"I don't want to marry you." Gauri tells him in a soft voice so that her parents or his, hears her.
"WHAT?"
Hearing the furious question, Gauri gulps in shock and turns to look at her parents and sees them watching her curiously. She quickly turns to him and looking at his furious eyes, she tells him in a gentle tone, "I love someone else. I want to marry him. I am sorry."
"You are saying no to Omkara? Superstar Omkara?" Omkara asks her furiously.
"Yes." Gauri says gulping in worry seeing his reaction. "You will get any girl in this world. And she would be lucky to have you."
Omkara looks at her with a furious scowl in reply.
"I love another. Please my parents don't want me to marry him as he can't marry me now. He hasn't found a stable job and my parents aren't willing to wait as I have two younger sisters to get married after me. So please, say no."
"You want me to say no but it is you who is doing the rejection." Omkara states.
"Please..." Gauri starts and he cuts her off, "And rejecting me for a common man? Ek sadak chaap?"
"Don't talk about him like that." Gauri says getting angry.
"Also have the nerve to talk to me in this tone too! ME... Omkara Singh Oberoi!"
"I am done talking to you." Gauri says furiously getting up and walks towards her parents.
"What happened?" Pinky softly whispers to Gauri.
"Nothing." Gauri whispers shaking her head in relief that this proposal is also cancelled.
"We will leave now and get back to you with our answer." Tej says as he stood up.
"There is no need for that." Omkara declares as he walked towards them.
"Any problem?" Tej asks his son confused.
"Nope. Everything is perfect." Omkara declares gaining Gauri's attention. She turns to him in curiosity and worry and sees him watching her. His inscrutable eyes piercing her.
"Om?" Jhanvi gently keeps her hand on her son's to gain his attention.
"I like her." Omkara declares without taking his eyes off Gauri. "I want to marry her as soon as possible. If this week, then this week itself."
"what?" Gauri asks him in shock. "I..."
"I can't wait any longer, sweetheart." Omkara says cutting her off. "We will leave now." Omkara tells her parents with a polite smile and then turning to her he says with a smile, "I will see you for our wedding, biwi." And with that, without even a backward glance, he walked away.
Gauri furiously waits for him to pick up the call. After few ringing a man picks up the call.
"I want to speak to Omkara." Gauri says angrily.
"And who are you?" he asks in a mocking tone.
"Gauri."
"Bhabhiji, you? I am Khanna. Sir's manager." Khanna says in an excited tone. "I will give the phone to Sir. Just a sec."
"Sir... Bhabhiji is on the phone." Gauri hears Khanna saying excitedly to Omkara.
"Haan Biwi, bolo." Omkara says as he picked the phone.
"Don't call me biwi." Gauri says angrily.
"I haven't given anyone the right to talk to me in that tone. Not even you, biwi." Omkara tells her in an irritated tone.
"I am not your biwi. I will not marry you."
"You will. No one says no to Omkara. And no one rejects Omkara." Omkara says in an angry but controlled tone.
"You can't marry me to satisfy your ego."
"I can."
"Why are you doing this?" Gauri asks him helplessly.
"Ego." Omkara replies.
"Please don't do this. I am sorry. I made a mistake. Please, I love someone else."
"Whether you beg me or you say to me in anger, rejection is still rejection and no one says no to Omkara."
"You are mad. You are ruining my life and yours." Gauri begs him on the verge of tears.
"It doesn't matter." Omkara tells her.
"Please, my parents are forcing me. I can't hurt them but I love Arjun."
"Not my problem, biwi."
"Please Omkara..."
"Listen biwi, you can call me whenever you want, no restrictions for you but don't call me to discuss this petty issue. As far as I am concerned this topic is closed. Got it?"
"I will never love you." Gauri tells him furiously.
Omkara laughs loudly hearing her, hurting and insulting Gauri all the more. Once his laughter died down, he says "Okay, got shoot. Bye biwi."
Gauri watched as Jhanvi helped her to the bed chattering away happily. In a week, everything had turned topsy-turvy. Omkara and her parents were adamant, and she had to marry him. Her heart was breaking into pieces every time she thought of the injustice done to her. She loved a man, who loved her equally but wasn't in a position to marry her and now she was married to a man, who married her only to satisfy his ego. She wished she could have erased these two weeks from her life, ever since Omkara's mother had seen her at a wedding and send the proposal for her son. When she had heard of the proposal, she was least worried, as she knew how much ever her parents were excited about the proposal, she believed that a superstar will never have an arranged marriage. Which film star had an arranged marriage? But Omkara turned out to be exactly like the gossip columns, he was mean, egoistic and arrogant. Now her life was over. Married to a man who neither respected her nor cared for her feelings. She will never accept him as her husband, Gauri vowed.
"When Om said yes to the marriage, I was really shocked." Jhanvi said happily. "But then he had promised me long back that he would always marry a girl I approved. Whatever the people say about him, my son is a gem."
Jhanvi lovingly cups Gauri's face and tells her, "Now, he is your responsibility. Take care of my Om, Gauri."
Gauri looks at the elderly woman and smiles sadly. Jhanvi was a nice woman, she was so loving, ever since she entered this house few hours back, Jhanvi has been by her side, taking care of her and making sure she was fine. Even Tej was equally caring. She couldn't bring herself to be angry or hate Omkara's parents for his fault. Maybe she should have spoken to them instead of calling Omkara. Gauri belatedly thought regretfully.
"You are happy, right?" Jhanvi asks her lovingly. "I know you might miss your parents, but we are also your parents, right?"
Gauri nods her head, not wanting to hurt her.
"Okay, I will send Om now." Jhanvi tells her with a smile and then quickly leaves.
As the door closes, Gauri's heart starts slamming against her chest. What was in store for her after he enters the room? She was not going to let him win. Gauri decided. She quickly gets on the bed and closes her eyes pretending to sleep. She will not let him touch her, and if he does touch her then she will bring down the whole house screaming.
Gauri hears the door opening and closes her eyes and tries to stay still feigning sleep as her heart shivered in fear. She hears the door closing and Omkara turning the key to lock the room. Gauri gripped her hands in fear and hears him walking towards her.
"Biwi..." Omkara calls her name in a gentle tone.
Gauri ignores him as she continued to sleep though she started to feel cold in fear.
"Biwi, get up and change your clothes. You are going to hurt yourself wearing all this jewellery and this dress." Omkara tells her again.
Yeah, right! As if he cares if anything happens to me.
"Biwi!" Omkara says irately sighing loudly. "I know you are not sleeping."
"Biwi... you are irritating me now. Stop being childish."
Gauri ignores him.
"FINE!" Omkara says angrily and a second later she felt cold water splashing on her face.
Gauri sits up spluttering in shock and sees him holding the water jug.
"Now that you are awake, go change!" Omkara orders her.
Having no other option, Gauri gets up and walks off to the dressing room, wiping her face with her hand.
Gauri comes out of the dressing room, determined to ignore him. She wasn't even going to show her anger to him.
Gauri comes out and sees him sitting on the couch typing away on his phone. The moment he hears her he looks up at her. Gauri looks away and walks to the bed and gets on the bed. Then pulling the covers over her she closes her eyes. She hears him going to the dressing room and sighs in relief to be alone for a few minutes more.
Few minutes later, she hears him come out of the dressing room and she grips her blanket tightly.
"Is it too cold for you?" Omkara asks her.
Gauri controls her urge to turn and look at him in shock, hearing his question, if she didn't know better, she would think he was being considerate, first about her clothes which she agrees with him was very uncomfortable and now with the AC. But she knew him and refuses to reply to him.
Then she hears him adjusting the AC and tossing away the remote. Then a second later she feels him lifting the other end of the blanket and then he getting on bed. Gauri holds her breath and grips her blanket tightly.
"Relax, biwi." Omkara casually tells her. "I am not going to do anything to you. Sleep. Good night."
The rest of the night, he was silent and stayed on his side of the bed, leaving Gauri completely confused. She had expected him to at least try to get close to her but he was...
Gauri wakes up in the morning, and sees Omkara sleeping on his stomach. Without making any sound, she quickly gets ready and hurries down.
"Good morning, Gauri." Tej wishes her with a loving smile as she climbed down.
"Good morning, Daddyji." Gauri wishes him with a soft smile. How did these two good people get Omkara as their son?
"Did you sleep well?" Tej asks her.
"Yes." Gauri lies.
"Gauri, come let's have breakfast." Jhanvi tells her. "Om will wake up late when he has no shoot. He will eat later."
As if I care when he eats!
Gauri has breakfast with her in-laws, listening to them talk about various things. God! She couldn't help but like these nice people.
Gauri was talking to Jhanvi or rather listening to her talk, when she hears footsteps. She looks up and sees Omkara walking down the stairs. His eyes were on hers and she quickly looks down.
"You are up early." Jhanvi says smiling at him and Omkara sweetly smiles back at her.
"I'll get your tea and breakfast." Jhanvi tells him and starts to walk off. Gauri quickly gets up and starts to follow her, when Omkara holds her hand.
"You sit with me, biwi."
"No." Gauri softly replies as she tried to pull her hand free.
"Gauri, you sit with Om." Jhanvi tells her with a smile.
Having no other option, Gauri walks towards the couch and sits on a single seater. Without a word, Omkara pulls the closest sofa and pulls it closer to her and sits down with the newspaper. Then he opens the paper and reads it without a word.
Gauri watches him for a few minutes, wondering what is going through his head. What his intentions were. Then realizing that she didn't have to sit and watch him read the paper, she gets up and start to walk off when he holds her hand again.
"Sit down, biwi. I didn't tell you that you can leave."
"I don't need your permission to leave." Gauri furiously tells him. "And stop calling me biwi!"
"Ah! I am so relieved!" Omkara says sighing loudly.
Gauri looks at him confused wondering what he was so relieved about.
"I thought, you had gone deaf and dumb in your joy of marrying me."
Glaring at him furiously she pulls her hand free.
Chuckling Omkara grabs her hand and pulls her down on his lap.
"What are you doing?" Gauri asks him angrily as she struggled to get up.
"You either sit next to me or on my lap."
"Fine! I will sit there." Gauri says pointing at the sofa.
Omkara leaves her hand and Gauri moves to her previous place, and Omkara resumes his reading.
"Why are you two sitting like this?" Jhanvi asks curiously seeing their seating arrangements.
"Gauri was feeling shy to sit next to me in front of you." Omkara lies with a smile.
Jhanvi chuckles hearing him, "Even I was like that at the beginning." Then turning to Gauri, she tells her, "Don't be shy, Gauri. Only you have the right to sit beside him."
"You heard her, biwi." Omkara tells her with a naughty smile.
Gauri looks down not knowing what to say.
"She is so shy." Omkara tells his mother with naughty grin.
"You stop teasing her. Come and have your breakfast."
"Did you eat, biwi?" Omkara asks Gauri.
Gauri nods in reply as Jhanvi was watching her.
Omkara nods and gets up casually taking her hand in his and pulling her along with him. Having no other choice, Gauri goes with him.
Omkara stops at the table and leaving her hand, he pulls out a chair. Then he looks at her. when he keeps watching her, Gauri looks at him confusedly.
"Sit, biwi." Omkara tells her exasperated.
Gauri sits down and whispers to him, "You don't have to act chivalrous to show your mother. She went to the other room."
"I only act when I get paid for it, biwi." Omkara replies to her as he put a paratha into his plate, then he put another and another.
Gauri's eyes wide in shock seeing him eating three fat paratha's dipped in ghee. Didn't actors have diets?
"Do you cook?" Omkara asks her.
"No." Gauri lies.
"Hmmm... we have cooks, but it would have been nice to eat food made by you once in a while." Omkara says as he tore a paratha.
"I am not going to cook for you." Gauri whispers to him.
"Your wish." Omkara tells her calmly.
"How sweet? Only if you had shown this consideration when you decided to marry me." Gauri says angrily.
"You shouldn't have rejected me."
"What should I have done then to make you say no?" Gauri asks him.
"Just kept your mouth shut. I would have said no." Omkara tells her.
"What? You were going to say no to me?" Gauri asks in shock.
"Of course! I promised ma that I will marry a girl she approved, but I wouldn't have married any girl she picked. You don't have the oomph factor to be a superstar's wife." Omkara tells her with a careless shrug.
"So you were going to say no?" Gauri asks shocked.
"Yes... I meant I was going to say no. in fact I said no when I saw your photo itself. But ma forced me to see you and decide. Don't take me wrong, you are beautiful and all, but you are not modern enough to be my wife."
"But then you said yes." Gauri says in shock and not even considering the fact that whatever he had said was insulting.
"Yes. A girl like you saying no to me... now you understand why my ego was hurt?" Omkara asks her.
"I understand that you are a psycho." Gauri says angrily as she stood up.
Omkara quickly holds her hand and says, "Now all that doesn't matter. What matters is that we are married and we should accept each other."
"I am not going to accept you. Ever!" Gauri declares.
"Let's see." Omkara says and then orders her, "Sit silently now. I don't like anyone talking to me when I eat."
"I am going."
"You want to sit on my lap while I eat?" Omkara asks her.
Huffing furiously, Gauri sits down and then watches silently as Omkara ate his food.
After breakfast, Omkara takes Gauri's hand and walks off without a word.
"Leave my hand." Gauri tells him as she furiously pulled at her hand.
Omkara ignores her and continues walking. He walks past their room and enters the next room. Seeing the cozy room with a table and a chair on one side and three chairs on the opposite side, and in another corner two sofas with a coffee table, Gauri realizes that she has stepped into Omkara's study. She sees a portly man standing with three mobile phones in his hand.
"Sir... bhabhiji." He says smiling happily at them.
"Khanna." Omkara nods at him and then tells Gauri, "Gauri, this is Khanna. He is my secretary. You need anything, you can tell him."
"I will only be happy to assist you in any way I can, bhabhiji." Khanna tells her with a genuine smile.
Gauri couldn't help smiling at the man. he was looking so happy to see her. how could Omkara turn out like this when he was surrounded by such nice people?
"Is the climax ready, Khanna?" Omkara asks Khanna as he sat on the couch pulling Gauri along with him.
"Yes, Sir. If you approve of this, I can adjust the dates for January. They need 5 days to shoot the climax." Khanna informs him.
"Okay, give me the script." Omkara tells him.
Khanna quickly hands him the script and Omkara without a word starts reading it while Gauri sat there wondering what she was doing there.
"You do your work; I will go down." Gauri tells him not wanting to create a scene in front of Khanna.
"You sit here." Omkara tells her as he continued to read.
Sighing loudly Gauri sits there as she studied her hand. Then she looks at her mehendi. Her mehendi was dark, she didn't believe it was because her husband loved her that much, it was because of the chemicals they used in mehendi. Gauri consoles herself. Then she looks at the way Omkara was written in bold on the middle of her palm. She had told the mehendi artist not to write any name but that stupid girl was a big fan of Omkara and had written his name in bold and that was the darkest part of her mehendi.
"Mehendi is good." Omkara tells her.
"What?" Gauri turns to him as she closed her fist to hide her mehendi.
"I said your mehendi is good." Omkara repeats turning to look at her.
"I don't believe in that darker your mehendi crap." Gauri tells him.
"What is that?" Omkara asks her confused.
"Nothing." Gauri says.
"Darker your mehendi that much your husband loves you." Khanna informs Omkara with a shy smile.
"Ahaan." Omkara says with a smile.
"What?" Gauri asks seeing him smile.
"I didn't know that. Anyway, all I was saying is that your mehendi looks beautiful on your hand. Specially my name."
"I told her not to write it. But she was your fan." Gauri cribs as she rubbed her palm where his name was written.
"Biwi." Omkara calls her with a chuckle as he stopped her rubbing her palm.
"What?"
"If Omkara decides to become part of you then he will, no matter what. You can't stop him." Omkara tells her looking into her eyes.
Gauri feels a chill running through her spine at the same time, goosebumps all over her arms. She nervously looks away and mutters, "You should stop referring to yourself as third person, it sounds mental."
Omkara chuckles as he turned away to read the script. Though he didn't leave her hand. As he got busy reading the scene, his thumb unconsciously starts caressing her finger.
Gauri felt goosebumps all over her body as his thumb slowly brushed against her skin. She quickly pulls away her hand.
God! What was happening to her? why was his touch suddenly affecting her? she hated him. She was angry at him. She was never going to forgive him. Then why was her body suddenly feeling things that she never felt before? Didn't she love Arjun? True that she is angry with him for not willing to marry her now, but did that anger kill her love? Just because she married Omkara, did that make her accept him as her husband? NO! never! She was never going to forgive Omkara for snatching away her life choice from her.
Then she felt him take her hand again and gently squeezing it. She looks up at him in anger and sees him engrossed in the script. She tries to pull her hand free and he tightens his hold on her.
"This is good, Khanna." Omkara informs him as he passed the script to him.
"So I will give them dates for January?"
"Okay. Make sure I get a few days off between shoots."
"I know, Sir. I have told the production houses that since you are married now, that you won't be shooting back to back."
"Good. Anything else?"
"Sir..." Khanna says as he worriedly glanced at Gauri making her curious.
"What is it, Khanna?" Omkara asks him seeing him glancing at Gauri.
"I'll leave." Gauri says realizing that she was the reason he was hesitating.
Omkara tightens his hold on her and tells her. "You will stay."
"He wants to tell..." Gauri starts as she turns to look at Omkara.
"I know. Whatever he wants to say, he can say when you are there. There will be no secret from you." Omkara tells her looking into her eyes.
Gauri's mouth drops open wondering whether he was acting or being serious. He didn't look like acting, or he was a damn good actor, which he was. Dammit, why was it so difficult to understand him.
"Khanna..." Omkara turns to him.
"Karan Sir had called. He was saying that they need to add a bedroom scene."
Gauri's heart skipped a beat hearing that. She didn't know why her heart skipped a beat. She didn't care if he went with someone else then why? She refused to even think that she was worried or jealous about him being intimate with someone else.
"I told you already, Khanna. No more intimate scenes."
"But he insists that it is very important for the movie."
"I don't care. I am married and I won't be doing such scenes."
"Oh! Please don't stop on my account. You can totally do it." Gauri tells him sarcastically. She didn't believe that crap even one bit. Omkara respecting her or this marriage scoff! Maybe the heroine had bad breath or wasn't sexy enough for SUPERSTAR Omkara!
"Bhabhiji also agreed, Sir."
"Tell him to remove the scene or cast another actor." Omkara tells him in finality and getting up, he walks off pulling Gauri along with him.
"Get ready biwi, we are going out." Omkara tells her.
"I am not going anywhere with you."
Omkara sighs and tells her, "Five minutes, then whatever dress you are in, I am taking you in that."
Knowing he meant what he said, Gauri goes to change her clothes.
Gauri was sitting at the back with Omkara, as she looked out and wondered where they were going. Soon they stop in front of a chawl making Gauri all the more curious.
"Come." Omkara tells her and gets out.
By the time she gets out of the car, Omkara had reached her side and takes her hand in his and start walking.
"You don't have to hold my hand. I am not going to run away." Gauri tells him irately.
"I am not holding you to stop you from running away."
"Then?"
"because I like holding you and having you by my side." Omkara tells her.
"What rubbish!" Gauri scoffs.
"What is so rubbish about that?"
"You think I am not good enough to be your wife and now you like having me by your side!"
"I thought that. But now you are my wife. There is a world of difference in that." Omkara tells her.
"There isn't."
"For me there is." Omkara tells her as he guided her towards the stairs.
Gauri looks around and sees people watching Omkara, but none of them came forward or tried to call out to him. That was strange. Either he has been coming here very often or none of them were his fans.
"Hello Omkara!" finally she heard someone shouting and turns to see a kid waving at him.
Omkara arrogantly lifts his hand at him and continues on.
"Is that your wife?" the kid asks him.
Omkara turns to glare at him, at his audacity to ask questions.
Now she understood why none of them came forward. He had glared everyone to stay away from him before.
"That is just a kid." Gauri whispers to him in anger.
Sighing loudly Omkara replies to him, "Yes." and walks off.
"You are a star because of them." Gauri furiously whispers to him.
"Yes but that doesn't give them the right to mob me when I come to meet my best friend."
"They mobbed you?"
"The first few times, then I took care of it."
"What did you do?"
"I told them to not attack me like that."
"and they listened?" Gauri asked shocked.
"Yes."
"You threatened to kill them, didn't you?" Gauri asks suspiciously as she couldn't believe that he tells them to stay away and his fans listened.
Omkara laughs loudly hearing that, "No. I just told them that I don't like being attacked in an angry tone."
Omkara walks towards a door and rings the bell, and man about Omkara's age opens the door.
"Omkara!" He says happily as he saw him at the door. "I didn't think you would come today."
"I couldn't wait for you to meet Gauri." Omkara tells him as he patted him on his shoulders and stepped in. "Gauri, this is my best friend, Rudra. And Rudra, you know, Gauri." Omkara tells him smiling.
"Hello, Gauri. So nice to meet you." Rudra tells her smiling.
Gauri politely smiles at him.
"Where is Bhavya?" Omkara asks him.
"Bhavya... Look who is here." Rudra calls out as he guided them to sit.
"Bhavya is his wife." Omkara tells Gauri.
Gauri nods her head, not understanding what is happening. She had expected Omkara to be rude to her and treat her badly. She was counting on it. So she could rebel and do something that was not proper. But he seems so different from the man she had known. He seems to be considerate, polite and even acts like a truly newlywed husband. Why is he like this? She had thought she had him figured out but now, it seems there to be a whole new layer to him.
"Hello." Bhavya says with a smile as she stepped out of the kitchen.
"Bhavya, meet Gauri." Omkara tells her with a smile.
"I already met her yesterday." Bhavya teases him with a smile.
"I don't even remember seeing you. It was that crowded." Omkara tells her with a smile.
"that is what happens, when Superstar Omkara get married." Bhavya tells him as she walked to Gauri and hugged her, surprising Gauri.
"Hi Gauri. I always wondered what kind of a girl would Omkara marry."
"Why?" Gauri asks.
"You know him." Bhavya says in a teasing. "He is a little difficult."
"He is a lot difficult." Gauri says without thinking and then bites her tongue. It is true that she didn't accept their marriage or him, but she wasn't planning on making her life a drama for the world to see. Whatever was between them, it was supposed to be between them.
But to her surprise, all three of them started laughing, and Omkara laughed the loudest.
"She is getting to know you." Rudra tells Omkara.
"That you might take a while." Bhavya tells Gauri. "It took me a long time to like him."
Hearing her, Omkara chuckles softly, making Gauri realize that these people were truly Omkara's best friends, else he wouldn't be listening to them talk about him like this.
"The first time I met him, it was on our wedding day. He had come here and I see him blasting people left, right and center for mobbing him and stopping him from seeing his best friend who just got married." Bhavya tells her.
"Let me just say that, all the times before that, he had come here, he had been patient and tolerant with the mob mentality of the people here. That time, the wedding guests and my neighbors and their relatives and friends, whom they invited knowing he would be coming that day were here and attacked him and he had lost it."
"Imagine my shock, seeing him like that after hearing so much good things about him from Rudra. I was like such an arrogant guy."
Rudra says then, "I kept telling her that he is arrogant, egoistic and a little eccentric, but he did have a heart deep down."
Gauri turns to look at Omkara and sees him watching her. isn't that what she had thought about him? Was she going to see a heart deep down in him? No way!
"It took me a while to realize that he reacts in extremes because he takes things to heart. He is very sensitive." Bhavya tells Gauri.
"I didn't bring you here to hear them praise me." Omkara tells Gauri.
"Right." Gauri says rolling her eyes.
"I don't need them to praise me when I can do that all by myself." Omkara tells her and then he bursts out laughing along with Rudra.
Gauri looks at him in shock seeing a new side to him, a side that laughed at himself. How can this be the man who had married her because of his ego? Right now, there wasn't even a hint of ego in him. Suddenly, he looked like a normal fun loving guy. Which was the true Omkara Singh Oberoi? God, she was going crazy. He will drive her mad.
Soon, their talks turned to Omkara's and Rudra's childhood and how they had become friends. Gauri couldn't help but like Rudra and Bhavya, how did Omkara turn out the way he is when he was surrounded by such loving people? Gauri wondered once again on the same day.
If Gauri understood anything about her husband beyond doubt, then it was that he was a foodie. He had licked his fingers through when he ate food prepared by Bhavya. He even casually asked Gauri to take the recipe from Bhavya so she can make that for him, if she ever decided to start cooking. Bhavya had quickly jotted down the recipe for her and handed her the paper.
"You are such a hypocrite!" Gauri accuses him.
Omkara looks at her curiously as he opened the door for her.
"You say I am not good enough to be your wife and your best friend lives in a chawl."
"Rudra has been my best friend before I became an actor. And when you came into my life, I was already a superstar."
"So?" Gauri asks confused.
"Superstar Omkara has to choose the people that he brings into his life carefully while Om could make friends with anyone he liked."
"People wouldn't judge Om." Gauri accuses him.
"No, I don't care what people think."
"then?"
"Om didn't have to fear about people being with him for him and not his status."
"Is that why you married me? Because I didn't care about you being a superstar?" Gauri asks hopefully, wanting to find a glimmer of good in him.
"Of course not! I married you because you dare to say no to me." Omkara tells her shaking his head.
Gauri looks away hurt, why was she hoping to find something good in him?
"It doesn't matter whether I thought you were not good enough to be my wife or you were in love with someone else. You are my wife and I am your husband, we are bonded for life, that is our truth."
"Truth, yes. My choice, no." Gauri tells him.
By the time, they got back home, it was late evening. Omkara had dragged her to their room.
"Aren't you tired of holding my hand?" Gauri asks him exasperated as she pulled her hand free.
"No." Omkara replies surprised. "What is there to be tired about?"
"Or bored!"
"Bored?" Omkara asks surprised. "Of course not!"
"Well, I am." Gauri tells him angrily.
"Oh!" Omkara then thoughtfully adds, "I will keep that in mind then."
"Good."
Omkara walks to the dressing room and Gauri heaves in relief. Ever since, he had woken up, he has been stuck to her like glue. He didn't even give her breathing space. Why was he doing this? Gauri wondered thoughtfully. What could he possibly gain from this other than irritate me? oh God! That is what he has been doing! He is trying to trouble me! He is making me uncomfortable. That was his plan!
She hears the dressing room door open and sees him come out in his track pants and t shirt.
"Let's go?" He asks her. "Or do you want to change?"
"Stop it!"
"Stop what?" Omkara asks confused.
"Stop dragging me with you wherever you go! I know why you are doing this!" Gauri accuses him.
"Yeah I know, I told you already. I like having you by my side."
"No! you are doing this to trouble me. To make me uncomfortable!"
"What?" Omkara asks shocked. "You think I am doing all this to trouble you?"
"YES!"
"If I wanted to trouble you, I would have done something to truly trouble you!"
"Liar!"
"I would never lie to you!"
Gauri scoffs in anger.
"Seriously Gauri, if I wanted to trouble you then you would know beyond doubt when I troubled you. Now come. I need to work out." Omkara says as he walked towards her and put his hand around her waist.
"What are you doing?" Gauri asks jumping away from him.
"You said you didn't want to hold hands."
"So you would hold me here?" Gauri asks angrily pointing at her waist.
"Where else can I hold you?" Omkara asks confused.
"Nowhere!"
"Either your waist or hand, you choose."
"Neither."
"Then I will decide." Omkara tells her as he put his hand around her waist and pulled her closer.
"HAND!" Gauri screams in panic when she felt his body heat cursing through her.
"fine." Omkara says a little disappointed as he held her hand.
For the next two hours, Gauri watched as Omkara sweated it out at the gym with his personal trainer who even offered to train her. Omkara had replied that it was her choice and hadn't commented anything more on it. Gauri was tempted to take the offer but the thought of working out with Omkara wasn't that appealing.
She looks at Omkara as he lifted weights and couldn't help look at his well-toned muscles. She had always felt disgusted when she saw people sweating, with Omkara it was different. She refused to consider it appealing but it wasn't disgusting too. God! She was going crazy!!!
As night grew close, Gauri started getting worried. Omkara had clung to her like a leech the whole day. Did he expect them to have sex too? Would he force her? Have his way with her like he did the whole day?
Gauri worriedly stood near the bed as her mind conjured up different scenarios. None boding well for her. hearing the door open, Gauri jumps up in shock and turns back to see Omkara watching her. seeing her pale face and her worried gaze, Omkara walks to her and gently tells her, "You are my wife, Gauri. I am not going to force myself on you, biwi."
Somehow she knew, he was telling the truth, and Gauri nods her head as she gulped in relief.
"Go and sleep. It's been a long day for you." Omkara tells her with a gentle smile.
Gauri walks to the bed and gets on the bed, wondering yet again, whether this was the real Omkara or the one who had forcefully married her. Omkara gets on the bed and sleeps on the other end of the bed. Gauri sighs in relief, and closes her eyes to sleep.
The next couple of days went on like this, Omkara stuck to Gauri like a Siamese twin. Gauri was getting fed up with Omkara's proximity, but she couldn't get him to leave her alone. Soon there was a glimmer of hope for her, as Omkara's shoot was supposed to resume in a few days.
"Sir, Nikhil Sir had called. He wants to reshoot a scene." Khanna informs Omkara one day as they sat in his study.
"Why? The shoot was over right?"
"Yes, but the scene you go to investigate the crime scene, they felt that if the mother was there it would be much better."
"Hmmm... that would be intriguing. when are they asking for the dates?"
"On the 10th."
"Movie is releasing on 15th right?" Omkara asks surprised.
"Yes, but that is the only date of yours that I can adjust."
"Okay, then." Omkara tells him and sees Gauri sitting next to him clueless.
"The movie is called Rahasya. It's a murder investigation. Do you want to know the story?" Omkara asks her.
"The mother is the killer?" Gauri asks disinterested.
"Yes! How did you guess?" Omkara asks surprised.
"It was easy." Gauri shrugs. "I hate knowing the suspense." Gauri softly cribs.
"Do you want us to change the story?" Omkara asks her in a teasing smile.
"No, thank you." Gauri tells him disinterested.
"Thank God, otherwise Sir would have made them change the story." Khanna tells her with a smile.
"He can do that?" Gauri asks surprised.
"What can't I do?" Omkara asks her with an arrogant smile.
Damn! She forgot that he is superstar Omkara. He can change the script of a movie on a whim. The truth was he haven't behaved like a superstar ever since they got married. He never made her feel like she was married to a superstar. He was just her husband when he was with her. DAMMIT! Why is he like this? Why is it so difficult to understand the true him? How can she figure out his truth?
"Nothing." Khanna answers in reverence.
Hearing Khanna's answer, Gauri got pissed and she tells Omkara, "You can't make pigs fly!"
Omkara chuckles hearing her. "Don't challenge me, biwi. Maybe the next movie I might have a scene like that just for you."
Gauri rolls her eyes hearing him. Omkara smiles seeing her reaction.
"Sir, tomorrow shoot is at 10." Khanna informs him. "I'll wake you up at 8, we will have to leave at 9."
"It's okay, Khanna. Biwi will wake me up." Omkara informs him surprising Gauri.
"I will?" Gauri asks trying hard to hide her irritation.
"If not you, biwi, who will?" Omkara asks her shaking his head at her then as usual without a word he gets up taking her hand in his and walks off, means end of discussion.
"Wake up!" Gauri shook Omkara at sharp 8.
"Hmmm."
"I said wake up!"
"Cancel the shoot." Omkara mumbles.
"What?"
"Postpone the shoot."
"Dammit!" Gauri furiously says as she picked Omkara's phone and calls Khanna.
"Hello, Sir."
"Khanna, he is saying to postpone the shoot." Gauri informs him. Damn! She had been waiting for him to go for his shoot so she will get some peace.
"No, bhabhiji... he will say all that but when he wakes up he will blast all of us for doing that."
"How typical!" Gauri mutters.
"Please wake him up."
"OKAY!"
"Omkara wake up!"
"Tomorrow."
"Dammit Omkara, wake up!" Gauri says furiously as she whacks him on his shoulder.
"W*F?" Omkara shouts as he sat up.
"Now that you are awake, go for the shoot." Gauri gets out of the bed.
"Did you just hit me?" Omkara asks her angrily.
"Yes!"
"Why did you do that?"
"Because you have shoot and you asked me to wake you up!" Gauri argues back.
"Couldn't you wake me up in a better way?" Omkara asks her pissed.
"I tried waking you up in a better way. Anyways why should I even bother?" Gauri asks him.
"Because you are my wife." Omkara tells her angrily and gets up from bed. "Dammit, Gauri! The start of my day is very important to me! Haven't you seen any of my movies? Haven't you seen how they wake me up in that?" Omkara asks her.
"I have better things to do with my life than watch your silly movies!" Gauri tells him. "Now, go get ready for your shoot!" and leave me the hell alone!
"You are ready?" Omkara asks her as he looked her up and down.
"Why should I be ready?" Gauri asks as her heart skipped a beat.
"Because you are coming with me." Omkara tells her frowning.
"Why should I come?" Gauri asks pissed off.
"Because I want you to come."
"I am not coming!"
"You are!"
"I am sick and tired of being stuck to you like this! I am not coming anywhere." Gauri tells him furiously.
Omkara becomes furious hearing her. "You'll come."
"I WON'T!" Gauri furiously declares.
"What will I do there?" Gauri asks Omkara on the way to the set.
"You will be with me."
"And what about when you go for take?" Gauri asks exasperated. He had dragged her out of the house.
"You'll sit in my caravan!"
"And what will I do in your stupid caravan?" Gauri asks him mockingly.
Omkara looks at her thoughtfully, and then he picks his mobile and calls up Khanna. "Khanna, get the blurays of my movies."
Gauri looks at Omkara in shock, "I am not going to watch your movies."
Omkara shrugs in reply.
Gauri was sitting on the bed in his caravan while the makeup artist was putting on his makeup. This film world was kind of fascinating, Gauri thought as she watched people running around doing things. There were people running around with lights, costumes, scripts and other things. Then there were people flocking Omkara, mainly his assistants. One was reading out the lines for him while one was setting out his costume, one doing his hair and the other doing his makeup, and not to forget Khanna, who was running around to do all his biddings. This is what was called, living life king size.
"Sir, shot is ready." An asst. director had come to inform Omkara.
"Okay." Omkara replies and gets up. "Biwi, you sitting here or coming to watch the shoot?"
Though Gauri wanted to see shooting as she has never seen one, since it was Omkara asking, her ego wouldn't let her. "No." Gauri replies looking away.
Omkara watches her for a few minutes thoughtfully and then finally decides, "You are coming with me."
"Why?" Gauri asks frowning.
"Because you want to see the shoot and I want to fulfill all yours wishes." Omkara tells her.
Before Gauri could reply she hears a dramatic sigh, and turns to look at Omkara's hair dresser and sees her looking at them with a romantic smile but very soon, she had quit smiling and was looking nervous. Without even wondering Gauri knew the reason, she turns to look at Omkara and sees him glaring at her.
"I... I will just go." The girl quickly says and leaves, followed by everyone else.
"Why do you do that?" Gauri asks him with a frown.
"Her job was done, after that she is supposed to leave, not stay back and listen to us." Omkara explains to her. "Come, let's go."
Since she was really curious about the shoot, Gauri gives in and goes with him. Rest of the day, Gauri watched in fascination how a movie was made. It amazed her that Omkara would never refuse to reshoot a scene, sometimes he even asked to reshoot a scene.
"How did you like the shoot today?" Omkara asks her as they got on bed.
"I didn't know so much hard work went into a movie." Gauri tells Omkara as she turned to look at him.
"Yes, every movie there is a lot of hardship behind it, and it hurts when people just rubbish a film that we worked so hard for." Omkara tells her.
"Do you take failures to heart?" Gauri asks him curiously, remembering what Bhavya had told her about Omkara taking everything to heart.
"Of course. I work hard for my movies, so if it doesn't work then it would hurt me." Omkara tells her.
"Hmmm." Gauri doesn't say anything further, as she thought of how she would so easily say a movie was bad, if she didn't enjoy it.
"This is the first time we are having a conversation." Omkara tells Gauri.
Gauri turns to look at him and sees him smiling. His smile was so genuine and happy.
"Did you think that we would behave like a normal husband and wife after what you did?" Gauri asks him.
Omkara turns to her and tells her, "Yes."
"How could you even think that?" Gauri asks him shocked.
"because I believe in marriage. I believe that a husband and wife bond is too strong and it would survive anything."
"If you believe in marriage, then why is the base of our marriage such a cruelty?"
"You hurt my ego, Gauri."
"At the end of it, it comes down to it, doesn't it?" Gauri asks him.
"Nope. You are my wife now. No more egos with you."
"Yeah right!" Gauri scoffs as she turned away from him.
"Yes, biwi. You are my wife, you are my better half now, so what ego with you?"
"Go to sleep, Omkara." Gauri tells him, not knowing how to reply to him.
Gauri was getting ready to go with Omkara for shoot when she hears her phone beeping. She sees Omkara picking up the phone and was about to shout at him to leave her phone alone when she notices his eyes widen for a second.
"Biwi, you have a message." Omkara tells her and passes the phone.
Wondering what could have caused that reaction from him, she takes her mobile and sees the alert.
1 message from Arjun.
Arjun! God, it's been a while she had thought of him. Strange, she had loved him whole heartedly but ever since she got married, it was Omkara who had always plagued her thoughts.
She looks up and sees Omkara watching her. his face was blank; she couldn't even possibly guess what was going through his mind. Then he raises an eye brow at her, and she quickly looks back to her phone and checks the message.
Hello Gauri... how are you? I know you had told me not to contact you ever again the last time we met. I just wanted to let you know that I still think of you and still love you, but sometimes, love isn't enough. Anyway, I am happy that you are happy in your new life. I can't stay in this city anymore and I got a job in Pune and I am going there. Please forgive me for not living up to your expectations. Will always love you, good bye, Arjun.
Gauri sighs as she deleted the message from the phone. There was a sweet pain in her heart as she read the message.
"Any problem?" Omkara asks Gauri.
"No." Gauri replies as she threw her phone on the bed and get back to getting ready.
"When you reply to him, tell him not to message you again, as your husband doesn't like it." Omkara tells her.
"You should have thought of all this when you decided to marry a girl who was in love with someone else." Gauri tells him.
"Just because I let you speak your mind, doesn't mean that you should say whatever that comes into your mind." Omkara tells her in a clipped tone.
"I don't need your permission to speak." Gauri argues with a frown.
"You don't. and that is not what I meant."
"Then what did you mean?" Gauri asks him challengingly.
"That you should speak like a wife."
"I am not your wife. I am a toy that you like slinging through your hand whole day."
Omkara furiously grabs her arms and pulls her closer to him, "You are not a toy. You are my wife. Have I ever treated you anything less than that?"
Gauri remains silent because she couldn't lie.
"Answer me, dammit."
"You didn't consider me a human when you decided to marry me against my wish."
"Are we back to that? Every progress that we make in our relation, you will go back to that."
"I will always go back to that! Because I will never forgive you for that." Gauri tells him angrily.
"You are so bloody stubborn, Gauri!" Omkara tells her furiously and walks out.
That was the first time, Omkara had gone anywhere without her. after her anger had died now, Gauri had been happy for the distance from Omkara, but within an hour, Gauri was completely lost. She didn't know what to do. She was so used to be stuck with him and doing things with him that she didn't know what she was going to do when she got time for herself. To take her mind off things, she decided to call her mother. She had become a little distant from her parents after her marriage because she was angry with her parents too, not for not letting her marry Arjun, she could understand their stand but she was angry with them for forcing her to marry Omkara.
"Gauri?" Pinky answers the phone with a big smile.
"Hello, Mama."
"It's been a few days since you talked to me. Are you still angry with me?" Pinky asks her.
"I don't know, Mama." Gauri replies honestly.
"Hmmm... are you happy, Gauri? Are you taking care of Omkara?"
Was she taking care of Omkara? Wasn't it more like he was taking care of her?
"I am not happy, Mama."
"Is he not treating you well, Gauri?" Pinky asks her worriedly.
"He is. He seems so different now."
"How?" Pinky asks her though relieved that Omkara is treating her well.
"He married me for his ego but now he is acting as if such a thing never happened. He treats me differently."
"Differently, how?"
"I don't know, Mama. He treats me as if I am his wife!" Gauri says in helpless confusion.
"You are his wife, Gauri." Pinky reminds her confused.
"But he married me for his ego!"
"So you are not happy with him because he is no longer showing his ego and is treating you well?"
"I don't know!" Gauri says pissed. "He is strange. Today, he even shouted at me!"
"Why?" Pinky asks her worriedly.
"Arjun messaged me."
"Why did he message you? Did Omkara read the message?" Pinky asks her worriedly.
"No, Omkara didn't read the message." Gauri replies thoughtfully as she realized that Omkara had the chance to check the message, in fact after that also he didn't ask her what the message was.
"Okay..." Pinky waits for her to continue.
"He didn't even ask me why he messaged or what did he message."
"Isn't that nice?" Pinky asks her.
"I am confused, Mama!" Gauri tells her confused. "He told me to tell Arjun not to message me as he doesn't like it."
"Isn't that normal?"
"But he has no right to dictate me, Mama!"
"He is your husband, Gauri."
"he forcefully married me!"
"But now you are his wife. It is time that you try to move on and try to make a life for you both."
"I'll talk to you later, Mama!" Gauri tells her upset.
"Think things through, Gauri. Try to forgive him and get to know him."
"Okay." Gauri lies.
"When are you coming home? We have been calling you both for so long. Please come home someday. Shakti is missing you. Please stop being angry at us and come home."
"I'll come, Mama." Gauri tells her, deciding to go see her parents.
After hanging up the phone, Gauri wondered what to do. She thought about going and chatting with Jhanvi but her mind wasn't on it. She was feeling upset. Shouldn't she be feeling happy to be away from Omkara? Was she missing him? No. she can never miss him. She would never get used to him.
Gauri was arranging her cupboard as she was feeling lost and decided to keep herself occupied when suddenly she felt someone hug her from behind. Gauri turns to look at the intruder in shock and Omkara keeps his face next to hers with his cheek on hers.
"Sorry." Omkara tells her cutely.
Gauri's eyes widen in shock hearing him apologize.
"Don't fight with me like that biwi. I feel so lost without you by my side." Omkara tells her and then he turns her around to face him.
Gauri looks down upset though she was happy in her heart because he had come back.
"I couldn't even give one good shot." Omkara tells her as he gently caressed her cheek.
"You started it." Gauri complains softly.
"What to do? I am very possessive about you." Omkara tells her. "I don't like that he messages you."
"I had told him before our marriage to never contact me ever. He just messaged to say bye as he is leaving the city. I didn't even bother to reply to him" Gauri tells him softly.
Omkara smiles hearing that and hugs her tight, shocking Gauri even more.
"Good thing that he left town otherwise I would have done something to him." Omkara tells her.
"What would you do?" Gauri asks curiously.
"Don't know. I don't like you thinking about anyone else other than me."
"You are mad." Gauri tells him as she pushed him away and walked off though feeling a lot lighter now that their fight was sorted.
"Biwi, come... we have to go back to the set. I have shooting." Omkara tells her as he hurried behind her.
"Khanna, cancel the shoot." Omkara orders on the phone as he sat next to Gauri and kept his hand on her forehead.
"You go for your shoot." Gauri whispers to him.
"Who is going to take care of you?" Omkara asks her with a frown.
"I can take care of myself." Gauri replies frowning at him. "I have lived for 25 yrs without you."
Omkara glares at her and then he screams into the phone, "I said cancel, Khanna."
"Sir, the movie is supposed to release next week."
"Just go, Omkara." Gauri tells him as she turned to her side and curls up taking his hand in hers and cradling it in her arms without thinking.
"Biwi, you are not well." Omkara tells her as he gently rubbed her hair with his other hand.
"Don't trouble the whole crew for me. Please go." Gauri tells him.
"I won't be able to concentrate on my shoot." Omkara tells her worriedly.
Gauri looks at Omkara in shock and seeing the worry in his eyes, she realizes that he was telling the truth.
"But you have a responsibility to your movie, your fans and your crew, right?"
Omkara leans down and kisses her on her forehead.
"You take rest, okay biwi?"
"Okay."
"Ma will sit with you. I'll come as soon as I can." Omkara promises her.
"Hmmm." Gauri mumbles as she suddenly felt her eyes tears up. She didn't understand why she suddenly had this huge desire to have him beside her. sit with her and take care of her. she liked to be pampered when she is sick, she used to drive her mother crazy with her fuss and demands, maybe she was missing her mother, that is why.
"Omkara... please switch off the AC." Gauri tells him as she shivered under the blanket.
"It's off, biwi." Omkara tells her as he rolled towards her. "Are you feeling cold?"
"Yes." Gauri tells him as she shivered.
"I've offed the fan." Omkara tells her as he leaned towards the switch and turned it off.
"It's still very cold." Gauri tells him helplessly.
Omkara moves closer to her and hugs her tight. Gauri snuggles into his arms as she borrowed body heat from him. Hearing her sigh, he asks her, "Better?"
"Yes." Gauri replies as she snuggled towards him and closed her eyes to sleep.
Feeling thirsty, Gauri wakes up and sits.
"What happened?" Omkara asks her as he sat up.
"You didn't sleep?" Gauri asks him surprised.
"I did but I felt you move." Omkara tells her.
Gauri was surprised to hear that, Omkara was a very heavy sleeper, she had trouble waking him up in the mornings and now, she just moved and he woke up.
"You wanted something?"
"Water."
"I'll get it." Omkara tells her and gets off the bed before she could say anything. Few mins later, he was back with water.
Gauri takes the glass and realizes that the water was hot. He had heated the water for her. that was very considerate.
She drinks the water and passes the glass to him. "Thanks."
"Do you want anything else?" Omkara asks her as he kept his hand on her forehead and checked her temperature. "Your fever has come down." Omkara says smiling.
"I feel very tired." Gauri tells him.
"That you will. Now go back to sleep."
"You are sweating." Gauri notices that he was wearing his vest, when they had gone to bed he was wearing his shirt.
"Yes."
"You should have slept in the other room." Gauri tells him regretfully.
"then who will take care of you, biwi?" Omkara asks her as he pulled the blanket over her.
"You love me." Gauri states what has been obvious to her for a while now.
"Yes, I do, baby." Omkara says smiling at her.
"Why?" Gauri asks him.
"Why do I love you?" Omkara asks surprised.
"Yes."
"Because you are my wife." Omkara tells her.
"because I am your wife?" Gauri asks surprised.
"Yes."
"You are mad." Gauri mutters as she pulled the blanket securely around her and rolled to her side. Omkara chuckles as he got in beside her and hugged her tight.
Gauri watched as Omkara walked around the room getting ready for shoot.
"Biwi, you take rest for today also. Your fever is gone completely. From tomorrow you can leave the room." Omkara tells her.
Gauri makes a face hearing him. She had been under "room" arrest ever since she got fever. Or rather "bed" arrest. But today, she had no intentions of remaining in the room as she was perfectly fine now.
"Biwi?" Omkara calls her.
"What?" Gauri looks at him and sees that he was standing without wearing his shirt. "Wear your shirt." Gauri orders him as she looked down, her cheeks turning pink.
"Haven't you seen me without my shirt?" Omkara asks her as remained where he was.
"No!" Gauri lies turning pink. He said he loved her and suddenly she was feeling shy in front of him.
"You are such a liar, biwi!" Omkara tells her. "I know you have been watching my movies at the set."
"That is on screen." Gauri argues.
"Hmmm... Very soon, you will be seeing me without anything." Omkara tells her with a wink.
Gauri gulps hearing him as she turned completely pink from head to toe.
"Just go, Omkara." Gauri tells him slightly blushing.
After Omkara had left for shoot, Gauri got out of the room and was chatting with Jhanvi and Bhavya who had come to visit.
"Didn't Om ask you to rest?" Jhanvi asks curiously.
"I am not doing any work, mummyji." Gauri tells her.
"He is driving you nuts." Bhavya states smiling.
"You can admit me in a mental hospital." Gauri says chuckling.
"He is very over protective." Jhanvi justifies for her son.
"A little too over protective." Gauri tells her sighing. "Anyways Bhavya, we got you and Rudra some stuff from Kerala."
"Wow! Many times, Omkara has gone for outdoor shoot, never has he got us anything." Bhavya says.
"Even us." Jhanvi says.
"He seemed so lost when I told him I wanted to get gifts." Gauri informs them giggling, Omkara had an outdoor shoot and as usual she had to go with him. She got her fever because of the rain in kerala.
Gauri was laughing with Bhavya after sharing some joke when Omkara walks in.
"Biwi, what are you doing here?" Omkara asks her angrily.
"I got bored there." Gauri replies frowning at him for talking to her in that tone in front of her friend.
"So, you would come out of the room? Didn't I tell you to take rest today also?" Omkara asks her as he lifted her out of the chair.
"I am fine now." Gauri says turning red at being embarrassed.
"I decide when you are fine." Omkara tells her as he lifted her in his arms and carried her to their room.
"Put me down, Omkara!" Gauri furiously orders him as she turned to look at Bhavya in embarrassment and sees Bhavya grinning though she was smart enough to remain silent.
"Don't shout!" Omkara angrily tells her as he walked to their room.
"You are the one who is shouting!"
"You should stay put where I tell you to!"
"I am not a doll!" Gauri says outraged.
"I wish you were!" Omkara says making Gauri gasp. "Then at least, I will have some peace of mind! You will drive me mad with your rebellious behavior!"
"I am not rebellious!"
"Then what will you call this behavior of yours?"
"Free will!"
In reply, Omkara places her on the bed and pulls the blanket over her. "One more time, you refuse to take care of yourself, I will lock you in the room!"
"Why don't you just do that? You are anyway taking away my choices from me!"
"Are we back to that?" Omkara asks her angrily.
"YES!"
"I can hear you, biwi. stop shouting."
"Stop ordering me about, Omkara." Gauri tells him in an angry whisper.
"You are my wife!"
"And it wasn't my choice!"
"Can't you just move on from that, biwi?" Omkara asks her.
"No."
"Fine! Then be stubborn!" Omkara tells her angrily and walks off.
Gauri couldn't help the tears spilling from her eyes. She angrily wipes away the tears. How could he scream at her after what he did? How can he not have an ounce of guilt in him?
Gauri was lying on their bed angry at Omkara. Sometime back, Bhavya had come to say bye and luckily hadn't commented on their fight. After she left, Gauri had remained in the room, not because Omkara asked her to stay there but because she didn't want to see anyone.
"Sorry." Omkara tells her sadly as he snuggled next to her.
Gauri sniffs in reply.
Omkara leans down and gently kisses her on her cheeks. "I am sorry, biwi. I shouldn't have spoken to you like that."
"I love you so much, why don't you see that, biwi?" Omkara asks her sadly.
"Did you marry me because you fell in love with me?" Gauri asks Omkara hopefully.
"No, biwi. I didn't marry you because of that. I married you for my ego." Omkara tells her again. "How many ever times you ask; my answer will be the same."
"Why can't you just lie to me?" Gauri asks him sadly.
"How can I lie to you, biwi? You might be there in front of me, but you truly live in my heart, so wouldn't you know when I lie?"
"Why are you so difficult to understand?" Gauri asks him helplessly.
"I am my truest in front of you, biwi. Still you can't understand me?" Omkara asks with a sad smile.
Gauri turns around and hugs him and starts crying. "I wish; you would just give another reason for marrying me. I know you love me but I can't forget what happened."
"I am sorry, biwi. I am so sorry that I can't give another reason." Omkara tells her regretfully.
Gauri sighs sadly.
Omkara takes her hand and gently kisses on her palm. "Please don't leave me, biwi."
Gauri was both surprised and shocked at his insecure request. She quickly sits up and tells him, "I won't leave you, Omkara. Never."
Omkara softly smiles hearing her and he hugs her in relief.
Gauri comes out of the dressing room after her shower and sees Omkara sitting on the bed. Seeing him, she stops and looks at him and he gets up and walks towards her. Gauri nervously watches him as he walked towards her. his eyes were piercing into her eyes, as if he could see her soul. He stops in front of her as he studied her face. Gauri nervously looks down understanding his intense gaze. Omkara gently lifts her in his arms and Gauri wraps her arms around his shoulder. Omkara carries her to bed and gently places her on it. Gauri doesn't let go of her hold on him and he joins her in bed. Leaning down he places soft kisses on all over her face while Gauri closes her eyes, enjoying his touches.
Oh my God! We made love! Twice!
Oh God! Why did I do that?
How could I do that?
My God!
Why am I not panicking or feeling bad?
Isn't it wrong? He is my husband but I don't love him.
Or do I?
"I can hear your brain screaming." Omkara tells her as he leaned up to look at her.
"Wh..at?" Gauri asks turning to look at him.
"Stop over thinking, biwi. we are married and there is nothing wrong in making love." Omkara tells her.
Hearing him say that, Gauri felt her muscles relaxing and she smiles. Omkara smiles at her and then he hugs her pulling her close to him. "Go to sleep. You need your rest."
"So do you." Gauri shyly tells him.
Omkara chuckles and tells her, "You were sick, and that is what I meant."
"I don't feel sick anymore." Gauri tells him smiling.
"Thanks to my wonder touch?"
Gauri playfully hits him. "Sleep."
"How did you fall in love with me?" Gauri asks him curiously, one day.
"When was the first time I called you biwi'?" Omkara asks her back.
"That day when you said yes."
"From the moment I called you biwi', you became my wife and the moment you became my wife I started loving you."
"Just like that?" Gauri asks surprised.
"Yes." Omkara replies.
"So, you were in love with me when I called you to ask you to call off the wedding?" Gauri asks slowly.
"Hmmm... we back to that?"
"Yes. I need to put it behind me." Gauri tells him carefully.
"When I decided to marry you, you became my wife. Once you became my wife, there was no thought of calling off the wedding."
"And your ego."
"Yes, my ego too."
"Do you regret marrying me like that?"
"No."
"Why?" Gauri asks him a little hurt.
"Because Gauri, I know how is to have you as my wife, so I don't regret that I married you in anyway. The truth is if I have to do it again, I would do it again."
"Hmmm."
"I don't regret it and never will I regret it because I can't imagine my life without you. Rudra makes fun of us saying that we are joined at the hips. I don't care if people call me henpecked. I don't. because every second that you are away from me, I feel so restless and I can't breathe easy till I have you by my side."
"I know." Gauri confesses, because even she felt that way.
"I know I owe you an apology. I am sorry, biwi that I hurt you. That I caused you pain. I am sorry, I didn't give you a choice in our marriage matter. But I will not lie to you and say that I wish we could go back in time and change things because I won't. now that I know how much I would love you, I would do it a million times to get you as my wife."
"I forgive you, Omkara."
"You do?" Omkara asks her smiling.
"Yes... I love you, Omkara." Gauri tells him as she hugged him.
"I know, baby." Omkara replies.
"You do?" Gauri asks surprised.
"Of course. I have known for a while now." Omkara tells her smiling. "I also knew that you were not ready to accept it."
"Hmmm... I guess... I just wanted you to accept that you hurt me and what you did was wrong."
"I don't accept that what I did is wrong." Omkara tells her stubbornly.
"But I will just assume that."
"How can you just assume that?" Omkara asks her in an irritated tone.
"Shut up, husband!" Gauri orders him as she hugged him tight.
