Amber's POV.

Connor and I were told to go on to bed and take Rebecca with us since she refused to let go of Connor in her sleep. The three of us went to my room that I've been staying in since the bed was a king size.

We laid down, not bothering to change into different clothes and had Rebecca in the middle of us. We instantly fell asleep. I woke only once on the middle of the night to the sounds of whimpering.

Rebecca was having a nightmare. In his sleep, Connor carded his fingers gently through her hair and shushed her. It seemed to calm her down and soon they were both back in a deep sleep.

I followed them shortly after and didn't wake again until late in the morning. When I woke this time it was to Rebecca sitting up in bed.

She turned over to look at Connor who was still sound asleep. She then turned to me and saw that I was awake. Her eyes glowed brighter and I could hear her in my mind.

" Good morning Luna. Did you sleep good?" She asked politely.

I smiled at her. " I slept wonderfully and please, call me Amber. " I said.

She grinned. She seemed completely at ease here with Connor and I. I was immensely happy about that. I want her to feel safe here.

" I was wondering, do you know how to talk or is talking in your mind easier for you?" I asked.

She seemed hesitant to answer but did anyway. " I can talk, I've just spent so much time being told to only use my powers when trying to talk. " she said in my mind.

" I understand. I want you to know that you will be safe here and anytime you wish to talk out loud we will gladly encourage it. There's no rush at all. You do whatever feels better for you. " I told her.

" You all are so kind. " she said.

" I try to be. " I said.

She smiles. Connor yawns just then and his eyes slowly open. He looks over and spots her awake. " Good morning Rebecca. Did you sleep well?" He asks.

Her eyes glow and he smiles. " Good, I'm glad you did. " he said.

" I need to get moving. I'm already late for work as it is. " I said as I make my way off the bed and over to the closet.

I then hear Rebecca in my mind. " Aren't you curious as to where I came from? Shouldn't you be asking me a bunch of questions?" She asked. Her tone was shaky, almost like she was terrified of the answer.

I turn towards her. " I am curious but by the injuries you had I can tell you've been through a lot. As much as o want answers, I'm not going to push you for them. You can tell me on your own time. All I want is for you to be safe and happy. " I said.

Her eyes widen. " Really? You're not going to interrogate me or torture me?" She asked.

My heart aches for her when she asks that. " We would never torture you for answers. You are a child Rebecca, you deserve to have happiness and people that care about you. I would never interrogate you or torture you for answers. I promise. " I said.

She seems to relax even more. " I can tell you're telling the truth. Thank you. " she said.

I then get an idea. " Hey Connor, since we're already late for work, how about we take the morning off and take Rebecca here to the store for some clothes and toys?" I suggest.

Connor smiles at me. " Perfect and on the way back we can stop and pick up Walnut. " said Connor.

" Sounds good to me. " I said.

" Walnut?" Asked Rebecca.

I let out a small laugh. " Walnut is the name of Connor's kitten. " I tell her.

Her eyes light up. She turns to Connor and he starts to laugh. " She's the most adorable little kitten you will ever meet. You're going to love her. " said Connor.

Rebecca seems to be jumping with joy. " Let me get ready and then we will go get you something to eat for breakfast. " I said.

She nods. Connor and I take turns in the bathroom getting ready before I had my smallest pair of shorts and a small shirt to Rebecca so she could change.

She soon comes out of the bathroom. They seem a bit big on her but we can make due for now. I take one of my belts and secure her shorts of to her better to where they fit on her.

She thanks me and then I give her a pair of flip flops to where. She takes Connor's hand and the three of us leave the room and head to the kitchen on the same floor. In there already was my mother and father as well as Alpha Conan.

She seemed very nervous when she saw Alpha Conan. " Who is he?" She asks me in my mind.

" As you know, these two are Rick and Natalie, my mother and father. That man over there is the former Alpha of this pack and Connor's father, his name is Conan. " I answer her.

" Is he nice? " she asks.

" Yes he is. He is a very nice man. " I tell her.

She nods and Connor leads her over to the table. We have her sit. " Rebecca, can you tell me if you are allergic to anything?" I ask.

She thinks for a moment before looking at me again. Her eyes glow. " I don't think I'm allergic to anything. I really don't like peas though. " she said.

" Is there a breakfast fox you prefer?" I ask.

" Eggs sound good." She said.

" Eggs it is. " I said before going to prepare some. She doesn't take her eyes off of me as I get to work cracking and stirring the eggs. She watches me as I bring out a pan and a bottle of nonstick spray.

" What is that used for?" She asked me as I sprayed the pan with it.

" This is caked non stick spray. It's used for cooking so the eggs won't stick and burn to the pan. " I tel her.

" That's cool. " she admired.

I smile at her as I cook the food. Once the food was done I split it into three bowls and pass two of the bowls to Rebecca and Connor along with forks.

She happily sits down and eats her food. " She seems happy. " said my mother.

" She slept against Connor all night last night. She did have a nightmare but Connor instantly soothed her. " I said.

" She seems attached to you two already. " said my father waking up to me.

" She does. We plan on taking her to get some clothes and toys after we eat. " I said.

" Do you want us to interrogate the human leader?" Asked Alpha Conan as he wakes up as well.

" I think that would be best for now. My focus needs to be on Rebecca right now. If you need me let me know and whatever you do, don't mention anything about Rebecca. If she's been his captive for her entire life than he doesn't need to know we have her. She has to remain safe. " I said.

" Understood. We won't mention her at all. " said my father.

" Good. " I said.

Once she finished eating we packed up and we're getting ready to leave when we heard Sasha downstairs. Rebecca heard her and gasped in excitement. " There's another kid?" She asked.

" Yes. Her name is Sasha. Her and her parents are human and here under our protection for the time being. " I tell her.

Hearing that they were human didn't seem to get rid of her excitement. " Can I meet her?" Asked Rebecca.

" Of course you can. " I tell her.

She takes my hand and we walk down the stairs to the main living room. Everything had been cleaned up last night and looked perfect now.

Sasha was holding Walnut with her mother by her side. Pamela right away spotted us. Her eyes widened as she saw Rebecca. She relaxed her posture right away and smiled warmly.

" Hello, I'm Pamela. This is my daughter Sasha and the kitten she is raising with Connor. Little Walnut. " said Pamela.

Sasha looked over and grinned when she saw Rebecca. She walked over. " Hi I'm Sasha. This is Walnut. Isn't she just the cutest. " Said Sasha.

Rebecca's eyes began to glow and Sasha seems shocked at first. She then just rolled with it. " You talked time in my mind. That's so cool. You have powers like Mister Connor does. Wow. I love your eyes. " she said.

They soon were deep in conversation and walked over to the couch and sat down. I smiled softly at them. Looks like Rebecca has a new friend.

" Where did she come from?" Asked Pamela.

" After the pack house was ransacked last night my parents and some guards searched the house. They found her in a closet up stairs. She was covered in bruises and silver burns. She even had silver burns across her mouth from a muzzle. She allowed Connor to heal her and they she in return used his leftover power to heal Connor some. It was amazing. She refused to let Connor go after that and has been practically glued to our side since last night. " I tell her.

" Was it the humans that had her?" She asks.

" I'm not positive on it but I assume so. " I said.

" Is she able to talk?" Asked Pamela.

" She can but she prefers to talk to people through her powers. " I said.

" At least she has a way to communicate with people. " said Pamela.

" We're about to go get her some clothes and toys. Would you and Sasha like to join us?" I ask.

" We would love to. " said Pamela.

We tel the girls we're ready to go and that we can take Walnut with us. They grin and follow us out the door. I already have a feeling that today is going to be a productive day.
