In Her Love
Hello everyone, this is a one shot fanfic. Let me warn you, it is a little mature subject, not in the sense of physical intimacy but the subject is a little dark. So, if you have issues in this type of dark stories please don't read it. This is the first time I am writing a dark subject, it is not my fort so please leave your comments, I would really appreciate. Because I am used to writing light hearted stories, so please comment.
Note: I was going to use Sultan in this story, but many people have reservations regarding his, so I decided to use the only other TV Serial Don I know, Dutta Bhao (Mishal Raheja/Shabir Ahluwalia) from Laagi Tujhse Lagan.
Hope you enjoy this.
In Her Love
You want a love that consumes you.
- Damon to Elena in The Vampire Diaries
Omkara sat leisurely in his pent house as he drank the hot coffee his wife had made for him just before she hurried to get ready for the day ahead, even though he had servants running around the house, his wife insisted on cooking for him. He was about to take the newspaper from the table when he heard the door open. He looks at the door to see his faithful manager running to him huffing - puffing. He watches him in mild interest as he wondered what could have rattled his stuck-up manager so much that he forgot his manners. "Sir... Sir..." Dandi started as he tried to catch his breath and divulge his important news at the same time. "Take your time, Dandi. It's not like I have anything else to do." Omkara says sarcastically. "Sir..." Dandi starts again and stops, not because he was short of breath but because he heard the door open. Omkara looked at the bedroom door and saw his wife walking out hurriedly and then hurrying back to the room with her towel in hand, absentmindedly smiling at Dandi and him. He watched as the door closed wondering what was up with her? She seemed preoccupied and absentminded for the last two days. He wondered what the matter was, he wanted to ask her but then they didn't have that kind of a communication. He took whatever he wanted from her while she kept giving and giving. The darkness he hated so much was slowly creeping up in his heart again. Did she decide she had enough of his cruelty? Did she decide she had enough of him? Was she contemplating on leaving him? What will he do if she leaves? As much as he hated admitting it, she was all he had and the one he loved.
"Sir..." Dandi's voice broke into his thoughts. The fear of his wife leaving suddenly gripping his heart, Omkara turned to the Dandi and coldly says "I am not paying you to keep chanting Sir Sir. If you want to say something then tell me or just get lost. One more time you say Sir, you will be looking for a new Sir." Omkara tells him all the while staring him down. No one could hold his stare except for his wife. Having lost his patience, Omkara decides to check on his wife, just to make sure she didn't leave him. Omkara mentally kicked himself for such an absurd thought; there was no way she could have got out of the bedroom without him seeing. He was about to walk to the room when Dandi again stopped him. "Sir." Omkara losing his patience was about to lash out at him when he noticed Dandi looking at his bedroom to make sure it is closed. Omkara held his tongue, as whatever Dandi wants to tell him he didn't want his wife to find out. Did it have something to do with his wife? Maybe this is the reason she seemed distant, Omkara quickly corrects himself ...no.. not distant, she never distanced herself from him except for the initial days of their marriage.. she seemed preoccupied. Today, he had to ask her for the coffee, unlike other days when she and coffee would be waiting for him in the morning. "What is it?" Omkara asks in a chilling voice. Looking at the closed door for one last time, Dandi tells him "Last night, they arrested him." "Who?" Omkara asks knowing well who Dandi was talking about. "Dutta. It is in the paper." Dandi tells him as he hurriedly picks up the newspaper from the table and handing it to Omkara as he pointed out the news article.
Omkara read the news three times before he left his breath. After 17 years, finally his arch-enemy was brought to justice. He had thrown money all over the country to have Dutta brought to justice. Finally, his day had come. He had waited 17 years, 4 months and 28 days for this day. Unlike last time, this time Omkara will make sure Dutta pay for what he did. He still remembered the night all those years ago when Dutta had killed his father in cold blood. He had killed his father in front of him, and there was nothing a 12 year old could have done. When the police had arrested him, Dutta had threatened his mother with his life forcing her to save the man who killed her husband to save her son. Omkara remembered how his mother had lied in court saying Omkara was delusional and undergoing psychiatric treatment, and she had witnessed her husband's murder and the killer was not Dutta. And Dutta had walked scott free to become a dreaded underworld don all feared. For 17 years, Omkara lived with the knowledge that Dutta was living in the save earth breathing the same air that he did. But all his attempts at revenge were thwarted by his own mother who still feared Dutta and his retaliation. She had his hands tied with her fear. After his mother passed away the year before, Omkara started making his moves to ruin Dutta who had unfortunately gone into hiding by then. Then he had found out through his sources that Dutta very secretly met a girl in Mumbai, his girlfriend. Omkara jolted out of his thoughts when a thought struck him, did she know? Was that why she was behaving strangely the last two days? His insecurities starts clouding his logical thinking, ignoring the fact that Dutta was arrested last night while his wife was behaving strangely for the last two days.
Omkara opens the bedroom door to find his wife sitting at the dressing table applying her sindoor, she looked lost in thoughts. Seeing his reflection on the mirror she jumped up with a smile and looked at him, "Omkara, you wanted something? Why don't you take your bath while I fix your breakfast?" she said as she started to walk past him to leave the room. "Gauri.." Omkara says her name as he held her hand from going out of the room. She looks at him and lovingly touches his cheeks "Yes, Omkara." The darkness in his heart slowly started going away as he watched her loving face. She loved him. All her actions showed her love. She put him above everyone. Even Dutta. Omkara wondered whether he should tell her about Dutta, then decided to tell her as she would find out anyway about it through news and papers. He hands her the newspaper. She takes it with mild curiosity as she scanned the headlines. The moment she saw the news a sob escaped her mouth. He watched as she fell down to the floor with one hand covering her mouth as if to stop her from crying while her other hand gently caressed the photo of Dutta being dragged by the police. He could hear her feeble "no.. no..."
Omkara felt the darkness taking full control over his heart. No no.. she is mine. not Dutta's. She loves me. She loves only me. How can Dutta lose and still win while he, Omkara won but still lost? Gauri loved him and him alone. She had to show him she loved only him and no one else. She has to love him now, this instance. Bending down, he gently holds her "Gauri..." she looks up at him in shock only then remembering his presence. "Omkara..." "I want you."she knew what he wanted, this was not the first time it had happened. When he had found out that Dutta had come to see her he had made this same demand, but this time.. "No, Omkara. I can't. Not now." She begged him. Then she heard his voice breaking "I need you, Gauri..."
Gauri looked at her husband, he was breaking, his insecurities and fears were visible. And just like that, his pain took priority. Forgetting her pain she hugged him and went onto show him how much she loved him, and she only belonged to him.
Omkara kept up with the gentle assault on her body until she screamed out her love for him again and again.
Omkara watched as Gauri lay next to him lost in thoughts. Her back was to him as he snuggled to her while she held his hand with both her hands securely on her bosom. Omkara watched her, the innocent who got caught up in his war with Dutta. When he had found out about Dutta's secret girlfriend he had decided to use her in drawing out Dutta. It had only taken Omkara all of three weeks to make Gauri fall in love with. But that didn't bring out Dutta. So he took his game to the next step. He married Gauri to bring out Dutta. Neither did that bring out Dutta. Omkara remembered those days he was a possessed man with a mission. Having been scarred brutally by Dutta he didn't see right from wrong, just his goal. He remembered telling his shocked new bride what her role was in his revenge plan. Then he had insisted on consummating his marriage. What he didn't know for a long time was that he had fallen in love with Gauri during his love game, consummating was his way of making sure that she remained with him. Gauri remained aloof to him except for when they made love. Things changed when one day in height of passion he had declared his love for her shocking him and her. From the next day onwards their life changed. Gauri was back to the girl she was before marriage, she started showering him with her love and care. She took care of him, pampered him and declared her love for him without any inhibitions, while after that one incident he never declared his love. But Gauri seemed to understand that, she understood his love for her, his insecurities regarding her and Dutta. It was like she could see through him, in all his twisted ways, his insecurities, his scarred life, his pain, she saw the man, he might have become had tragedy not struck him at 12. Omkara had to admit to himself that he did change, after Gauri became his wife, his obsession for revenge had diminished and a new obsession took shape, Gauri. After his marriage, his search for Dutta hadn't been that obsessive. Even after Dutta being arrested, a huge part of him was not happy. Because, it hurt Gauri and what hurts Gauri hurts him. Omkara realized that for Gauri he had to let go of his enmity. Let law take its course. Maybe, move away so he can have a fresh start with Gauri, where both can forget Dutta. Omkara painfully realized that by forgetting Dutta, he will have to let go of his father's death too, he has to come to peace with it. He just wanted a life with his Gauri were he could tell her how much he loved her, talk to her like a normal husband, worry about their future and kids instead of his past. He always wanted to feel secure in her love.
Making up his mind for a fresh start, Omkara looks at Gauri who was lost in thoughts. He gently kisses her on her naked shoulders. She turns to look at him. She caresses his hair "Omkara..." "Hmmm" "Now that Dutta is caught, you won't leave me right?" she asked him in fear. "No, Gauri. never. You know how much i..." Omkara says quickly to reassure her but stopping mid-sentence. Gauri smiles, "I know. I just got insecure." She hugs him and says "I love you, Omkara and I can't live without you." Omkara hugs her back and after months he told her what was in his heart "I love you, Gauri. And I live only for you." Gauri looks at him in shock and then finally tears in her eyes she says just the way he tells her "I want you now."
Omkara stood in the room as he waited for his enemy to come. He had come to end his past here before he started his future with Gauri. Dutta walked in the other side of the room. Omkara watched as the man who had took everything away from him stood opposite him, the only thing separating him from him was the grill in between. He was seeing Dutta after 17 long years, and Omkara realized that the only reason Dutta was still breathing was Gauri. The root of all his insecurities was the truth that Gauri still cared and loved Dutta, Gauri never talked about Dutta, but he knew she cared. It hurts but he knew if Gauri had to choose it would always be Omkara for her.
"I did expect you." Dutta tells him pleasantly. "I wanted to see for myself. How does it feel to be where you belong?" Omkara asks him with anger. "This is not going to hold me in for a long time. Just think that I am here to simply humor you." Dutta replies with a smirk. Omkara angrily marches to the grill and hold it with his might as he said "the only reason you are still breathing is because of Gauri." "Strangely, that is the only reason why you are breathing too." Dutta replies arrogantly. "I didn't know that you were using her to draw me out. When I found out about it, Gauri was already married to you." "Don't you dare say her name." "If she hadn't told me that she loves you, I would have forgotten everything and killed you. If she had told me otherwise, then you would have been long dead." Omkara was stuck on one point while Dutta ranted, "Forgotten what?" Omkara asks. Dutta stops his ranting and then says as if dismissing Omkara "Go home, Omkara. You have a good life ahead of you. Keep Gauri happy. Tell her not to worry about me." He turns to go when Omkara stopped him, "Why did you kill my father?" Dutta turns to look Omkara and shakes his head in no. "I need to know." "Go home." "I can't move on without knowing your reason." Omkara tells him finally. "What did my father do to you? He was a nice man. Was it for money?" Omkara asks frantically. Dutta watches him for a long time and sighs "Gauri was right. I did damage you." Omkara stops short hearing that "You both discuss about me?" "Yes." Omkara was heartbroken hearing that. How could she discuss him with her ex-boyfriend? his enemy? "All about how she loves you. And how you love her. blah blah blah. I hear your love story every damn time I see her." Dutta says. "You see her?" Omkara was aware of the onetime Gauri had met Dutta. He and cops had followed her to Dutta few days after he had married her, but Dutta had escaped then. But she met him after that too? How could she do this to me? "It's not what you think." Dutta says realizing the way Omkara was thinking. Omkara starts leaving from there when Dutta's words reached him. "I am not allowed to tell you why I killed your father." Omkara turns and looks at him. "What?" "The second time I met Gauri, I gave her something she asked me. You find that and you will know why I killed your father." "What is that? And why can't you tell me?" Omkara asks desperately. "It is a video cd and 2 letters. I can't tell you because I gave Gauri my word that you will never find out why I killed your father." Dutta says. Not wanting to create any misunderstandings between Omkara and Gauri, Dutta tells him, "In her twisted way, she truly believes she is protecting you by hiding it from you."
She is protecting you. She is protecting you. She is protecting you. That was all that kept ringing in his ears as he drove home. He wanted closure and his past was wide open now with Gauri somehow in the middle of it. What was it that Gauri didn't want him to find out? And why didn't she want me to find it? Omkara walks into his room. Omkara noticed that the moment she realized his presence she hid something behind her. "Omkara, you came?" Gauri asks smiling. For once, her smile didn't reach her eyes. He knew she was worried and hiding something from him. "Where did you go?" "I went to see Dutta." Hearing him, she turned pale. "How is he?" she asked in a bare whisper. "He is fine. Told me to tell you not worry about him." Omkara replies watching her. "I will bring tea." Gauri says as she started to walk. "He said you have a cd and two letters with you. And that will explain to me why he killed my father." Gauri spun back to look at him "No Omkara. I don't have anything." The moment the words were out of her mouth he knew she was lying. But realized two more things, Gauri looked terrified and the paper she was trying to hide from him had fallen to ground, all forgotten. "I don't have anything, Omkara. Why do you want to find out the reason? Can't we just move on?" Gauri begged him worried. Omkara could not ignore what was staring at his face, Gauri loved him and the reason she was lying was somehow to protect him, but from what? Who? "Maybe he was lying." Omkara says to put her at ease. Gauri nodes her head vigorously. "Get me my tea, Gauri. I need to lie down for some time." Omkara tells her. She nods her head and quickly leaves. The moment the door closed, Omkara quickly starts searching his room. After a quick search there was neither cd nor letters. He dejectedly runs his hands through his hair when he remembered the paper on the floor. He picked up the paper to find out what was the other thing Gauri was trying to hide from him. He opens the letter and breaks out into a smile. Gauri is pregnant. He was about to run to Gauri when he realized that she was trying to hide it from here. Maybe she wanted to tell me in her special way. Omkara puts the paper back on the floor and decides to wait for Gauri to tell him. Also realizing that, this was the reason she was acting strange the last two days.
Two days later
Omkara was searching the kitchen when the light turns on. He turns in shock to see Gauri standing there. "What are you searching for?" Gauri asks. "I want to know, Gauri." Omkara finally tells her. "No, Omkara." Gauri says with tears. "I know you have it. Please, Gauri." "I can't, Omkara." Gauri says as she turns to walk off. "Why, Gauri?" "You won't be able to bear it." Gauri manages to tell him through her tears.
Omkara follows Gauri to her room, and sees her lying on bed crying. "Gauri, please don't cry. You know it's not good for the baby." Omkara tells her and Gauri stops in shock. "How did you know?" "I saw the results. I thought you wanted to tell me in some special way, but it's been two days and you still haven't told me." Gauri remains silent while Omkara waited for her to say something. "What is it, Gauri?" he finally asks her. "I haven't decided, Omkara." Gauri hesitantly says. "Decided what?" "Whether I want to have this baby." Gauri replies. Omkara was rooted to the ground as he tried to digest what she said. "Why do you want to kill our baby?" "I can't live without you, Omkara." Gauri tells him. "Even I can't.." she cuts him off and says "But I can't raise a baby with you." Seeing Omkara's heartbroken expression, Gauri regretfully tells him, "You are so stuck on your past. You are not ready to let go and move on. How can we raise a baby in this household?" Without saying anything, Omkara gets up & leaves ignoring Gauri calling out to him.
Next day morning, Omkara opens the door to his apartment and the moment he stepped in Gauri came running to him. "Where did you go? Why did you leave me? How could you go away like this?" she screamed at him and she hugged him tightly to her. realizing that she was crying, maybe the whole night too, Omkara pulls her back to see her face. "Don't cry again. I don't want you to cry again, not because you are pregnant. Because when you cry my heart breaks." Omkara tells her sadly. Gauri nods her head and wipes her tears. "Don't ever leave me again. I don't know what I will do without you." "Sorry, Gauri. I needed to think. That is why I left." Omkara tells her. "You are right, you can't raise a baby with me." Gauri looks at him in shock when he continues, "But that is going to change. I am going to change. We will go from here. Somewhere far away, where my past won't be able to catch up with me. We will start new with our baby. There won't be any revenge only love. I promise you that. You will come with me, right?" Gauri nods her head happily and hugs him.
Sometime later, Omkara watches Gauri walk into her puja room to pray. The only place in the house that was Gauri's, he never entered there. He never prayed. He followed her and stood next to her to pray. Gauri smiles happily seeing him and they both pray together. And that's when Omkara knew that the video cd and the letters would be in the puja room. The only place Gauri knew he would never enter. The only place she knew it would be safe, with her Shankarji. Omkara looks at Gauri and the life within her, and decided that he wouldn't look for the cd and letters. He owed his wife and unborn child that.
Omkara watched as Gauri started sorting their clothes deciding which all to take and which all to give away for charity. "That is really old." Omkara says as he lazily sat near her on the bed when she kept an old shirt in his "keeping" pile. "But it looks nice on you." Gauri tells him. "How nice?" Omkara asks as he pulled her closer. "How nice matlab?." Gauri asks. "that when you see me in that shirt you are proud that he is my husband – nice or when you see me in that shirt that you want to tear off my clothes and have steamy hot sex with me – nice?" Gauri gapes at him, this was the first time he was talking to her in a carefree happy way. Not even when they were dating was he like this. "What?" Omkara asks. "I am seeing you like this first time." Gauri says with a smile as she wrapped her arms around him. "And?" "And I like this you much much better than the old you." Gauri says kissing him while she started unbuttoning his shirt.
"Gauri..." Omkara gently calls her name as he snuggled closer to her. "Hmmm?" "Do you want to see him before you leave?" and he felt her stiffening. "If you want, I will take you." When she remained silent, he continues "I don't know what kind of relation you have with him and what you feel for him. I trust you and I know you love only me. He is my enemy, but he means something to you. So, if you want, I will take you to see him so you can say goodbye." Gauri nods her head sadly "I might won't see him ever again. Will you take me?" "Yes, I will."
Omkara found himself standing in the same room he was in the week before. The moment Dutta came in view, Gauri ran towards the grill. "Now didn't expect this." Dutta says arrogantly but Omkara noticed his eyes misting up. "Dutta..." Gauri starts when Dutta cuts her off "I am not going to ask you whether you are fine. Because I know you are. And I realize now that you were telling the truth. He does love you otherwise he couldn't have brought you here to see your old lover." Dutta says sneering at the lover part. "We are going away from here." Gauri tells him. "I came here to tell you that. And leave all this. You were not like this. You were not this." Gauri pleads. "This is what I am. This is who I am. There is no other me, now. Anyway, now that I saw you, I am happy. You go." Dutta tells her. "We are going to have a baby." Gauri tells him. "We don't want Omkara's past to come back to us. So, this is the last time I am seeing you. Now you will never see me." Dutta takes a sharp breath as he looked at Omkara, "Where are you going?" "We won't tell you. Please understand, Dutta. Omkara can't move forward with your presence in his life." Gauri pleads. "He can, once he finds the truth." Dutta argues. Gauri pales while Omkara looks at Dutta in shock. What truth? "You promised me!!!" Gauri accuses him. "I want to go from here, Omkara." Gauri tells him. Omkara knew if he stood there for a few more minutes maybe Dutta would tell him but decided against it. Gauri was more important. "Let's go." Omkara tells her as he gently took her hand in his to walk away. "Go wherever you want Gauri. But like all these years, in the coming years too I will come to you on Raksha Bandan." Dutta tells her. Omkara stops in shock as he looked from Dutta to Gauri "Raksha Bandan?" "She is not my lover, she is my little sister." Dutta confirms. "Gauri..." Omkara turns to her in shock. Gauri turns to Dutta in tears and outrage "How could you do this to me, Bhao? You promised me." "I promised that he wouldn't ever find out the reason. Not this." Dutta argues. "Why did you do this?" Gauri asks. "Because he needs to know." Dutta replies, then looking at Omkara he says "Consider this one truth as my penance for snatching away the childhood from a 12 year old." Omkara watched Dutta wondering whether he saw remorse in Dutta. Guessing what he was thinking Dutta says, "I don't regret killing your father. He needed to die. My only regret was and will always be is that you had to watch it." Turning to Gauri he says, "How much ever you run, he is always going to wonder why I killed his father, the fact that you know the reason will come between you today or tomorrow. He needs to come to terms with it before your baby comes to this world. He needs to be completely in peace with it; else a part of him will always be stuck on his past." Dutta says and walks off.
Omkara & Gauri walks into their apartment, both lost in thoughts. Finally, not able to take his silence she finally asks "You hate me now, right?" "What?" Omkara looks up at her in shock, "Now you know that your father's killer's blood runs through my veins too. You don't want me now, I know." Omkara immediately walks to her and hugs her, "Is that why you hid it from?" Gauri nods her head in reply. "It doesn't matter to me whose blood runs through your vein. I know you and I love you. Nothing matters more." Omkara says as he hugged her. "I was scared." Gauri tells him as she broke down. Omkara hugs her as she cried and finally tells her, "Maybe at first I would have reacted differently but now you are everything to me." Once she calms down, Omkara gently broaches the other topic. "It is in your Puja room right?" Gauri stiffens hearing that. "I want to know, but only when you are ready to give it to me. I won't rush you." Omkara promises her.
Omkara was sending out all his official mails as he wound up his business in Mumbai when Gauri walked in. "Maybe, Bhao is right. You need to know before you can let go." Omkara looks up to see her holding a brown envelope. "After Bhao found out about our marriage, remember he came to see me and you came with the police." Gauri asks and Omkara nods his head, "That time he told me why he killed your father. And I told him I wanted this so that you never find out about it. Till you told me, I didn't even know bhao was a don, I was under the impression he was a travelling businessman cum trader." Gauri explains, "Then next raksha bandan when he came, he gave me this. I never watched it nor read it. And I took his promise that you will never find out about this. And here I am." Gauri says as she wiped her tears. She walks to him and gently hands to him. "You might want to do this alone." Gauri tells him.
Omkara walked to their bedroom and put on the cd. He wanted Gauri to be with him, but he knew she didn't want to watch it with him. So, he didn't force her. The moment the video started he knew why. He watched in dread as a young girl lay on the bed unconscious a man, no his father though his face was not visible, his profile was enough for Omkara to recognize. Omkara didn't know whether even for 5 complete minutes he watched the video before he rushed to the bathroom to throw up. Not able to see his father raping an unconscious girl. Without watching the remaining video Omkara switched it off. All his earlier memories of his father tainted. The man he had thought was his hero was nothing but a rapist. The man he wasted all his life to avenge was this. Dreadfully he opens one of the two letters.
My Dear Dutta,
By the time you read this, I won't be alive. I am sorry; I can't go on living like this. What had only been yours was snatched away from me. I was not going to leave you this letter, but then I realized that you will waste your life wondering why I did this.
Today, I was asked to stay back in office for a meeting. I was alone with my boss, Tej Oberoi. The last thing I remember is drinking tea with him. Then when I woke up, I had lost everything. He raped me. And he had it videotaped. He told me that if I didn't sleep with him or whoever he asked me to, then he will have this video circulated in all the video libraries. I don't have any other choice, Dutta. I am sorry. Please forgive me and move on in life.
Only yours,
Trishna.
Omkara wiped his tears as he took the other letter, and was shocked to see the very familiar handwriting. It was a letter from his mother to Dutta.
Dutta,
The moment I saw you walk into my house, I knew you were Trishna's Dutta. She used to tell me about you. She was a nice girl, she was like my daughter. Unfortunately, it was me who had recommended her to my husband. I heard about her suicide and then you came and killed my husband. At once, I knew that my husband was behind Trishna's death. I know my husband, he was a monster. I searched his study and found the cd attached to this letter. There were more, but I didn't recognize the girls in it so I destroyed it. I am sending you this so that I want you to know that Trishna's virtue is intact. Rest assured, there aren't any copies of this cd. In a way, you not only avenged Trishna, you did it for me too. Trishna was courageous; she had the courage to end it while I didn't. I have a son, and I need to live for him. My husband had forced me to submit to other men for his business gains, many times threatening me with my son's life. When I started refusing he started using other girls. Now I realize that I was in a way responsible for Trishna's death. I should have fought him, but I was worried for my son. I was scared for his future. I request you to plead not guilty in court, please don't reveal my husband's true character to the world. It will ruin my son's life. For my son, his father is his hero. I promise you that I will save you. No matter what, you will not be punished for this. But please protect my son from his father.
Regrets,
J
Omkara sat motionless as he read his mother's letter to Dutta. He remembered the day at court 17 years ago.
Omkara stood alone as he watched Dutta walk out from court free. His mother came to him and gently touched him "Let's go home, Om." Angrily he pushed her hand away "I hate you! You are not my mother!" and was about to run off when Dutta who had been watching him came over to him, "My threat still stands, if you open your mouth about me, I will kill your son." Dutta threatened her and walked off. Omkara turns to his mother and asks in shock "Did he say he will kill me? Is that why you lied?" His mother had turned to look at him and nod yes.
Omkara now realized that at the time, he had failed to recognize her astonishment and relief at Dutta's lie. Dutta had helped his mother from losing her son, and while he had snatched his father away from him, he had given his mother to him.
Another memory he had forgotten and put away in his sub conscious surfaced. He doesn't remember much just two sentences "I will not do this anymore. I will not go to anyone for you to become rich." His mother had screamed that, and at that age he didn't know the meaning of that but now he knew. His father had sold his mother. Clutching the letter in his hand he screamed out in agony "AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa". A moment later he was engulfed in Gauri's arms as he cried out loud. He could hear Gauri saying soothing words in between her loud sobs, but nothing registered. All that registered was his agony. As he cried, Gauri wrapped her around him, secured in her love he cried for his mother, Trishna, his childhood and for Dutta.
Five years later
Gauri watched as Omkara played football with their 4 year old son. Omkara was laughing without a care in the world cheating his son at every opportunity he got much to the chagrin of his very righteous son, Omi. Seeing the righteous way Omi behaved at this young age, Omkara always jokes that he had been taken after his Uncle Dutta.
