God's Word

Adriel POV

"Locked up, they won't let me out.." Sigh, I should have told him, I broke one of Heaven's most absolute laws, now I'm sitting in the cells of the pack and regretting so many things. I should have just told him but looking like I was in my early-twenties mated to an infant made me feel dirty.

Yes, I could have told him at sixteen but by that time I couldn't feel the pull anymore so I thought he was no longer my mate. Alexander just had to tell Collen I was his mate and Collen being so emotionally broken just flipped without giving me the opportunity to explain. I don't blame anyone but myself, I can admit he should have known but to tell him I was his mate but no longer feel the pull towards him would have broken his heart way worse than anyone could imagine.

Imagine falling for someone that at one point you loved and then you tell them and over time that feeling goes away and they no longer feel the same way. I didn't want him to feel that pain of love and loss. I deserve whatever punishment comes my way. I know God is probably furious with me.

"You made a real mess of things Adriel." Fack... they just had to send him. Here goes the lecture.

"You were a celestial royal guard, you know all our laws word for word now look at you. In a cell for lying to your second family and for what?" He glared at me disappointingly, that's the last look I wanted to see on his face, I never wanted him to look at me with those eyes.

I look down. "I'm sorry brother, I never meant to make a bad name for the family. I tainted the name of the Galileo house.."

"You've been summoned by God himself, may he have mercy on your soul." And just like that he left and the cell door opened and two celestial guards appeared putting me in chains and shackles leading me out and to see the looks of disappointment broke me even more and I felt the change as my body felt as if I was being injected with angel poison. I could tell my once white wings would appear black as night.

Hours later I was kneeling in front of God and I broke down crying as I felt the atmosphere was thick with disappointment, fear, and dishonor.

"Mr. Galileo, you are being charged with breaking Angel law and fraud." This won't end well I know it...

After days of waiting for them to look over the case and all that stuff, it was time for the verdict.

"Adriel Galileo, the court finds you guilty on all charges and sentence you to live your life as a mortal in the mortal world." I nod and everything went black.

Two weeks later

"Sir?" I felt someone shake me and I groaned as the sun was shining brightly in my face.

"Ahm." Someone cleared their throat and looked at the man before me.

"Um, yes?" I asked him, confused.

"Sir are you ok? You're in the middle of a field and you look like hell." Well screw you asshole, I have no idea who I am or what I'm doing here.

"Do you know me?" I asked him cutting him off because his rambling was annoying as shit.

He picked up a wallet and he looked at me. "Very funny, what kind of sick prank is this?"

He threw the wallet at me and I looked at it and it was mine. What the hell is going on? I started to follow him "Mr..." I began

"Lateen" He huffed out getting in his car.

"Mr. Lateen, I assure you this isn't a prank. I have no idea where that wallet came from or how I got here, I don't even know who I am."

"I'll take you to where records are held, maybe you can find your house that way." He did just that and took me to the town hall and I found my house luckily and sighed. Getting the keys from the realtor company and after stopping at a grocery store, I found my way home.

Opening the door seems strange but familiar in a way, the feel of the home seems like somewhere I have been but not here. I put the groceries away and look around the house, trying to see if I recognize anything but it's not working. I go to the living room and see no photos that look familiar or any of the paintings on the wall, nothing looks familiar. Just what the hell happened to my memory?

I look out the window and see nothing but trees for miles. I look around and see a door that leads to the outside and went to open it, revealing a huge open back yard with a path to the opening of the woods. I walk down the path and look around and see markings on the biggest tree at the opening and walk over to it, seeing a couple of markings, that's it, just that in the middle of the tree. Shrugging, I walk back to the house and make dinner for myself and go take a shower, going to bed after the long day I had.

The next morning I went job hunting and came across a construction company and saw they were looking for help so I looked at my outfit and thought I looked good enough for this place because it looked classy.

"Hello, welcome to O'Brian architectural company. How may I help you, sir?" A young woman greeted me when I walked up to the long high counter.

"Hello ma'am, I saw the looking for help sign and was looking to get an application?" I replied and she looked up at me and gave me a piece of paper.

"We do applications online so here is the website information you need. You can sit down in the room next to the coffee room and use one of the computers there. Once you are finished, I will let Mr. O'Brian know and go from there." She said and smiled.

"Thank you." She nodded and I went to the room with a lot of laptops and desktops and sat at one and went to the website and started filling out an application.

I was sitting, waiting for the boss to come to get me for the interview, apparently, he is not the type to have others do his job for him which is nice.

"Mr. Galileo?" I heard my name and looked at the tall man who wore a serious look and professionally addressed me.

"That's me, hello Mr. O'Brian, it's nice to meet you." I said and shook his extended hand and he nodded.

"You as well. I usually don't do this but seeing as it's past lunch and I have been busy all morning, I'm hungry, would you mind if we turned this interview into a lunch interview? It's on me, you don't need to worry." He asked and I didn't know what to think so I just smiled and nodded, thinking of what this lunch could turn into for me.

"I'd like that, thank you."

"It's no problem. Bailey? Hold my calls and push back the next meeting till two, I'm going out for lunch." He said to the woman at the desk.

"Yes, sir."

"Ok, let's go. Did you walk or drive here?" He asked as we walked outside.

"I walked, I only live a few blocks away and thought to walk since it's a beautiful day." I said and he looked over at me.

"Then you passed some of my work. See all these buildings? At one time they were in need of a rebuild or complete removal of the building so I got together with all the business owners and we came up with one flat price, that each could afford, they made it easy and were able to get their businesses to where they are now without being in a lot of debt. I don't like robbing people out of their life savings because I know what it takes to make your hard work pay off. I used to be based in L.A. but moved my company here about six months ago and it was a wise choice. It's not the big city I'm used to but I have a lot of business in the cities around here and in town to keep me busy." He explained and I looked around and on each side of the buildings we passed, I saw the same markings that are in the tree. Hmm, maybe he used to hang out in those woods or someone who works for him.

"May I ask what brought you back if you were based in L.A.?"

"Well, I missed my family. I was away for a long time, after a bit of being in their lives as before I left to go do a year-long job and when I came home, I realized how much I missed my family and decided to move home. What made you move here? From your background check, I ran on you, you are far from home. You didn't like Maine anymore?"

"I don't know, I don't remember my past. I woke up in a field and had no memory of what happened to me." I answered honestly since he decided to be honest with me.

"Hmmm that's strange but then again, stranger things have happened to me and my family. Here we are, I hope you like seafood. I've been wanting to try this place out since they opened weeks ago but with my schedule and home life, I haven't had the chance so your interview being now, makes it the perfect opportunity to eat here." He said and we walked into the restaurant.

"Table for two please." He said and the woman looked at us and winked.

"Not together, table for two, please. God, why do women always assume two men are together when they go into places? This happened to a friend of mine and me a few times while on a business trip. I swear it's like women have never seen men eat together before." He ranted and I couldn't help but laugh slightly.

"Find that funny do ya?" He chuckled and I nodded.

"I do because you're right. Men do it too, not just women."

"You're right. So I normally would ask you to tell me about yourself but seeing you can't remember, why did you apply for a job at my company? Do you know how to do construction work?" He asked after we were seated at a table near a window.

"I'm not sure but I can learn. I just need a chance to start over, not being able to remember my life, I don't know if I have a job already, if I have a family out there looking for me so I need a job, to at least get enough money to hire help in looking into my past to find out where I come from. If I have a wife and kids, I don't want them to be worrying about me longer than they already are or parents who have reported me missing. I need to know."

"Well, no offense but you don't have the hands of someone who has worked with them, not saying you didn't work but you look too clean to work in this line of work but I will give you a chance. You can start tomorrow, come in at six and I will introduce you to one of my foremen and you can go to the construction site and shadow him as he shows you what to do. Here," he gets his wallet out and hands me a card. "this is a company credit card, I let all new employees use it. Go shopping for tools, a hard hat, safety glasses, clothing, and footwear. Don't worry about the price on anything, I want my employees to have the best because your safety is the most important thing to me. Make sure you save the receipts and hand them and the card to me in the morning. I need the receipts for company records for taxes. If you need anything else, grab it. Don't worry about what it is. I can honestly care less if you shop for food or whatever, it's covered. Also, gas up your car as you will use it until you are hired full time and will be given a company truck like the others. Any questions?" He asked after basically handing me an endless amount of money like it was nothing to him.

"No, but I, thank you. I will do my best and prove I can be of value to you and your company. I appreciate this, very much." I said and he smiled softly at me.

"It's not a problem. See the thing is, this town, these people are all like family and we look out for family and your part of that now so don't worry about it and if you need anything at any time, just let me know. Oh also, when we get back I will give you a phone, you can use it as a personal one but you need to have my numbers and the numbers of the people who work for me but that you work for, your boss's. You can always come to me but I'm not always free to talk so if you can't wait, call me and leave a message if I don't answer and I'll return the call. Is there anything else you need or want?" Wow, this man is unbelievable, just met me and is trusting me with his money.

"I have none at the moment. Thank you for giving me a chance and trusting me, it means a lot to me."

"No problem, now how about we order and head back? I have a meeting in a couple of hours I need to finish getting prepared for."

"Sure, sounds good."

We ordered and ate, he told me about his family and some history of the town, told me about good places to eat or explore when I have free time.

We made it back to his company and he gave me a brand new phone with a list of phone numbers and he excused himself to go to his meeting and I left, feeling better about my situation and looking forward to tomorrow.
