Meredith's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone stared at Eric.
"What was that boy?" Jayce asked as he sat up in his seat.
"Did I say something wrong?" Eric replied asking a question of his own.
"Yes, you did!" Franklin told him. "How could you say that about your mother?"
I gulped, I was going to have to explain what had happened to Eric. As if on cue, Joanna turned towards me and asked, "What happened to Eric? Did something happen when we were gone?"
I rose up slowly and cleared my throat, hesitant to answer, "When you, Henry and my mom left to get more food we were visited by them,".
"Them?" Henry interrupted.
"The......aliens," I continued. "The alien came alone and wanted Eric for some reason. We tried to fight it but eventually it got a hold of him. I don't know what they did to him, but ever since our little encounter, Eric has been acting different,". Almost as if someone or something else was inside of him, I added inside my head.
Franklin and Jayce jumped up, terrified expressions plastered on their colorless faces. "You knew all this and yet you didn't tell us?!" Jayce yelled. I shrugged in response. Franklin spoke into a headpiece and almost immediately after that the room was filled with several men holding weapons.
"What's happening?!" Ileana screamed as she ran towards me terrified.
"Why is all this security here?" I asked.
"My dear girl, as much as we'd hate to separate siblings we have to. Eric may be controlled by an extraterrestrial now and we must lock him away," an elderly man said as he walked through the door. The security began to then place hand-cuffs on Eric's hands and began to lead him out.
"Who are you?" I asked furiously.
"Forgive me, it seems I've forgotten to introduce myself. The name's Jeremy Oz. And you are?" he asked.
"Not letting you take Eric away," I replied as I ran towards Eric. As I reached for his hand I felt a rough tug on my hand. "Let go!" I yelled. As I turned around, to my surprise I saw Liesal. She was surprisingly strong for her age. "What the heck?! Why'd you pull me back?!" I shouted at her.
She leaned near my ear and whispered, "Trust me, just play along," before pushing me back. "Don't you see that Eric is a serious issue?! He could be an alien!! He'll be fine, they were right to lock up the 7-year old,".
I gritted my teeth and was about to yell at her for being so dumb but then I remembered what she had whispered, 'play along'. "Your right," I managed to say.
Jeremy's face lit up hearing this, "Excellent! Now that we have things in order how about some warm food?! I know that you are hungry!"
"What about Eric?" I asked.
"Don't worry, he'll be properly fed," Franklin assured.
I nodded as we headed towards to the dining room. Halfway through Liesal asked, "Hey can we get those knives back?"
"As long as you don't harm us with those," Jayce replied.
"Dibs on the biggest knife!" Joey exclaimed as he ran back to the room we were previously in. Liesal motioned me to follow them.
As we entered the room, I skimmed through the knives until I finally found the one I had before, and slid it into my boot. "So Meredith?" Liesal asked. "Do you want to free Eric ?"
"What?" I asked as I turned around, surprised.
"Do you want to free Eric ?"
"What do mean?" I asked. "Right now?"
Liesal laughed, "When else?" A smile slowly appeared on my face. "So I'm taking that as a yes?" she asked.
"Of course!" I exclaimed. "But how are we going to get him out?"
Liesal turned her head towards Joey, "Well we do have a robber who could probably break into a lock,".
Joey turned around, his hands were filled with all the knives. "Not a chance I'm going to help you," he said.
"Why not?" I asked.
He dropped all the knives on the table and laughed, "Why not? Well let's see, first I was beaten up by the 'Men in Grey', Next I was held captive by you. And now I'm here instead of where I should be, with Carrie and Pierce. And now your asking me why I won't help?"
"Please," I begged. "I can't believe I'm saying this but, you are the only one that can help us right now!"
Joey leaned again the table, "Fine, I'll help. But only if I get something in return,".
"What?" I asked.
He smiled slyly, "Money. I want money," he said as he leaned back I into the table.
"What?!" I asked shocked.
"Money," he repeated. "I will help free your brother but first you have to pay the price. In this case, about $10 000,". He crossed his legs and examined his fingernails as he waited for my answer. $10 000? Was he crazy? Where would I get so much money?
"Well?" Joey asked. "What's it going to be?"
"Where am I supposed to get so much money?" I inquired.
He shrugged, "Not my problem,".
Liesal stepped forward and asked, "When do you want it by?"
Hearing this I was surprised. Did she have any money? I looked over to Joey to see that he too was surprised. "Wait, what?" he asked stunned.
"When do want the money by?" Liesal repeated.
Joey stood up and cleared his throat, "Tomorrow, same time, same room,".
Liesal nodded sternly and walked out of the room. I walked with her and asked, "Are you insane?!"
She shook her head, "No, why would I be?"
"Because you just made a deal you can't keep!" I yelled at her.
"Oh? And what makes you think that?" she asked.
"Well let's see," I began. "Last time I checked, we don't have money! Let alone $10 000!"
"Maybe we do," Liesal replied as she quickened her pace. "All we have to do is borrow some from these people. I'm sure they keep some money around here somewhere,".
"What?!" I shouted. "You are planning on stealing money?!"
She stopped walking abruptly and turned around. "No, we are not going to steal a penny. All we have to do is find the key to the place where they keep the cash and give it to the robber. He can take his own money,".
"And how exactly are we going to find the key?" I asked.
"At dinner tonight," she replied. "I am going to slip the question about the money into the conversation and we will have our answer!"
I laughed, "What makes you think they'll just tell you?"
She smiled, "Well I've at least got to try,".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was quite late for dinner but we were all hungry. We all sat together at one large table that held many different dishes. In the middle lay the most glorious sight of all, a turkey. A stuffed turkey to be more specific, and around it lay fruits and vegetables. On the side lay a big bowl filled with thick gravy. On the other side of the turkey lay another bowl filled with mashed potatoes. I wonder how Eric's doing. Hopefully he is okay.
"Alright, how about we start eating eh?" Jeremy asked. We all nodded and turned our plates over. First I carved a large slice of turkey and then poured some thick gravy on it. Everyone was caught up in different conversations, even Joey. I looked to my left and saw that Liesal was deep in conversation with her father and Frank.
"So, how many rooms are there in this place?" Liesal asked.
"Well, there are about 35-40 rooms actually. 10 of the rooms are guest bedrooms such as the one's you are staying in. We have cellars where we hold prisoners. We have 3 main offices, one for me, for Jeremy and for Jayce. We have 2 common areas where you can sit down and relax. 1 kitchen and one large diner big enough for everyone in the operation. This is the private diner, that is why it isn't as big,". Frank explained. "Let's see, what else do we have? Oh yes! We have a weapons department of course, and uniforms department. We have a working area, and the rest of the rooms are just minor things like break rooms or washrooms,".
"Really? There are a lot of rooms!" Liesal exclaimed.
"So are those all the rooms?"I asked joining into the conversation.
"Yes, I think I've covered all of them," Frank replied as he placed his hand on his chin to think. "Oh, there is one other room actually,".
"There is?"I asked. "What is it?"
Frank looked at me, "Why are you two suddenly interested in rooms?" he asked.
Liesal chuckled and shrugged, "Well there is nothing else to do but roam the halls. We thought we might explore this place a little, that's all,".
Frank raised an eyebrow, he didn't seem too convinced, "Well, this last room contains our safe. This is where all the money is kept. The key to the safe is also hidden somewhere in the room. We don't really need money now anyway so we don't go there too often. It is in the lowest floor of Base Liberty. But I warn you, do not go there! The room is a trap. Nobody's been in there for years!".
"What exactly do you mean by, 'trap'?" Liesal inquired. I elbowed her, Frank was getting too suspicious.
"Who cares Liesal, we aren't going to visit that room anyway, right?" I asked.
She nodded, "Correct,".
Finally, after two hours we all sat back, stomachs full of food.
"Dinner is over, you may return to your rooms," Jayce announced as he stood up.
As we walked towards our shared room I pulled Liesal over and whispered, "2 am,". She nodded, and set the clock alarm to 2. I rested my head on the soft pillow, we're coming for you little man.

Frank's POV
"So Jayce, did anything seem a little off at dinner?" I asked him as we walked back to our rooms.
"What exactly do you mean Frank?" he asked, confused.
"You know those two girls, Liesal and Meredith?" he nodded. "I think that they may be up to something. They were asking me about the safe," I told him. "Did they ever ask you anything related to that?"
Jayce shook his head, "No, but if you're so suspicious why don't we look at the security cameras? Maybe they said something when they were alone,".
I nodded, "Good idea,".
We went back to the footage from the room we first talked to them in. As we skimmed through it we finally found the footage of Liesal, Meredith and Joey alone in the room.
'Do you want to free Eric?' Liesal asked.
Jayce laughed and paused the video, "Well Frank, I guess you were right. These kids are up to something, in this case they are trying to break into our cellars. What should we do?"
I smiled, "We wait for them to break in, then we sound the alarms. It will teach them a lesson, never steal a prisoner,".
