Chapter 55

Chapter 55

The wind rushed past me and I curled my arms around myself while staring at the night sky. There were a dozen of stars shining back at me. I squeezed my arms tighter and sighed before going back into the house. Just as I went inside, I saw my Dad along with Cordelia.

"Oh," I lowered my gaze at the suitcases in their hands. "Leaving?"

"I rented out a place nearby and Cordelia is coming with me. We don't want to trouble you, and at the same time, I can't leave you alone too." Dillion said.

"Of course," I nodded.

A long minute passed and Dillion placed his arm over my shoulder. "Gives my best wishes to Luciano. I hope he gets better soon." He tucked me in his embrace and gave me a warm hug. "Watching you all grown up and alive tears me up. At the ceremony today, I wished I had found you both earlier, I wished I had never left this country," His voice broke a little.

I sharp smile lifted my face and I pulled away. "That's all right, better now than never. Thank you for everything, for letting us stay at your house in England to protecting us before you even knew the truth."

"I'll always be in touch," He pressed his hand on my face and leaned over to kiss my forehead. "If you need anything—"

"I'll call you!" I cut him off. Everyone was telling me the same thing, there were too many people I could call if I needed anything and that sort of made me happy.

"Yes. And, oh, it was great to see your daughter, she's beautiful, just like you. I'd love to see more of her." He stated, eyes shining.

"Of course! You can come here anytime and Anna is just two houses away." I told him, pointing at my left side where Ben was staying.

We shared a few more laughters and it hit me like home, like I finally had all of my family with me, like I had everything in this world. Dillion got into the car while Cordelia stayed back to say something to me. Even their relationship was getting somewhere, they were talking with each other and now they were going to stay in the same place together.

I spied some spice between them soon.

My laughter faded when Cordelia spoke. "I couldn't say this to you earlier but it seems like something has gone wrong with your husband."

"What?" I breathed heavily.

She shook her head, staring into the blankness behind me while the color in her eyes shifted. "I sense sickness and a lot of pain. You have to be careful, really careful. If he falls sick again, go to a healer among the wolves, they should be able to figure it out."

"Figure what out?"

"The problem, the sickness..." she trailed off.

"Cordelia. What's wrong?" I grabbed her hand, begging her to tell me the truth.

"I can't—I don't know, Red, I really don't." She finished. "Just be careful and take care. Goodbye."

A sigh escaped my lips and my hand drifted away from hers as she went pass me, going into the car where Dillion was.

"Goodbye." I mumbled quickly.

I didn't wait this time, as soon as the car left, I ran upstairs and back into my room to check on Luciano. My heart was thumping like a wild thunder while fear scattered and lightened inside my head. Opening the door, the scent of vervain attacked me and I coughed.

My eyes fell on Luciano who was on the bed. "Uh, what happened?" I asked, waving my hand in the air to move the smoke somewhere else. It was fucking up with my wolf like it was supposed too. "Where's Fiona?"

"She slept and I asked Vincent to put her in bed," He shifted over the bed and rested his back on the headboard. "He also burned more vervain while calling my wolf weak for some reason."

I closed the door behind before any of the vervain left the room. We didn't want to drive the entire town of wolves crazy. I came on the bed and plopped right beside Luciano who had been watching the television.

"Is something wrong with your wolf?"

"Not that I know. I feel fine."

"You know I can't live a day without you so if something is wrong, please tell me." I pleaded with my eyes.

"I will—if there is something wrong." He sounded promising and I believed him.

I tried to look into his eyes but I couldn't when his bare chest was on my view. My lips parted and I admired his rippled muscles all of sudden. Heat fell between my legs and I snapped my head to the other side where the vervain was still burning.

"You know that I'm going to go into heat if I keep smelling that, right?" I asked, pulling the blanket above me and making myself more warmer even when I was already.

The scent was making my wolf mad and not in that sort of way—it was heating her up and doubling her desires. It wasn't just me only.

Luciano chuckled, snaking his arm over my waist and pulling me closer. He placed a kiss on my shoulder and said, "Oh, Red, you make me hard on my death bed too."

I punched his chest and frowned, "Don't say that."

"I'm just joking," He whispered, his voice ridden with lust. "I think it's time for some celebration." He traced kiss down my neck and I purred.
