TWENTY -THREE
{no offense but all I'm looking at are his tiddies-}
"It's hot." Hoseok mumbled. The sun was more brutal than it has been for the last couple of days. It was the middle of the day and a thin layer of sweat starting to form on his forehead. All Yoongi did was roll his eyes., moving away branches as he continued to walk. Hoseok followed behind him, his clothes sticking to his skin.
"Stop complaining."
"I am not complaining. It is hot. And we're wearing black." Hoseok grumbled.
"Why did you come if you were just gonna complain? Ugh I liked it better when you shut up." Yoongi scoffed.
"Yoongi?—"
"It's Hyung to you, respect me at least or is that too much to ask for?" Yoongi snapped. Hoseok tensed as he looked at the male.
"S-sorry, I don't know who's older or not. I only know Jungkook is younger than me and Namjoon and Y/n are the same age. You all look a lot younger than I would assume you are." Hoseok cleared his throat, placing his hand behind his neck. Yoongi flinched slightly the moment he rose his hand. He stopped his tracks, his hand almost instinctively grabbed his knife and pointed to him. Hoseok immediately raised his hands up with wide eyes.
"H-Huh?"
"What do you have!?"
"N-nothing!"
"Then why did you raise your hand?! Wanna start a fight!? Kill me here?"
"What!? No! God I don't even like fighting! I only raised my hand out of habit. When I'm nervous I rub behind my neck." Hoseok hastily explained. Yoongi narrowed his eyes, almost like he was trying to see if he was lying or not. Hoseok didn't move and stood completely still. He was nervous and a bit frightened at the knife being pointed at his face. Without much words, Yoongi merely huffed and lowered his knife. He then turned his heel and continued to walk.
Hoseok lowered his hands and warily walking behind him.
Was he really that on edge?
"Hyung, are you okay?"
Yoongi didn't answer him and only continued to walk ahead of him. Hoseok sighed, rubbing behind his neck again out of habit. There shouldn't be any reason to be afraid of Yoongi, unlike Namjoon, he respected Y/n's and would not hurt him. He wouldn't even lay a scratch on him, if anything, if Hoseok really did try to hurt Yoongi, Yoongi would fight back. But that wasn't the case at all. Hoseok didn't even like fighting.
He only entered that tournament for Y/n, even then he doubted himself multiple times if it was really worth it or not. Besides, he would never hurt the people Y/n care about. In a sense, Hoseok was too much of a coward to actually raise a sword against them or anyone in general. He knows how to, doesn't mean he wants to. He likes to find ways to avoid using violence, something that's been exposed to him for many years.
Yoongi has nothing to fear.
Hoseok would never hurt him or the camp. He is not that King's son. He is nothing like him. He needs to make that clear to Yoongi.
Hoseok watched his back while they walked, trying to think of a plan to prove it. Words could only mean so much. Besides, Yoongi didn't seem like the type to listen to measly words but looks for the actions. But how?
"Hyung?"
Yoongi still didn't answer and continued to walk like he wasn't even there. Hoseok smiled to himself, if Yoongi was going to give him the silent treatment, then he would to talk all he wants.
"Hey Hyung, did you know Eri is the cutest? I mean if I was raising her like Jin is then I would brag about how she's cuter than all the kids. She's so sweet, isn't she?" Hoseok lightly nudged his arm but all he got was a glare. Hoseok felt his smile twitch almost ready to back down. Yoongi still scared him for several reasons.
"I think she's sweet. Oh! Has she ever given you a flower crown? She's really good at those. She catches onto things pretty fast. She's really smart too. Jin is raising her really well. I don't know how he does it but he makes time for her and running things in the camp. He take cares of food, sewing and even planting. He even goes once a month up the mountains to search for merchants and get supplies. Jin is really amazing. I'm guessing that's his role, huh?" Hoseok had casually placed his hands behind his head. He side glance Yoongi but Yoongi was still staring forward without a word.
"Then there's Jungkook, I don't know how the order goes, but I'm assuming Jungkook is the youngest from the merry men. He's really strong you know? He helps the camp in anyway with his strength. He also helps Jin at times too. He plants food as well. That guy had a lot of energy and a really good fighter. But, he's a better friend. He knows when your down and just swoops in to make sure your all better." Hoseok now was looking forward. Yoongi was still silent, letting him continue.
"Then there's Jimin. He could be rude for no reason but he's nice too. And loves this camp, he's willing to protect it in anyway. He has a funny way of making friends, you know? He immediately wanted to become my friend after I beat him in a fight and now he sometimes like to trail along Jungkook just to talk to me. Even though he gives me that excuse of he just wants to see how strong I've become so he can beat me next time, but I know with his teasing he actually enjoys hanging out with me." Hoseok then lowered his hands from his head.
"Then Taehyung, you know before he started to avoid me? Not because I did anything but more of I guess because of what my feelings are to a certain person. I don't know but he was nice and my only friend for a while. He's a really good archer I'll give him that." Hoseok chuckled to himself.
"Namjoon, I can't really say. He was really nice to me in the beginning but now he wants to kill me. I mean I'm sure you know why but I don't really have an opinion on him. A lot of people have been wanting to kill me since I was born, so having one more person isn't really all that bad honestly." Hoseok then smiled to himself not even realizing the glance Yoongi gave him.
"Then there's Y/n. She's really something else. She's strong, kind and gentle. She wants people to think she's this tough fighter but in reality, she's gentle. I mean don't get me wrong, she can throw you across the world in mere seconds but I know she does it because she wants to protect the people she loves. She completely changed what I thought woman should be. Did I mention how pretty she is?" Hoseok chuckled, his cheeks growing rosy.
"Yeah, she's really something."
Hoseok quickly turned his head, blinking. He wasn't expecting Yoongi to respond. Yoongi stopped his tracks to glare at him. But the glare didn't hold any fire or anything, it was just a weak glare.
"And yeah, I know she's pretty. Stop gushing about her." Yoongi grumbled. Hoseok felt a smile creep on his features slowly.
"But she's so pretty and beautiful. Sometimes I just wanna hug her and smother her in kisses."
'—Which I have'
"Disgusting, seriously. Yeah I know you like her. I also know your seeing her." Yoongi scoffed.
"What?"
Hoseok stopped in his tracks, slowly growing red. Yoongi casually turned around to blankly stare at the prince.
"Y/n has been so happy lately and gets into this daze. And you? You don't stop staring at her, seriously. And there's just hearts coming out of your eyes." Yoongi shook his head with a roll of his eyes. Hoseok sputtered on his words, feeling his face grow hotter if that was even possible.
"Look I don't care really, she's happier like this. I don't care about her relationships. You just make me uneasy but maybe I was wrong. It's not like your going to do anything, you just swoon over her. And piss off Namjoon about it." Yoongi shrugged as he started to walk. Hoseok followed him but remained silent. This was the most Yoongi had ever talked to him.
"Besides I knew you were good. Just my trust issues got in the way."
"What made you realize it?"
"At the last battle, when you were going against Namjoon. You had a literal arrow stuck in her stomach. But your first instinct was to run to Namjoon. He had a broken foot and couldn't get up, but you," He flickered his dark eyes to Hoseok.
"Ran to him with blood coming down your stomach. You only thought about others instead of yourself even in a dying moment, that's exactly what Y/n teaches." Yoongi then walked ahead of him while Hoseok gaped at his words. He then smiled to himself, catching up to him.
"Thanks Hyung."
"Whatever sh*thead."

{Few Days Later}
"In two days, it's in two days Jungkook. I think I'm gonna vomit." The prince groaned, laying his chin on his palm while Seonghwa was stitching a feather pattern onto his shirt. His other hand was out while Seonghwa did his work. He had glasses on while stitching up the sleeve.
Jungkook was standing a few feet away from him, fixing his corset.
"Jungkook that's too tight. One button loose or your gonna break it." Seonghwa warned without needing to turn his head.
"And please don't vomit Hoseok, these sleeves are white."
Hoseok threw him a sheepish smile, using his free hand to rub behind his neck. Jungkook rolled his eyes and did what he was told.
"Why do we have to wear a corset anyways? This thing is gonna restrict me from dancing."
Seonghwa sighed, pushing up his glasses. He snipped off the remaining thread with a scissors before turning his head to face Jungkook.
"It's not. If anything, it helps with your posture. Now stand straight or your gonna ruin your costume."
"How come Hyung gets to wear a harness but I have to wear a corset!" Jungkook whined, standing straight to fix the black corset.
"I've been over this, I couldn't make a corset his size in the amount of time I had. He's making do with what I have. Now, wear the feather necklace and your done." Seonghwa ordered while urging Hoseok to stand up with his hands. Hoseok stood up, chuckling a bit at Jungkook's childish whine. Seonghwa fixed his black harness before patting down the wrinkles.
"Alright all done. This should give you mobility. I say it's amazing for the short amount of time I had." Seonghwa smiled. Hoseok looked down at his costume, the shirt so low he wondered if it was meant to be like that.
"Is it really supposed to be this low?" Hoseok chuckled nervously. Seonghwa nodded, with a casual shrug.
"Yeah. What? If you really want to know, Y/n likes it when men wears v cuts. Especially when it's that low." Seonghwa said, emphasizing on 'that' before walking over to Jungkook. Hoseok blushed deeply, clearing his throat while his eyes averted elsewhere. Jungkook gave a smug grin the moment Hoseok's eyes accidentally landed on him.
"Anyways, your both done. I finished the touches so you are all free now scram. Go change, I don't need you dirtying my precious designs." Seonghwa shooed. Hoseok nodded and went behind a curtain to change.

"Y/n!"
Y/n sighed heavily before it turned into a low growl. She halted her tracks, whirling her head to face the male who called her. She glared at him, her hands into fists as if she was going to punch him at any given moment.
"What! What Namjoon?! I already told you this conversation is done!" Y/n yelled out. She felt her vein pop on her head. Namjoon was equally annoyed and returned the glare.
"No, we're not. Why do you always avoid that question?! Just answer it!"
"What question?! Your literally making no sense!" Y/n fumed. It seem like as the dance got closer, they do nothing but argue for hours. This was only adding stress to her. There was so many things that needed to be done before the month ended but with their constant arguing made things far more difficult and now Y/n was way behind schedule. The stress was only piling and bottled inside.
"You know what question!"
"Kim Namjoon I really do not have time for this. We are behind schedule. The camp needs to move more east before the Royal guards search these parts of the woods. We need to find new routes to merchants or we're putting ourselves at risk with trading the old ones. The King is more on high alert since the sighting of the prince. After Yoongi had taken him out to search the permitter, guards had spotted him. We need to move and your constant pressure about Hoseok is only making things worse!" Y/n shouted angrily. Namjoon narrowed his eyes at her with a clenched jaw.
"You did it again."
"What?"
"You called him Hoseok instead of prince."
Y/n groaned, tiredly rubbing her face with her palm.
"Seriously?! That's all you got on what I was saying!? Namjoon we are behind schedule, what are you not understanding?!"
"Well maybe if you didn't ban me after I tried killing the prince, then maybe you wouldn't have so many burdens." Namjoon snapped.
"F*ck you Kim Namjoon. I don't know what's your problem but quit it already. We've been over that. I don't know what hatred you have for him but leave it be already, if you don't see the problem in killing him, then you deserve to be banned out of the camp." Y/n gritted through her teeth.
"So how do you plan on making this kingdom better?" Namjoon asked.
"What?"
"Y/n, your naive to think you don't have to kill anyone. Your father had to kill people, guards, royals, anyone that got in his way. That's child thinking if you think you would never have to raise a sword at someone. How else would this kingdom be free if the king lives?" Namjoon raised an eyebrow at her while Y/n stood there, a bit taken back from his words.
"Not everything is about killing. And my father regretted killing those people. What right do I have to make the ultimate decision like that? A person is a person no matter good or bad."
"So how then Y/n? How would we establish peace? The people would seek to kill the king for his crimes. Meaning, they would kill him and the prince. Thinking you would never have to kill anyone is impossible."
Y/n frowned, her glare only becoming stronger the longer she stared at her childhood friend. It wasn't naive thinking, nor was it impossible. She didn't want to kill, she didn't want those lives on her hands. What right does she have taking them away? Rather she's good or bad, it's not her decision to make rather a persons life is worth it.
"You sound like the king." Y/n said, her voice growing dark. This caused Namjoon to flinch.
"It's not naive to know I'm no judge on who deserves to live or not. If you kill someone's rather for good or bad intentions, you are still a killer. How are you any different from the people who want to kill you? They want to kill you because they see you as someone not worth living. If I'm going to achieve the impossible in not killing people, then so be it." Y/n spoke with a harsh and dark tone. She turned her heel to start walking away but Namjoon's words stopped her.
"Your in love with the prince, aren't you?"
Y/n turned her head, her glare harden.
"What? What does that have to do with anything?" Y/n asked. Namjoon walked towards her, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Stop avoiding the question and answer it."
"Namjoon that doesn't have anything-"
"Answer the damn question, moonchild."
Suddenly that cute nickname she grew up with, didn't sound good. It only made her skin crawl the more she looked at him. She licked her dry lips while she kept her lips sealed. The answer should've been no, but they wouldn't leave her lips. They wouldn't come out but instead tied on her tongue. She could only glare at him while clenching her fists. Namjoon inhaled sharply through his nose, taking her silence as an answer.
"You f*cking do." Namjoon scoffed. Y/n thinned her lips, the 'no I don't' never left her mouth. Instead she felt her cheeks begin to heat up. Her glare lessening while she swallowed hard.
"God damnit I knew it. I even saw it but I didn't-" Namjoon covered his face with a heavy sigh. Y/n felt her eyebrow twitched.
"Saw?"
Namjoon removed his hand and flickered his eyes down at her.
"I saw you kiss him by the river bank a week ago. I had hoped he had forced himself upon you but damn, I was wrong."
Y/n felt her cheeks grow hotter while her eyes widen. Her body had stiffen, biting on her lip.
"Okay? Why does it matter? It's not your business."
Namjoon chuckled dryly, his glare returning.
"Oh, but it is moonchild. Did you forget?"
"Forget what?"
"Your mother's dying wish? How she said on her last breath, that we are engaged?"
⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️
"Dove? Is something the matter?"
Y/n blinked a couple of times before turning her head to face the worried prince. Night was present and like they had been for the past couple of days, Hoseok sneaked into her tent at night to lay by her. For whatever reason that helped both of them to sleep through the whole night. She was laying on her back, while Hoseok was laying on his side to face her. The tent was a bit dark but nothing that Y/n couldn't handle. She could almost see his features through the dark.
She gave a weak smile, her eyes stating otherwise.
"I'm fine Hoseok. I'm just thinking." She whispered. Hoseok's hand had wrapped it self around hers that laid on her chest.
"About the plans right? I heard from Yoongi about how stressed you been. The schedule has been a hassle so I've heard. Don't push yourself, okay dove?" His hand brought hers to his lips, brushing his lips gently against her skin. She melted, her eyes soften at gesture.
Why was he so kind?
So sweet?
So loving?
"I know. It's still a bit stressful without Namjoon, he was my right hand and helped me with everything. Now I see how reliable I've been towards him." She sighed. She moved her hand away from his and rested near her ribs. The feeling of lips still tingled against her skin.
"It's okay to rely on him. It's okay to rely on people. Running a camp isn't easy I assume, being in charge of so many lives. But that's why you have your merry men, too keep this burdens light. Doesn't mean your less independent, your still human after all my dove." Hoseok was now moving the small strands of hair away from her forehead. Y/n was just realizing how polar opposite's both Namjoon and Hoseok are. He's so gentle and comforts her, while Namjoon just adds fuel to the fire.
"Hoseok?"
The prince hummed, his eyes softening at her.
"Do you think—what do you—I-" Y/n furrowed her eyebrows. The words just stuck in her throat. Hoseok chuckled, laying his head back on the pillow.
"Hey! Don't tease!"
"Are you having that much trouble on saying it then?"
Y/n sat up, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Yes!"
Hoseok sat up as well with a chuckle, placing his hands on his lap, leaning his back on the bed frame.
"Okay okay, my bad. What is on your m—I mean—But—" Hoseok teased with another laugh leaving his lips. Y/n felt her cheeks heat up the more she glared at him. Her glare was weak which only made Hoseok laugh harder.
"Seriously, your so dumb. How are you a prince?" Y/n rolled her eyes, placing her foot on his leg, ready to shove him off the bed. Hoseok caught on quickly, taking her foot and moving it away from him. He only smiled at her with a lazy shrug.
"I don't know. I'm born royalty but I can't do anything about how I act. And don't kick me off the bed, you could seriously hurt someone like that." Hoseok clicked his tongue before laughing again. Y/n rolled her eyes, now placing her hands on his shoulder and shoving him off the bed. Hoseok yelped, his head landing flat on the floor while his feet still hang on the bed. Y/n crawled to the edge to stare at him.
"That's the point you moron." She huffed, trying to keep her eyes on his face and not on his shirt that lowered, showing a glimpse of his stomach. Hoseok sat up, rubbing the back of his head with a small hiss. Y/n scoffed, her hand reaching behind his head and softly massaging it. Her legs now hanging off the bed.
"God, men are such babies." She scoffed. Hoseok lowered his hand, a small smile on his features. He then laid his head on her thigh with a dreamy sigh. Y/n stiffen, watching him relax.
"Yeah. All men do is whine and pout. If I have to whine and pout for you to care for me, I will. I'm even willing to beg if you want." Hoseok stated. Sometimes Y/n really did wonder if he ever thinks before he speaks. His mouth always seem to move faster than his brain.
"You—brat! Set me up!" Y/n yelled and yet, her hand wasn't away from his hair. Instead now they were softly combing through his brown locks.
"Shh dove. Someone's gonna hear you. And I didn't set you up, you pushed me. I warned you that was gonna cause damage to a person." Hoseok chuckled, fluttering his eyes closed. Y/n scoffed, her hand moving down to comb the front of his hair. Her hands moved his bangs backwards, showing her his forehead he hid beneath his bangs.
"Whatever." Y/n grumbled, her fingers gently combing through his soft locks. Hoseok glanced at her, watching the way her eyes stared at his hair with troublesome eyes.
Something was still bothering her.
Hoseok moved from her, and stood up. He held his hand out while she stared at him confused.
"Come on, why don't we take a walk?"
"A walk? What for? It's late out." Y/n asked with a raised eyebrow. Hoseok chuckled quietly, taking her hand into his and gently pulled her up to stand.
"Just come on. Don't question it. Let's just forget who we are at the moment and breathe in the fact that we are simply humans."
Y/n wanted to question further but Hoseok had already started to drag her out of the tent. Nothing but the moon shined on the earth and soft winds howling in the back. Nothing but the soft snores of the people was heard into the dark. Their feet had touched the soft grass, and the breeze hitting their face.
Hoseok walked towards the river, a place they seem to always go. His hand was intertwined with hers. Warmth filled her hand the longer he held her hand. Y/n stared at him while he led her away. The wind was on her side that day and blew his bangs out of his face to show his glorious forehead. His eyes sparkling by the moon.
For whatever reason, he looked ten times more kissable that night then he's ever did before. The way her stomach fluttered like butterflies and her heart skipping a beat the longer she stared. Her face felt warm but she also felt safe. Something she didn't think she would ever feel. She's supposed to make people feel safe not the other way around.
Hoseok had stopped walking, the camp a bit far from them. The river rushing down the mountain was now was the only thing she heard besides her thumping heart. Hoseok turned his head to face her, giving her a soft smiled. His eyes held a glow she's never seen before. That moon up in the sky was causing him to glow. He hand taken her other hand, placing it on his shoulder.
"Dance with me?"
"But it's late and I have to go back and watch the camp."
"More of a reason too. Remember what I said? Let's forget just a moment that I am not a prince and you are not a leader of a camp. I am just a man madly in love with you and wants to dance, not for training but for fun." Hoseok said and pulled her closer. She couldn't deny him, not when he gave her such a strong feeling. She wasn't even sure what it was or what even caused it, but she wasn't even complaining about it.
"Alright, then just for a moment I am just a woman who's dancing with a man who's madly in love with her."
Hoseok chuckled with a nod. Y/n had kept her gaze with his brown orbs. They nearly melted into the night if it wasn't for the moon. His eyes held galaxies. She could get lost for hours and she wasn't even sure when any of this started. All her worries had melted not forgotten but disappeared for a moment. They had only swayed with the wind and stared into each other's eyes, yet Y/n felt like she was on the safest place she could be.
This man in front of her whom she hated at first merely simply the fact of who he was, had grown soft and felt safe with him. The last time she's ever felt safe was with her father and mother. But their warmth had vanished years ago and left her carrying these burdens alone.
Not even Namjoon could ever make her feel this way.
That's when the realization hit her.
Namjoon had fallen in love with her.
That engagement was something her mother begged her to go through before she passed. She only wanted her daughter to live her days in peace. But it slipped her mind and even when she was younger, she didn't deny it. She didn't see anything wrong with it because she never saw herself to fall in love with anyone, so she accepted it.
But the man in front of her, made her feel something that no words could describe. No amount of words could bring Justice to what she felt and she didn't even know what it was. But the feeling only blossomed and any worry with it just vanished into thin air. The fact was he didn't even have to say a word and yet, she felt her burdens ease off her shoulders.
He was the only one who can do that.
He's the only who can make her feel like this.
He's the only one for her.
The only one who can tame that feverish flame of vengeance.
The only one who can with one word make her feel butterflies blissfully fluttering in her stomach.
The only one who can make her melt with a wave of his hand.
When did it become like this?
Why wasn't she fighting it?
The wind blew past her cheeks while she stared at Hoseok who looked calm but flashed her a gentle smile. Her heart had started to speed up the longer she stared. They had stopped swaying, only getting lost in each other's eyes.
She knew why she wasn't fighting it.
But she was scared to admit it.
She's only ever read or heard about it.
She didn't want to be wrong.
She didn't want to be hurt.
"Hoseok?"
"What is it my dove?"
But she won't be hurt.
She shouldn't be scared.
Not when Hoseok, Jung Hoseok, a man who was madly in love with her, had only proved to be worthy of her heart.
He would never hurt her.
"Hoseok, I think—"
She looked into his eyes once more, drinking in every drop she could and store it inside her memory forever.
"—I think I love you."
