*Jacklyn's POV*

If you have ever watched Dr.Seuss The Lorax, and remember the song the three fish were singing while they kidnapped the Once-ler to have him float down the river in his bed, you would be hearing it in my head right now. Avis and I ghosted down hallway's, dodged all the sentries until at last we made it to the kitchen doors.

Avis pressed her ear to the door to see if she could hear anyone inside. After a short pause, she gave a small nod and I slowly lifted the latch on the door, lifting it up on it's hinges as I pushed it inward. Poking my head through the door, I double check to make sure the coast is clear before slipping inside, Avis right behind me. While she makes sure that the door closes quietly, I begin to snoop around for food. Once the door is shut, Avis comes up behind me and we both search the many counter tops and cabinets for delicious pastries. I was getting hungrier by the second and the the faded aroma of freshly-baked bread was not helping. Eventually, I suggested to split up and meet back by the back of the kitchen.

I was so glad I had my purse and back pack. Whenever my arms got full, I would put the small tarts and muffins into my purse, slinging it over my right shoulder then go back to raiding a cabinet or two. I only took one or two from each batch so as to make it look as if only ten were made and not a dozen. I went to the meeting spot and sat down. Carefully taking out the food as I waited for Avis to finish up her side of the kitchen. Before I was going to place it on the floor, I remembered that sanitation wasn't all that great here, so I brought out the towel I had handed to Gilan- though he had never taken it. In total, I had snagged two blueberry muffins, two other muffins- not sure as to what flavor, several rolls, a small pot of honey, a few apples and oranges, five blackberry and raspberry tarts and for the grand finale, a nice piece of ham. I mean, whats a feast without ham?

At that moment, Avis returned and carefully placed her findings on the towel and sat down opposite of me. She had gotten two turkey pies, a few eating utensils- clever, and to make things better, some wonderful apple tarts. Taking a while to get things situated, we split up our finding evenly and waste no time to dig in. After a few moments of silence, Avis pipes up.

"Well, I suppose we lied to the Baron- again." I glance up at her over the rim of my glasses. "What are you talking about?" She shrugged as she finished wiping the remains of a turkey pie off her dress. "We said we wouldn't get into anymore trouble, and here we are stealing food from the kitchens." I cocked my head and just stared at her for a few seconds before I put down my apple tart.

"First off, as you pointed out a while ago, we never lied to them. Secondly, you said you wouldn't get into anymore trouble, I didn't." She frowned at that, "what do you mean? Of course you did!" I stared at her long and hard. "No-o. You said something about wouldn't dream of it while I kept my mouth shut. And lastly, this kitchen scheme was brought up by you." Avis seemed to consider this before relenting, "I guess your right..." I grinned, "Of course I'm right."

Before we could launch into a word battle, a sound at the door made us stop all conversation and movement. It was silent for a few seconds before we heard it again.

Voices, and they were growing louder by the second.

I exchanged a wide-eyed glance with Avis in a state of panic. If anyone caught us in here, we would be separated for sure.

Casting a quick look around the kitchen, I hurriedly opened the cabinets we where sitting next to and found with relief that they were completely empty. Shoving my back pack and purse to the far corner in one side of it, I climbed in and grabbed a corner of the towel with all of our stolen good on it. After that, Avis climbed in and we quickly shut the cabinet doors.

Just as the kitchen door swung open.

•I know, I know, short chapter, but I felt extremely bad that Avis couldn't write the kitchen scene so I cut it down and left it open. Hope y'all enjoy the story so far!
