Remilda turned the gold coin around in her ringers a few times. Admiring it, Hermione was beyond clever for this. Because of all of Umbridge's rules, it had been practically impossible to set up a time that would work for everyone for the meeting. So Hermione had come up with the idea to get a bunch of golden coins, and enchant them to reveal the date and time they would meet.
During lunch, the coins revealed that tonight was the night. The first ever meeting for Dumbledore's Army. A few weeks ago, if you would have asked Remilda if she was excited she would have probably said she was more nervous than excited. But now, after what happened with her Dad she couldn't wait to learn everything Umbridge wasn't teaching.
"Remilda!" someone exclaimed as she made her way down the enchanted staircase to go to the Great Hall, "Remilda, wait,"
Remilda did as she was told and stopped, looking over her shoulder to see Harry hurrying to catch up with her. "Hey, Harry." she smiled simply. "Excited for tonight?" she asked quietly.
Harry smiled, genuinely this time. "I am actually," he paused, "I feel like we're really doing something." he added.
"Have you been getting enough rest?" she asked as they continued down the stairs, "Over the past few weeks...I've just been worried about you." she stammered a bit on her words.
"Oh, uh, yeah. Fine, I'm fine," he replied nervously, "but anyway," he said in a more upbreat tone. Changing the subject away from why he's been acting odd, "I was thinking," he paused, "everything I know, I just sort of...know from doing it. You and Raelyn actually went through all these lessons at Ilvermorny, right?"
"Depends on the lesson." she replied, but then nodded, "But year, we were about a year and a half ahead."
"I've already asked Rae, she said she'd do it. But I was wondering if you'd be able to help out, with teaching everyone. I've never had to teach anyone before..." he explained simply.
Remilda thought for a moment and then shrugged with a nod, "Sure," she paused, "should be fun."
During dinner there was a strange atmosphere in the Great Hall or maybe it was simply just around Remilda and the others. But there was eagerness in the air, and the excitement was practically the same as it had been when Remilda was sorted into Gryffindor. Raelyn sat near Ron and the twins, while Remilda sat near Hermione and Lucy with Harry across from them. The conversation was average, but mainly because they didn't want to risk someone like Umbridge to find out about the D.A. Then one by one or a few at a time, people began to leave as of to go to their houses. Instead they hurried to make their way to the Room of Requirements. The room that Neville Longbottom had stumbled onto.
The Room of Requirements was amazing, it turned into what over someone desired. For the D.A. in turned into a giant room with a fireplace on both ends. It had giant pillars holding up a high ceiling which had chadaliars hanging from it. The floor had a few square drains of sorts, and along one wall were a variety of different types of targets they could practice on. There there were mirrors practically everywhere. And one of them, people had decorated. Someone had put a picture of Cedric Diggory on it, then Harry most likely had been the one to place the picture of the original Order of the Pheonix up as well. Along with a few other pictures and even a few article clippings.
"Welcome everyone," Harry said after he cleared his throat. His green eyes had a spark of life in them that Remilda hadn't seen before. "tonight, we're going to be starting with the stunning spell." he said nervously, and still excitedly.
"Why don't we all get in two lines?" Raelyn suggested and with that everyone parted into two lines in the room. Raelyn then shot Harry a reassuring smile.
"Great, well this spell is sort of like a wizards Bread and butter." Harry explained simply, "Anybody want to have a go at it?"
Nigel, the small read headed first year quickly rose a hand.
"Alright, Nigel," Harry nodded, and motioned for him to go to the opposite end up the room.
Remilda stood across from Fred, George, and Raelyn. All who watched the small first year take his place with Harry on the opposite side.
"Alright then," Harry nodded towards the first year.
"Stupefy!" Nigel exclaimed.
The spell was so strong, that it not only hit Harry with such force that he flew back a good ten feet. But it was also so powerful that sent Nigel flying back as well. Both hit the ground exceptionally hard. Remilda winced the the memory of her first duel. Against her friend Hannah in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Remilda hit the ground so hard she had broken her tailbone, that had been a long night in the medical wing.
"I'm okay! I'm okay," Nigel said quickly as he scrambled to his feet. His eyes were wide, it had probably been one of the first times he had done a spell like that. Since Umbridge didn't encourage it after all.
"Good Nigel, that was really good!" Harry smiled as he pushed himself up to his feet and then straightened his glasses. "Ron? Hermione?" he questioned. Ron sighed heavily and went down to take Harry's place. On his way past Hermione, he stopped her.
"Don't worry, I'll go easy."
"Thanks, Ronald. How considerate of you."
At the sound of Hermione's response, a handful of the girls, including Remilda, snickered. Did Ron think he had to go easy on the witch who had mastered up the golden coins that told them about that meeting? Remilda looked across the gap, and saw Fred and George muttering to each other.
"Stup-" Ron began.
"Stupefy!" Hermione exclaimed quickly, and the spell it Ron and sent him up in the air and back down again.
Remilda clapped along with the other girls as Harry took his place in the middle again. This time he looked a much more confident at being in front of everyone.
"Before we partner up," Harry began, "we're going to toss in the shield spell. Remilda? Rae?"
Raelyn eagerly went to take Hermione's place as Raelyn a bit less enthusiastically as she went to where Ron had been. It wasn't because she wasn't good at this sort of thing, dueling had actually been one of her strengths. But Raelyn thrived while deuling. When they were younger, she'd get in more physical fights. But once she got the hang of magic, deuls weren't uncommon with her.
The two girls stared at each other for a moment. Remilda was assuming that Remilda was going to be the attacker, she loved just getting down into it. A few moments later, she rose her wand and cast the spell with extreme ease.
"Stupefy!"
"Protego!" Remilda exclaimed as soon as the spell left her sisters lips. The shield charm was invisible, but as soon as Raelyn's spell hit it, the spell disinigrated into little blue sparks in contact.
Remilda smiled to herself. She had forgotten the rush it was to practice using magic like that. This was how all of their Defense Against the Dark Arts classes had been like. Interactive.
