before her eyes closed all the way.

As the ambulance arrived and the medics got to work Kamden turned to face Addison, she was staring at something in the distance beyond the hills and valleys.

"Did you see where the gunshots came from?" He asked.

She turned to face him,"What do you think is beyond the hills?"

"I'm not really sure, but do you know where the gunshots came from?"

"Behind us. It came straight between our heads, it whizzed past my side and stroked my arm a bit."

He looked at her arm which only had a scratch, probably from wearing the big leather jacket.

"I think they were aiming for us." She said.

"Me."

"What makes you think that?" She asked as she turned towards the hills again.

"Those people knew Mrs.Marten found the box, they knew and know I'm working the case and I never let a case go unsolved."

"And they also know that I'm Joys mother and that I will stop at nothing, to find her." She challenged.

"Glad to know we're on the same team."

"I'm going to sit at the hospital and wait for news on Lisa."

"Good idea, we'll take the search from here." He said.

"Oh- this doesn't mean I'm off on the search. It simply means I'm checking on my friend and coming back."

He sighed and looked at her, determined. The word the last two detectives had told him when he took up the case.

"The mother-Addison- is a very determined and challenging mother. She's been on the case the whole time and refuses to let us do it Our way." Both of the detectives had said. He had laughed but now he knows what they were talking about.

He smirked,"Check on Lisa and give what a hug for me!"

Chapter four in less then 24 hours... I think that's a new record? Sorry guys I seriously have no life at all so I Just spend my whole day on WP
