You will find living within an impure heart evil ideas, murderous thoughts, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, lies, and slander. That's what pollutes a person. Eating with unwashed hands doesn't defile anyone."
Matthew 15:19-20 TPT
The bible says, "You will find living within an impure heart." Then the Bible lists some of the things that can be found in a heart that are not pure. But let's take notice of what Jesus says. In this Bible version, the Scriptures say, "You will find living." Some of the things listed above are: evil ideas, murderous thoughts, sexual immorality and lies.Studying the scriptures above, I took note of the word 'living'. Some of these things can have life in our lives. Anything that has life has the potential to grow bigger. Even baby snakes eventually become bigger snakes that cause greater harm than a baby snake ever would cause. Dealing with a baby snake is much easier than dealing with a snake that is big.
Jesus shows us a few things that can make our hearts impure. When these things become alive in our hearts, they have the potential to harm us and they can make us unclean as the Bible says. Jesus warms us. Its always good to guard our hearts against the things that can harm us. What we produce in life is a product of what's in the heart.
Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything that I teach you, and pay attention to all that I have to say.
Proverbs 4:20 TPT
The word of God teaches us how to live and the very same word teaches us what to do in every aspect of life. If we can listen to the word of God, we can save our souls.
Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit.
Proverbs 4:21 TPT
Other versions liken the mind(thoughts) to the heart. The Scripture wants us to fill out hearts the word of God. Why? Because in the book of Mathew Jesus teaches us that some things can make us unclean, and in the scripture above, we see that the word of God can make us pure. What can we do if we want the word of God to make us clean? The bible says, "Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit. The word of God has to penetrate our spirit if its going to be effective.
"Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you."
— John 15:3 (KJV)
Each time you hear the word of God, you becomeclean. The word of God has the power to cleanse us.
"That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,"
— Ephesians 5:26 (KJV)
The word of God has a cleansing power. When we hear the word of God, we are washed as the Bible says. You cannot wash something that is already clean. Washing something implies that the thing that's being washed is not clean. And oh how we need this cleansing!
In the name of Jesus, Heavenly Father we thankyou. We magnify you. We thank you. You are great. You are mighty. You arewonderful. You are the the God who sanctifies us. Lord, we ask that you cleanour hearts. May you free us from all kinds of impurities. Everything in us thatmakes us unholy, and unclean, we ask that you cleanse us. This we ask inJesus's name. Amen
