THE CORONTAION, A HEARTFELT GOODBYE, AND TWO RECOLLECTIONS

A.n. so sorry for not updating in forever but since it is the last chapter, 😢😥😩😖😭😭😭 I wanted to make sure that it was perfect. Thanks for the 1000 reads! I'll start working on the sequel soon. Yes, Prince Caspian!!! Woohoo!! Anyways, you've all been waiting so patiently so here's your FINAL CHAPTER😁

Previously on Raelyn the Merciful...

Was this it? Is the moment I've been longing for actually here??

Just as there was almost no more space between us, the bells started ringing and Raelyn jumped back, startled. Realizing what the sound was, she started walking toward the door in an awkward silence. (Haha got you again😛😊😁)

"Raelyn!" I called out. She turned around. "Yes?"

"I wouldn't regret it if the bells never rang." I smiled.

She laughed, and we both hurriedly made our way to the coronation.
...........................................

Edmund's POV

After we apologized to Aslan for being late, we took our positions at the four thrones of Cair Paravel. Raelyn was standing in between me and Susan. Tumnus took his place, holding our crowns, along with the beavers. Aslan took his place, shaking his mane which glistened in the evening sun, and began the ceremony.

"We are all here today to witness the fulfillment of a prophecy written many years ago.

Before the great Aslan makes his leave
Four Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve
Must govern and rule the Narnian land
From the thrones of Cair Paravel.

However, evil powers will oppose
And the White Witch; as the legend goes
Will threaten the Kings and Queens of old
With the Son of Adam's life."

Raelyn leaned over to my ear and whispered:

"that was where we met."

"that day was the most confusing, horrific and painful day of my life."

I admitted. She chuckled and I shot her a look.

And even so, there comes a day
Where the warrior, Aslan's banerette
Will face the Witch, whom she will slay
And grant the Narnians peace."

This time, I learned over and whispered. "You know, if the White Witch hadn't have stabbed me, I would have been the one to grant the Narnians peace."

"Sure, battle boy. Steal my thunder!" She shot back. "I worked hard for that prophecy."

"Though the Witch seems to have won,
Her troubles have only jus begun.
Through war and battle, endless strife;
She'll stop at nothing to have Aslan's life.

It certainly seemed like all hope had been lost, didn't it, children?"

Nodding, I remembered all that had happened to me on this journey, and I couldn't even begin to count the many times I wished to give up.

"But just remember, you have power when you work together as one."

At this my gaze fell on Raelyn, who was also looking at me. She smiled and I turned my attention back to the ceremony when Tumnus took the first crown.

Aslan gave a mighty roar and the crowd that was witnessing stood up, waiting for Aslan to begin the coronation.

Raelyn started to walk down from the thrones. "My cue" she explained.

"To the glistening eastern sea, I give you Queen Lucy the Valiant."

Tumnus placed the crown on her head, receiving a giggle from Lucy.

"You look wonderful your Majesty." Tumnus told her. Lucy looked at me and smiled the biggest smile I'd ever seen. She leaned over and whispered:

"Look at who's bringing your crown, Ed."

"To the great Western Wood, I give you King Edmund the Just."

I looked over to see Raelyn holding my crown, butterflies bursting at the seams of my stomach. I felt my cheeks turn beet red as she placed the crown on my head, and she smiled.

"You've come along way since I've met you, my King." She whispered.

"Please, call me Ed. All of my Family does." I smiled. She laughed subtly and walked back down the steps to grab another crown.

"To the radiant southern sun, Queen Susan the Gentle."

Mr. and Mrs. Beaver waddled up to Susan and she bent down so they could reach her head. Mrs. Beaver was overjoyed.

"Never in all my days did I think we'd have the honor of seeing the prophecy come true! Thank you, your Majesty, for saving our world."

Susan hugged Mrs. Beaver who was shedding a happy tear as she walked back down towards Mr. Tumnus.

Raelyn's POV

I took the last crown of gold in my hands and began walking the steps to the thrones once more.

"And to the clear northern skies, I give you High King Peter the Magnificent."

He bowed and I placed the crown gently on his head. The crowd erupted in cheers and shouting. Peter laid his eyes on mine and smiled.

"Be good to Edmund, will you? Don't let him turn into an old grouch."

At this I used all my will power not to blush or get defensive.

"Pardon?"

"Oh, don't play dumb with me Raelyn. I know it when I see it." He laughed.

"I see." Was all I said before striding over to Aslan. He growled and everyone took their seats.

"Let us not forget who fulfilled the other prophecy. The one who bravely slayed the White Witch herself. To the great Eastern Mountains, I give you Raelyn the Merciful!"

The entire population of Narnia seemed to chant my name, even the Pevensies! Edmund came over to me with a crown that he had been hiding in his robe. Placing it on my head he told me,

"You deserve this."

I smiled brightly, he was so sweet. Sure, he could be a little annoying and arrogant at times, but he really cared.

He reminded me of my Father. He was always there to look out for me, he called me his Princess many times, and every night he'd tuck me into my bed and sing me a song.

From the day you were born I held you in my arms
You are a beautiful baby girl with such charm
You had that twinkle in your eye
I tried to hold my emotions and not cry.

As I watch you grow from a baby to a young girl
There is nothing good enough for you in this world
From a young girl to a woman who is loved
I swear God sent me an angel from above

My princess is the fairest in all lands
Her hair made from golden strands
Thousands come in clans to kiss her hands
She will never be bland

Everyone is a fan of her command
When the big band plays we all stand
Her beauty is forever grand
When she is with me I am in a dreamland.

As the crowd began to disperse, I started quietly humming the song to myself, remembering my Father. Gosh, how I miss him. He was really the only reason that I woke up in the morning. My mother used to always be there but as I grew older, her job at the red cross was her main priority. No matter what, my Father would always put me at the top of his list. And now, I wouldn't ever see him again.

A tear silently slid down my cheek as I remembered the explosion that night. Running up to already see him dead, and then my entire home bursting into flames so I couldn't even say goodbye. I hoped that he would be proud of me, he always said I would look good in a rose colored gown that I pointed out in a local dress shop, but we were too poor to afford it.

And now, here I was in a different world wearing a beautiful rose colored gown that was even more extravagant than the one at the shop. If only my Father could see me in it!

When I was little, my Father always told me not to marry anyone other than my Prince. I'd ask him how I'd find my Prince, and he'd always say,

"You'll just know, Princess. You'll just know."

Another tear slid down my cheek, then another. I decided that I needed to be alone, so I ran up to the lookout tower at the top of Cair Paravel.

As I sat, I saw mermaids playing carelessly in the sea below, and I smiled at them. Then, along the beach, I saw Aslan, walking along the sand all of a sudden, he disappeared.

"Goodbye, Aslan." I cried as countless tears streamed down my cheeks.

Would I ever see him again?

Edmund's POV

After the ceremony was over, Peter told me to come to the banquet hall with him, Susan and Lucy. I nodded and walked by his side until we reached the door. Looking back at the thrones, I saw Raelyn crying. Then she ran off.

Turning to Peter, I told him

"I'm going to see what's wrong with her."

But before he could stop me, I was already bounding for the steps that took me to the lookout tower. There, I saw Raelyn sitting on a porch swing type thing, slowly rocking back and forth. Quietly, I followed her gaze out to the beach where Aslan was walking. Then all of a sudden he disappeared!

"I guess you can never tell when he'll come or leave."

I said causing a startled Raelyn to jump in her seat, resulting an odd motion from the swing she was sitting on.

"May I join you?" I asked. She nodded, and I sat down beside her.

"What's wrong?" I asked, seeing that she was still crying.

"You remind me of my Father." She admitted.

A bit unsure of how that could cause her to cry I inquired "is that good or bad?"

She laughed and smiled sadly. "It's good. I just miss him, that's all."

"Did something happen to him during the war?" She nodded.

"He had just gotten back from a battle. He was on a four day leave; it was the second to last night and all of a sudden we were attacked by the German Air Force."

I sighed heavily, knowing full well where this was going.

"I ran upstairs as fast a I could because my Father was already sleeping. I tried waking him up, but he wouldn't. I tried to take his pulse, but nothing was there. I guess he had a heart attack or a stroke or something. That's when I ran to a shelter and met your brother. While I was there I witnessed the destruction of my home from a bomb. He meant so much to me-"

and then she broke down sobbing. I wrapped my arm around her and gently pulled her close.

"I'm so sorry" I whispered, a tear escaping my eye.

"Thanks." She replied, trying to regain her composure, but to no avail.

"I'm sure he'd be proud of you now, though. Especially for saving the lives of so many and rescuing an entire world from destruction. And I know he'd be stunned to see you wearing this gown.

"I'm sure he would." She agreed. "Did anything happen to your Father? You never talked about him."

I sighed, and nodded slightly. "I remember the day like it was yesterday. My Father had been sent off to fight somewhere near Japan. A few months after he left, one of those officers that delivered the horrid letters came to our house. I remember reading it and exactly what it said.

Dear Madam,

It is with the deepest regret that I have learned that your husband, Mr George Pevensie, who was serving in the Marines has been recorded as supposed captured or killed whilst on service with his troop.

By command of His Majesty the King the names of those members of the Marines who have given their lives in the service of their country are recorded in the Marines Roll of Honour. I am now adding Mr. Pevensie's name to the Roll of Honour, and, as I do so, wish to express my admiration for the services he rendered and to convey to you and your family my profound sympathy in your sad bereavement.

Your husband worthily upheld the noble traditions of the Marines and I may perhaps hope that the realisation of this fact may help to soften the heavy blow which has fallen upon you.

"Wow, that must have been hard." I nodded. As the sun was setting, out of nowhere Raelyn gave me a hug and quietly cried into my shoulder. As I thought about everything she had gone through, I was amazed at this girl's determination and fearlessness even when facing a sure death. I squeezed her back softly and whispered:

"You're a very brave girl, Raelyn the Merciful."

A.N. whoop whoop!! It's finished!!!! This was such a fun story to write, and I'm actually crying right now because I've been working on this since September. I've really put my heart and soul into this piece so I want to thank you with all my heart for reading and putting up with my slow(er) updates. There will be an epilogue so there is still a little more!! I love you all and I'll see ya when I start with the Prince Caspian sequel!!!

Forever and always,

Raquella anna.

Disclaimer:

I don't own the song listed above. It's a poem that I found online so I don't own it. Please remember that although the Pevensie children aren't my own creation, Raelyn is completely owned by me so please don't use it unless with permission.

Thank you!!
