Chapter 1

The moon and stars flaunted their shimmers all thanks to the deep dark night sky making their presence evident.
The shimmering of the moon illuminated the sky with the assistance of the tiny twinkling stars.

Without those two heavenly bodies and the mercy of the Almighty, the sky might have been covered in total oblivion.

A smile found its way to her face as she gently placed the laptop she had been typing on down and elevated her hazel eyes to the glory in front of her.

The cool night breeze swept past her feet slowly making her raise them to her chest.
Her chin on knee with arms wrapped around her legs.

Still admiring the beauty of the sky created by the best of creators, she let out a sigh.

She turned her head to the laptop that sat next to her on the bench then back at the sky and smiled.

"MashaAllah." The light words left her mouth.

She sought solace in Allah's creations.

"It's almost 9 Layla," The voice of her brother caught her attention but she didn't turn to face him. "You should get in quick before you get a cold." He entered the glass door that led to the balcony where she sat.

He sat beside her.

"You'll get a cold too." She uttered with her gaze fixed firmly on the sky.

Haider let out a little chuckle.

"You're indeed a woman of the night," He repeated what he always said when he saw Umaymah sitting out in the balcony at night. "Layla."

Ignoring his words, Umaymah turned her face to her brother's with her eyes twinkling bright with curiosity.

"Ask away." Haider noticed the twinkle in her eyes.

He relaxed his back on the bench then started to stare at the sky as he waited for his little sister to inquire what she wanted answers to.

"How does it feel to be married?" She blurted out.

The question had been lingering in her mind ever since she saw those papers.

She accepted the marriage proposal as there was nothing else she could do.
The contract was already signed.

A warm smile sat on his lips as his mind drifted to his lovely wife, Basma.

"The feeling of being married is unexplainable Layla," the smile was still there. "It's really something beautiful indeed."

"As beautiful as the the moon sitting peacefully in the darkness of the night?" She took a glance at the sky then settled her eyes on Haider's face.

Haider was still smiling.
"Mhm, you could say that," Haider got closer to Umaymah. "But there could also be challenges."

She sighed.

"Do you think I'm making the right decision?" She questioned referring to the marriage proposal.

A small silence followed.

"What does your heart say?" Haider swung an arm over Umaymah's shoulder.

"It's complicated." She leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Ask Allah for help then." he paused.
"He is indeed the All-hearing, the one who hears what is between the heavens and the earth." They both said in unison as it was one of the lines Haider used a lot.

"Don't think too much about it," Haider kissed the top of Umaymah's enshrouded head. "Allah knows best."

A sneeze was let out following a small "Alhamdullilah."

"Okay Lady Layla,"Haider got up on his feet after replying to her sneeze. "We need to get you in before you freeze up. "He said making a light chuckle escape from Umaymah.

He held out his hand and she took it after picking up her laptop from the bench.

"You say the feeling of being married is unexplainable," she walked with her brother back into her room. "Since the feeling is unexplainable, what is marriage?"She rephrased her words.

Haider listened attentively to her question as every word left her mouth.

"Solace," He said shutting the glass door and bringing down the blinds. "Marriage is solace, but only with good communication."
